How to relocate a Data Centre

Dear Netpro gurus,
I have been tasked with relocation of the Data Centre at work.  does anyone out there who has any good tips / articles on how to do a successful Data Centre re-location?
Cheers,
Hunt

Questions thay i would ask if i get something similar...
- how much is the bearable downtime
- Does the network topology gives flexibility to use new ip subnets so that i may prepare some functionality at destination site before relocation.
- do i have the complete design document of existing DC physical connectivity
- Have i already been provided with the internet/intranet links at new site
- do i have planned for the power, space and cooling requirements for my infra and have i done the dite survey to know if that has been provisioned
- have the resources from each stakeholder been identified, engaged and scheduled
- do i have the checklist for all the network and service readiness tests to be done after thr relocation...

  • How to access a Network Share between two servers in same data centre

I have two dedicated servers (both Windows 2012 Server) hosted in a data centre somewhere.   I want to share a folder on one server with the other server, but it's obviously not as straight forward as one might think.  My servers are called "Maximus"
    and "Apprentice".
On Maximus I shared a folder by right clicking on it and choosing "Share with... / Specific People", I then typed in the name of a local user account which also exists on Apprentice with the same name and password.  (so each server has a local
user account with the same name and password).
So then on Apprentice, I was hoping I could access the share (while being logged in as this user with whom the folder was shared) by simply typing  "\\ipaddress\sharename" into the address bar in file explorer.  Unfortunately it comes
back with "Windows can not access [ip address]".
Now, I do have a website setup on the IP address for Maximus.  This is actually the reason I want to create this share.  I need the second server for load balancing and need to share IIS config as well as the website itself.  (So I will need
two shares eventually, but for now I'm just trying to get one to work).  I don't know if the fact that the ip address is pointing to the website is causing me problems here or if it's something else.
Are there any network gurus out there who can tell me what the issue is and how to resolve it?

I can ping both servers in either direction, but I believe I may have found the problem.  Apparently my host is blocking port 445 which Windows wants to use to connect to the share and they will not unblock it.
Is there a way to connect to the share through a different port?
To my knowledge, you cannot change the port. However, you can try disabling your security software for testing. If this fixes the problem then you need to adjust your security software configuration so that traffic on this port is not blocked or filtered.

  • Moving Data Centre

Due to a planned closure of a data centre we are having to relocate one of our Ironport C370 Servers.  This is one of two servers within a cluster.  The second server is within a different data centre and therefore not affected.  The move will obviously require new IP addresses.  Does anyone have a planned procedure or advice on how to move the server without causing any outage?
I am also concerned about getting a poor Senderbase score on the new IP address.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hey Jonathan,
Is your cluster set up using hostnames or IPs?
If its hostnames, you should be able to do the following (basically sort of like doing an upgrade):
    clusterconfig disconnect machinename
Move it to new data center
    Change IP's
    Update Firewalls/DNS A records
Flush DNS caches on your other ESA boxes
    custerconfig reconnect
If you have the cluster configured using IPs you may have to remove the box from the cluster and then re-add it...
    Hope that helps,
    Ken

  • How to relocate table in new tablespace in Oracle 8i

    Hi all
I would like to know how to relocate table from one tablespace to another tablespace in Oracle 8i. Currently, I create new table without data in new tablespace and then load data from old table in old tablespace. However, I think it is not efficient at all. Could anyone kindly advise any method to proceed it
    Thanks

Nick has pointed out the best way to relocate a table. With the alter table move command you do not have to worry about FK or any other kind of constraints, table triggers, or grants. They all remain in place. You just need to rebuild the indexes as Nick pointed out.
There were some restrictions on the types of tables that could be moved with alter table move when the command first was introduced. I think LOB columns were unsupported at first. The old exp/imp had to be used for those cases.

  • How to Add the cost centre  in the KSBB report

    Hi Experts,
How can we add cost centre in KSBB report. Is it possible to add? if yes could any one guide me how to add the cost centre in KSBB report?
    waiting for your replies,
    Regards

    Hi,
I see only three possible explanations:
    a) no data on this cost centre
    b) authorizations
    c) 'hard-coded' filter in the relevant report (only if it's user-developed report)

  • SQL Server multiple data centres - Synchronization

    Hello,
I am new to MSSQL. We have a web application that used MSSQL 2012 as backend. We now plan to have the same application hosted in another data centre. We are able to provide the geo-redundancy/HA for the web application.
But we also need to make sure that our SQL databases are always in SYNC. The web application in primary data centre is always going to serve all requests. The backup application will only be online if the primary data centre server is down or in maintenance
    mode (once every two weeks).
How can we achieve the SQL replication (both ways) over the WAN making sure that all data is up-to date. We have users constantly updating information so data is written frequently to the DB (every 5-10 minutes on average).
    Thanks
    SinghP80

Take a look at MERGE replication.

  • SAP Data Centres: Data At Rest Encrypted?

