How to reinstall vista in L 305 - S 5919 from recovery partition

hi,
when i take the recovery partition it shows a "system recovery option" dialogue box. but it is not showing any OS in it. so i clicked on "load drivers" which prompts me to select drivers from the installation media. there i can see my prmary hard disk with 140gb, a 35mb boot drive, 1.46gb toshiba recovery drive, none of which is helpful in selecting the driver. Can anyone help me in selecting the OS?
One more thing is that, when i take disk management from "my computer" properties, there it is showing a drive with 7gb which i am not able to access from anywhere?why is it so?
Expecting replies

thank u jerry...
but, my problem is still unsolved...
i have gone through the link u provided(http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ref=EV&soid=2222431&ct=SB) and also through the userguide. My system is in the second category with 3 partitions...140GB, 1.46GB, 7.22 GB.
And so i suppose all my recovery files and images will be in the 7.22GB partition.
When i start my system i pressed on 0(zero) to go into that partition. But there is no option which provides a recovery. The options present were "select OS" and there windows vista basic is present. If i click on that then the system will boot normally, and no recovery happens. The other option being "check for memory errorrs". That also wont provide any recovery option..
please help me in resolving this problem.

  • Reinstall Mac Os X 10.9 from Recovery Partition

Hi, I have some problems with my Os X, and I want to reinstall it from Recovery Partition. I'm wondering, will I lose all my files after reinstalling?

If you erase and install OS X, you will lose all your data.
If you reinstall OS X, theoretically speaking, you should not lose any data. But there is no guarantee.
You should have a backup before undertaking any such action.
    Best.

  • Unable to reinstall Mountain Lion from recovery partition

    Hi there,
I have formatted my main HDD partition and then boot from recovery partition. I have a MacBook Pro 2011 series. I have reinstalled my Mountain Lion following on screen instructions. But when It's says is OK and 100% installed and begin restart the system, it is unable to boot and automatically boot from recovery partition again.
Can anybody help me? What I have to do?
       Thanks in advance.
       vzuritae.

Why did you start this process in the first place? Was there something wrong with the original install of Mt Lion? Like your system wouldn't startup anymore?
I suspect it is a hardware problem and may be the drive is failing.
Is your Mac a Early or Late 2011 model. Did it come with Lion Pre-installed?
If it came with Lion Preinstalled then you can use the Online Internet Recovery system to first reinstall Lion. At startup hold down the Command+Option/Alt+r keys until you see a spinning globe in the center of the screen. From that screen select Disk Utility and Re-Partition the drive as One partition. Then close DU and select Reinstall Mac OS X. If after the install of Lion is downloaded and finishes the install your system still refuses to boot up properly then you have a hardware problem and only Apple can fix a hardware problem.

  • How to reinstall Vista with no Bloatware??

Hi guys, I was just wondering how to go about reinstalling my Windows Vista Business edition which came preinstalled with all these ads telling me to purchase various stuff from lenovo. Ideally i want to format the whole HDD, remove the hidden parition and just reinstall Windows Vista normally without any of the non-essential things. It didnt come with a Windows Vista install disc rather a rescue and recovery disc and now i accidentally formatted my hidden partition. Cheers

Hi, widgetz! For what you want to do you'll need a partition manager like Paragon Partition Manager or PowerQuest Partition Manager. Of course, any other partition manager will do. You can also use eg, LiveCD Linux distribution like PartEdMagic which is, almost exclusively, used for disk partitioning. Then you partition your hdd. An example of layout for a 120gb hdd might be 20gb for os, 80gb for media and 20 gb for temporary internet/p2p downloads.
Then, as you don't like bloat, your advised to use nLite, a cute little freeware to remove unwanted/not needed/bloated parts of Vista. But if your newbee, then I suggest to install VirtualBox and try everything in a virtual machine and then on  your laptop.

  • How to reinstall Windows 8 on Yoga 13 with damaged Recovery Image?

