How to register listeners on new RAC install?

Hi there,
I've just finished installing clusterware and database 10g on a solaris
cluster (10.2.0.2).
But, when I query the state of the nodeapps, it says that the listener
isn't configured.
$ srvctl status nodeapps -n servername
VIP is running on node: servername
GSD is running on node: servername
PRKO-2016 : Error in checking condition of listener on node: servername
ONS daemon is running on node: servername
I've looked everywhere, and i can't find how to add the listener (presumably
as a nodeapp) to the new cluster.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

You have installed Oracle binaries and have created the database? then as part of the inital instance creation and startup DBCA should have created the listener added it to the OCR and added it to the autostartup process of the CRS under nodeapps.

Was your cracked screen fixed by an Authorized Apple Service Provider? I may be wrong, but I didn't think they fixed such things.
Regardless of who fixed it, and whether it was an authorized repair or not, I recommend bringing it back to the agency that fixed it in the first place. But note if the repairing agency is not authorized by Apple, you may not want to spend much more money on repairs there for this unit.

How To Register For a New eFax Account on the Photosmart eStation

If you ever find yourself unable to log in to your eFax account and you have contacted HP Technical Support and eFax only to find the problem cannot be fixed by either party, there is a way to register for a different account but the only way to do this involves using a Photosmart eStation. The error you may get will read "Invalid Login" and is only applicable on the Photosmart eStation, HP Envy Series, and the Photosmart 7510 regardless of whether you are trying to create a new account or just access one that already exists, here are the steps to fix that:
1. Go to www.efax.com and sign in.
2. Select "Update Account" and then select the profile tab.
3. Change the current contact email to a dummy/alternate email (must have a phone number listed on this page before changes will go into effect).
a) Using the @hpeprint.com email may cause problems.
b) Log out of eFax account.
4. Go to the E-station and follow these instructions to be able to register for a new account:
a) On the top of the E-station, select the 3rd Menu button (3 lines) and go to
b) Select Settings then
c) Tools then
d) Advanced then
e) Applications and
f) Manage Applications
g) next Filter > select All and wait for all the apps to load.
h) Scroll down to very bottom for Webfax
i) and then Clear Data in this section
j) Select the Home button at the top and
k) Select Efax and register for a new account with a preferred email and zip code
l) Write down the new phone number and check your email for a new 4-digit PIN
5. Repeat these steps to clear the Web Fax data and then try to login to efax.com on the printer by selecting
a) eFax button
b) Settings
c) Account and upgrade information
d) Change
e) After selecting chance, in this area, login to eFax on the printer with the new number and pin.
6. The best test to ensure everything is working now is to send yourself an eFax so you can check for incoming and outgoing processes to be just as you expect it to be.
7. Print the ePrint info page so that the printer's ePrint email address will be associated with the new eFax account.
And that is the trick on how to get a new eFax account if you are experiencing issues with signing in from the front panel of the printer. If you do not have access to a Photosmart eStation, then contact HP Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in North America or are an English-speaking customer for assistance with this step.

How to boot up from new harddrive install

I'm about to replace my harddrive before it crashes. My question is, can I copy my existing HD data onto the new harddrive before installing it? I have a firewire case I can use for this process. I have a freeware copy of Superduper I can use.
I have replaced my HD once before, but it was after my drive crashed so I had to do a new install of OS X and then replace all apps one-by-one. I'm hoping to avoid this by replacing the drive early this time, and it would be great if a cloned copy of my contents put onto the new drive before install could allow me to boot up and operate normally. Sure. Put the new drive in the FW enclosure and prep the drive:
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select the new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
7. Repeat Steps 4-6 for each volume created if more than one.

How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the external drive's volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
5. Select the the external drive's volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Select the startup volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
8. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Verify the settings for Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only. If they are not correct then reset them.
Upon completion of cloning open the Startup Disk preference, select the icon for the external drive, then click on the Restart button. If all goes well your computer should start up from the external drive. Now shut down and swap drives.

How to register a listener in RAC.

