How to reformat a used iMac without any restoration disc.

We were recently giving a used 2007 iMac. It still has all the previous owners settings and applications. How do I reformat the computer to factory settings without any of the disc that came with the computer.

I don't have experience with 2007 Mac, but with the newer machines and Snow Leopard, you can use any newer version OS X installer
Actually, if the newer OS was purchased at the app store, then its license is tied to the Apple ID it was purchased with and the license is not transferable, meaning they are running a pirated copy. That also means that the seller is obligated to erase the disk and reinstall the original OS.
The buyer of such a Mac will never be able to reinstall unless they purchase their own license as Apple's servers will check the machine/Apple ID; in order to do that, they would need Snow Leopard in order to wipe the drive, install SL, and then purchase the newer OS using their own Apple ID.

a Domain requires at least one Windows server OS machine which has Active Directory installed.
As previous already mentioned from SenneVL this also requires that computers are added to the domain and that you create user accounts in Active Directory users and computers which stores the account information in the Active directory database.
In your case with single computers each machine has its own database(SAM) which stores passwords etc. this is different in a domain.
Each computer has a local policy which will be overwritten from centrally managed policies from the domain.

I have an app running on Samsung Android Devices
I have two version 103 and 110
I can deploy and install without any prompt or click version 103 by using Application policy. I just Selecten "required"
Then I have to updta this app from 103 to 110.
In able to do this, I change apk file in application policy.
But, In afaria client, I see that version 110 is shown in update tab. And waiting for tap to update.
I want to update automatically update 103 to 110.
How?
Maybe first of all I have to run Samsung configuration policy to uninstall 103 and then run application policy to install 110.
But this is complicated.
What I've done?
I run Application policy to install 103.
Then I change apk file 103 to 110 in application policy.
Then create a session to send 110.apk file to device.
Then run configuration polict to update from 103 to 110 from defined file location on devices. (storage/sdcard0/110.apk)
I know it is more complicated.
Is there any simple method?

You must activate it by syncing it to iTunes on a computer. An Apple Store can do it for you - or anybody with a computer that meets the minimum requirements and has iTunes 10.2 on it can activate it for you.
If you have someone else activate it, bear in mind that when you do finally sync to your computer, iTunes is going to tell you that all content will be erased because you already set it up on another computer with another iTunes library. Your iPad will sync to one iTunes library only. That is way they are designed to perform.
You CAN transfer any purchases that you make on the iPad to your iTunes library when you perform your first sync with your own computer, however, and I would strongly suggest that you do that when you get the chance.
If you do set it up with another computer, I would keep the purchases and downloads to a minimum so that keeping all of your data is not a big problem when you finally sync to your own PC.

How to keep the backlight on without any flashing?

I have developed a software called Astral effects and released versions for Samsung,Nokia and SE. I use Samsung's SDK on the Samsung version. Their SDK has the same feature as the Nokia SDK, which enables setting the intensity of the backlight without any flashing.
Motorola, Sanyo and LG has no native Java SDK's. So I have to rely on the standard SDK from Sun for those. It only has a function which turns on the backlight with maximum intensity, Device.flashBacklight(). This causes flashing from time to time. Is there any way to set the intensity of the backlight without any flashing when using only the standard SDK from Sun?
Now I am calling Device.flashBacklight(1000) every second. It turns on the backlight, but it flashes every second.

Yeah I already thought about that, I forgot to add it in the topic.
Adding a loopback interface will fix our problem but will be a lot of work to manage with 500 + routers, routing, nat, etc. Because we have to create another subnet for each loopback interface on each router, or maybe I'm wrong...?!
I was thinking, if maybe, someone could have another idea.

How can I re-install FF without any imports from other browsers?

I initially installed FireFox because supposedly it allows me to run Sky Go which sadly Chrome no longer does. When I did so, I thought it would be wise to allow it to import my bookmarks etc. However, since I was not able to run Sky Go, they suggested that I unistall FireFox and reinstall it without any imports, this I have now tried twice without success to do; hence this question. All help gratefully received and greatly appreciated.

I had to re-think the sequence of events yesterday following very helpful support from the Sky Go team.
Sky Go had originally been installed on my laptop because I used it with Chrome.
Sadly and somewhat unexpectedly, (like overnight) last week, Sky Go no longer worked with Chrome. My first on-line Chat with Sky revealed that this was due to an upgrade by Chrome and it should soon be once again available; however, after a week, when it had not been resolved I contacted them again. I should say that in the meantime, Sky Go continues to work very well with Internet Explorer.
Yesterday I downloaded and installed FireFox with the option ticked to import bookmarks etc. when Sky Go was still loaded on the laptop. However, upon the advice of the Sky go Adviser, I did uninstall both Sky Go and Firefox, and reinstalled the FireFox and the FireFox version of Sky Go and when this did not work, repeated the attempt. Again the adviser was incredibly patient and helpful. He put this down to the original installation of FireFox during which I exercised the import bookmarks etc. option; hence my question. Is there any way I can reinstall Firefox now without it remembering that I originally chose to include the import option?
In the meantime, I continue to use IE for Sky Go but think I would really like to use FireFox instead.

