How to recovery my Satellite P205

Hi everybody
I have a Satellite P205-S6247. I had problems with my Windows Vista and I would like to recover the machine to the "factory" state, but the machine did not come with the recovery CDs.
I've seen that there is a small partition in the HD (about 4GB), is that partition for recovery purposes? How can I restore the machine?
Thanks in advance.
Guillermo

Hello
I presume you have an US notebook model. Am I right about that?
Just short comment: usually the recovery DVD is delivered with most of notebook models. In case that recovery DVD is not delivered there is maybe an option to create own recovery DVD media for further handling. Please check all documents you got with your notebook. Maybe somewhere you can find info about that.

Does anyone know how to replace the DVD Burner in a Toshiba Satellite P205-S769?  I am assuming that I need to remove the keyboard in order to get to the drive.  Is this similar to other Satellite models where I could simply remove the keyboard securing strip?

    You assume incorrectly.

  • Satellite P205 - mouse activation of FN display

I am using a Satellite P205 with Vista OS. The Toshiba FN functions are displayed by either pressing the FN key or moving the mouse over the top of the display screen. It is the mouse over activation that bothers me.
Often enough, in general use, my mouse will enter the area that triggers the display and if I use the left mouse button the associated function is activated. If I am working quickly this will happen unintentionally. I am finding this increasingly annoying and would like to disable the mouse over activation. If I want to use the FN option, I want to do so with the FN key.
Does anyone know how to disable the mouse over display?

To be honest I am wondering you ask this. I know, it sounds now stupid but I will tell you why.
If you don't like some function it is logic to check all available options for something.
So if you open Settings for Flash Cards you will find one option there *Allow the mouse to bring up the cards.*
Just remove the check mark for this option and the Flash Cards will be shown when you use FN key only.
Bye and if you have more questions you are welcome. ;)

  • Satellite p205, hd wiped clean,missing os,formatting

I have a satellite p205,32 bit with vista home premium. Had "Hacked by Godzilla" & wanted to get rid of it. I called toshiba tech support for help & they said the only way to be rid of it was to do a full recovery. Sold me the restore disk set. When I ran the disk it wiped my HD clean. Now I get a message "missing operating system" error code "08-064B-0000". When running the 1st disk again I get the missing operating system and a pop-up telling me that I first need to format hard drive (C). After calling Toshiba tech support again the person tells me that I need to take it to a Toshiba service center and they will fix it for a cost of $400. I didn't mind kicking the $25 for the disk set, although I wish I wouldn't have now, but the $400 for them to fix it I do mind. I didn't like the FIX the disk did for $25...I'm not so sure I want to upgrade to the $400 FIX ! Need some help with the formatting...any suggestions? Thanks in advance.......

    From the Toshiba manual:
If you need to recover your computer to its default factory state, you
can rebuild the system using your Hard Drive Recovery Utilities.
To recover your hard disk drive using the utilities burned to CDs or
DVDs (refer to “Creating Recovery CDs/DVDs” on page 59):
1 Insert the first recovery CD or DVD into your optical drive and
    power on the computer.
2 When the initial screen displays, press F12.
    The boot menu appears.
3 Using the arrow keys, select the CD/DVD option and press
Enter. The system will boot up to the Toshiba Recovery Wizard
    screen.
Please refer to “Hard Disk Drive Recovery options” on
page 61, to explain the available recovery options.
    quote:
The following are the available hard disk drive recovery options:
❖ Hard Disk Drive Recovery using the recovery partition
❖ Recovering the original factory image (recommended recovery
    method)
    ❖ Erasing the hard disk
❖ Recovering the C: partition of the HDD without changing the
    current partition size
❖ Recovering the C: partition with a user specified size
❖ Hard Disk Drive Recovery using the Recovery media
❖ Checking the HDD operating status

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite P205

Gents, is it possible to increase RAM memory to 6 or 8 GB Windows 7 in the Satellite P205-S6337?
Can it use Windows 7 , operating in 64 bits ?
    Thank you

Maximum RAM capacity for this notebook is 4096MB.
Generally speaking you can use 64bit OS but check at first if this model is supported for 64bit operating systems. Without support there is no sense to install 64bit OS version due to missing drivers, tools and utilities.

