Need help on how to reinstall apple application support

Uninstalling and reinstalling your QuickTime Player should also reinstall Apple Application Support.

  • Reinstall Apple Application Support

After downloading and installing Quicktime, for the first time in many years (a favorite, older, game I'm playing through needs to have Quicktime installed for movie playback) - I noticed that it installed several different components, in addition to Quicktime itself.
Being slightly irked that the installer did not mention that it needed to install the other components (had the installer asked permission/stated the pieces were critical I wouldn't care so much), I installed them, figuring they weren't really needed.
However, Apple Application Support was, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to install it without needing to install Quicktime again - something I would rather avoid because the recent Quicktime installation unassociated a bunch of audio and movie file formats, and that's been quite annoying getting set straight again.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.4.1\AppleApplicationSupport msi
Double click on AppleApplicationSupport msi- That should give you the repair to reinstall it. The path is from XP pro so it may vary with Windows 7

    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • How to uninstall Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1 on a PC or force a new installation of QuickTime

After running Apple QuickTime for three or more years on my PC running Windows XP, apparently some part of its code became corrupted.  Trying to install an updated version of QuickTime, all went well until the new installation was not able uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support, v. 1.2.1.
How can I uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1, or, how can I force a new installation of QuickTime without first uninstalling Apple Application Support?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jim

Jim, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache is where Apple Application Support is located should you want to delete it, the version you mention is old.
You may be able to first force a new update by going to. C:\ Program Files\Apple Software Update and double clicking on SoftwareUpdate exe
If that doesn't work for you than you would have to remove the old QuickTime msi file. Which is a microsoft installer file. Located in C:\WINDOWS\Installer
If you have any difficulty locating and removing the msi file this link to Windows Installer CleanUp Utillty should help. If not post back.

  • ITunes wont load Apple Application Support was not found

I have been having a lot of trouble downloading itunes. I had it on my laptop and then the laptop crashed. I tried to re-install,and it goes smooth then at the end. I get a window message that has a red and white X that says:
Apple Application Support was not found
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunesHelper. please unistall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2
    ok
    Can anyone help me PLEASE?
    Thanks

With that one, let's try uninstalling both iTunes and Apple Application Suppport. When we reinstall iTunes, that should reinstall Apple Application Support as well. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions along the way too. Best to print these instructions out, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
Download and save a fresh iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line and don't start the iTunes install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now, quit QuickTime (if you have that open) and Safari 4.0.4 (if you have that installed and open). Both applications use Apple Application Support, and they will interfere with the uninstall if you have them open.
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your "Add or Remove Programs" control panel. Uninstall iTunes. Uninstall Apple Application Support (if it is listed in there).
(From this point on until we reinstall Apple Application Support, neither QuickTime nor Safari 4.0.4 will be able to run.)
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
    (1) Open "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your program files are stored on.
    (2) Open the "Program Files" folder.
    (3) Right-click on the iTunes folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    (4) Open the "Common files" folder.
    (5) Open the "Apple" folder.
    (6) Right-click on the Apple Application Support folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Now empty your Recycle Bin and restart the PC.
    *Reinstall Phase*
After the PC restarts, do not open any other applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Did the install seem to go through okay? If so, does iTunes start launching properly again?

  • PLEASE HELP - Stupidly deleted "Apple Application Support" Unable to Access Itunes Library (5,000+ songs at stake) = :(

PLEASE HELP - I have stupidly deleted the apple application support off my computer, and I am unable to launch my Itunes..It advises me to download itunes again, however i am TERRIFIED to do so because I have over 5,000 songs in my Library and no doubt my entire collection will inevitably be wiped.PLEASE HELP..I am almost in tears. I have attempted searching google for "Apple Application" Support downloads however it directs me to the apple website, and to no avail I cannot find anything to aid me...any responses would be greatly appreciated..!!!!!!!!!!

Reinstall iTunes from Apple's website. Reinstalling iTunes does not wipe your library, but you should have a backup regardless.

  • Itunes needs apple application support program

Q ,there was trouble with my computer last night and a few programs were deleted. After a scan was completed my itunes will not work. It says that I need to reinstall apple application support program. I have tried to repair the program and I downloaded itunes again, but to no avail. itunes is in my list of programs. What am i supposed to do now?

Doublecheck to see if there are any leftover QuickTime program files and/or folders on the PC.
On a 64-bit system open the following directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\
If you see a QuickTime folder in there, delete it.
    Now open the following directory:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
If you see a QuickTime file and or a QuickTimeVR file, delete those two files.
If Windows won't let you delete either folder or files, let us know what the error message says.
If those files and/or folders were present, and you successfully deleted them, try another iTunes install. Does it go through any better this time?

  • I downloaded the Windows 64-bit version of iTunes, but the application won't run. It comes up with Apple Application Support - Error 2.  How can I fix this?

I downloaded the Windows 64-bit version of iTunes, but the application won't run. It comes up with Apple Application Support - Error 2.  How can I fix this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and it still doesn't work.

What computer do you have?  is it 32 or 64 bit operating system?

  • Downloaded Itunes to Windows 8. When opening Itunes error message 'Apple Application Support is required to run ITunes. Please uninstall Itunes, then install ITunes again.' I have uninstalled and reinstalled still same error received.

I downloaded ITunes onto my computer with Windows 8. Each time I try to open it I get the same error of "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is reuired to run iTues. Please uninstall ITunes, then install ITunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2)". I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it multiple times and continue to get the same error. I am unsure of how to fix this.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I tried to download the latest upgrade and got the following: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support\ApplePushService.dll

I tried to download the latest upgrade and I got a message telling me "The application or DLL ProgramFiles/CommonFiles/Apple/Applie Application Support\ApplePushService.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." and then below that another message "iTunes was no installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  I tried reinstalling and it still will not work.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