I changed the partitions on my Yoga 13. Now it is not possible to refresh, reinstall or perform an advance start-up, as it looks like there is no recovery image anymore. The systems is currently very messy and needs a reinstall.
Can someone tell me how to reinstall Windows 8 on the Yoga 13 when the recovery image is lost or damaged?

    hi Chevex,
Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!
In the event that the Recovery partition is not working the only option is to use the Recovery CD that you can create when you first got the computer.
but if you were not able to create a Recovery CD and the Onekey Recovery is not working.
You can get the Recovery CD from the Software Department (Fees may apply to the discs)
you can contact the Hardware Team again and ask to be transferred to Software team for purchasing RCD

  • Reinstalling Mountain Lion from recovery partition

    Hi,
I am trying to reinstall the Mountain Lion OS from my recovery partition. I have already erased my drive and attempted to reinstall like I have always done. This time though it is asking for an apple id that was used to purchase lion. However I went from snow leapord to Mountain Lion, and am trying to reinstall my mountain lion.
I have done this before countless times and it has always worked, but now its not. I can not make a bootable flash drive to use as I already erased my hard drive and this is the only mac I have.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

What model MBP do you have?  Did it come with installation disks?  You may have to use those first before you can install Mt. Lion.

  • How to restore a Time machine backup and get a recovery partition?

    Hi,
    I'm quite confused!
I restored from a Time Machine backup and then setup boot camp (and removed that partition a while back) and now I don't have a recovery partition. (Can't enable File Vault and

Apparently I need the recovery partition to reinstall Lion from the internet.
"Recovery HD offers on-disk recovery tools, allows you to restore from Time Machine backups, reinstall OS X Lion over the Internet..."
The recommended solution from Apple seems to be reinstall with your OSX 10.6 CD (which I don't have) and then upgrade to Lion (which seems like a PITA).

What process should I follow to restore my recovery partition and apply the current state of the machine from a backup?
(the process should not involve anything I don't have, like USB memory sticks, Lion CDs, etc....)
Supplementary questions which are only relevant if the answer is "you can't" (which would seem to be a major bug!) :
Or is there a clever method to install a recovery partition onto an existing disk (which clearly has space for it)? I have searched for it but all the results I found have either not mentioned that it works without reinstalling but look like it's needed, or do say "reinstall".
If I install Lion to an external disk, can I boot from that and use the recovery disk assistant tool to restore the partition to my internal disk? (Which I assume I'll need to do to get FileVault to work) ?

  • How do I create an install disk from recovery partition to install on a blank hd

So, my hard drive is slowly dying . . . about all I'm able to access is the recovery partition. I bought a new hard drive to replace it, but no longer have the install disks that came with the computer. How do I make install disks from the recovery partition that I can use to install Mountain Lion back onto the new hard drive?

    You have two possibilities:
    1. Open App Store > Purchases and download Mountain Lion. When the download has finished, open Lion Diskmaker to make a bootable Mountain Lion USB drive > http://blog.gete.net/lion-diskmaker-us/
    2. Download Recovery Disk Assistant from the Support website to create a Recovery HD on your USB drive.
The difference between them is that the first contains OS X Mountain Lion, so you won't have to download Mountain Lion from the App Store when you are going to install Mountain Lion

I've created a new partition (so i could use it as data room)

BUT the partition still exists and i can see the inside files from windows
IS IT a way to extract the files from the recovery partition or any other clue how i could fix the partition scheme so the RECOVERY MEDIA CREATOR could recognize it
    Many thanks for your time...

    >I've created a new partition (so i could use it as data room)
    This was a mistake
The HDD partition table has been modified and changed which means that the Toshiba recover media creator would not find the essential files in order to create the Recovery disk or recovery USB flash memory stick.
What you could try to do is to reset the notebook back to factory settings.
For this you can use the option called Reset your PC.
    Details here:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm
After that the partition table should be set to the same state like at the first day of purchase and you could try to create the recovery disk once again.
Otherwise if this does not help you, the recovery disk could be ordered as mentioned by user xaver

  • How can I manually install software from recovery partition?

    Hi,
I'm looking for information about how install preinstalled software after OS upgrade.
As far as I can see, it is done through 3 different locations:
    Recovery partition (D: drive)
    SMINST Folder (located in %Windows%)
hp Folder (invisible folder in C
First step is to identify the machine (brand/model) to allow installation.
    Then, scripts will install packages.
It should the be possible to manually install the software from the recovery partition.
As far as this software is bought with the computer (so part of the price) and there is no way of getting the original installers from the support website (only updates available), it would be "fair" to be able to perform a manual install...
Is there anyone with this knowledge?
Thx in advance for your help.