  • Memory upgrade failed -satellite P205

Satellite P205-S6287 has 2 GB RAM and specs say two slots and should support 4 GB max. I installed new RAM and laptop turns on very briefly, no screen, just power on light and a disk rumble for 1-2 seconds then nothing else with both RAM slots loaded.  It will start normally with either one of the two RAM slots loaded, but when I add the second sodimm I get the behavior above. Updated BIOS to 1.70 from 1.30. Running Vista. Any suggestions?

  • Failed Recovery of Satellite C855

I have created Recovery DVDs for this product and they don't seem to work. It is for Windows 8 but booting from the DVD fails. It boots the DVD and then presents a Windows 8 type screen which says "Recovery - your PC needs to be repaired" with "a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed" and an error code of 0xc0000185 (these are all zeroes). The laptop is unbootable. Using a Windows 7 DVD I can get to the recovery concole - I haven't tried it but this and a Ubuntu Live DVD seem to point at a failure in the Recovery DVD.
I don't have a hard disk recovery partition but I have no reason to suspect theres anything wrong with the DVDs I created. Other computers can read them without any problems.
Is these any way I can boot this system? I am loathe to pay 30 quid for a couple of recovery DVDs from Toshiba when I don't think I've done anything wrong. Has anyone solved this?

Problem with recovery discs is quite simple: either it works or not. If recovery disc doesnt work you cannot do anything about it.
In your posting I didn't understand how far recovery installation goes but if you cannot start OS anymore or start HDD recovery installation there is a big problem. You can have factory settings again using recovery disc only. Other solution is own OS installation but I would not do this because in this case you must pay new product key.
Believe me the best solution for you is to order new recovery disc. It costs 30 Euro but you will have original recovery image and this version must not be activated.
    >...when I don't think I've done anything wrong
Generally speaking you are right but if created recovery disc is not usable what else you can do.

  • Toshiba Satellite P205-S6267 - DVD Burner unable to read DVDs only CDs

    Hi,
Trying to reinstall Vista on my Toshiba Satellite P205-S6267 laptop but the optical drive will not read any DVDs at all only CDs. So I'm unable to install Vista which is only on DVD but WinXP on CD is detected and installs OK except for XP driver issues which makes loading XP useless. I have been at this problem for few days scouring various internet forums which mostly speak to the registry issue with lower and upper filters. But if I can't get the OS installed then those solutions don't apply to me. I need help. Anyone..anyone???

    Satellite P205-S6267
    You're in luck!
Your model belongs to part-number family PSPB0U, which corresponds to part-number family PSPB0E for computers made in Europe.
Go to the European download site and look up the Satellite P200 with Short Model No. PSPB0E.
When you filter on Windows XP, you'll find 36 items listed.

  • Satellite P205-S6277: Can I take off the battery and connect the power too?

I am working on my notebook Toshiba satellite P205-S6277, 80% of my time at home.
Can I take off the battery and connect the power to a backup UPS in order to make battery life longer?
I can charge it once a week.

Of course you can do this. You can remove the battery and work on AC power supply only. Be sure there is no dust on the desk and the battery place on the notebook stay clean for further usage.

Do you have data you need?  If not, just reinstall the MSE.  You can do this by burning an ISO of the image to CD and running that.  But maybe it would be faster just to open up a TAC case to see if that is the best way or if something went wrong with the hardware.

Reinstall OS X over the top of your current install. That willl replace files you have deleted and leave your personal files alone.

  • Does anyone knows how to recovery stickies in dashhoard on mac 10.7.3

    hey, everyone,
I'm wondering is there anyone knows how to recovery stickies in dashboard on mac 10.7.3
I've been research online, however the information aren't up to date,
    please help me on this,
your time and answer will be really appreciated.
    Kindly regards
    Sunny

If you're just trying to recover the data, you might be able to find it opening this file in TextEdit:
    ~/Library/StickiesDatabase
I don't know if the Dashboard widget uses the same database or not, but its worth a look. You can select and copy any useful text out of that database file if so.
Note: to see the User Library, you need to click on Finder > Go and hold down the 'option' key. You'll then see 'Library' in the menu.
