How to reduce image size on photoshop without losing quality

i have a logo that needs to be shrunk. but as soon as i shrink it the image looks pixelated. if i leave it as-is, the website says the size is too big. please advise.
Dale Mundi

When you reduce its size, you are removing pixels which is one of the reasons it can look pixelated. You could add a slight blur, but that may make it look worse.

    How to burn an iMovie to DVD without losing quality?  I have iMovie 10.0.5 and iMac 10.9.4 mountain lion. I do not have iDVD. After iMovie goes through the encoding process, quality is horrible. How can I fix this problem? I have tried the apps BURN and DVD Creator for MAC. I need to finish this DVD asap and becoming more and more frustrated. Why would Apple give us iMovie and not provide us an app to burn it to a DVD and / or take away the iDVD?

    To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • How to reduce image size while maintaining proportions?

    Thank you in advance for reading this.
    I was given an image with these dimensions:  w: 13.89  x h: 5.56 inches
    I'm being asked to make it fit these dimensions:  w: 8.5 x h: 5.47 inches
    I cannot figure out how to achieve this without the picture looking stretched, in terms of it's height. Everything looks constrained when you just do the image or canvas resize...any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

    Because the Aspect Ratios are different you will need to crop it and you will lose quite a bit of the image.  You can first scale the image to have a height of 5.47" using menu Image>Image Size.  In the Image size dialog un-check Resample and set the print height to 5.47" click OK this will set the Image's DPI resolution to print the image 5.47" high.  Next set the Rectangle marquee tool to use mode fixed size set the width to 8.5" and the height to 5.47" then click on the top left corner of the image.  You will see a selection the size you want. Use the arrow keys to move the selection for the best composition then use menu Image>Crop.   You will be losing  over 4" of the images width....

  • How to reduce image size on account of disk space shortage?

    I import images from my camera to iPhoto on my MacBook. I want to reduce their size on import because hard disk space on MacBook is limited.
    Is there any smart way how to perform it? I have not found any presets on Import dialog to reduce size.

    If the photos are important then get an external FW hard drive and move the library to it and operate from there. Delete the library from your MacBook.
    Next create a new library on the MB and copy only the photos that you have an immediate need for from the external library with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. It will copy the metadata, keywords, faces, places, and edited versions between libraries. You will a lean, mean travelin' library for the MB.
    You you add photos to the library on the MB while you're on the road you can copy them to the main library in the same manner with iPLM when you get back home.

  • How to Reduce Image Size and show upload Progress Bar

    i need to capture an image from the camera and send it to the server. however to reduce the amount of data transmitted i want to shrink the image and lower its resolution.
    I have code that currently does the following :
    UIImage *testImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"image1.png"]; // this would come from image picker
    NSData * imageData = UIImagePNGRepresentation(testImage);
    // skipped code that showed URL string setup
    NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [imageData length]];
    NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease];
    [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]];
    [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"];
    [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"];
    [request setHTTPBody:imageData];
    NSURLConnection *conn=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self];
    1. need some way to shrink the image size to reduce data traffic
    2. need some way to indicate a progress bar as data is being transfered to the server

    1. The size is visible in the metadata panel, set the dropdown to EXIF. In addition, in the Grid, with Ctrl-J, you can set the options so that you will see the cropped size in the rectangle surrounding the photo.
    2. You cannot, in one action, upload to multiple galleries. Each upload is its own action. I don't know if there is a plug-in to let you upload from LR to 500px in one action; clearly there are plug-ins for Flickr and Smugmug and several others. There should be no need to re-import. Normally, the plug-ins I mentioned will take a TIFF, resize it according to your directions, convert to JPG and upload.

  • How can I reduce a large podcast video without losing quality?

    I am in the process of putting online a podcast video, that I have exported for ipod with quicktime. However, the file is rather large (100MB) and it is complicate for me to break it into smaller files. As I start iWeb it warns me that the file is large and it would require long download times. I was wondering if there was a way to reduce the size of podcast/ipod files without compromising quality too much.
    Thank you very much!

  • How to Import Vector Identified Files into Photoshop Without Losing Quality

    Hello,
    I am creating a series of music worksheets on photoshop. I have created some music scores in a music writing software called Sibelius 7. It has the capability to export the sheet music graphics in the following forms: .pdf, .eps, .bmp, .tiff, .png, .svg .
    However, I have tried to 'place' each of them into my photoshop file to see which one will work. But on saving the photoshop document as a .pdf with any of the graphics formats, the vector quality of the image has been lost, as it pixelates on zooming in. I have also tried to import an .svg file into adobe illustrator to save it as an .ai file and then import that into photoshop, but the image is again pixelated.
    I don't really know what is happening, as I am essentially trying to import a file that is a vector (or at least does not pixelate on zooming) into photoshop, hoping for the same qualities to be retained, but it is being lost for some reason.
    What should I do?
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply. I opened the vectored pdf into illustrator. I tested illustrator by saving that document as a new pdf and the vector quality was still retained. I the following images, I copied and pasted the vector from illustrator into photoshop. However, on saving this new photoshop document as a pdf, it does not retain the vector format, as you can see with the pixelation that occurs when zooming in on an object.
    Thank you.

