It sounds as if the Artboard is 8 x 10. It should fit the Artwork (at 5 x 7).

  • How do I create a High Quality Image with a low file size???

    Dear All,
I am creating an invitation in Illustrator which I then place into photshop to create a JPEG. I want to create a high quality JPEG version of it but with a low file size because I am emailing the invitation. Am I correct in placing the image into photshop or should I export it from Illustrator.
The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
    Can anyone help me please
    Thanks
    Ben

The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
For this type of image you would probably be better choosing GIF format (now known for some reason as 'Compuserve GIF'). Taking the number of "colors' down untl it still looks high quality, and anti-aliasing is preserved.

I don't know about NTSC but there is a nice PAL solution for SD 16:9 for ordinary DVDs. The 16:9 image becomes 720x576 pixels. So the pixels are each quite wide, and the horizontal resolution is less than the vertical resolution, but at least no pixels are wasted as with letterbox.
A semi-solution is to make a HD-DVD. That format has been abandoned but Apple software pretends otherwise. Apple Compressor does compressions at around 20 Megabits/second data rate specifically for HD-DVD, and Apple DVD Studio Pro makes HD-DVDs. For short projects, less than around 30 minutes, the HD-DVD can be made on a normal DVD. (I did this for a 40 minute project by cutting the bitrate somewhat.) The quality is almost equal to Blu-Ray, but who can play it? People with well equipped Apples can.

  • How do I achieve a high quality PAL SD DVD from Final Cut Pro?

From a PMW-EX1 camera file edited in Final Cut Pro I am unable to produce a high quality PAL SD DVD using compressor and DVD Studio Pro (tried multiple combinations).
Using Final cut pro and Magic iDVD I can achieve a high quality SD DVD with no changes in export. But am limited to the iDVD restrictions.
From discussions it appears using compressor and DVD Studio pro it is not achievable, it is very frustrating that the Apple product you have to buy is not as efficient as the free one?
If not possible then how do I access the encoded file from IDVD?
My Final cut pro sequence settings:
    General - Aspect ratio: HDTV 1080i (16:9) 1920x1080, square and upper(Odd)
Quicktime video settings compressor: xdcam ex 1080i50 (35 mb/s vbr)

iDVD does everything automatically for you. With DVDSP and Compressor, all steps must be done correctly. The trade off is that you achieve better quality using Compressor over iDVD.
    1. First thing to do is export your sequence as an uncompressed interlaced 25i 720 x 576 16x9 Anamorphic QT.
    2. Determine your optimal bitrate by using a bitrate calculator. Here's a good one. Remember you need to account for all video on the disc, including motion menus.
    http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
    3. Bring your down converted QT into Compressor and use the manual settings set your bitrate. Also encode out a Dolby digital AC3 file. These files take up less bandwidth than uncompressed audio. Also remember to match your upper fiiled dominate filed order as well in Compressor. This must be consistent throughout the export and encoding stages.
    4. bring your encoded video and audio files into DVDSP and author

  • Adobe Premiere 7 video turns blurry / pixilated upon export.  How do I get a high quality export?

Hello.  I am editing a video in Adobe Elements 7.0.  The footage is standard definition.  I am ready to export the video, but when I do this the video comes out blurry or pixilated looking.  The footage looks clear when I am actually editing it, but when I export it something goes wrong.  I need one export in Flash (which will later be posted on the web) and one export as a Windows Media File or MPEG so it can be viewed internally on our office computers.  I have played with copious settings, formats, compressions, etc.  How do I export non-blurry, high quality, clear videos?
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.  I really appreciate it.

Hi Mr. Hunt!  Thank you so much for responding.  I really appreciate it.
What is my project preset?  That's a great question.  My settings are:
    General:
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames per second
    Video:
    Frame Size: 720 horizontal x 480 vertical
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9)
    Fields: lower field first
Display format: 30fps drop frame timecode
Title Safe Area: 20% horizontal and vertical
Action safe: 10% horizontal and vertical
    Capture:
Capture Format: HDV Capture  (Footage/tape is SD, camera is HD, does this impact anything?)
    Video Rendering:
Maximum bit depth - box is NOT checked
    Previews:
    File Format: DV NTSC
    Compressor: DV NTSC
    Color Depth: millions of colors
Optimize stills - box IS checked
Footage is shot on a Canon XHA1 Hi-def camera, but on standard definition tapes.  Footage is shot drop frame.
Does that answer your question?  If not, where would I go to find my presets?
I'll have to check out MS Windows Media Encoder.

