How to recover RSS feeds from Time Machine backup?

Hi,
I have deleted an RSS feed and so even his messages are gone. Then I have tried to recover it from my TM backup but I just discovered that TM shows me the RSS feed but it does not allow me to select them to recover.
Is it correct?
Is there any way to recover that?
thanks!

Thanks for the response BDAqua, I did use Migration Assistant to transfer her data from the SuperDuper backup.  Are you suggesting that I use Migration Assistant to transfer data from the Time Machine backup?  Will that result in duplication?  Sorry, but I've no experience at all with Time Machine backups and don't know whether you can 'pick and choose' what to restore from the Time Machine using Migration Assistant.
Cheers
Tricia

How can I exclude mail from Time Machine backups?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Mails are stored on ~/Library/Mail, being ~ your user folder. As you are running Snow Leopard, it's easy to exclude your mails from your Time Machine backup.
Open System Preferences > Time Machine > Options, and add ~/Library/Mail to excluded items, so the next backup won't include mails. Note that you have to go to your user folder, in order to access to this directory

  • How to recover iTunes library from Time Machine on external drive

    Dear Forumers,
I was not able to solve this problem, hence I decided to open this discussion.
Recently, I clean installed Yosemite so my new Mac is completely empty.
I have my time machine backup on my eternal hard drive and would like to restore only specific things - such as iTunes library.
    How do I do it?
I can locate the iTunes app in the backup file in the external drive but that is just the app - I still don't know how to recover my playlists and songs.
Moreover, I do not have those songs in the Mac - previously they were in a separate organised folder created by me (inside the "music" folder) and iTunes used it.
Does iTunes have a copied library of this all?
Or do I have to copy this folder into Mac and then manually reopen all the songs and sort them into playlists?
    Any advice?
    Thank you in advance.

  • How do a clean install from Time Machine Backup which is in other partition of internal hard drive

I have 2 partitions in my internal hard drive they are
    1. Mac OS (Sysem Files)
    2. HDD (Other Personal Documents).
I did Time Machine Backup in HDD partition. So now i want to do clean install from the Time Machine Backup without format the whole drive since my system not booting meant that system crashed and cant boot in anyway (Just consider ). Also I have MAC bootable USB stick.
    Thanks in advance .

Having never seen a setup like that, I'm not sure how it will work.
In theory, just erase the Mac OS volume, then install, choosing to recover from a Time Machine backup.
When you boot into Recovery, open Disk Utility and select the Mac OS volume, not the whole disk. Erase it, then quit DU and restore from the Time Machine backup. However, this is the part I'm not certain of. I would imagine the partition with TM backup will be mounted, but I don't know.
If you can't see the Time Machine backup from the Recovery HD on the drive, try it from the USB Recovery stick (it is a Recovery USB and not the old Lion install USB, correct?)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
If you don't have a "built-in" recovery HD because of your partitioning, then you would have to boot from that USB Recovery disk.
Your setup is severely flawed. A backup on the same drive as the data is not a backup. You will lose everything with a disk failure.
Also, partitioning off your OS on a Mac is not necessary and is probably counterproductive. OS X is not Windows.

  • Recovering Calendar files from Time Machine backups in Mavericks

I have somehow deleted all previous Calendars and entries prior to the day I set up iCloud. They have gone from iCloud also. This occurred after I tried to remove duplicates. Calendar entries after setting up iCloud are more or less OK but everything before that day has gone (except for birthdays and a few other entries).
Can I recover them from a previous (Mavericks) time-machine backup and if so how please?
I have looked for calendar files on my external backup HD but can't see anything recognisable.
Other posts on this topic seem to refer to previous operating systems.