i just tried what u said i just used the javafx 2.0 click button example
in netbeans. copied the dist folder to the c:\dev\jetty\webapps folder
then started jetty.sh .this is on my desktop comp
and then on my laptop i typed
http://mydesktopip:8080/dist/JavaFXApplication10.html
hit enter and it worked through WLAN .
i could click the button in my laptop while the server is on desktop.
now my question is as u said that the app will run on client side. then where
did it downloaded the .jar file "JavaFXApplication10.jar";. i checked the usual
internet explorer folders like temporary internet folder and content.ie5 folders
to see if it had downloaded the .jar file there from which it was displaying me the
button. but i could not locate it.
where does the .jar file loads from. is it in memory somewhere, on the disk or was it running
from original location on my desktop. what is going on behind the scenes?

it is interesting thou that on 64 bit both versions are required 32 bit and 64 bit

Wiping a used iMac with missing install discs

Hello all,
I am getting a used iMac from my brother within the next month or so. He has installed alot of 'junk' on it that I would like to remove. Preferably I would like to completely wipe the hard drive and start from scratch.
Currently it is running 10.6.8 but it does not have the original install discs that came with it when purchased new. Am I going to have a problem reinstalling the OS without the cds and what would everyone recommend as the best thing to wipe the drive?
I am very familiar with doing this type of thing on a PC, but I am much less experienced with Macs.

Phone AppleCare and order replacement disks; if the computer originally shipped with 10.6.2 or earlier, a retail Mac OS X 10.6 DVD can be used instead(they're available in the online Apple Store), but won't install iLife.

IMac (Mid 2007) Restore Disc with Leopard OSX 10.5

Sometime after 26-Oct-07, I assume all new iMacs will be delivered with Leopard
factory installed and should come with an updated 10.5 Restore disc?
I wondered if Apple will offer the updated 10.5 Restore disc to customers that
purchased (mid 2007) iMacs with 10.4.10 pre-installed?
Something tells me we will have to buy the retail 10.5 and no longer be able
to use the restore disc that came with the iMac (mid 2007).
My purchase date was 15-Sep-07 so I am probably SOL for any free upgrade.

Powerbook g4 12" failure to load with or without system restore disc

I searched around a bit and couldn't find anyone with exactly this problem. My hard drive failed a while ago, which I had kind of been expecting for a while. so i bought a new hitachi 120GB HD that is compatible with my machine.
i scrounged up my 10.2.3 system restore/install disc that came with my computer some 5 years ago, and tried to run it with my new hard drive. But my computer will not boot the disc. I ran the hardware checker disc, and everything turned out OK, but my computer will not boot the System Restore disc (I am holding C during startup to no avail). It gets to the gray apple and then the screen gets a thick horizontal line of static across it. if i try to boot without the sysrestore disc, i get a ? sign as if I was trying to run classic mode with a bad extension.
is my system restore disc busted or what? Is there another problem that the hardware checker disc couldn't find?
I don't really want to drop more money on a new OS, especially if it's not going to fix my problem.
oh and there are zero scratches on the disc- this is maybe the 2nd time ive taken it out of its sleeve/the bag that the sleeve came in. i don't understand why this isn't working and I really like this computer- this is the only serious problem it has ever had.

Thanks for the clarification. So even before the new HDD, the computer will not boot from the internal HDD or the install disk. However, it does start up, so that is good.
Try Resetting the PRAM.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination immediately after the chime and before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down for three chimes.
6. Release the keys and allow to boot.
If still no joy, see if you can boot from the Apple Hardware Test disk that came with the computer. If you are able to boot, run all tests in a loop by holding down Command + L during the tests.
Let me know how it goes.

How is ist possible to reset it without installation disc of snow leopard?s there any possibility to reset the system having installed Mountain Lion or Mavericks.
As I own also a MacbookPro from 2009, is it possible to reset also the iMac using the disc of my Macbook,
or is it possible to restore it using my apple Id, with the purchased Mountain Lion / Mavericks via internet recovery.

I had the example dababase installed when I installed the Oracle database.
Every time, when I create a new user, there will be some example objects coming
with the new user.
How can I remove these objects from the new user?

I think the easiest way for you would be to use OEM.
Just locate each object that you want to remove and right click->remove. Don't bother doing this for any indexes as these will be removed when you drop the corresponding tables.
If you want to try command line through sqlplus then identify the objects you want to remove by selecting from the user_objects view while logged in as this user. This will give you the name and type of object. Then issue the relevant drop command.
It's probably worth making sure you have a valid backup first, just in case things go wrong!
