How to reinstall Microsoft Office for Mac after new hard drive?

Recently I had a problem with my Macbook Pro, and unfortunately had to purchase a new hard drive and have it installed. This also led to the loss of data and other things, such as Microsoft Office for Mac. I know this is an Apple community, but I get better answers here than at the Microsoft communities so I'm hoping someone can help find out how to reinstall Microsoft Office 2013. I logged onto my Microsft account and it says that there is no record of me purchasing Microsoft Office on that account but I know thats the account that it was purchased on, so i cannot get my product key to reinstall it as directed. Someone please help!!!!

Try calling MS support and explaining the situation, maybe they will issue a new key.

  • Reinstalling Microsoft Office for Mac?

    Hey Guys,
Quick question from a relatively new Mac user. Ive run Mac for about a year but havent gotten into the deep end of how some of the mechanics work. I have Microsoft Office for Mac uninstalled but it is still sitting in Applications. Unfortunately Open Office doesnt support the complex margins of my resume and I have to reinstall Office with its host of pop ups and add ons. I still have my product key but cannot find a .dmg file anywhere. I looked at downloading a trial and punching in my key but all downloads required payment up front. I am also not aware of what version I have. Also would it be possible to order a copy on disk or is that extra?
Thanx guys you always are able to answer my questions.
    ~Douglas

I have Microsoft Office for Mac uninstalled but it is still sitting in Applications.
Then you haven't uninstalled it!  So which files did you uninstall?
I still have my product key but cannot find a .dmg file anywhere.
You probably trashed it.  More than likely the uninstaller was inside the .dmg file.
I am also not aware of what version I have.
    Highlight the icon>File>Get Info.
Also would it be possible to order a copy on disk or is that extra?
You would need to ask Microsoft since it's their product.  Where did you purchase MW from?  If from the AS, open up the App Store app which is on your Dock.  Click on "Purchases."  Otherwise, you should contact the vendor from where you purchased MW from.

  • Reinstalling Microsoft Office for Mac 2011

I bought Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Home and Student Family Pack (3 users / 3 macs).
If I perform a complete Clean install of Mac OS X snow leopard, then install microsoft office for mac afterwards, will this waste one of my licences. (So then there will only be one more installation left)?

no, it will not waste a license.  I have the same MS Office version on my mac.

  • How to install microsoft office for mac 2011

    office for 2011-
    what's going on?

Assuming the system info at the bottom of your post is correct, MS Office for Mac 2011 requires at least OS 10.5.8 and you've still got 10.5.7. See here. There may be other incompatibilities too (check the link for more info) but your OS is a good place to start.

  • Installed MS Office for Mac, after uninstalling test drive, still reg to TD

I installed MS Office for Mac 2004 this morning, after being very careful to uninstall the test drive version, after reading about problems it causes not to do so. I followed the instructions to uninstall, emptied the trash after, did the installation, updates, etc. But when I look at the "about" section of word, etc, it shows that the product is licensed to "Office 2004 Test Drive User". I did fill in the info on name, address, etc, and the "test version" watermarks that I was seeing on excel spreadsheets pre-installation are gone now. I have rebooted the machine. Do I need to register each application separately? Did I miss something in the uninstall?
Also, after installing the new Office, I had problems accessing the internet from accounts other than the one from which I'd done the installation. I asked about that in the internet related subforum here, thought I had it fixed, but it's been inconsistent, seems to work on-and-off in the different accounts. Did the accessing of the net during the course of the install knock something out of place?

I installed office after deleting test drive. Registration is fine. Microsoft creates a user pref folder for each user account. This will be activated with your individual pref. the first time you open one of the office programs. It will be different/reset for each user on the computer. So it is possible that different users would experience different problems connecting to the internet. I copied my users pref and library folder over from my powerbook to the imac and all of my settings seem to work just fine on the new imac.
My suggestion would be to uninstall all versions of office on your imac and then reinstall office 2004. Be sure to do this in an administrator account and to repair permissions before and after install.
    Good luck!

  • How to reinstall os x 10.7 after replacing hard drive?

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can reinstall my purchased copy of OS X 10.7 (Lion) to my new hard drive. The hard drive in my imac recently died. I had to replace with a new one. It is currently running on 10.6.8 (snow leopard) because I used the CD to put on the OS after formatting. However, I prior to the dead drive, I purchased a Lion and was running on Lion. My purchase was on line so there is no CD. How can I make this upgrade again? Do I have to pay apple again for Lion?
    Thanks

You will ultimately have to download it over the Internet.  Or I don't know, you could take your computer to an Apple Store and have them do it.