  • How can I get a higher quality export from Imovie - QT & iDVD came out bad

The playback on my imovie came out corrupted but it transferred ok to Quick Time and I also burned a DVD but the quality is not very good. Any suggestions on how to get a better version. Please keep in mind that the imovie file is huge - 29Gig and the QT file compressed it down to 350Megs. The whole movie is running around 43 minutes. Any suggesstions are appreciated.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

sorry, dogma, but you compressed your project by a
factor of 1:100, and complain quality... ? did you
use a preset of iM, or did you select any "Expert
    Options"?
and hopefully, you didn't try to use that crunched
    file for usage in iDVD??
store/save you project in your Movies Folder, launch
iDVD, select from the media bin your project - done.
last questions: is your project set as "mpeg4" or
"dv/NTSC"; did you import from miniDV (what iM is
made for...) or did you use any.. other formats?
    happy holidays
Hi - Yep I did use the crunched version for the dvd and have tossed it. I am now transferring a new version from imovie to QT under the pre set of high quality. Since this is the first time I have done a movie I am not sure what settings I would use under expert options - suggestions? I would love to tranfer the imovie right to idvd but at the moment I only have 8G left on my Mac so this would likely be a problem. The movie was exported from a mini DV.

  • Preparing images for high quality DVD

I've been trying to create a photo slideshow from high quality images(Canon 20D) then burn them to DVD (both 4x3 and 16x9).
I can create the slideshow export to iDVD the burn with either iDVD or Toast.
My problem is the quality, it *****. Example if a street sign is in the image you can't read it. Its OK on the computer but impossible on a TV and its a HD TV.
Now I done it a few time with different setting always going for the best choices. I've also resized the images to 720(hor)x 534(vert) depending on the image orientation for 4x3 DVD.
If iPhoto/iDVD not the solution for the finest quality can you recommend what is?

  • HT4078 How do I burn a high quality dvd from iDVD?

I made a slideshow in iDVD using hi-res photos, but when I burned my dvd, it was really low quality. How do I fix this?

Additionally, if you want high quality slide shows, you might want to consider using a third party app called Photo to Movie. I find their options (including HD quality) and zooms (Ken Burns effect) far superior to the lack of quality of the Ken Burns effect in iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD. My workflow is that I create the slideshow in Photo to Movie, export it at the highest expert settings, then either import it into iMovie to incorporate it into a project or simply add it to iDVD as a movie along with the others.

  • How do I export very high quality QT to be used for a DVD?

I have a QT video (800x339, about 67mb) - it's a trailer for a movie that my daughter's in and I'd like to make put it on DVD using Adobe Premiere Elements. Unfortunately, Premiere won't accept this particular QT format (I don't understand why, but I just get an error saying that 'format not supported') - I can import other QT files, however.
Anyway, Adobe's support pages suggest converting the QT file to another format - but I've tried everything I can think of, and I just get lousy quality. I've exported from QT Player Pro to DV and AVI, using the highest 'quality' settings, etc. Some of the files are 1.3gb or more, but they all are poor quality. Is there some codec that I need to get? I can re-export the movie as a QT file and it retains the high quality that it was originally recorded in. Help!

First, on the black bars.  I do not want them at all.  I cannnot post a screenshot now as
file attachments are turned off temporarily, but they are about 5% on either side.  Totally unacceptable especially when in CS3 when exported to Encore there are NO black bars either visible in Encore or in the resulting DVD's
On the options and is the preset saved.  I can close Encore and open it afresh and find the preset that I saved listed in the dropdown of presets with the name I saved it as and all the settings the way I want them.
On the issue of Transcode settings when selecting the resource...  When I select the resource in the Project panel, or in the Timeline tab, the Transcode settings is greyed out.  I have consulted the help screens and forums for various ways to change the transcode settings and none of the suggested ways work.
It looks like my CS4 install does not work the way yours does.  I am about to completely unistall CS4 and CS3 and all other Adobe products and try a fresh reinstall to see if that works.  Most likely I will simply reinstall CS#, since that works, and abandon CS4 for now as I am getting way behind on my work, and know I can finish with CS3.  I have also heard form others that Sony Vegas is really solid and does not have all these weird bugs such as seen in CS4 and CS5, and is a much less bloated product and does the encodings faster.  Since it is also less expensive, this seems too good to be true, but work a trial.  So first rip every Adobe product off  my PC and format the HD and start fress with JUST CS3 and get my work done.  Then try Vegas to see if it is as good as my buddies say, if so bye bye Adobe!

