How to recover Windows Vista on Satellite A210?

My friend bought Thoshiba Satellite A210. The machine is running slow, so he wants to reinstall Vista.
Can we recover it from hard drive?
He does not have any CD coming with the laptop.
Thanks.

The A210 was definitely delivered with the Toshiba Recovery DVD which would help you to get the notebook back to the factory settings.
As far as I know the A210 was not equipped with the HDD Recovery option and therefore the Recovery DVD should be in the package.
If you dont have the Recovery DVD anymore, then you could order it here:

  • Drivers error recovering Windows Vista on Satellite A200

    Hello,
I replaced the HD of my Toshiba Satellite A200. I replicate the original disk partitioning in the new disk and installed the original SO (Windows Vista) from the recovery disk.
Everything went well. However, when I started Windows for first time, it was unable to end the autoconfiguration phase. An error message appeared on the screen: it had been unable to find all the drivers that it needs.
After accepting the error message, windows rebooted the system without giving me any chance.
Can anyone tell me what went wrong with the Windows recovery process?
How can I add the drivers needed or skip the autoconfiguration process to do it later?

    > No, if you want to add the driver while windows installation and setup process, you have to use an Microsoft Windows disk Toshiba recovery disk contains an image which is NOT the same like a common installation disk!
That's completely right. However, after copying the image to the HDD, the system reboots and loads Vista for first time. Then, the system starts a non-interactive autoconfiguration process (it shows a label similar to "Please, wait...").
Eventually, it shows an error message and shuts down.
This leads me to think that the image copy process went well (the system loads without trouble) but then Windows loads a wrong driver to manage the HDD and crashes.
I would like to know if I can change any option in a configuration file (after copying the image in the HDD and before loading the OS for first time) to make this process interactive or to load a different set of drivers to manage the HDD. Does anyone have a clue?

  • Satellite L350D - How to recover Windows?

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my L350D and I removed Windows Vista (and all of my files) by mistake..There was not a windows recovery cd rom when i bought the L350D. What should i do to recover windows vista? Is there any way to have Windows Vista again on my computer without buying the software for a second time? Thank you very much

    Hey,
    > There was not a windows recovery cd rom
Yes because you have to create this disk yourself using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disk creator but everything about this is mentioned in your user manual.
    > What should i do to recover windows vista?
There is only one way to restore the original settings from Toshiba: Its Toshiba recovery disk and if you dont have it you can order it here:

  • How to split Windows Vista DVD image?

I would like to ask how to split windows vista DVD image into specific size using Windows PE Tools Command Prompt.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
You can try the following method:
    1.   Install UltraISO and Windows AIK.
    Windows AIK:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=94bb6e34-d890-4932-81a5-5b50c657de08&DisplayLang=en
    2.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD and extract install.wim under the Sources folder to the local hard drive, for example: D:\Vista\sources\install.wim.
    3.   Run Windows PE Tools Command Prompt in elevated mode and type the following command:
    imagex /split D:\vista\sources\install.wim D:\temp\install.swm 380
Note: D:\vista\sources\install.wim is the name and location of the file which will be split from. D:\temp\install.swm is the name and location of the target file. 380 is each target file size.
Note: Before doing this, make sure partition D has at least 5GB of free disk space.
    After that, you will get 6 target files named install.swm, install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm in D:\temp.
    4.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD. Delete install.wim under the Sources folder and drag install.swm to this folder. Save the whole disk to the local hard drive and we will get CD1.
    5.   Open UltraISO and create a new folder named Sources. Drag install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm to the Sources folder. Save install2.swm to the local hard drive and we will get CD2. Use the same method to create CD3, CD4, CD5 and CD6.
    6.   Burn the iso files to CDs.
The steps above can be a little complex. I recommend obtaining a DVD drive to install Windows Vista.
    Hope it helps.

  • How can I unistall Vista from Satellite L300-11Q and install Windows XP

    Hello!
Help please: How can I unistall Windows Vista from my notebook and install Windows XP?
Should I do something with discs and BIOS before it, or I can just format disc C and then install XP from CD-disc?
How can I make a recovery disc before uninstalling Vista?
    Thank you very much!

