How to refresh a JAR file in an applet

Hello All,
I have an applet whose class files are in a Jar file called classes.jar. The applet also makes use of a JAR file called info.jar, in which there is a text file. The text file contains data which the applet processes.
While the classes.jar is constant, the text file contents in info.jar varies. But when the applet is reloaded, it still maintains the old info.jar and never refreshes it with the currently available info.jar.
Is there any way in which I can ask the applet to take the latest info.jar?

I guess you have info.jar in your APPLET-tag. Perhaps it also holds .class-files you require?
I'd say you should break out the text file and have the applet read it via URLConnection instead. That should make it read from the server every time. If there's a size problem you can of course put the text file (alone) into a .jar-file and read that from the applet.

You don't "load" jars. If it's on the classpath, you can obtain individual resources from it using various methods on either Class or ClassLoader. Do you mean "how to add a jar to the classpath at runtime"? Can't be done without using a classloader, typically URLClassLoader or a subclass thereof. Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.

Using Mozilla, the jar file downloads as expected, but with Internet Explorer, it tries to download it as .zip file.

Just post a link to the Jar. Mozilla will download
it as a jar. Windows will download it as a zip.
Only one link. No problem, really. ;-)There is a problem. People who arent as good with computers as you are won't know how to run the jar file after downloading with IE.
At school, I told someone to download the file, which they did with IE. It downloaded to desktop as a zip. They extracted and were left with a bunch of .class files.

I want to know that how to call a .jar file from forms menu. when I use HOST('<path>\test.jar') it is working in 'Client Server' any way. but the problem is I use application server in order to run my form. so my form is in the server and I run the form via clients web browser. in that case above solution will not work. if any body knows how to overcome this problem please reply.

I created a bean area and set the class name as implementation class. within that java bean class I called to a bat file which consists of the execution command of the jar file ( because i don't know how to call .jar file from my bean class directly).
then i tried to run it in application server. its still not running.
can you tell me what i have to do within my bean class? or can you suggest any solution?

How to refresh a local file in the Reporting Studio?

I need to refresh a few local files in the Reporting Studio via script, but obviously command
ActiveDocument.Sections["Sectionname"].Process()
does not work, since it's not a query. What else could I use?

You asked how to refresh imported data files via script.
You correctly identified that the Imported file is not a Query.
However if you look at the Object model closely you will notice properties that if you can think outside the box will allow you to treat the imported file like a query section.

If this is not a satisfactory solution then move the data files to a database or create a DSN entry and OCE to those files instead of importing them.

I got a problem here. I would like to run my jar file in a html-based brower, should I write another applet for my jar file? How can I do that? (I don't have applet in my jar file, but only JFrame) Is there any way I can put a runnable jar file into an applet and show on the brower? Could anyone show me how to write this code? At first you need a java plug-in for your browser.
Next you have to implement an applet in your jar-file.
The tag in your html-document should look like:
<applet code="Sample.class" archive="sample.jar" width="400" height="400"></applet>

You want to create an executable JAR file? You do it in the following way.
Create a manifest file such as manif.txt and the contents should contain
Main-Class: foo
assuming foo is the name of your main class. Then create the jar as follows
jar cvfm foo.jar manif.txt foo.class

Hey I am facing a similar problem:
I have this jar file lbswebservice.jar that I have to use for my application.
I added it to the classpath, I copied it in my WEB-INF/lib folder, but when I try to access classes in this package, it doesnt work.
For example the jar contains the package com.blipsystems.lbs.ws.messages.* ; that contains different classes, like the Campaign class.
I tried to use this class (just to create an object) in different context (through jsp, or just through java test classes), but it never works, i get the error: com.blipsystems.lbs.ws.messages.Campaign cannot be resolved to a type
I am a bit desperate here...

I added the following line in my code to refer to this library. But it always complains of not found the class

I tried the following to add this library but did not work
On eclipse/windows: Went to window-> preferences -> BuildPath _> class path Variable.
On Solaris: Could not add this library /opt/java_reference/v1.6.0_04/jre/lib. Although I am logged in as root, but not able to add the library there. Complains of Permission denied.

Set the classpath option when compiling.
javac -classpath /path/to/lib/dnsjava.jar YourProgram.java
I don't use Eclipse, but it probably has a library list on your project preferences. Add it there.