I cannot believe no one replied to you.   I am having the same problem.  I can print but not scan thru the MFNP feature. I'm not sure how/why it is working for printing.   I setup the print driver on all my client laptops to my wifi router/access-point such that its SNMP-enabled on channel 1.  The MNFP port said 161 on the printer when it was working.  Not sure these two protocols are the same... SNMP and MNFP.  I think the latter is Canon's own protocol...not sure how to get it to work with my network. I have a Netgear RV6300 access point connected via wired ethernet to the cable modem which is by Arris (one of those all-in one routers/switch/WAP -- but I'm using the Netgear as my WAP for my WLAN, although the printer gets a DHCP assigned IP on the main router - 10.0.0.9)  At one point I had it set up as static IP 10.0.0.200.  Maybe I will switch back to that...don't know if it will fix scanning though.

  • How do i know if my Laptop has an inbuilt recovery partition?

I'm currently trying to learn as much as possible, not being a IT Professional, about the all of the "important" concepts, definitions, schematic workflows, etc. about Arconis's True Image 2015 backup capabilities. One of the basic questions I have for my Lenovo W530 is whether I should do a file backup(s) or a disk/partition image?
    Thanks for the help,
    Darren

Right off the bat, I'll admit that I know zero about the Acronis product.  I tried using it several years ago but didn't like it's GUI.
I myself use Macrium Reflect for "system image" backups, and also NovaBACKUP for "data folder/file" backups.  Note that both products can produce BOTH types of backups, but I just prefer the GUI and functionality of Macrium Reflect when working with "system image" backups/restores, and likewise I just prefer the GUI and functionality of NovaBACKUP when dealing with "data folder/file" backups/restores.  Obviously this is just my personal preference, as many users utilize just one of these two products to accomplish both of their backup/restore needs.
Which really addressess the essence of your question.  There really are TWO separate backup/restore needs in my opinion.  I use Macrium Reflect to take weekly "system image" backups (of the "system reserved" partition and my C partition) on all of my machines.  This is to provide a reasonably up-to-date guaranteed bootable version of Windows, in the event some disaster strikes and I lose the integrity of my current operational Windows.  Reverting to last weekend's "system image" as a solution is truly a last-resort emergency measure, but at least I know that's available in the background as an almost 100% guaranteed successful recovery mechanism if it's needed.
More commonly available for many non-critical Windows problems is to simply do a "system restore point" recovery, from the last restore point which was taken before you did something most likely responsible for why your Windows system is now corrupted or non-functioning, or mal-functioning.  Many times this is all it takes to get Windows working properly again.  Note that even if things are now so bad that you can't get all the way to the Windows desktop any longer, you can still "boot to command line" and then enter the command to tell Windows to restore things to how they looked at the "last successful boot".  This is also often successful.
Anyway, having something like a weekly (or more often, if you are paranoid or if having an up-to-date "system image" of your system is critical just in case you need to restore it) "system image" backup is CRUCIAL, in my opinion.  But remember, your "system image" backups are of the entire partition, not folder/files where selective recovery is possible.  You restore the entire image, meaning your restore the entire partition as it looked when the "system image" backup was taken.
Note that Macrium Reflect comes in a free and non-free version.  I use the non-free version (which is very modestly priced) because there are several additional features (e.g. automatic "space management" to delete older backup generations automatically, beyond whatever maximum number of generations you want to retain) that I make use of. Also, the non-free version supports "data folder/file" backups (which I don't use), whereas the free version only supports "system image".
Now on the other topic, I feel it is also crucial to take "data folder/file" backups, also on a regular basis. In my case I use NovaBACKUP on the 1st of every month to take a "FULL" backup, i.e. of ALL of my folders/files from all partitions that I want to backup regularly (and that is from my C-partition as well as from all other partitions on my four hard drives, i.e. partitions D-M across the four hard drives).
I retain three back-level generations of these 1st-of-the-month FULL backups, in addition to the current generation from the most recent 1st-of-the-month.
I then also take nightly "INCREMENTAL" backups each night at 2AM (my primary computer is on 24/7), covering all of the folders/files on all of my C-M partitions. An INCREMENTAL backup is concerned only with (a) new files created since the last FULL or INCREMENTAL backup, and (b) changed/renamed files touched since the last FULL or INCREMENTAL backup.  In other words, anything I create or modify "today" (i.e. since last night's INCREMENTAL backup) is backed up on tonight's upcoming INCREMENTAL backup.