    Greetings,
I had such a hard time finding exact information on downgrading Vista to XP recently, I'm posting this on several different threads in hopes I can save others some time and effort; sorry for cross-posting.
When installing XP over Vista, instead of worrying over getting Intel Matrix Storage, streamlining a CD with it and SPII, blah, blah, blah, why not just go into BIOS at startup and switch the SATA setting under Advanced Disk Management from (whatever the default is) to "Compliant"? This allows the XP install to see the drive as an IDE, (actually ATA), and POOF! Your problems are solved with a LOT less hassle. (The XP install disk DOES have to have Service Pack II on it.)
I just did this over the past weekend, and it worked great. (Actually I didn't have much of a choice, as the processor on my Toshiba is an AMD, not Intel, so all the downloading and configuring CD's with matrx storage in the world wouldn't have done me a bit of good; the AMD processor "chipset" is contained within the graphics driver setup.)
Save yourselves a lot of time and headaches and forget the whole matrix storage thing. As far as I can tell it would also work with an Intel processor, but since you can "turn SATA off", IMHO it's a huge waste of time mucking around with the matrix storage. If you want full SATA configuration after all's said and done, you can always go back in and turn the BIOS switch back to SATA after you have XP up and running and have just used the executable to install the matrix drivers.

  • How to install Windows XP in Satellite Pro L300-1A9?

    Hi!,
first of all, sorry if I'm asking something really obvious, but I'm quite new with this issues...also sorry for my English, I'm not native.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1A9 with Windows Vista preinstalled but the thing is I prefer Windows XP. I have tried to install it but it won't work.
I have read lots of posts and comments about this issue in this forum and also in the web. The problem is I don't know if the procedure and the drivers to download are the same for all the L300 models. Mine is L300 1A9.
Anyone could give me some extra simply instructions (I'm a beginner) about how to do solve this problem or any link relating this issue? I have seen many of them, but none about this model L300 1A9.
    Thank you very much!!

    Hi Lars_3,
thank you very much for your reply and interest.
When I say that installing Windows XP doesn't work, I mean that my laptop has Windows Vista but I have tried to reinitialized (format) it to install Windows XP, but when I run the Windows XP (original) disk an error message pops up and I can't continue the installation.
I have had a look to the Toshiba's downloads link you posted, but there's no mention to the L series model. The options available are for M-Series and Net-Book series, so I wonder if it is possible to use one of them for my Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1A9?
Thank you very much for your kind help!

You should order the recovery discs from Toshiba.
Toshiba Europe Backup Media Online Shop
After you have restored the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, you should have the recovery utilities and partitions. See the A350 User's Manual (attached) for how to recover after that.

Since you have data you want to recover, and in re-reading your first post, let's see if we can get your system started again.
On power up, as soon as you see the Toshiba logo, repeatedly press the 'F8' key to try to enter the Advanced Boot Options (ABO) menu. In the ABO menu, if the option is available, select 'Repair your computer', then select 'Startup Repair'
How to Boot to the Advanced Boot Options in Vista
    Advanced startup options
What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
Let the Startup Repair run, this could take a while. When it is finished try to reboot into Windows again.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • How different is Windows Vista run on Macbook Pro with 128MB and 256MB VRAM

    Hi guys,
I am going to buy a MacBook Pro soon. But I am struggling picking the right model for me due to that I am not sure how differently Windows Vista is run on them.
I don't use much CPU intensive programs. CPU power is not an issue to me. RAM? I will install 2GHz of it regardless which model I will buy. The only thing worries me is the VRAM.
I would love to have smooth experience with the Aero effects. So how much will the difference in VRAM really make?

At this time Windows Vista is not fully supported by using Apples Boot Camp program. It has been done but people that I personally know that have done it have not much success. I currently am running Windows Vista (non beta) in a parallels session and it runs quite nicely. But I don't get the Aero effects. I would certainly suggest 256MB VRAM Microsoft suggests 128 and their suggestions are for minimal performance. 256 will give you the best performance. Hope this helps.