I used the process outlined here successfuly just now:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudtm.html
I am running Mavericks. Things I learned or to clarify/amplify what he says (at the URL I just listed):
    * If you have partial data saved in Calendar now, I highly recommend you export and save it as an .ics file so you won't lose anything.
    * Make sure you close Calendar before trying to restore.
    * To restore Calendar files, go back to the date you want to restore in Time Machine, and in your home folder (or whatever you may have renamed it), go to Library > Calendar. Highlight ALL files in this folder. The Restore button should turn white in the bottom right of the Time Machine and hit that. It will move them all into your calendar.
    * Follow his procedure otherwise. When you import the old data into your newly created On My Mac version of your calendar, it will say there is a "new event" or message and ask you where you want to put it. That would be the newly created calendar you just set up chosen off the list. It's pretty obvious but his directions didn't say so I like to be explicit with details.
    * I found that calendars I had created since losing my old ones were not overwritten or lost when I followed the above procedure.

  • How many ways to restore from time machine backup

I inadvertantly reformated an external hard drive with my iPhoto library.  I have it backed up with time machine but am having trouble getting to the backup from time machine while iphoto is open.  Never shows any backups.
There is device called Time Machine Backups in Finder. From there I follow a path backups.backupdb/<computer name>/2012-06-02-222911/Pictures/Pictures/iPhoto Library which from the size and date modified looks like my iPhoto Library.  Can I simply copy this file to my newly formatted drive to restore?  Is there someplace that explains in greater detail than help what the meaning of the device "Time Machine Backups" and the contents are?

Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

I can't imagine anything TMwise not covered.

  • How do I restore iBooks from time machine backup?

through the Genius Bar I had to erase my iMacs harddrive. So far I have reinstalled iTunes, which is over a TB in size, and Safari, mail and calendars restored automatically from iCloud.
MY trouble is I can't find iBooks on the disc I used as a time machine backup. I had over a thousand items in iBooks and really need it back!  I was surprised it didnt back up when I plugged my iPad into iTunes and put everything from my iPad back to the computer.
    THanks!

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iBooksX
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Enter Time Machine and restore the selected item from a snapshot.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Lion ate my Entourage folders. How to import to Mail from Time Machine backup?

    Hello,
I upgraded to Lion after doing a Time Machine backup.  Entourage is now not supported and I'm up and running on Mail except I don't have my old e-mails that I stored in subfolders.  Many were important/current items that I need, help!

Ok so after you entered the Terminal command, did you open Finder and see your user Library folder? If so, you should be able to find your Mail folder inside Library. You should then be able to open Time Machine by right clicking the Time Machine icon in the upper right part of your menu bar and selecting Enter Time Machine. Once inside Time Machine you should be able to navigate to your user Library folder then the Mail folder.

  • How do I restore RSS feeds from Time Machine (OS X Lion)

I inadvertently deleted some messages from a RSS feed in Mail.
It seems that they are located in /users/*username*/library/mail/v2/RSS.
I entered Time Machine and navigated the this directory in a backup and selected 'Restore'.
It seemed to work but when I went back into Mail, nothing had changed.
I tried earlier backups but the same...
Any one have any ideas how to accomplish this?
    Many thanks,
    Jeff

Try with Mail open and active, then enter TM. You should be in the Mail window within TM. Select the RSS folder and back up in time until you see the messages. Then select the messages and hit Restore.

  • How to recover safari history from time machine?

    Hi guys,
I need your help ... I use time machine for the backup and I cancelled the history of Safari few days ago and now I need to recover it.
Where and how can I find it among the time machine files?
I have already read some suggestions in the web that told me to find it in the user/Library/Safari/History but I can't find any Safary folder in my Library :-(
    Many thanks in advance

Triple-click the text on the line below to the clipboard, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Safari/History.plist
Quit Safari. Disable Safari synchronization in iCloud, if applicable.
    Select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "History.plist" selected. Restore the file from a backup that predates the unwanted changes. If you disabled sync, re-enable it and test.

  • How to move iTunes library from time machine backup to new user

I recently pruchased a new imac and woiuld like to move my entire itunes and iphoto library to a new user I set up for the new computer. I used time machine to backup my old computer (a Macbook pro I purchased in 2007), but it just transferred the exact dektop I had on the laptop, and I cannot access any of my files from the new user. So at this point I need to start with transferring the two previously mentioned sets of files to the new user, and then I also need to know how to set my computer to default to the new user when it first boots up instead of it starting up with the time machine backed up user as it does now. Thanks!

I forgot to mention the iMac is running snow leopard and macbook pro is Mountain Lion
