How to reduce flicker on imported clips?

Clips are shot with 25p. Due to neon lights there is flicker in bright areas. How can I reduce that?

I've not tried this myself but the price is right and it's from a knowledgeable source.

  • Recording off TV - How to reduce flicker

My current job will entail recording footage off Radar Screens, and wondering firstly what type of specification will I require from a Camcorder (preferably HD) and also is there a functionality with Adobe Premiere or On-Location for this flicker to reduced/deleted. Also is it the case that if you purchase a decent camcorder no flicker will be present anyway?

Some cameras have a setting for recording CRTs. Canon cameras call it Clear Scan.
If you camera doesnt have a clear scan or equivelent function record at slower that 1/60 second shutter speed should prevent you from seeing the scan line (since the scan line should scan is less than 1/60 sec. This should be ok if you cam is tripoded

  • 16:9 ratio and imported clips from iMovie 4

I have imported clips in iMovie 4 from a miniDV with 16:9 format. iMovie 4 compressed the ratio of the images but I have been able to export back to 16:9 format with Quicktime.
I now have stepped up to iMovie HD (5) so I can work in the 16:9 format but my previously imported clips still display in iMovie in the 4:3 format.
How can I change the imported clips to 16:9 ratio to edit and create my movie. Is it possible?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Christo

I've worked it out, here it is if anyone wants to know:
Open a new project in iMovie 5, source the media files from the previos project and drag them into the clips pane of iMovie. The clips import in the 16:9 ratio. Sweet.
All the clips are duplicated, so I import the clips a few at a time and delete the clips from the original media to manage disk space.

  • I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?

I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?
I have a sony handicam and I imported the clips to iMovie and they lost quality and converted the audio to stereo. I want to import the project to final cut X and import the AVCHD in 1080p and surround sound and export the movie in bluray. Can I relink the clips without editing everything again?
    thanks!

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

  • How to reduce scrolling title flicker without reducing title resolution???

    Hello all,
so after 48 hours and around 200 pages of online forums, i've yet to find any definitive fix on my scrolling title issue-  anyone want to give it a try?
so the basic issue it flickering titles (at least for now). Based on my recent education (forums etc), and after using the advice, my basic problem comes down to not being able to reduce flicker without reducing title resolution. This is to say that the many filters do stop the flicker but they also kill the razor sharpness of my titles. I have a little over two min's of scrolling titles (single long vertical column) that flicker beyond tolerance. After realizing that FCP's title generators are limited to a little over a minute, i went to livetype and had little luck there as well. I've tried the many half fixes recommended online (boris, color, scan line, filters etc) all with little to no positive result, and so i come to you a tad tired, upset, and respectfully in request of help.
I just can't accept that a cinematic convention (scrolling titles), one alomst as old as cinema itself continues to be so problematic in the digital realm. Is their no simple or at least straight forward method for creating simple regular font scrolling titles that don't flicker or pulse on their way up the screen. good grief!

  • 8 minutes of video is 5.4GB in iMovie how to reduce?

Have an 8 minute collection of 6 different video clips .mov that take up 5.4GB! must have made a mistake when importing? Currently using imovie 10.0.3, clips were imported from avchd sony camcorder in last years version of imovie. Any ideas of how to reduce the size to a normal use of storage space....

wow that worked well, thanks. That would save alot of storage space if I could do that with all my videos... Is it still a good size to edit a movie?
Would it be possible to import in the future as Mpeg instead of the default .mov when I import in imovie. Or is that not a good idea. When I import now with the latest version of imovie the size is quite tolerable, I believe. Is 10 minutes = 1 GB alot??
maybe I should film in Mpeg but not sure if my sony hdr-cx210 can...
Just looking for a novice user friendly solution for video import

  • Importing clips from iMovie HD to FCE4

Hi. Have read with interest a couple of questions on this same issue, with the advice from Tom Wolsky seemingly being to not mix the two applications and just get stuck in with FCE. However, i'm finding FCE difficult to like/get to grips with. But more importantly, after attending some Apple onetoone sessions, it seems my Canon camcorder might be a little long in the tooth and there may be some tape slippage as I was getting time code errors when trying to import directly to FCE. The fix seemed to be to capture the footage via iMovie and import to FCE using 'show package contents' route. Having now though imported some footage from a second tape, I have some of the clips showing as Offline for some reason. Is the trick to import clips from IMovie as per Tom's suggested route on 9/8/08?