So I have daily INCREMENTAL backups for everything I've worked on that day, along with 1st-of-the-month FULL backups for everying.  Note that I don't take "data folder/file" backup of the \Windows folder on C, because it's very large, and also I will never need to recover anything from it (as it is my Macrium Reflect "system image" backups which I look to for my Windows recovery in the event of a true disaster).  I only take "data folder/file" backups of my true data on all my partitions, as well as most of C (but not \Windows).
Again, I retain three back-level generational sets of all INCREMENTAL backups, including the current month. This gives me somewhere between 3 and 4 complete months of "daily recovery capability", where through the functionality of NovaBACKUP I can recover ANYTHING that existed on ANY DAY of the last 90-120 days and which existed long enough so that it made it to any nightly INCRMENTAL or monthly FULL backup during that period.
NovaBACKUP provides an optional "time-based restore" technique in addition to its "specific restore from a specific backup file", where I can request "the most current" version of any file which exists on any backup dataset (either FULL or INCREMENTAL) AS OF A GIVEN DATE.  Whatever the most recent backed-up version of that file is as of the specified date, that file is restored (from whatever backup dataset it happens to be contained on).  In other words, by default a request to recover a file is for "the most current version".  But you can use a time-slider GUI to specify an older date than current date, if you actually do want to recover an older version.  Very nice feature.
Anyway, taking monthly/nightly "data folder/file" backups which includes selective folder/file recovery (either from "the most current available" or "from some date/time in the past") is a tremendous capability.  Also, retaining several prior complete monthly backup "sets" (i.e. the 1st-of-the-month FULL backup along with all related following nightly INCREMENTAL backups throughout the month), and automatically purging the older complete generational sets (which NovaBACKUP does), well this is a tremendous convenience.
All of my backups, both "system image" through Macrium Reflect as well as "data folder/file" through NovaBACKUP, are taken to a 2TB external USB 3.0 hard drive.  All backup jobs from both products are scheduled to run overnight when I'm generally not using the machines.
I have this exact same setup (with unique 2TB external USB 3.0 hard drives) on each of my three machines, two desktop machines as well as one laptop machine.
Note that both software products include "catch-up" functionality to perform any needed backup jobs which for some reason (e.g. the machine was powered off when the automatic scheduled backup job was supposed to run) were missed.  At the next opportunity (e.g. when the machine is next powered-on and booted), the missed backup job is either performed automatically or at the very least prompts you to decide whether you want to take it now or not.
You don't need to keep 3-4 complete sets of backups, for both "system image" as well as for "data folder/file", if your own needs don't require that much "daily recovery" capability.  But if you have a 2TB backup drive, there's probably no problem with having enough space.  You certainly do want no less than 2 complete older generation backup sets, along with this month's ongoing set.
Hope this provides some insights to the subject. What's important is that you DO establish some regular backup regimen to guarantee that you will not lose any irreplaceable data.  This includes also guaranteeing that you always have a recovery method that in worst case gets you back to a bootable working Windows system environment.
Note that in some recovery situations, you may have to restore C back to last weekend's "system image", but that will also put you back to last weekend for any data folders/files on C (e.g. in \Users).  In that case your recovery method will not only make use of your most recent "system image", but also any relevant "data folder/file" backups taken since the "system image" you just restored was taken.
This will get all of your data on C back up to date as of last night's INCREMENTAL backup as the most recent version you have available.  You do run that risk of losing whatever you worked on from last night's INCREMENTAL backup to right now, if you don't have an opportunity to take a "most current" special backup of your data on C before being forced to restore last weekend's "system image".  That's life.

  • Qosmio G30: How can I install only Ulead Dvd movie factory from Recovery image

    Hi everybody
I have question about Ulead dvd movie factory.
First, I bought my G30 with XP when it was the moment of the offer "vista for a few euros".
So, I installed Vista with the official CD from Toshiba. But there was no longer Ulead Dvd movie Factory. As the XP's restoration CD is only an image disk, I can't install from it.
Has anybody a solution for me?
    Thank's.
    BR.

I think there is a solution!
I found the Ulead DVD Movie Factory utility on the Toshiba page.
I searched in the Qosmio G30 area but without to be successful.
But I checked other sections and selected Satellite Satellite A series Satellite A200 (PSAEC) Vista and found the Ulead DVD Movie Factory 5.51.0147.03 version
Download it a try to install this tool.
    Should works!

You should be able to tap the F11 key when you first power on the notebook and it will load the HP Recovery Manager.  If you have problems with it loading, look through these HP troubleshooting documents for your friend's notebook.