  • How can I download Garageband (for free) after my hard drive crashed?

About a month ago my hard drive needed to be replaced, but I hadn't backed anything up onto an external hard drive. Yeah. Needless to say, it's been rough as I'm putting everything back together.  I went to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to have the new hard drive installed. Most of my programs came back when they installed the OS, but iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand were three that didn't make it.  iPhoto and iMovie are back, but GarageBand is not.  How can I get it back on my computer for free? When I bought my computer new, it came with GarageBand, so shouldn't I get it back for free?  Please help!!! I'm a music teacher and I have to record music for my students.  Thanks!

If you associated it with an Apple ID, log into the Mac App Store with that Apple ID, click on the Purchases tab, and download it from there.
If your computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 or newer and you didn't do that or don't have access to that Apple ID, click here and contact Apple.
If your computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from a DVD.

  • Mail for Mac on new hard drive won't import Mail from old hd

I recently installed an additional hard drive (running Tiger), but I kept my old one (running Panther), too, to use as a backup.
After resolving a few snags, the data and apps transferred over OK, but two days ago I (very foolishly) tried to make a change in the name I use as Administrator (or at least that's what I meant to do), and all the apps on my new hard drive forgot their passwords, preferences, etc.
    What a pain!
I'll eventually get all the preferences, etc., set; but Mail on the new hd also lost everything--addresses, trash, sent messages; and that's got me baffled.
My old hd still has Mail on it (including addresses, etc.), but I haven't been able to import data from it to Mail on the new hd.
In the new Mail, under the File menu, when I choose "Import Mailboxes" and select the button for Mail for Mac OS X, then navigate to Mail on my old hd, it's faint and can't be selected.
Suggestions of any kind would really be appreciated. (And from now on, I'll just live with my name being misspelled as Administrator!)
    Thanks a lot,
    Richard
    G4 sawtooth Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Richard,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
When trying to import a pre-Tiger mailbox created with Mail, use type "Other", instead of type OSX.
However, if you can replace any copy of the Mail folder on your Tiger drive, and any com.apple.mail.plist in the Preferences folder of your Tiger drive with copies from your Panther drive, Mail will open to say it is ready to import Mailboxes, and will then convert all the mailboxes at once.
However when finished, you will need to check for leftover files, that can become problematic, and to check to see if full conversion took place. See:

  • How to reinstall from time machine onto a new hard drive?

how to reinstall the system from time machine to a new hard drive?

If you are connected to the internet you can do this.
Boot your computer and immediately hold down command, option and R  (three keys together). This gets you connected with internet recovery.
See this article for more directions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718.
This process installs an OS on your blank drive. You can then boot from the fresh OS installation and restore from your Time Machine back up.
Note that you cannot boot from a TM back up.

  • Cannot get into iTunes and app store on my mac after new hard drive instillation

i had a new hard drive put into my mac recently, and since then i have not been able to access the app store or iTunes on my mac, which will also not allow me to sync my phone to it anymore as it is now not authorized to do such. I have contacted apple support, reinstalled the OS, and have enabled 2 step verification to verify my mac as a device, yet still will not work, is there any other way to fix this?

Well if your machine came with Lion, your going to have to copy someone's Lion Recovery Partition to a USB thumb drive.
If your machine came with or was upgraded to Snow Leopard then your going to have to follow the
Restoring OS X - 10.6  "fresh install method"
Everything for either methods is here, including formatting your new drive:

  • HT203300 Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 no longer syncs contacts and calendars after upgrading to Yosemite

Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 no longer syncs contacts and calendars through iTunes after upgrading to Yosemite. It worked fine until I made the mistake of upgrading. Help!?

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" or "killed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews are not a reason to reinstall the OS.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What other changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

trying to do an upgrade to microsoft office for mac. Asks to Stop deamon and other processes How do I stop?

You switch to the applications that are named, and quit them. But sometimes they are, like daemons, not normal applications. For those, you need to open Activity Monitor, find the name of the daemon in the list of processes in the Activity Monitor window, select the process and choose View/Quit Process.

In Microsoft Office for Mac, how do I highlight sentences or parts of sentences so that the highlighting will show when I print the documeht?

It can depend on the version of Office Mac which we don't know. v2011 is much different from v2008 and earlier. In Word 2008, the highlight tool looks like this in the formatting toolbar:
Default highlight color is yellow. If you cannot find that icon or have a newer version of Office, you really need to ask how to get it to a toolbar in the MS Office:Mac forums at Csound1 suggests. They are very helpful. Find them here:
