Since you have data you want to recover, and in re-reading your first post, let's see if we can get your system started again.
On power up, as soon as you see the Toshiba logo, repeatedly press the 'F8' key to try to enter the Advanced Boot Options (ABO) menu. In the ABO menu, if the option is available, select 'Repair your computer', then select 'Startup Repair'

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
Let the Startup Repair run, this could take a while. When it is finished try to reboot into Windows again.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • How to reinstall windows 8 on bootcamp

how to reinstall windows 8 on bootcamp macbook pro, without losing anything on OS (Apple) side

Start Bootcamp Assistant then select the option to remove Windows and return your drive to a single partition. Once Windows is removed start Bootcamp Assistant again and select the option to install Windows. Follow the Bootcamp instructions for installing Windows.
This process will not cause lose of OSx data or applications if done correctly. But as allways, create a good backup of your data because things sometimes go wrong or instructions are not followed causing data lose.

  • How to reinstall Windows 8 on Yoga 13 with damaged Recovery Image?

I changed the partitions on my Yoga 13. Now it is not possible to refresh, reinstall or perform an advance start-up, as it looks like there is no recovery image anymore. The systems is currently very messy and needs a reinstall.
Can someone tell me how to reinstall Windows 8 on the Yoga 13 when the recovery image is lost or damaged?

    hi Chevex,
Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!
In the event that the Recovery partition is not working the only option is to use the Recovery CD that you can create when you first got the computer.
but if you were not able to create a Recovery CD and the Onekey Recovery is not working.
You can get the Recovery CD from the Software Department (Fees may apply to the discs)
you can contact the Hardware Team again and ask to be transferred to Software team for purchasing RCD

  • How to reinstall Windows 10

Hi, I have a laptop with Windows 8 in the factory image.I installed Windows 10 but had some issue with 3rd party softwares. It's a general question, not related to a laptop model.  How to reinstall Windows 10 ? Do I need to put back the factory image ? It's seems the Windows 10 upgrade works only with Windows 8.1 With the factory image, the steps will be: -Restore the factory image
-Install all windows update in Windows 8.0 to get the Windows 8.1 update
    -update drivers
    -Install Windows 8.1
-Install all windows 8.1 update to get Windows 10-Install Windows 10
It's seems to be a very long process.
What's the recommended way to reinstall Windows 10 ?
    Thanks

I don't want to do a clean. I don't want to install every driver. Is it possible to upgrade the Windows 8 factory image (not 8.1) directly to Windows 10, keeping all drivers ?  There is 144 important update in Windows 8, only to have access to Windows 8.1 installation page in Windows store.  I don't want to take one week to install Windows 10

  • How to split Windows Vista DVD image?

I would like to ask how to split windows vista DVD image into specific size using Windows PE Tools Command Prompt.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
You can try the following method:
    1.   Install UltraISO and Windows AIK.
    Windows AIK:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=94bb6e34-d890-4932-81a5-5b50c657de08&DisplayLang=en
    2.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD and extract install.wim under the Sources folder to the local hard drive, for example: D:\Vista\sources\install.wim.
    3.   Run Windows PE Tools Command Prompt in elevated mode and type the following command:
    imagex /split D:\vista\sources\install.wim D:\temp\install.swm 380
Note: D:\vista\sources\install.wim is the name and location of the file which will be split from. D:\temp\install.swm is the name and location of the target file. 380 is each target file size.
Note: Before doing this, make sure partition D has at least 5GB of free disk space.
    After that, you will get 6 target files named install.swm, install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm in D:\temp.
    4.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD. Delete install.wim under the Sources folder and drag install.swm to this folder. Save the whole disk to the local hard drive and we will get CD1.
    5.   Open UltraISO and create a new folder named Sources. Drag install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm to the Sources folder. Save install2.swm to the local hard drive and we will get CD2. Use the same method to create CD3, CD4, CD5 and CD6.
    6.   Burn the iso files to CDs.
The steps above can be a little complex. I recommend obtaining a DVD drive to install Windows Vista.
    Hope it helps.

The OEM license is tied to the original motherboard version, ie M2N68-LA. You lose the OEM "rights" when you changed the board.

  • Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit

I'm looking at the customisable configurations, and I see that you offer 8GB RAM but that a 64-bit system is required to support it. At the same time, the only option that explicity says it's 64-bit is the Business edition of Vista, which I definitely do not need. Is there any way to specify an order with Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?
Yes, I know what I'm talking about and I need the power, but none of the administrative nonsense associated with the Business addition. From Wikipedia:
"Similar to Windows XP Home Edition, Home Basic targets budget-conscious users not requiring advanced media support for home use. ... Home Basic supports one physical CPU, but with multiple cores. 64-bit Home Basic supports up to 8 GB of RAM. ... Comparable to Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Windows Vista Business Edition targets the business market. It includes all the features of Home Basic with the exception of Parental Controls and the Windows Vista Standard theme. This edition can join and participate in a Windows Server domain. It includes Internet Information Services, fax support, Rights Management Services client, Encrypting File System, system image backup and recovery, Offline Files, a single user Remote Desktop server, ad-hoc P2P collaboration capabilities, Shadow Copy support which provides access to previous versions of files, support for Tablet PCs, and other business oriented management features. The Vista Business edition supports up to two physical CPUs. 64-bit Business supports 128 GB of RAM."
I'm looking at a configuration with a high-power, dual-core processor and 8GB RAM with the 2GB disk cache on top of that for, among other things, high-volume, intense audio processing. None of the extras associated with Business are things I need, but I do need a 64-bit system to utilise 8GB RAM. Frankly, I just really don't want to have to pay $79 simply for the RAM support, I don't want to deal with it through Microsoft, and although the basic edition is apparently not eligible for a free Windows 7 upgrade, I can cross that bridge when I come to it.
    My questions:
If I'm configuring a machine with >3GB installed memory, will it by default be configured with the 64-bit version of the edition of Windows I've selected?
If so, will there be a cost difference? There is no cost difference between the listed 32- and 64-bit versions of the Business edition.
If not, is there any way to make this simple change on my order? Does Levono even ship Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?
    Solved!

