How to recreate sample basic

Hi
We deleted sample basic after we installed Essbase (11.1.1.3). Now some users want to have sample basic available to practice. Do anyone know how to recreate sample basic in Essbase?

opening the zip file it looks like all of the files are there. So from EAS create the Sample application (BSO non unicode) and then create the database Basic. Stop the application then copy all of the files in the zip into the basic directory on the server (pathing may vary based on what version you are using) but there should be an app\sample\basic directory. Then start the app and you should be good to go

Hi I am having problems accessing the sample basic database using excel, I see the sample basic in Application/Database and I get an error which states that "Unable to load database[Basic]". I get this error for all the the sample databases. The system administrator said the databases were installed with the essbase, but I still can't retrieve them. It's not a problem with the Add-In.The database was not Installed correctly. You need to rebuild the Sample Basic application. Can you check to see if all the DB files were installed.Look in the C:\essbase\app\Sample\Basic directory you should see these files, or atleast the outline.Basic.otlBasic.indBasic.esmBasic.tctEss000001.INDEss000001.PAGDo you know how to do this? Simple Qustion: No data shown in the retrieval of Sample.Basic database

I'm a very beginner to Essbase, I'm getting started with essbase add-in tutorial, when I retrieve the data from Sample.Basic, it only returned the dimension names, there is no data in the intersections, it show #Missing in the cells, the tutorial shows there are data in the sample.basic database, why am I not able to get it displayed?, thank you so much
the following is how it displayed after I retrieved the sample.basic:

Maybe I did not configure the option items correctly?

Just a comment about my nemesis' note:
You need to load data and potentially calculate it (I know Cameron you don't but it does not hurt).^^^The reason you don't need to calculate the data is because CALCDAT.txt already contains the consolidated results. Glenn is correct in saying that calculation doesn't hurt, but there's really no point.
FWIW, the reason there's no point is because CALCDAT.txt is a full export of Sample.Basic, that is, every valued data point is contained within the data file. Thus, when calculation occurs it just overwrites the data values that were already loaded.
As we are talking about a second or so to do the calculation, this matters not a whit, but I thought it might be instructive when you finally get to a real database. Full exports, when loaded back into an empty Essbase database, do not need to be recalculated.

Error loading Sample Basic in Essbase

Hi,
Has anyone had this issue? I tried to load the data for Sample Basic DB in Essbase in a Windows Vista 32 pc and got this error msg:
Database Basic loaded
Database East loaded
Database Xchgrate loaded
Database Interntl loaded
Unable to Connect to Database [East]
What does the last line mean and how do I fix it? I didn't encounter this when I was running it on a different machine (XP). All I've done was run the Calcdat.txt file after choosing load data for Sample db on server. Thx.

First of all Vista/XP both are not supported OS for Essbase server; though XP may work fine but for better results we stick with only Win 2000/Win 2003.
Else you can continue with XP and if you have same issue with XP then please post it we will together solve it.

Windows is not an option for me. I like your idea of using a counter output -- it may be helpful as I am getting ramped up, but my application will eventually require both timer outputs.
I have a legacy C application written for Macintosh, and I am in the process of moving it onto OS X. So my options are to use DAQmx Base, or write an in-kernel driver. I actually have already done the latter for 6024/6025 E-series boards (for another company); for this client I was hoping to use the DAQmx Base to allow an easy transition to M-series boards, without the cost of writing and supporting a low-level driver.
The specific task I am doing is relatively straightforward. I record 2 channels of AI for a short period (usually about 250 ms.) and during this time I drive 2 external digital signals. Right now, I use the 2 timer outputs, which allows precise synchronization with the output and AI sampling.
I appreciate your comments, and thanks in advance for any additional suggestions you can lob my way.

Pls suggest me "How to assign sampling procedure at plant level."
Error message is - You can not use sampling procedure here.
Not all sampling procedures can be used in this context.
Example:
Only the sampling procedures for an attributive inspection based on the
number of nonconforming units are allowed.
However I have assigned 0.05% sampling procedure in IDES system plant, which is accepted. However I am not allowed to assign this in client system..
Pls suggest me solution.

During creation of inspection plan you can assign SP at plant level, IP always at plant level
Q.Error message is - You can not use sampling procedure here.

With the conversion of the SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Builder product to SAP BusinessObjects BI workspaces, support for the universal-based visualization analytics was removed. The list of available analytics was eliminated from the module library, thereby disallowing the creation of analytics directly in BI workspaces.
As a result, analytics created previously in Dashboard Builder can be opened in BI workspaces, but they are not displayed, instead the user will see an information message.
The solution to this change is to recreate the required analytics in other SAP BusinessObjects tools, such as SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard Design or SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence. You can then substitute the new analytics for the objects created previously in Dashboard Builder.

Thanks, I am able to set the java path in windows environment and able to execute the jar command. It created a analytics2.ear file but when i try to deploy from the weblogic console it gives the following error..
[J2EE:160120]Error: The module, 'analytics.war', is declared either in the application.xml or in the weblogic-application.xml descriptor but cannot be found in the ear file.
Trying to research on the above. Any inputs are appreciated. I have the following files in my directory
1. analytics2.war
2.analytics2-ws.war
3. META-INF
They are in Analytics_war directory of windows. I am not able to use
jar -cf analytics.war -C app .
as it gives me an error that 'app\. folder does not exits. Replaced with Analytics_war assuming that it is looking to write the file to app folder still it did not work.

As an enhancement to the cube you could add a new dimension (call it "View"). Make it Dense with one stored member called input. Then add a dynamic calc member called "Round" and set the formula to round the values stored in the input member. This will let your users and/or source systems continue to load as usual (load to "Input" member), and for reporting you will have the rounded numbers. Since it's dynamic calc, there is no need for an additional consolidation, it will run on the fly. Lastly, since you made it a dense dimension with only one stored member, you do not increase your block size and your overall performance should not be impacted by the change.

No major difference.
Create capture - You are creating capture process for the first time.
Recreate capture - You are dropping capture process and creating it again..
To recreate capture process, first you have to stop associated propagation and apply process.
than stop and drop the exising capture process. You can follow the same procedure as you followed for creating the capture process initially..
See following example, followed by me for the same:
1) stop capture process

2) Stop propagation process.
Execute following command as stream administrator from primary database.

if datafie is deleted then you may add it into existing tablespace.
Try this : -
1.)sqlplus sys/xx as sysdba
2.)alter tablespace <tablespace_name> add datafile <datafile_name> size <give size>;