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_byd1502/en/ktp/Products/96e54f70e7b2450895d71966b531edf7/Publishing/Guides/SecurityGuide.pdf
    Hello everyone,
A quick one: I was having a look through the PDF at the above URL ('SAP Business ByDesign, SAP Cloud For Customer, and SAP Cloud For Travel Expense: Security Guide), and it struck me that I couldn't find a single reference to data at rest in their data centres being encrypted. There's lots of talk about transport security and IDSs, physical security etc. --- but I didn't spot anything about actual encryption of data at rest. Is anyone knowledgeable on this subject able to enlighten me? It seems like a no-brainer that they would do so, of course, but I don't like to assume anything and would like to know what their confidentiality, integrity, etc. measures are for this. Thanks!
    Lewis

    Hi,
    My scenario is similar.
Let us assume User A who is not supposed to see particular BEXquery Connection in BI Launch Pad in SAP BO BI 4.0
    This can be accomplished at
    1) BI end by creating analysis Authorization for a BI/BEX query unless a SAP Single Sign on enabled.
Question A) Can't this be done without SAP Single Sign on enabled? if so what are the other options? from SAP BI end.
Question B) Can you please advice steps In CMC how this can be done?
Is it possible that user in BI Launch Pad not able to have option "Select a Bex Query as datasource" all together ?
    if so,
Question C) Can you please advice steps In CMC how this can be done?
    Thank you,
    Venu

  • Replicate File Server from Europe to Singapore data centre

Hi we would like to store 1 tb of blob data in Azure.
We would like to upload the data in London and then have a read only copy of the data be replicated to ideally the Singapore azure data centre.
    Is this possible.
    thanks

    Hi Jonnly,
Irrespective of whether you opt for Geo-redundant storage type OR  Read-access geo-redundant storage type for your storage account, the secondary region is determined based on the primary region, and cannot be changed.
You may refer the following link to know the Primary region and their respective Secondary region:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn727290.aspx
However, you can create two different storage account in London and Singapore separately and copy the data between two Storage accounts.

  • WAAS Mobile HA between 2 Data Centres

We have to deploy WAAS Mobile between 2 Data Centres, with remote user connecting to either DC across VPN & then connecting to a local WAAS Mobile server. We are trying to understand the best way to configure this from the available documentation on CCO.
We are a bit confused re the role of the WAAS Mobile Manager Server.
Is this similar to the role of Central Manager on normal WAAS, i.e configuration/management etc, or does it have any function in the selection of the server a client will connect to.
Regarding HA & Load balancing of the connections between the Data Centres, this is how we think we should deploy it!
Deploy a Server Farm at each DC & use the Latency based method of farm selection. This way the client should connect to the local server farm, based on which DC the VPN connects to?
Is this correct, has anyone deployed WAAS mobile in this way or have any advice?
    Thanks
    Colin

Fabricpath is L2; not related to the L3 technology you want to use; if VRF are in use you can just use VLANs which is described in your first scenario : "use 2 routers with VRF lite configuration in each DC, then dot1q on the trunk through the Fabric Path"

  • FabricPath & Layer-3 VPNs (VRF) between 2 Data Centres

    Hi there,
I'm looking at deploying FabricPath for layer-2 extension between 2 Data Centres.
We also have the requirement for providing layer-3 services between the 2 DC, as in Layer-3 VPN (MPLS VPN).
The alternative technology was MPLS, with full blown Layer-3 VPN, and Layer-2 VPNs through AToM or VPLS.
My question is, how can we provide VRF support over FabricPath?? Can we use 2 routers with VRF lite configuration in each DC, then dot1q on the trunk through the Fabric Path? Or just VRF Lite on the layer-3 terminating routers, with a specific VLAN for interconnecting the different VRFs?
    Thanks,

  • SoundTrak Crashed!! How I got my data back.