  • Recover Window Vista

    Hello.
I have an laptop Lenovo N500 and I want to recover the original OS from Lenovo special partition.
On the laptop it is right now installed another Window Vista (not the original) and i don't have any drivers or lenovo care software installed. In my computer there are 2 partitions SERVICEV003 (D and Lenovo (E. I read that in those partitions are the recover files.
What should I do to reinstall or recover the original Window Vista from those partitions. I have tried by pressing F10 on boot loading and i got a black screen Edit Boot Options with these messages
Edit Window boot options for: Microsoft Windows Vista
    Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
    Partition 2
    Hard disk: 3ad....
    [/NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
I don't have any recover dvd, just that 2 partitions. Can I reinstall the original Windows?

    Welcome to the forums
Since you have installed another copy of vista,i am not sure whether you will be able to recover your OEM version. The best option might be to contact technical support and explain your situation, ask them for a recovery DVD set for your model.
    Cheers and regards,

  • How can I change the language in Windows Vista on Satellite A300-1CO

last summer I was in Portugal and I bought a Toshiba laptop A300-1CO hoping that we can to change the language in either English or romaine without reinstall Windows,
    Can someone help me?

    Hi buddy
    Unfortunately, this is not possible.
Its a Portuguese Vista OS preinstalled and you cannot change the language.
If you want to use a English Vista the you have to buy an full original Vista OS in English language.
If you would use the Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate then you could download a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).
But as a Home Premium user you cannot use the (MUI).

  • How to reinstall windows 7 on Satellite L505D-S5983 when hard drive had to be replaced

I recently had my Satellite L505D-S5983 laptop's hard drive die due to disk failures and had to replace the hard drive. Because the laptop is older I am not able to read the activation key from the laptop and do not have a recovery partition from the dead drive. How can I authorize a version of windows 7 on the new hard drive and install it?

    Downloads here.
Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here.
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 70 of the User's Guide.

  • How to install Windows 8 on Satellite C855-21W - No disk

    Hello,
Recently the HDD from my SATELLITE C855-21W crashed. All Data wear lost.
    Serial: YC273011R
Now i would like to reinstall Windows 8.
But i have no CD /DVD and all partitions on the HDD are gone.
How can i reinstall Win 8 on the Laptop again?
Where can i get a DVD?
    Thanks

    Hi
This is pity but HDD can always start to malfunction and therefore its advisable to create a Recovery Disk before starting to use the notebook.
However, now you cannot create such recovery disk because the files are lost.
    Now you have two options:
    1) You can install the Windows 8 using Microsoft Win 8 disk (you will need to purchase Win 8 if you dont have it). The essential Toshiba drivers could be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page
    2) The second option is much easier: you could order the Toshiba Recovery disk from this page http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and could set the notebook back to the factory settings.

  • How do I remove Vista from Satellite U400 PSU44E and install Win XP

Because much of my specialist software is designed to work with XP pro I need to remove Vista Home Premium from my U400 and install XP Pro. As others have found with other Toshiba models simply placing XP disk in the DVD drive results in 'the dreaded blue screen' with error code 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, etc etc) and comments about hard drive properly configured / check for viruses/run Chdsk/F to check for corruption.
Changing HDD BIOS from AHCI to compatability mode allows XP disk to load and run as far as 'Press enter to load XP' but pressing 'Enter' does nothing; pressing other keys has no effect either and the only way out I have found is to press and hold down the On/Off button. Also re changing from 'AHCI' to 'Compatability ' there are many comments on other Internet fora suggesting that using Compatability mode makes disk access much slower than the AHCI mode. However despite searching the Web using Tosh HDD Model Referencee No (MK3252GSX) I cannot find a XP ATA driver to nLite into XP before trying again.
Can anyone tell me a procedure they have used to strip off Vista and replace it with XP Pro on te U400 PSU44E please?

A friend of me has a Satellite U400 too. He installed Windows XP in AHCI mode and he doesnt have any problems.
As Juan28 posted you can integrate the drivers by using nLite. This tool is freeware and pretty easy to use. You need only the original Microsoft installation disk and the SATA drivers that you can download on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
If you dont want nLite you need an external FDD. After booting from CD you must press F6 to load the drivers from the FDD.
I prefer nLite because so I dont need an external FDD.
Furthermore I have read in the forum that the AHCI mode is a little bit faster as the compatible mode but in compatible mode you dont need any additional drivers for SATA.
