How to reinstall  Photo booth?

How do I reinstall Photo Booth?

I know this is an old thread and you didn't state why you wanted/needed to reinstall Photo Booth, but I have the same question because the Photo Booth on my iMac now says "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos" when I launch it. The message continues "Photo Booth encounterred an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time." The option at this point is to click "OK." But when I do that I get the same message.
I used Pacifist to replace the app from the OS installler I have on a USB flash drive and it seemed like everything went fine. There were no messages to think otherwise. After Pacifist replaced it I tried to launch it but got the same message I did before.
With Pacifist you have the choice of either updating the app, or replacing the the app, and I chose "Replace." I wonder if the outcome would be different if I had chosen "Update," but having already replaced it I don't think updating will serve any purpose. I'll try that but in the meantime if anybody has any suggestions I will surely appreciate them. Thanks for any help you may give me.

You will have to install it from the installer DVD as follows:
How to Use Pacifist to Replace Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)

Hi sfriff & welcome to discussions...
If you boot to your Snow Leopard install DVD, you can elect to do a 'custom install' and the choose to just the applications...might be easiest for you in the long run.
Photo Booth is not part of optional installs and can not be installed this way.

  • How to use photo booth with skype???

I can't seem to figure out how to use the photo booth effects with Skype. I would just use iChat but my husband is on a PC and I am on TDY for the military with my MacBook.

    Hi,
There is a folder called Compositions in the system side of things that booth Apple apps of Photo Booth and iChat can access for the Video Effects (And Backdrops on Intel computers in iChat)
Third Party apps such as Skype do not access this folder and therefore do not have Effects.
(there  may be a Skype add-on that has them but I don't use it so I don't know).
It seems CamTwist does work for Skype.
iChat should Video to AIM on a PC (free)  (Or Trillian Pro for a small amount).
Results can vary with AIM  (Post in iChat if you want to know more) but you would then have access to the same effects Photo Booth has.

  • How to recover photo booth

my photo booth is erased! how can i recover?

PhotoBooth is one of those applications that get installed only with OS X, there is no separate bundled installer, so you won't find it on the second grey disks that come with your computer or the bundled programs installer on the first grey disk.
Getting PhotoBooth back onto your computer is complicated because it requires OS X to be reinstatlled, which is no problem if you didn't upgrade to later versions of OS X than what came with the machine.
So until I know more information....
1: What OS X version came with your computer? Look at the original disks if you have them or under the Apple menu > About This Mac.
2: What OS X version are you using now? Did you upgrade and still have the disk?
3: Do you have a external drive that you can store a copy of your files on?
4: Are your disks in working order and ready to go?
5: Are you afraid of erasing your computers hard drive?

  • How to increase photo booth resolution?

photo booth is taking pics at 640x480 only. i think the macbook isight is 2 MP. that means the resolution should be more. any help?

    Hello Ace
You can do it using iMovie as an intermediary. See the following link to bring the PhotoBooth into iMovie. I would add when selecting the resolution you would choose the higher 1024 x 768 resolution as you desire.
    iSight with iMovie by CMCSK
Then after creating a few frames in a short clip, read the following link about how to create a photo from video in imovie by Appleman1958

  • How to download photo booth for mac

    ?

Photo Booth is installed as part of the Mac OS and its related software. If it is not in your Dock, double-click your hard drive icon and open the folder "Applications." Photo Booth should appear there. You can click-drag its icon to the Dock if you prefer to have it quickly available.
Lacking any further information about your Mac and what OS version it it running, that's about all I can offer.

Just got the new MacBook Air and was wondering if there is a way to have programs such as skype and tinychat recognize photobooth as the camera source so i can make the video have effects such as black and white, sepia, etc?
I installed ManyCam and even that didn't recognize anything, the preview stayed a black screen and said there was no camera source.

    Hi Chris,
Hmm I can start to see what you are saying...
The way I have my iphone to PC photo transfer, is through the lightning cable plugin that triggers the Windows Autoplay "Import Pictures and Videos" auto transfer into my selected folder.
So how do I setup "My Photo Stream is for automatically getting photos from your iPhone to your PC without connecting the iPhone to your computer." ?
Does this auto-sync, or do you still need to click sync ?
Do I need to stop using the Windows Autoplay ?
