How to remove a hard return

What is the command for removing a hard return? I want to know how to remove a hard return in a document or an email (I’ve tried both Word and my email). I'm new to Mac but on my PC I usually just put the cursor to the right of the last letter on the line and hit delete and the line below gets moved up but in the MAC when I do that all it does is delete the letters in the word to the left of the cursor.
Thanks.

After playing with this idea it looks like the solution is to put the cursor in front of the first word on the line you want to move to the line above it and then hit delete. Just hitting enter/return adds another hard return.
Thanks!

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove a hard disk from the 15" 1.67ghz Powerbook? I can't find instructions anywhere. If anyone can point me to a service manual or something similar I would be most greatful.
I know this voids warranty, it doesn't matter, as it's not relevant in this case.

  • Is there a way to remove extra hard returns without wrecking text?

    Hey gang,
I have 300 pages of flowing text that arrived via Import XML. Here and there are groups of 2 or 3 empty hard returns littering the flow. I want to Find/Change to get rid of them.
If I GREP search for \r (even adding negative lookaheads and negative lookarounds for the purpose of isolating empty returns) and replace them with nothing, this gives rise to a problem of the NEXT paragraph gets its paragraph style changed.
How can I avoid changing the paragraph style of the text that follows the empty returns?

  • How to remove a hard disk file on storage

    Hello,
In my process, I would like to remove an additional disk.
To achieve that task, I have found "Remove VM device". It is a VMware box that I can use to remove any device (including Hard disks) and I have not found another box to do that.
But file on storage is not deleted, only the logical disk on the VM is removed.
So I was wondering if there could be another way to remove also the file on the storage?
Is a “dedicated” remove Hard disk vmware box exists in Tidal versions greater to 2.3.1?
    thank you.
    Best regards,
    Nicolas

There is no specific "Remove Hard Disk" activity in 2.3.1 or the upcoming 2.3.4.
Have you tried the PowerCLI command "Remove-HardDisk"? If that works for you, in 2.3.1 you can use a Windows PowerShell activity to run PowerCLI and execute a simple script that runs this command against the VM. Unfortunately, this requires connecting to vCenter directly (not through the adapter) and you will need to supply credentials.
Or, better, use the "Execute PowerCLI Script" activity in the upcoming 2.3.4 VMware Adapter.. where you can run PowerCLI activities that use your existing VMware vCenter Server target's connection and don't need supply credentials separately.

    This is line1 chr(10)

    chr(10)

    If so:
    RTRIM (str
          , CHR (10)
I've tried replace but that didn't work also reading you can't use regexpr_replace with a negative value. It's unclear what you mean.
In regular expressions, a pattern can be anchored to the end of the string, like this
    REGEXP_REPLACE ( str
                , CHR (10) || '$'
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), and the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.

  • Satellite A30 - how to remove Hard Drive

    Hi, New Here...
Can anyone tell me how to remove the hard drive in my Tosh A30...
    Thanks
    captainp

    Hi Tim,
The hard drive on your SA30 is underneath the optical drive so you need to slide the optical drive out of its slot (undo the screw marked F5 on the bottom of the notebook).
The hard drive will then be visible fastened in with four cross-headed screws which must be removed (two on each side of the hard drive. With the screws removed, carefully slide the hard drive towards the front of the notebook to disconnect it from its connector and carefully lift it out of its bay.

  • How to wipe the hard drive on a screen-dead Powerbook G3?

The display on my 1998 G3 Wallstreet Powerbook recently went black and the computer made a noise that I understand is called The Chimes of Death, although the hard drive still makes whirring noises. My local and trustworthy Apple repair service assures me the Powerbook wouldn't be worth repairing even if they could get the parts for such an old machine.
Is there a way to wipe the hard drive and make my data irretrievable before disposing of the computer?
If there's no way to wipe the hard drive, I'd like to find out: (1) How to remove the hard drive. (2) The best way to destroy the hard drive or at least make it forever unreadable (can my shredder eat it?). (3) The correct way to dispose of a Powerbook that has heard the Chimes of Death. (From what the repair service says, I assume nobody would want it as a donation.)

