How to recover without backup?

My ThinkPad T43 got virus, I formated it and installed Windows XP Professional. Then try to recover it to manufactury status, but can't install the Rescue and Recovery file.  It says " can not find the required file for installing Rescue and Recovery, can't continue. Make sure the correct .tvt file is in the same folder where the installing package is located."
Please help! by the way, I don't have a backup file.

Hi imjscn,
I don't know what you are trying to establish here nonetheless RnR from Windows does not put thinkpad to factory settings. Only preboot RnR has this ability. If you did not delete the recovery partition wile formatting, you can subsequently recover it through following method:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-54483
Hope it helps.

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

  • Satellite L300-110 - How to recover without loosing data on the HDD?

    Hello all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110
The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without lose any data located in the hard disk drive?

    Hello
A recovery installation from the recovery disk without loosing data on the HDD isnt possible. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so you must backup the data first.
The only way I know is to use the HDD recovery function in the advanced boot menu. The HDD recovery function formats only the first partition of the notebook and all data that you have stored on the second partition are available after recovery.

  • How to recover DVD backup of user data

Under windows 7 home  premium  I did a backup of user data to 25 DVDs before restoring the original OS from the Restore partition.  Now I want to restore user data from the DVDs. I can not find anything under recovery and restore. but I did find a EXE called RecoveryMrg on the 1st DVD.  Clicking on it I get an hourglass when I put the cursor over the window of files on the dvd.
In another forum post it suggest this should take a while. Well it has been a couple of hours.
On the resource monitor DISK tab I do not see any activity to the DVD drive. (But I am not sure it should show op there)
Is this long time normal? Or is this the wrong way to restore the user files?
    Thanks
    This question was solved.

Hi C_J_W. What program did you use to create the backups, Windows Backup? Here are a few documents on the topic, which will hopefully point you in the right direction:
Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using Microsoft Windows Backup and Restore
    Restoring Files from Backup
Let me know if that helps.

  • How to recover old backups

    Hi Guys,
Started time capsule about 1.5 years ago. Backsup my macbook pro daily. 3 days ago I upgraded my hard drive from 320GB to 500GB. Now I realise that my previous backup files dont exist.I know its in there somewhere because the time capsule has about 140GB space left.
My question is , when I enter time capsule , the dates dont go back to the time when I first started the back up.So how do I get access to it?
Appreciate if you guys can help.

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

  • NB100-12A: How to recover without a disk?

I have had my NB100 for nearly a year now and all was fine. I recently got a virus that no matter what Anti-virus I used I could not get rid of. Yesterday my notebook stopped booting into windows altogether. It will not even boot into safe mode.
I would like to do a full system recovery however I am currently travelling around the U.S and I left my recovery CD in Ireland.
So my question is Can I recover my system using a recovery partition on the HDD or is there a way to download the recovery software, copy it onto a usb key, and boot from there?
Any help is greatly appriciated, Thanks

    Hi
Im not sure if this is possible on you NB100.
Usually the HDD recovery could be started pressing F8 button (while powering on)
There you should see the option Repair my Computer. Choose this and then you should see Toshiba HDD recovery.
But note; this is procedure for common notebooks equipped with HDD recovery Im not quite sure if your NB100 support this!

    Regards,
Adnan Hamdus Salam. If your database`s last shutdown was clean(SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE) then you can open database as
    1) Backup current database(take cold backup)
    2) if you use pfile then edit it and UNDO_MANAGEMENT=MANUAL also if you use spfile then ALTER SYSTEM SET UNDO_MANAGEMENT=MANUAL SCOPE=SPFILE then
    3)SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE and STARTUP MOUNT
    4) Now ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '/misc/live_tbs/undotbstest.dbf' OFFLINE DROP
    5) ALTER DATABASE OPEN
After that you can create new undo tablespace and set UNDO_MANAGEMENT=AUTO
