How to recover tabs after accidentally grouping then closing a tab group

As far as I could tell, there's no way to retrieve tabs closed by closing a tab group. They weren't in "Recently closed tabs" or "Recently closed windows". Considering there was no warning asking if you'd like to close all these tabs without being able to get them back, it's pretty annoying.

Only two data recovery programs I know of fit the bill:
Subrosasoft Filesalvage
Prosoft Data Rescue
Both run booted from CD.
If neither helps you may need an expensive data recovery firm.
In the future always backup your data*:

  • How do get rid of a tab group without closing the tabs? How do I take tabs out of a group?

I accidentally put all my tabs in one group. I'd like to get rid of the group without closing all the tabs in it; in other words, to undo putting all the tabs in one group. It would be useful to know how to remove a tab from a group without closing the tab, accidentally putting a tab in the wrong group will probably be a common error that needs to be easily undone.

  • Saved my Photoshop file after merging layers then closed Photoshop, can I restore back to how I had it?

    Hello,
I saved a really important client Photoshop file after merging layers then closed Photoshop, can I restore back to how I had it before I merged the layers? or just back a day or two..it's been a couple hours.

No, unless… you are on a Mac and have Time Machine backups, or can restore your Windows box back to an earlier poit in time.
But there's nothing within the Photoshop application itself to help you once you save and close a file,

How to recover Contacts after MobileMe to iCloud upgrade?

I assume that the regular backups of the contacts and calendar only work on a Mac
No, you can backup contacts and calendars on a Windows PC. There are many backup options for PCs, but you would've had to set one up. Don't you backup any of the data on your PC?
Your recommendation is that I restroe my entire iPhone from the last iTunes backup to recover these files?
That's really your only option with no other backups available. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
There's no guarantee that the iTunes Backup will include all your contacts, as noted in the support article above, you're supposed to maintain backups of the contacts in the contact manager you sync with.

How do I set Safari to prompt before closing multiple tabs OR reopen all of the closed tabs when when I relaunch the application?  The "Reopen all windows from last session" is unselectable.

It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
*when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
*when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
#If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work

  • How to recover photos after restoring iPod touch?

Yesterday, there was an update for the iOS 6, I believe. When I pressed the update button, a message popped up saying that there was a problem with my iPod touch 4G and that I need to restore it. I had absolutely no idea why that message would pop up in the first place because my iPod was working just fine. But I couldn't update my iPod to the newest version if I didn't do what iTunes says... so I was about to restore my iPod, but then I was worried that all of my photos would disappear. So I decided to update my iOS later so that I could transfer all my files on to my computer. I then unplugged my iPod, and tried to turn it on but the home screen wouldn't pop - no matter what I did, all the screen showed was an itunes icon on top with a USB plug-in cord at the bottom. So I had no choice but to restore my iPod. The thing is, once I restored my iPod and all, my photos were all gone and I did not use iCloud as a back-up since a few months ago. All of my recent photos are now gone and I have no idea how to recover them. I've tried programs that aim to recover deleted photos, but they didn't work.
Is there a way to recover photos after restoring the iPod Touch?

    Hello,
It is very important to backup your device to the computer before updating or restoring.
You can restore your device to a previous backup, all the photos that were there when you made the backup should return with it, but I'm afraid that any photos taken or saved after the last backup are unrecoverable.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I prevent firefox from switching tab groups when closing a tab?

I really like the tab groups feature, as it helps cut down on the number of tabs I have open at once. The problem is that when I close a tab, I sometimes get shunted to another random tab group. It is then a pain to get back to where I was before. Is there a way to force Firefox to choose among the current tab group for a tab to open?

This problem persists in Firefox 5.0 on all of my computers (Windows 7, OS X 10.6, and *any* Linux distro). It would be nice if Firefox was forced to remain within a single tab group until no more tabs remain. Also, if we have pinned tabs, closing the last non-pinned tab should select the nearest pinned tab, without switching tab groups.
This issue is pretty annoying. It would be nice to see a remedy. For reference, here is another post with the same issue: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/828677

  • Restored tabs after a crash are very old tabs, not my last session: how to fix this?

Whenever Mozilla crashes, which is often, my most recent session is NOT restored!! I get the oops page with 2 options: restore session or start new. I click restore session and instead of bringing me back where I was with the video I was watching that crashed in the middle, it brought me to about 12 videos prior! :-/
Can you guys fix this on your end? Surely it must be a Firefox glitch as this is new of this week: all 3 times my internet has crashed as done this whereas in the past, I'd be restored right where I left off. This is a huge problem: I nearly had ebay automatically purchase the same thing again due to reopening to a purchase page tab that had ALREADY BEEN CLOSED and my newer tabs from session that crashed with all my work (composing at blog or forum posts) are nowhere to be found. HELP, please!