Okay, good to know. I still need to know whether I can get Levono to ship my machine with the configuration I've selected, only with Vista Basic 64-bit
SInce Lenovo don't offer either type of Vista Home in a X64 version, the answer is quite simply, no.

what would be most cost-effective would also be appreciated.
Sweating on the OS cost when you are planning to put an expensive 8 GB of RAM into a system seems to be quite cost-ineffective IMO!

  • Tx2517ca From Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

    Hi Everyone,
I have a very specific question. I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I want to use Windows 7. However, I want to use Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (rather than Windows 7 Home Premium) and understand that this will require a clean install.
Before I purchase Windows 7 Professional, I want to make sure that this can be done correctly. Does anyone know if this is possible or have already done this?
I have downloaded and ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which told me that I would be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, but it does not mention Windows 7 Professional at all. I'm assuming this is because it would require a clean install.
    Thanks for your time,
    Lauren

thanks ... I see now from your other post that you're probably getting either a "missing QuickTime.msi" message or being told that a "newer version of QuickTime" is installed when you try to go ahead and uninstall QuickTime after you're told about the Key?
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Satellite A110 - How to reinstall Windows XP?

    Hi,
I have a very serious problem. I had to format my hard drive, and now, I want to reinstall Windows XP OS on my machine. The serial key is written under my keyboard, but I don't know how to specify it during the installation process.
Can i write an email to Toshiba asking for a new DVD copy of the OS?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dani

    Hi
Im a little bit confused now. Why do you want a new installation disk if you dont know how to use the product key on the bottom side?
Do you have a XP disk at the moment?
The product key on the bottom side of the notebook cant be used with a normal XP installation disk that you can buy in every computer shop. This is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled XP version.
So you can ask an authorized service provider for a new recovery disk or you buy a normal XP disk but then you have to use the product key that is delivered with the XP disk.

  • How to Reinstall Windows on Existing Bootcamp Partition

I've been running Windows 7 under Bootcamp on my 2011 MacBookPro. I've run into a situation where Windows7 will no longer install updates. I worked one day with Microsoft for over an hour but they could not find what was causing the problem. FYI, when looking into this problem, the error code that is produced is Error Code 8007010B. I have found nothing substantial online in regards to this code.
I've used Winclone (a Mac application) in the past without issues to restore a Boot Camp Windows partition. Since purchasing Winclone 3.4 I've made several backups, but now that I am actually trying to restore one of those backups I'm getting a message:
"the image you are attempting to restore does not contain the correct information".
So I am frustrated and have emailed twocanoes.com, the Winclone publisher and waiting for their answer.
    Working with Bootcamp
I'm trying to figure out the steps I need to reinstall Windows from scratch in an existing bootcamp partition. Do I need to start from scratch with Bootcamp, or can I reinstall Windows from inside Windows? If I do the latter, how do I prompt Bootcamp to reinstall the Apple drivers?
    Other Issues FYI
I'm having trouble locating the Windows 7 instal DVD I originally purchased. I do have the serial number. So I've downloaded a copy of Windows 7 from the  MyDigitalLife Windows7 Repository.
I have burned the iso image to a DVD. I've got 2 versions, one is the .iso file burned onto the DVD, the other are the contents of the .iso file burned to DVD. I assume to install Windows, it will want the one with the contents of the Windows installer burned to it? Any other issues I may be unaware of regarding this kind of Windows install?
Is there any advantage of reinstalling Windows from a USB Flash drive as compared to a DVD? Just curious.
Finally, for Activation, because this copy of Windows is going back into the same Bootcamp partition on the same hardware, will I have to reactivate Windows? If so, suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Dave

I appreciate the help. Can you tell me what are the steps to tell Bootcamp to install drivers into a Windows install? Thanks!
Update: I looked at the Bootcamp Assistant instructions and now I understand your answer. Info here:
"Step 4: Install the Windows support software
After installing Windows, install Mac drivers and other support software for Windows. The
support software installs Boot Camp drivers to support your Mac hardware, including AirPort
devices, the built-in camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and the function
keys on an Apple keyboard. The software also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows
and the Apple Boot Camp system tray item.
You can download the support software by selecting the “Download the latest Windows support
software from Apple” option in Boot Camp Assistant. The support software must be copied to a USB flash drive formatted in MS_DOS FAT. If the installer does not start automatically, doubleclick the setup.exe file in the Bootcamp folder."
If you or anyone have any other tips, they would be appreciated. As this appears to happen with Windows quite frequently, and I've had to do it multiple times over the years, I'm not looking forward to it.