  • How do I update slices in photoshop without losing the links in Dreamweaver??

    Hi all,
    I have designed a website in photoshop and everything is sailing smoothly. The only problem I have is that everytime I try to update the layout in photoshop I lose all the links I had put to the slices in dreamweaver. This happens even if am just adding a single word to the layout in photoshop and sav it for web. the website has many many links and everytime I update the site means I have to put the links on all over again and it is a chao as they are over 100 links....
    Is there a way to update the layout in photoshop and still have the slices with their links in dreamweaver?? I also lose all my DIV tags when I update the site...
    Please help

    Sounds like you're exporting Save as type: HTML and Images, which will overwrite your modified HTML (anchors etc) in your web page every time.
    When you export the slices, try exporting Save as type: Images Only, so that only the image get exported and your modified HTML (anchors etc) stays intact.
    Provided your slice names and dimensions don't change, only the sliced images will update and your page layout will remain intact.

  • How to Transfer Slideshow to Another Mac without Losing Quality

    I produced a 93-picture slideshow with iPhoto6, Ken Burns, music, all excellent quality. I want to send it to a friend to be played on her MacBook Pro in exactly the same high quality (clarity, resolution, transitions, music) as I enjoy on mine.
    If I publish it on .Mac I keep the high quality of the photos, but I lose the music and the transitions. If I publish it as a QT movie, I lose the quality of the photos; ditto for iDVD.
    Is some sort of archiving possible, and sending via an ordinary DVD?
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    There is a way to do this that involves copying your entire library, paring it down to just the slideshow, and burning the library to DVD.
    1. Close iPhoto. In the Finder, copy your iPhoto Library folder. (Copy the whole folder without opening or taking it apart.) You'll need plenty of disc space available. You might want to make the copy on your desktop to avoid confusion.
    2. Rename the copied iPhoto Library folder. (Ex: "iPhoto Slideshow Library ")
    3. Hold the Option key while you launch iPhoto. Click "Choose Library" then navigate to the iPhoto Slideshow Library folder. iPhoto will now open the copied library.
    4. In iPhoto, delete all photos and albums that aren't needed for the slideshow. Remember to use iPhoto Trash and to empty it. You might delete in batches of a few rolls at a time, since iPhoto can get fussy if you try to do too much at once.
    5. Your new library should now contain only the slideshow and its photos. Close iPhoto. You may want to Option-Launch again and point to your regular library now, to avoid confusion the next time you open iPhoto.
    6. Use the Finder to burn the iPhoto Slideshow Library folder to DVD. (Use the Finder's get info to check that it is about 4.2 Gb or less. That's about all you can reasonably expect to fit.) Since you are burning an entire library, the disc will contain the necessary database files to play the slideshow on any Mac that has iPhoto 6.

  • How to resize large images without losing quality

    Hello I have an image that I am trying to use as an email. Right now it is 2108 pixels. And for an email it should be 600 px. I created this image in illustrator as vectors and type.
    Whenever I go into image size and i change it to be 600 pixels it gets extremely blurry. I have also tried converting this to a smart object... doesnt work. How do I resize my large image to be smaller without losing quality???

    here is an example sceenshot of the opening dialog (.ai opened directly in Photoshop)
    your illustrator vector should be rastered sharp at 100% actual Pixels in Photoshop
    that is where you want to evaluate sharpness in Photoshop...
    then File> Save for Web & Devices (and drag that saved file icon into an open web browser)
    still no joy, embed your saved image here using the forum's camera icon...

  • How to decrease PDF file size without losing quality of images and vector lines?

    I have several ai files that I saved as PDFs. Now I'm having problem with the size of this combine files. Can some one assist me with the proper way on decreasing file size without losing quality.
    Thank you.

    I am having the same problem with a different file that's in a different format mentioned above. I'm trying to convert a ".srf" file and turn it into a ".pdf." I was successful doing this but my image, once in a .pdf was also pixilated.
    I thought if I convert my ".srf" file to a ".jpeg" first, then bring this newly created ".jpeg" into a ".pdf," I would have more luck. But unfortunately the free download I got on my computer that's supposed to convert any file to any file, CANNOT convert ".srf" files to ANYTHING!
    Does anyone have any ideas? Or any specific programs I should get?
    Thanks!

  • CS4 Reduce Image Size w/out increased density

    I worked on a poster graphic in a larger 8-1/2 x 11 size. Now I have to reduce the size for basic logo size item of about 3" or so. Still fairly new to Illustrator and can't figure out how to reduce the size of the graphic without increasing the density. I have already grouped everything together so that I stay consistent with the size reduction. Please help! Thanks...

    As I reduce the size by using the free transform tool, the lines and everything just keep getting fatter and thicker.
    OK. The two suggestions you have recommended definitely help. thanks for that. Now the problems seems to be that it doesn't all want to scale consistantly. I select all, have complied with what you recommended, but parts are still shrinking at a different rate. I am just not understanding why this is happening. It should be so simple!
