How to Remove an Audio Device

I installed 'Boom' on my 11" MBA to increase the volume on low level sources. It worked, but used an unacceptably large amount of CPU. I uninstalled it in the usual way, however I am left with an audio device called 'Boomdevice' (visible in the Audio MIDI setup utility). This doesn't seem to be affecting anything, but I would like to get rid of it. Does anyone know how?
Thank you.

Boom has completely killed the audio from my 15" MBP - running 10.6.8.  Nothing I try, including uninstalling it and reboot, has restored it.  Currently trying to find system drivers to reinstall...
I know it hasn't utterly killed my speakers because the machine makes a noise when it reboots, but I can't listen to ITunes or Spotify, watch videos, etc.
My recommend?  Avoid this app at all costs!

  • Some help please: how to remove incompatible audio units?

    Hello forum readers,
If someone knows, a little help would be appreciated:
When staring Logic Pro X, each time Audio Units are automatically being scanned. All the time I get a window with the message "Incompatible Audio Units found":
"While verifying Audio Unit compatibility, Logic Pro X encountered 1 Audio Unit plug-in(s) which did not pass the Apple AU validation. These plug-ins have been excluded from further usage in Logic Pro X to prevent possible problems or crashes. You can start the AU Manager now to review the validation results or continue the startup process."
When opening the Audio Units manager, I see that "AUSpeechSynthesis (Automap)applttsp"  (Manufacturer: Apple, type: generator) couldn't be opened. I don't know how to remove or bypass this plug-in, as the option "disable failed audio units" doesn't seem to work. Now each time I start Logic Pro X, the same message keeps appearing. I also can't find that file on my Mac, a searched for it and also the Finder can't find it.
Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Thijs

I have the same problem but I can´t figure out how to unwrap AUSpeechSynthesis. I can´t even find it in the filesystem with spotlight.....   ;o(
And yes I have turned on the 64bit plugin friendly option in Automap's Preferences.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to set default audio device for java apps on Linux?

I would like to find a way to choose a particular (ALSA) audio device for java applications. How can this be done without reprogramming the application or changing the default ALSA device? I came across "sound.properties", but could not find any information how to use this file on an ALSA system.
    Thanks for any help, Mark

We can't satisfy everyone. What you want is a corner case. For most people ALSA and dmix works appropriately, and that is what esd uses by default. We cannot document and automate every configuration possible. That's up to the users.
However, if you don't want to restart gnome, try the below... I make a few assumptions, but even if they're wrong, they're hardly difficult to work around.
Just copy the /etc/esd.conf to ~/.esd.conf, make your change, then do killall esd. Presumably gnome will restart esd, and it ought to read your local config. If it doesnt, start it yourself.
Feel free to write a script that automates this, or document it on the wiki.
I have to restart Gnome to get this thing working. Other OSes *automatically* can use an alternative device. But if I change ESD, I will have to restart Gnome, no?
Well, if you try my suggestion above, no. You can restart esd yourself. And that's what all the other distros do, except with some fancy GUI.

  • How to change default audio device for gnome?

My laptop has an integrated sound card, but I lately got a USB headset (headphones+mic, which works with linux btw, I tested it with GizmoProject which lets me choose which /dev/dspXX I want): http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=U200&cpc=SCH
So, how do I change the default audio device for *all* desktop sounds to the headphones? I tried the two gnome sound properties, and when I select the headset device they let me configure it but ALSA still uses the internal audio card. Why isn't there a way to easily select which device you want for your sounds as there is for BeOS, Windows and OSX?

  • How to turn off audio device powersave?

In both Windows 7 with bootcamp, and OS X (10.5.8), the audio device power saves, causing it to turn on when in use, and turn off after 30 seconds of silence from the computer. This has been an undocumented "feature" (more of a bug) since OS 10.4.10. The issue with power saving the audio device is an audible "pop" or audio artifact when the device turns on and off. It is only audible through headphones or external speakers.
Is there a fix for this? Note, it has happened since day 1 with this MBP, when it came with 10.5.7.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it a hardware issue or is it just software powersave releated?

Well, then I can't find anything but this
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AudioUpdate_2007001
Unfortunately, its for Tiger. I called Apple help and support, it was neither help nor support, so I'm on my way to return this MBP. I'm glad I found what a useless device the Macbook Pro is for audio before it was too late to return it. Thanks Apple! I hope in the future Apple can actually work out some bugs, instead of just sucking in the money.

