How to reinstall just Safari 2.0

I purchased Tiger months ago and installed it on an external drive to test it with all of my existing software, or updates required to run with Tiger. Over the weekend I decided to do an update on my 10.3.9 system on my internal drive. By mistake my external drive was partially erased so most of the user files are gone. When I installed Tiger everything seems to work correctly except for a few programs like the Adobe CS 2 suite of products that I know I need to reinstall onto the internal drive. But what I did not expect to fail me was Safari 2.0. It will open to my www.usatoday.com home page but none of the graphics are displayed. And other websites, such as www.apple.com don't load at all. I need to know if and how I can reinstall just Safair and still preserve my bookmarks file. Any suggestions?

James, you can reinstall just Safari 2.0 by doing an Optional Install from the Tiger Install DVD. If you want to save your Safari Bookmarks, save the Users/Home/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist. You should update all the Tiger software, QuickTime software, Macromedia Flash Player software, Macromedia Shockwave Player software, RealPlayer software.

  • Missing Java SDK component...how to reinstall just that component?

We seem to be missing the Java SDK componet on our server, which is most likely the cause to why the CMS is not being found.
Can this one component be reinstalled from the software cd?
    Thanks!

I have just tried that...Tomcat looks to be installed.  I had to "start" the service.
But somehow it still has not fixed the problem.
I checked Add/Remove Program List and I don't see that Java SDK in the list, when I thought it had been there before.
Leads me to believe that the Java did not install or install properly.
I am considering a complete uninstall and then reinstall of the software.
What files/directories/database locations should I be backing up before I attempt such a task?
    Thanks.

  • How to reinstall just FCP

I am having a problem with FCP and need to do a reinstall. When I tried this last time I also had to reinstall Motion and Soundtrack plus all the audio discs. I couldn't seem to uncheck the additional installs in my options menu upon installation.
Is there something that I am missing?

You don't say which version of FCP you have, but since you posted in the Final Cut Studio forum (legacy FCP versions), I'll assume it's FCP7 or earlier.
First, and most importantly, you have to make sure you un-install the application properly prior to reinstalling.  Use this freeware app to get it done right: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/  It will un-install all the little bits and pieces that get installed throughout the system - not just in the applications folder.
Once that's done, insert the first install disc.  The installer will give you an option for which applications you want to install.  It may help to read the "Installing Your Software" booklet that came with the install disc set.

  • Trashed Application Folder. How do you reinstall just applications?

    Help,
Anyone know how to reinstall just the applications for Tiger?
Some how my application folder got trashed and emptied.

    Help,
Anyone know how to reinstall just the applications
    for Tiger?
Some how my application folder got trashed and
    emptied.
    Thanks

    PowerBook 1.5ghz
      Mac OS X (10.4.2)
    Again,
Somehow I trashed all my application folders from my PowerBook 1.5ghz with a 80 g HD.
And yes I emptied the trash. It was just all the contents from the application folder.
Nothing worse than clicking on all of your Dock items and getting ? over the icon.
The computer works on its operating system Tiger 10.4.2 now.
Computer came with the original Panther Software pre installed but the computer came from Apple, packaged with Tiger 10.4 upgrade, which I installed.
I have tried reinstalling Applications from the original OEM Software and restore disk from both Panther and Tiger and did not have any luck.
I tried just installing the Applications only and not the operating system.
Besides reinstalling all the Application programs that I have; if that works.
I may have to consider doing a clean install ?
As you know, it's about how much TIME one of these solutions or yours, will take.
I also want a clean running laptop !
So there is the issue of a clean install with all the time with the online updates, etc., etc., ...
Versus being able to reinstall just the Application Files Only.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Before reinstalling TM.app, have you first set TM up in System Preferences->TimeMachine?
I am not sure that the TM app will work until it is set up properly.
That being said, you can use Pacifist to extract an app (or more) from the DVD.

  • How do I update JUST Safari? (I have 6.0.3, Max OS 10.8.3)

    HI everyone,
I have Safari 6.0.3 & y'know, it kinda *****. I'm using Firefox more and more, but prefer Safari.
How do I download a more recent version. I DO NOT want to download the entire new Mac OS update. JUST Safari.

To get a more recent version you need to upgrade OS X. The latest version is installed with Yosemite.

The reason Safari "wiped" is unknown, but try reapplying the OS X 10.6.8 Combo update here:

Your email problems may or may not be related. A more complete explanation of the problem would help.

  • How to reinstall safari browser in my emac power G4 running classic?

how to fix my start-up not open classic and how to reinstall safari browser?

There is no Classic version of Safari.   The earliest version of Safari came out in 2003 and could run on Mac OS X 10.2.   In order to run Safari and Mac OS 9 side by side, you need Mac OS X 10.4.11 or earlier installed to have Classic.
Mac OS X 10.3 was the first to include Safari prebundled.
Your 10.4 installer discs include Safari, which you can extract with http://www.charlessoft.com/ Pacifist.
Your eMac installer discs include the restore application to reinstall Classic environment:

    You cannot delete it.
It is likely on another page, in a folder or restrictiosn are set.
If you still do not locate it then reset the home screen layout.
All of this is covered in the manual.

  • How do I uninstall safari 7 and reinstall safari 6 (snow leopard)?

How do I uninstall safari 7 and reinstall snow leopard? I was on pinterest and it said I needed up to update my browser, so I did and now safari won't open for me since I have 10.6.8. How can I get safari back on my computer? I didn't know that my computer isn't compatible with the new software before I downloaded it and I can't figure out how to uninstall it so I can have my previous version back. Thanks!

Classic Mac operating systems don't run Safari.  I've asked this thread be moved to the appropriate forum.
Read this tip to more properly identify your Mac:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
So we can tell you what will be able to install on it, and what won't.
Is your data backed up from prior to these installs?

Reinstalling Safari won't solve your problem, whatever it is. I suggest you start a new thread with a different title and a description of the actual problem, rather than your conclusion about how it should be solved.

  • How to reinstall safari from original disks

Brand new Macbook Pro, 2 wks old; Safari won't open links in Mail, and I got one error message instructing me to re-install it from the original system disks. But, under "Install bundled apps" on the original disk #1, there is no safari in the package, even under "Customize." The only other option is to install the entire system + apps all over again.
I'm celebrating 20 yrs of mac use this year but am new to leopard and being cautious.
    Thanks for assistance.

    Cynthia,
    Have a look here.
If this is a new machine, and you are having problems that might indicate "broken" software, you probably have a disk error. This is quite common with new computers (Mac or otherwise), and the reason why many prefer too format (erase) a new computer's hard drive right away, then reinstall the system software themselves.
Even though it will take much longer, and you can use the link I have given to install just Safari, I am going to recommend you erase that hard drive and start over.

It would appear that your system is somewhat mangled, and it is time for some general 'servicing'.
    Start here:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.
    Background information here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
    More useful reading here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

For a full description of how to resolve Disk, Permission and Cache Corruption, you should read this FAQ from the X Lab:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html
Reboot your Mac and then perform a Safe Boot:
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Now try downloading and installing again.