If you get the beachball during a record, by what could be the screen saver kicking in or the disk drive going to sleep (all of which should be disabled to start with), then you might get a file which shows size and a good time of creation, but it won't play or show a waveform. In fact even Audacity won't touch it.  Here's how to recover the data. Hopefully you know your settings you were using, aka 48khz, 44.1 etc.  For the sake of this post, I used 24bit 44.1khz AIFF sample rescue information.  Bear with me.
First locate your bad file in the soundtrak pro recordings folder. Duplicate it. Note its size. Take the copy and get it to the desktop. Do not muck with the original.
Download the 0xED (thats the name) hex editing app.  You can also have a dupe file of a working file from an earlier session. Your going to want to copy it as well and put it on your desktop. You'll need the header info from it.
Open your known good file wih 0xED. Highlight and copy from the beginning of that file address 0000000 thru 0000FF7 with a contrl C on the keyboard.
Open your bad file copy. They can both be opened at the same time.  Highlight those same addresses and contrl V that data into your bad file.  Pay close attention thats all you changed. Nothing should have shifted anywhere else. If you screwed up, cntrl Z out of that and try it again until it looks like a clean paste. Yes the data is going to be different in your paste operation as thats why your file is hosed to begin with. Hopefully you just now patched your file.  SAVE the potential repaired file using the save icon in 0xED. Open our repaired file
with Audacity, or SoundTrak Pro. You should have a workable file now.  If not, go back and try again as perhaps you messed something up or didnt save the repair properly.  Its crucial you use data from a good file of the same settings to fix the bad one. If your not sure of the settings you used, try a couple possibilities. Most people use the same settings with only a few variations so your choices should be few hopefully. NOTE: To test your file, close out all instances of the bad file in Sountrak Pro or your new file won't chck out if it is indeed fixed. DO a fresh load of your new file into a freshly started Sountrak Pro or Audacity.
What else have I used? I used SoundHack a few times. Its a bit strange and clunky. The results are hard to nail down. I ended up with a file that played like MickeyMouse but I was able to use Audacity to cut the speed down by 50% and save the audio.
The problems I encountered to get me to this point were as described in the beginning of this write up. I had the beachball. One time Sountrak just quit without warning. Again, the data was there but just wasnt closed out properly.
I hope this saves someone from a disaster. It saved me. I never gave up.
    cheers
    Johnny
P.S.  Here's the data for an AIFF 44.1k 24 bit good file if it can be of use. You'd want to place it right over your bad file in 0xED. No guarantees. Make sure your muckng with a copy and NOT your original file...... (yes thats 4C twice, thats not a misprint)

if you did not do a back up of your phone and memory card there is no way to get back the information. you can't roll back anything the memory or firmware once done is done for good. sorry i know this is not good news

  • How can I Move data from one column to another in my access table?

I have two columns, one that stores current month’s data and one that stores last month’s data. Every month data from column 2 (this month’s data) needs to be moved to column 1 that holds last month’s data. I then null out column 2 so I can accumulates this month’s data.
I understand how to drop a column or add a column, how do I transfer data from one column to another.
    Here is my trial code:
    <cfquery name="qQueryChangeColumnName" datasource="#dsn#">
      ALTER TABLE leaderboard
      UPDATE leaderboard SET  points2 = points3
    </cfquery>
Unfortunately, I get the following error:
    Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in ALTER TABLE statement.
How can I transfer my data with the alter table method?

I looked up the Access SQL reference (which is probably a
good place to start when having issues with Access SQL), and
it suggests you probably need a WHERE clause in there.
I agree the documentation is a good place to start. But you should not need a WHERE clause here.
    Too few parameters. Expected 1.
If you run the SQL directly in Access, what are the results? At the very least, it should provide a more informative error message..

  • How do i transfer data from one internal tabe to another.

    Hi All,
How do i transfer data from one internal tabe to another.
Can i do it ebven if he tables are different in structure.
    Please Advice.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Saket Tiwari,
I hope the earlier post by kashyap is good enough an answer. anywas in addition to it let me give a detailed
explanation of how you can populate an internal table.
    1) Append data line by line.
Syntax :  APPEND [<wa> TO / INITIAL LINE TO] <itab>.
this appends new line to internal table <itab>.
    2) Using COLLECT statement.
COLLECT is another form of statement used for populating the internal tables.  Generally COLLECT is used while inserting lines into an internal table with unique standard key. The syntax for COLLECT statement is as shown
         Syntax : COLLECT [<wa> INTO] <itab>.
    3) Using INSERT statement
Syntax  INSERT [<wa> INTO / INITIAL LINE INTO] <itab> [index <idx>].
INSERT statement adds a line/work area to the internal table. You can specify the position at which the new line is to be added by using the INDEX clause with the INSERT statement.
    Now coming to your request..
To append part or all of an internal table
         Syntax
APPEND LINES OF <itab1> [FROM <n1>] [TO <n2>] TO <itab2>.
    *     Note:
Without the FROM and TO options, this statement appends the entire table <itab1> to <itab2>.*
    b) To insert part or all of an internal table into another internal table
         Syntax
INSERT LINES OF <itab1> [FROM <n1>] [TO <n2>]
              INTO <itab2> [INDEX <idx>].
    c) Using Move statement.
To copy entire contents of one table into another in one execution
         Syntax MOVE  <itab1> To <itab2>.
                   OR
              <itab1> = <itab2>.
but u hav to be careful because he contents of itab2 will eb overwritten on the execution of this statement.
These copy the contents of ITAB1 to ITAB2. Incase of internal tables with header line we have to use [] inorder to distinguish from work area. So, to copy contents of internal tables with header line  the syntax becomes,
    ITAB1[] = ITAB2[].
Coming to the letter part of your question, Yes, we can copy values between tables having different structures.
    for this we use
                                MOVE-CORRESPONDING <itab1> TO <itab2>
this executes the statement for their header lines. Searches for the sub-fields which occur both in itab1 and itab2 and then generates, for all relevant field pairs which correspond to the
sub-fields ni , statements of the form MOVE itab1-ni TO itab2-ni. The other fields remain unchanged.
I hope the information provided has been of your help.
    Reward if useful.
    Regards,
    Jose