    Turtlewiz,
I would not be so quick to pronounce it dead:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14438
I would try the suggestions in the above article. Will it boot to a CD?
As far as wiping the drive, it is easy as long as you can see a display so you can follow the steps necessary. You just open Drive Setup in the Utilities Folder on the CD > select 'zero all data' in the Initialization Options; do it a few times if concerned.
Removing the HD is relatively easy: Just lift off the keyboard and the heat sink, then remove the HD.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/3.0.0.html
Hit the HD a few times with a hammer and nobody will bother with it...it has a glass platter.
Nothing to offer on the recycling except Good Will may still take it as "non-working" since there are Mac users looking for such bargains.

    Hi
Unfortunately this Toshiba unit it unknown to me and I dont have found any officials documents about the HDD replacing.
But as far as I know there should be only 2 possibilities how to remove the HDD.
1.) The HDD slot is placed at the bottom of the unit and you need to remove only the HDD cover.
    Or
2.) The HDD is placed in the notebook. In this case you have to remover the keyboard and some covers to replace the HDD
Well, I can give you only this info. I think if you want to know the detailed instruction you should contact the Toshiba service partner because he has a more detailed informations about such cases.

  • How do I remove the hard drive to reinstall a new one on my 2004 ibook G4?

My mom dropped it and now I can't reinstall anything on it. Can't find any directions in my user guide. And yes, she is paying for me to fix it.

If from the Installer disc, inserted in the computer, and used to start the machine,
    (holding C key down) until you get the Installer, you do not choose to Install it at all;
but instead carefully click ahead only until there is a main menu bar in the top of
the screen, it would say Installer (instead of Finder) and in that bar across the top,
you have optional menus that can drop-down when you click on them.
From the Installer's optional drop-down menu bar, you can find Utilities; one of them
is Disk Utility, another is Startup Disk, and there are other items. If you use Disk
Utility, it can attempt to Repair disk, and also be used to Verify disk; choose Repair
and let it try to repair, since this will generate an Error report, if damaged or not fixable
with the tool you have. The Verify will check the SMART status of the hard disk drive.
It will likely show a 'failed' report. Disk Utility has two screens, one if you click on the
name of the hard disk drive, in the lefthand margin in D.U., and another if you click on
the brand name (not a given name, such as Macintosh HD, but Fujitsu, or Seagate, etc.)
When done with this confirmation exercise, you may be able to choose to Quit Disk Utility
from its own menu item, and return to Installer. Then choose Startup Disk from the same
menu drop-down you chose D.U. from, and see if the hard disk drive in the computer is
there to be chosen as a startup disk. It may show but not work. You may be able to get
the installer disc #1 out of the computer by holding down the F12; or if you have a USB
mouse, have that plugged in ahead of time, and hold the mouse down on restart to see
if this will eject the installer disc from the computer's optical drive.
If not, you will have to try one of the suggested methods of removing that disc; one of
them in another thread in Discussions pointed to a macbook topic link where a disc
was removed from a slot-drive and the process would be similar. Or, knowing where
the disc is, hope it can work from there later on, after replacing the hard disk drive or
using an external FireWire drive to install a test system to, and then eject that disc.
You may have lucked out & the hard disk drive may be the only casualty in this accident.
In your other thread on this topic, posted to the back of a 'solved' topic, I replied and
noted a different forum where two or three great links on how to remove and replace
    an iBook G4's hard disk drive are posted. {I know, because I posted them there...}

  • How can I remove the hard drive from an iMac g4 before recycling it?

How can I remove the hard drive from an iMac g4 before recycling it?

There are take-apart guides online.  For example
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/imac_g4/imacg4_takeapart.html
However, you can also consider securely erasing the hard drive instead.  You can do this using a Mac OS X installation disc with a version that your iMac G4 can boot from the optical drive.  If this is a viable option, please post back (include Mac OS X version on installation disc).
