How to reinstall iPhoto (Lion)?

Hi Apple Support,
At the very first stage, whenever I opened the Mac App Store, there was one update of iPhoto.
However, it was impossible to carry on the update after I type in the ID and PSW which I registered my MBA.
After this issue, I delete the Iphoto from application folder, and now, I cannot reinstall it from Mac App Store....
After clicking "acceot" and keying in ID and PSW, an erro message kept poping out saying: These Apps cannot be accepted on this computer.
Help! How can I reinstall the iPhoto only without cleaning all disk?
Thank you so much!
Sunny

  • How to reinstall Mountain Lion after Mavericks OS has been installed without using the time machine?

Hi, I upgraded to Maverics a few weeks ago, and since than my computer has been very slow. It NEVER happened before. Now, I want to go back to Mountain Lion, but I didn't back up my computer with the time machine. I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me how to reinstall Mountain Lion again over Maverics? Thanks a lot for your help!

You will need either a bootable flash drive with Mountain Lion to install, if you have one, or reinstall Snow Leopard if your computer can boot Snow Leopard. Or you can use Internet Recovery to reinstall the original version of OS X that came with the computer. In any event you will have to repartition and reformat the drive.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How to reinstall iPhoto

my iPhoto won't open. and I've done research and called experts...and I will be buying the apple extended warranty plan. but before I do so, I want to reinstall iPhoto. how do I go about this? I've made up my mind...that it needs to be reinstalled. I have all my pictures backed up and ready.
    thanks!

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
Do not delete the iPhoto library in your pictures folder
trash the iPhoto application (in your applications folder), the iPhoto preferences ("your username" ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist) and all receipts with iPhoto in them ("your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts)
Install from your iLife 08 disk or the systems restore disks that came with your computer (install bundled software option or click here for MacWorld's instructions.

  • How to reinstall Mountain Lion while disabling firewire extention

I am reinstalling Mountain Lion but get stuck at the reboot stage, because the installation procedure re-enables my fried FireWire port, which I had previously disabled by removing all FireWire-related extensions.  When FireWire is enabled (i.e. there are FireWire extensions in /System/Library/Extensions), my computer never starts up because it is busy printing a "handleunrecoverableerrorint" message about FireWire.
How can I reinstall Mountain Lion while avoiding the re-installation of FireWire extensions?  I already have a bootable ML USB drive from which I am running ML Install.
My AppleCare is long over, but I've managed to squeeze a few extra years out of my 2008 MBP by removing FireWire kexts.
Here's what I've tried so far:
The problem seemed to be that /OS X Install Data/BaseSystem.dmg contains FireWire extensions, which I believe is the system that is loaded during installation.
I have already tried rolling my own identical BaseSystem.dmg minus its FireWire extensions (properly chmodded), but somehow I still get FireWire error messages during startup.  /OS X Install Data/kernelcache might be the culprit, but I don't know how to rebuild it.
I can't think of anything else to do... any ideas?

Open the Mac App Store, click Purchases, select ML, then re-download and install. However if your machine has the abillity to run Mavericks I'd just upgrade to that and bypass ML.

  • How to reinstall iphoto on my iMac.  it is currently installed but wont open and says i need to reinstall from appstore

my iphoto is not working and it says to reinstall from appstore but in the appstore it shows already installed and there is no option to reinstall. do I need to try to move my current iphoto to the trash? if so what about all my pictures

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Delete and redownload iPhoto. This won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • How to reinstall IPhoto and garageband

I have a Macbook Pro OSX Lion. Iphoto and garageband was preinstalled. When I will update it, there is a dialogue box that appears "We could not complete your purchase, product distribution file could not be verified." So I put it in the trash and went to appstore to reinstall again, but  it won't. I don't have those two apps for now.

This is absolutely incorrect, You shouldn't be giving out the wrong information when you have no idea what's going on. If you own iPhoto you own it, updates and everything. He should be able to go view his purchases via the app store and re install that way which is what i'm sure he was doing.

  • How to reinstall mountain lion offline?

    Hi everyone,
My wife has a MacBook Pro (late 2009) and she did a big mistake by trusting one of her friends to let him install Mountain Lion. Now I do not have any idea about how did he install it cause she was running her Pro on Tiger. Anyway to make it short the problem is: she erased the hardisk in safe mode I believe and now the machine starts with Recovery Partition here we have only one option which is to re-install the OS through apple ID from apple servers. Since we did not buy it we can not do it for this issue I have tried to downgrade it to Tiger and it does not work also. It does not boot from the original Tiger DVD. In the end I got an original copy of Mountain Lion to try if it will boot or not, the result was negative. It is not booting Tiger and it is not booting Mountain Lion all I can see is ''Recovery Partition'' screen. Hope to see some good answers, thanks.

No way to install Mountain Lion legally when running Tiger. Her friend had an ML installer on a disk or usb flash drive and somehow did an Erase & Install. In any case you have a problem whereby you should back up any files on her MBP and boot from the Tiger OS installer disk and reinstall that OS. To install Lion legally you need to purchase Snow Leopard 10.6 and then purchase Mountain Lion.

  • How to reinstall iPhoto 5 without losing library photos/albums?

I had a hard freeze while copying photos from iPhoto 5 to desktop. After forced shutdown and restart, every time I try to open iPhoto it opens briefly and then shuts down, asking me if I want to send a report to Apple. Tried installing 5.04 update (no problems) but again, on trying to open iPhoto, it immediately closes.
Can someone advise me the steps to go through to "uninstall" what may be a corrputed iPhoto program and reinstall (I have the iLife CD/DVD install discs) without losing my library photos, albums, etc?

    Hi bovie,
It is not the application that is giving you problems. It is a corrupt data file in your iPhoto LIbrary folder.
I am pretty sure you will have to create a new library and import the images from the old.
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!
    Lori

  • HT4628 how to reinstall Mountain Lion if ethernet and wifi are both dead

For unknown reason my MBP network connection keep dropping on both Ethernet and WIFI after i came back from overseas. Been trying to recreate the network setting and retry, it works for a few seconds then went dead. Thinking of reinstalling OSX but, not sure how to perform it since both ethernet and wifi are both sort of dead.
    Any advise will be appreciated.

Head to your System Preferences > Network > Advanced and delete all the network connections.
Next head to your System Preferences > Data and Time and make sure it's correct and being updated with Apple's time server for your location.
Reboot and check the data and time is correct (PRAM reset is in order if it's not)
Connect via wifi and save the password in your Keychain when it asks.

  • How to reinstall Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
Recently when you buy a Mac, you no longer receive the OS on a disc. So if your OS X get's broken or for whatever reason you want to re-install it, how are you suppoed to do it? Is there anyway to burn a backup or something so you can install from that disc when you are in need?
    Thanks.

    TheFacelessNinja wrote:
1- Why it asks for internet in the instructions? Isn't it suppoed to install from a hidden recovery partition?
Because it downloads the OS from Apple's servers...the hidden recovery partition does not contain the OS itself. You can make your own recovery boot disk...use a USB thumb drive...obviously much quicker.
2- And how you can verify that your Mac has one and is functioning?
    Re-boot while holding down Command + R.
3- If you have Windows via Bootcamp, does doing this recovery, affect Windows?
    Nope.
Best thing to do is keep two backups, one being Time Machine, & the other a bootable clone. Do that, & you will be back up & running in minutes if something goes wrong.