  • Pixelated images (with High Quality Display turned on)

Here's my problem: The images look sharp on the internet, but when I download them, place them in Indesign and print them, the look pixelated!
Take this one for example: http://media.smashingmagazine.com/images/typefaces/productus.gif
It's resolution is 72 ppi. But when I place it onto the Indesign A4 page (or Letter format for that matter) it occupys almost entire width of the page.
Why is it so? Why is it so big by default without enlarging it? It's kinda logic that a small 72 ppi image stretched across the whole page will appear blurry when printed on 300 dpi printer.
So how can I set the indesign page to 300 ppi/dpi so images with lower restion will appear smaller when placed on the page and - will be printed sharp?

    mike.n03 wrote:
Where can you specify this preference?
And you mean there's a script for InDesign? Wow, it would be cool to get it. So far I solved that problem by recording an Action in Photoshop and than apply it to all the images using Batch command.
Preference is down at the bottom of the File Handling section ...  Check the bos to preserve dimensions and a the relinked file will be scaled back to the same size in ID. Uncheck, and the scale percentage will be preserved.
Almost anything is scriptable in ID (but I don't write them). I recall a script that was posted a year or two ago that would allow you to select an image and type a desired effective resolution into a dialog. The image would get scaled to reach that effective ppi. Your batch action in Photoshop is fine, and useful if you want to palce everything at 100%, but it isn't required to change the resolution in Photshop to achieve what you want. Scaling in ID is exactly the same thing as changing the resolution without resampling in Photoshop. No pixels are added, removed or altered -- only their dispalyed size is changed. If you want a script to set all images to 300 ppi effective resolution, you should probably pay a visit to the scripting forum.

  • How do I make iPad images high quality in Photoshop?

I'm a graphic designer and I tried setting the resolution higher with my 1024 x 768 image but it still looks crappy when viewd on my iPad 2. How do I make the image higher quality when I save it? I use Adobe Photoshop cs4.
    Thanks

Photos that are synced via iTunes get 'optimised' during the transfer, though I don't know what the optimisation actually does (and it's not possible, as far as I know, to bypass the optimisation when syncing photos). If you want your versions of the photos on the iPad then you could try the camera connection kit, emailing them to yourself (and then saving to Photos), or one of the wifi photos transfer apps - though the photos will only go into the camera roll/saved photos album (at least until iOS 5 which should allow us to move photos between albums)

  • I'm looking for a high quality image of the flower in the iPhone 5 the website.

There is a flower that is used in the apple website, for the iPhone 5. It is purple and yellow. I've been looking all over the web for it but cannot find an image of it that doesn't have a glare on it. I guess it is owned by apple, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a high quality image of it. Unfortunately it is not included with the iPhone 5.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I see on photo to movie spec page that you can export in full 1920 X 1080 H.264 codec, a high quality format usable in FCE.

  • How to export a short  film made with still images without loosing quality?

    Hi,
I have been trying everything to make a short film, which is made with still images, to look decent once exported however it is a real challenge. Here are the steps I have undertaken:
1- I prepare the photographs and give them the aspect ration of 720p and whatever height as I try not to crop them too much at 300dpi. They look great in photoshop or capture one. I then save them as.tiff. All the images are RGB.
2- I start a new project in premiere pro cs4 and make it DV Pal 25fps.
3-I import the images and place them on the timeline. If they are a bit too big I rescale them. The images seem to look ok on the timeline although I seem to have lost the deepness of the colours.
    4-I render the work area
5-I export it as quicktime, dv pal, quality 100.
My dilemna is that although exporting with quicktime, dv pal, quality 100 seems to give me the best quality compared to using quicktime animation, mpeg2, cinemak, avi..., the images are still not as sharp as in Photoshop and the colours look a lot paler and washed out. Also, when looking close to the screens you can see tiny squares on the images although from distance it's not too bad. When I view it from the exported file using Nero it's not too bad although definitely not perfect, as soon as I try to make a DVD and import it in Adobe Encore CS4 or send it by Dynamic Link, the quality looks horrible with images that look soft if not blurred and completely washed out.
I have now tried about t bu15 versions to see what 's the best I still have not reached the optimum quality and since these will be shown on big tvs or projected onto screens I need to nail it.
Would anybody have any advice please please please?
    Many Thanks

My overall advice is to do that kind of work in an application that is designed for that.  Give Photodex Proshow Producer trial a crack at it.  I do a lot of work with stills, and that IMO PSP is the best approach.  If you are intermixing the odd still, Pr may get you by.  If you plan on doing a lot of that, try proshow, where the workflow and extensive features are designed for making high quality videos from stills that can be output to a wide number of formats and destinations, including color management with many of them( including avi).  And, no need to resize.  I know this won't solve your present problem.
Obviously, your attempt in Pr has not worked out as you had hoped. Maybe a bit more info would help. How are you rescaling them in Pr? That might well account for some quality loss. What is the original format and size of the images? What color management are you using in PS? Are you using any color correction or effects in Pr? Is your project interlaced or progressive?
From your description,  you are not even getting the quality you should be getting from Pr IMO, though as Jim says, it is video and it will never look as pristine as it does in PS, but it still seems to me that something you are doing has degraded the work more than normally would be expected.