If you experience one or more of the following problems with Firefox 23+:
    * after a crash, Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session does not restore the last session, but restores the session before that one;
    * YouTube videos always start muted,
    then try this:
    # In the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/awesome-bar-find-your-bookmarks-history-and-tabs Location bar] type '''about:config''' and press <Enter>.
    # In the Search box at the top, type '''browser.sessionstore'''.
    # In the resulting grid, double-click on all lines shown in '''bold''', to set their ''Status'' to '''default'''.
    # In particular, verify that ''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'' has been set to '''true'''.

  • Windows 7 64-bit Adobe Reader 9.3 and IE8 - Opening PDF in tab and then closing said tab causes IE8

I've been running Win7 64-bit for quite some time now and only up until a few weeksa go started to have problems with Adobe Reader continuing to ask me how I wanted to read a document and to click here to save the settings and not ask me again.  The check box never worked and it would continue to ask me constantly every time I opened up a new PDF file.
I finally figured out how to get rid of the nagging dialog box but now each and every time I open up a new tab with a PDF file in it and then close the tab, IE8 crashes and tries to recover the tab.  This never happened before.
What is causing this and how do I fix this?  Please advise.
Upgraded to 9.3 this morning and problem remains.  Tried uninstalling all traces of Adobe Reader and reinstalling but still no dice.
Problem also happens at home on a similar computer running Win 7 64-bit and running an older version of Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

    Try this:
Right click on the IE8 icon in the taskbar. A menu pops ups up. Right click again on "Internet Explorer". Then left click on "Run as administrator". I had a different problem with Reader and this solved the problem. The problem I had was I could not save pdf files in IE8. This solved that problem.

  • How to recover a playlist accidentally deleted in iTunes 10

Could someone PLEASE HELP ME on "How do I recover a playlist that I accidentally deleted in iTunes 10?

Addressing data loss problems always brings up matters of contention, since as-is your drive technically has the data on it and is currently at its most-recoverable state. Anything further you do to the drive (even standard use) will push it further away from this "most-recoverable" state, so if the data is vitally important (e.g., single copies of crucial financial, medical, or research documents), then the advice I'd give is to shut the system down as fast as possible, and take it into a reputable data recovery service center to have the drive's data restored.
On the other hand, there are some routines you can try to hopefully recover the data, and even restore the drive. Of course various recovery tools like Prosoft Data Rescue can scour the drive surface for file types and offer means to restore them, and disk utilities can sometimes repair a faultly partition. In this case, I'd recommend you try the tool "testdisk" which is built to recover missing partitions. I've used it once, and it was successful, but have not had extensive experience with it: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
I'd recommend you read through the site and its step-by-step guides to see how best to use the tool, before giving it a go.

  • How to recover firefox after pressing reset button?

I have pressed "reset Firefox" button. After this, I lost my bank certificate. How can I recover it?

If you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some of your data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data).
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious to avoid carrying over the problem.
You can copy the cer8.db file from the Old Firefox Data folder on the desktop to the current Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • How to recover file after battery exhaustion

How do I recover unsaved files after battery exhaustion? Before my snow leopard installation, when I replug power after battery exhaustion, the system would restart and resume the desktop with my working files. After I installed snow leopard, the system simply went for a complete reboot every time I replug power after battery died, and thus I couldn't find the files I worked on unless I saved them. How do I find/recover the unsaved files?
I use macbook and snow leopard. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

I think you are seriously confused about terminology, as your post doesn't make a lot of sense. Rebooting refers to the act of restarting the Mac, just as if you turned off the machine and then turned it back on again. It restarts the system from scratch (ie, with a "fresh desktop").
Sleep is a completely different thing. It allows the machine to stay on while cutting power to as many components as possible. This allows the machine to look like it's turned off, but it retains its state and wakes up with all the same apps/windows open.
If you are putting your machine to sleep and finding later that it has not retained the state, as you seem to be saying, that means the battery has died and the machine shut down. Not a nice, gentle shut down, like when you choose Apple -> Shut Down, but an abrupt, kick-in-the-head sort of shut down that has the potential to do damage to your system software. Not to mention that you'll lose unsaved changes to open documents. This is a problem, and you need to address it.

  • How do i get back tabs after f/f is closed by a crash?

After each of the last few F/F updates and after a few Windows updates, my open session was reset. When I look for system restore I cannot find the b****y thing. And this really p****s me off!!
Since F/F has recently been "improved" (like hell it has!!! - even the menu bar is hidden by default amongst most other useful items), I'm guessing Session Restore is also deplaced to improve "my F/F experience".
Can someone please tell me how to return to my unimproved experience as provided by F/F before version 24-ish particularly how to restore tabs?

Try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.