We have recently upgraded our database in RAC environment. As a part of this, listener oracle_home also got changed. Earlier we used to start the listener using srvctl but now i am not able to do the same. i think i need to change Oracle_home details in cluster related config as well. Can any body share if any points on this.

if you've upgraded to 11.2 the environment variable TNS_ADMIN to the new location in grid home
the database description in ocr also needs to have the tns_admin updated
Update the CRS TNS_ADMIN setting
srvctl setenv database -d <dbname> -T TNS_ADMIN=/u00/app/11.2.0.2/grid/network/admin <-- your grid home
Verify the environment for the database and all instances
$ srvctl getenv database –d <dbname>
$ srvctl getenv instance –d <dbname> -i <instancename>
Also, when I upgraded to 11.2.0.2 I had an issue with using srvctl because the OCR was still looking to the old home even though it was uninstalled. This was resolved by setting ORA_CRS_HOME environment variable to point to the new GRID home.

We had OBIEE installed with Oracle Application Server on Redhat 64-bit. How can I find the URL to give me the login page to OBIEE. I tried the default port of 9704 but got no page.
Not sure if issue is with the install or we are using the wrong port. Any ideas on what to check?

My bookmarks from a previous computer are in a folder marked with a star called "favorites". How do I make a new Firefox install find them?

My computer died. I am rebuilding my stuff on a different old computer. I downloaded Firefox 3.6 to the new machine. I found my old favorites on the old drive in a folder with a yellow star icon called "favorites". I can see them all in that folder. I can move this folder anywhere. Where should it go? Is there another place to look for favorites or a backup of favorites? The old drive seems to be pretty much ok, so I can access whatever used to be there. The favorites folder location was C:/documents and settings/ed/favorites.

Those will not be the bookmarks from Firefox, the favorites folder is from IE. Firefox bookmarks are stored in a file called places.sqlite inside the profile folder. You can copy that file into our current profile folder. Are you saying you ran software update and the iphoto app was upgraded to the latest version?

How to migrate iTunes to new Windows install

Hello friends! I am pretty good with computers but terrible at iTunes! So my SSD crashed & took down my C drive. Luckily, everything is backed up. My iTunes was installed on my C drive and the library is on my Z drive. I would like to keep my library in tact so that I can sort by date added. I have a large (2TB +) Apple Lossless collection that I love greatly and would like for all files to be there on restoration. Last time I reinstalled Windows, I dragged my entire iTunes folder into iTunes & rebuilt the database. This was not ideal as I lost some music somehow in the process in rebuilding the database.
If anyone can provide me a step by step walkthrough I would be most grateful.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).

I am working on to register my two node RAC database to the new listener which i have created manually, after listener creation when i start the listener it only handles local instance but not the remote instance. Please advice....

How to start the SCAN listener on new 11Gr2 install?

Ok...starting dbca on first RAC install on the new 11Gr2 cluster.
I was about to proceed from screen 3 to 4...and it comes up with an error saying the SCAN listener hasn't been started.
I started what I thought was the listener with lsrnctl start...but apparently that isn't enough.
What do I do to start the SCAN listener? I'm still a bit hazy on what this is for.....

So, if I understand this correctly, to get scan and scan listener to autostart on boot I do something like this?
If my SCAN name is database-scan
I'd need to do srvctl add scan -n database-scan ?
For the scan listener, from the instructions it sounds like I can name it anything I want...is that correct...?
So I could do something like
srvctl add scan_listener -l fred ?

How can i delete my old verify E-Mail and register with my new E-Mail into Creative Cloud App on the PC?

I want to register with another Account into my Creative Cloud. When i download Creative Cloud, they always say that i must accept and verfiy my E-mail at my e-mail adress, but i have forgotten the whole password of my e-mail. So i created an new adobe account and wanted to login with this account into creative cloud. but everytime i am in creative cloud i only can accpet and verify the old email, i can't do something else. i uninstall creative cloud and install it again from the new accout, but everytime i only can verify the old email. Could anybody help me and say how i can register with my new email , so that i can verify with my new email?

Are you on CC or standalone perpetual licence?
If the former I believe you merely download LR from the CC site onto your iMac and log in and off you go.
If the latter, download LR onto your Mac from the perpetual licence site (not the CC version), install it and use the same licence number as with your PC.

How many Scan Listeners, we have to configure for 5 Node RAC?

How many scan Listeners we need to configure for 5 Node RAC? Oracle will not allow us to create More than 3 scan's? What If i have one scan Listener per each for 1st 3 node's? what about remaining two Node's? How application user will connect to 4 or 5 Node? Can you please explain..? Forgive me, If am totally wrong?

Each of the 5 instances will register itself with the scan listener (using the instance parameter remote_listener). Thus, the scan listener is "aware" of the database instances on the other two nodes where it is not running. It can still redirect incoming connections to the local listeners on these nodes (registered as local_listener).