I import video from my camera into iMovie 4, because that is the last version of iMovie, I believe, that was capable of flushing unwanted video off the hard drive, and I can bring an entire tape into iMovie, trim it down for FCE, and then get rid of the unwanted footage. iMovie 6, like Final Cut Express, is a nondestructive editor and can't erase unwanted footage from the hard drive, and as you know, video uses up hard drive space FAST. To get rid of discarded edits, you either have to use iMovie 4 or Final Cut Pro.
iMovie is also much easier to import video into than Final Cut Express, with all the latter's complicated controls. With iMovie, you just plug in your camera, iMovie then says "Camera Connected," and you hit Play and Import. Stone simple. Also, in iMovie you can hear the audio as it comes in, and if I remember right (it's been a while since I did it in FCE), you can't hear your audio tracks as your video imports into FCE. Not a big deal, but an annoyance.
Once the video is in iMovie, then I cut and trim the video to get rid of all substandard/unwanted stuff, and then Empty Trash, which erases the unwanted video off the hard drive, saving mucho space over the course of a project. Otherwise, you're just stuck with the unwanted video, and all it does is fill up your hard drive. Then you export (or "Share," in iMovie parlance) your video from iMove as a QuickTime movie, and drop that QT movie into Final Cut Express's Browser. Then create your FCE project from it.
The only objection I have ever seen to this procedure is people complaining that their QuickTime movie from iMovie has to be rendered in FCE before FCE can use it, and this takes a bit of extra time. Well, that's true, unless you export your video from iMovie in a form that FCE can use natively. Then it doesn't need to be rendered at all--it's just as though you had imported it from the camera directly into FCE. Most people don't know how to set up iMovie to do that.
Here's how I do it: (this is iMovie 4; I assume other versions are the same), Select Share > QuickTime and choose Expert Settings. On the next screen, select Export: Movie to QuickTime Movie, and click the Options button. In the Movie Settings window that this brings up, on the upper (video) part of it, under the Video checkbox, click the Settings button there, and for Compression Type choose DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, and under Compressor Quality, move the slider to Best, and click OK. Under the Sound checkbox, click Settings, and then choose Linear PCM, Stereo, and 48.000 kHz for Sound Settings. Under Render Settings, choose Qualty: Best. Just below that, uncheck the "Prepare for Internet Streaming" box. Then click OK, and the window will go away, and you're ready to export.
Give the video a name, and a place to save to, then click SAVE. The QuickTime movie that results from this can be dropped straight into FCE and requires no rendering; it works just as though you had imported it directly into FCE from your camera.

  • How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?

How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?  (The clips are in a .mov format, they have been imported / converted into this format in iMovie, original files were from a JVC camcorder in some other strange format.)

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • How do you add a video clip to a slide show?

How do you add a video clip to a slide show using elements 12?

You can import some very short video clips into Photoshop and make gifs.  I can import short (10 second or so) .mvi video clips I've taken with my point and shoot camera.
Use File ->Import->Video Frames to Layers
CS3 doesn't recognize .mvi files until you enter *.* in the box, hit load, then find the file you want.
After the file has been loaded, go to Windows, and check Animation.
After the Animation bar loads, go to the right side arrow, check Make Frames from Layers.
Then Save for Web and Devices, and you've got your gif.
I find it much easier to use the separate software.

  • How do I merge multiple audio clips to one?

    Hey Everyone,
After syncing multiple clips in PE I import them into Premiere CS6 and they are all layered with their own audio tracks (though the video clips are synced with only one audio track). This causes inconsistent audio levels. How do I join all these clips which originally derived from one audio recorder to merge as one? If there is a step by step process please advise. Thanks in advance, you guys are beyond awesome.
    Mike Diaz

If all audio is from a single audio source (with consistent levels0 ..the only reason you would be getting different audio levels on different audio tracks is if the Mixer has different settings....or the audio has been changed at clip level.
Its usually desireable to have audio clips on different tracks.
Can you not just drag the audio clips to a single audio track...if that's what you really need?
Alternatively a mixdown...but that requires sorting the levels anyway.  ( Mixer on automation or at clip level.)

  • How do I separate short movie clips loaded from my digital camera to iPhoto 11 at the same time pics are downloaded and how do I get those video clips to a dvd that will play on a dvd player

When loading pics to iphoto 11 from my camera, occassionaly it will include some video clips with the description of Movxxxx. I wonder if someone could direct me to some straight forward instructions as to how to transfer these video (movie) clips, which now exist in iphoto, to a dvd that will play on a dvd player as one might  expect to see a video play, including the audio that was captured at the time of filming.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer this novice.

You need to open iMovie and it will have a event library called iPhoto Videos, click on that and the videos will load in the window next to it, then you make a new project in iMovie.  Then open iDVD and make a new project then import the movies to the program then burn to a DVD..

  • Importing clips and rotating video

    Please help:
I am unable to import clips into my iMovie 6. I've used Photoshop and Graphic Converter to convert pics to JPEG(jpg). When they are imported they show up as nothing but a white blank with the titles below. Any suggestions? Should I use a different format or simply re-name the clip?
Additionally, I do not know how to rotate a video clip that was imported into iMovie to a correct orientation. What process do I follow to rotate the video clip clockwise or counterclock wise?
This is most frustrating and any help and guidance would be much appreciated.

Well, it's easy. DVCAM, DVCPRO, mini dv video is on tape at NTSC 29.97 fps, no variances. So, your 35 mm film was telecined, a pulldown was added. Did you contact your lab about the telecine procedure?
There is no regular 24fps mode on the DVX. There is 24p and 24pa and these refer to progressive video shot at 23.976 fps with different pulldown cadences added to bring the video to NTSC 29.97 fps.
You need to select which timebase you want to edit in and then either leave the pulldown intact or process the video in Cinema tools to strip it.
There's a ton of info on this board about this issue as well as in the manual and on the web. Here's a good start http://www.adamwilt.com/24p/index.html

  • How do I save my video clips/events to an external hard drive with the newest version of iMovie?

I used to be able to drag the video clips in to my external hard drive once importing them with the older version of iMovie.  Now I'm unable to do so with the newest version.  How do I backup my video clips with the newest version of iMovie?

    Hello tronsonation,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you want to be using an external hard drive to store your iMovie data, then all you need to do is move your iMovie library to the external drive.  To learn more about this, please review the information in the link below.