  • X131e how to remove the audio equalizing feature on lenovo's preloaded windows 8

    Hi everyone!
I recently purchased a lenovo thinkpad x131e and after using it for a few weeks, i've realised that the audio is being equalized across all programs to maintain a level volume.
Usually I would be able to access the enhancement tab on the properties page for my audio device and disable this feature, however the enhancement page has been stripped of most of its options, and only has "Disable all sound effects" instead.
Is there a way I can restore the available options so that I can disable this feature?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I see 'Dolby Advanced Audio' in the Control Panel and it has the option to enable/disable the Volume Leveler.

  • How to remove old audio/video

I have recently moved most of my photos and videos to an eternal hard drive but I am not sure how to remove everything from my HD.  I deleted everything out of Iphoto and deleted the trash but if I do a search for video it still shows videos in Iphoto.  Also I am not sure how to remove all of the old video from Imovie without doing any damage.

I deleted all of my pictures/videos from Iphoto, emptied the Iphoto trash, and got 30 gigs of storage back.  Now it was showing an empty library but if I searched for all movies there were a ton left in Thumbnails, originals, etc.  Hidden folders in the Iphoto Library.  So even though I couldn't see any photos left in Iphoto I decided to delete the enitre Library and start over.  I dragged the library to the trash and I got another 30 gigs of storage back!  All for hidden backups of files that I thought I had deleted.

  • How to remove unwanted audio using audio effects?

The audio effects in question: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7d80a .html
I've been meaning to learn how to do this for a while so I thought I'd get started.
I want to learn how to clean up my audio. I don't have very professional audio gear, I'm using a Rode videomic pro on a canon 60D so the quality isn't the best but it's ok for now. There is a lot I want to learn but right now there are 2 things on my mind:
    1. I have a deadcat wind muff on my rode but still when the wind hits it I get this unwanted wind sound on my soundtrack. I know there has to be a way to remove or reduce this somehow using the audio effects.
    2. Slight white noise over my audio. I know this is a result of recording directly from my camera but there has to be a way to reduce the white noise in order to get clearer audio. I've seen people recording right out of their camera and they have way better results than me.

I know there has to be a way to remove [wind noise]
    There is.  It's called ADR.
there has to be a way to reduce the white noise
    There is.  Better equipment.
Sorry but, I think you may be expecting to much of your post production tools.

  • How to remove digicam audio hiss?

I've decided to put in some of the 640X480 30fp movies I took on my canon IXUS700 into iMovie
Resolution is fine but audio hiss at the high end is really bad
What settings can I use to remove it?
Tried using audio noise remover but doesn't seem to apply to all clips? not sure how to use it...
    Any tips welcome
    Thanks
    Jason

    Hi Jason
In iMovie HD 6 there is some rudimentary sound tools. You might try the
equalizer and take down the high frequencies.
    alt. 1 (but costly)
    a. Extract sound
    b. export this sound clip as .aiff
    c. buy SoundSoap™ and run it
    d. import back and match this new sound + silece out the old soundfile.
alt. 2 (may be even more costly)
    a. get FinalCutExpress HD 3.5. The soundtools here are near to professional.

  • How to remove $400 Adjusted Device Charge?

I was shocked to see my bill with a $400 dollar device charge.  No one is willing to work with me to remove the charge since there is no "proof" that I accepted the 2-year terms and conditions.
I have five lines on my family plan.  On April 14, 2014, give or take a few days, I was eligible for an upgrade.  A family member also needed a new phone, and one of our other lines was also eligible for an upgrade.  I transferred the upgrade from 331-xxxx to 226-xxxx and purchased a new phone online.  I marked that I would pick up my phone and 226-xxxx's phone at the store.  I entered to store and completed the transaction.  I signed the agreements and all the phones were activated and working.  Now, on 06/22/2014, VZW charges me $400 as an adjusted device charge to 331-xxxx.  What do I have to do to get this charge removed?!

Thanks.  One of the first things I did was talk to Live Chat, they referred me to the customer service line.  Both, while very pleasant, were unable to help me.

  • How to remove/minimze audio "pop" or "click"

    Using FCP 4.5
I have an audio pop/click within a clip and have been unable to figure a way to remove it or at least minimize it. I can see it in the viewer when the wave form is displayed Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Ron

    Randy,
Thank you for the suggested approaches...since it is a split second pop...and dialogue is not an issue, I think I will go with cutting and pasting. I have Soundsoap...but haven't used it much...but I may experiment once I finish this project.
I was hoping there was some kind of (simple) audio filter in FCP that would limit the pop...but apparently there isn't, at least not one that I could find.
Anyway, thanks again for your help...I'm off to cut, copy and paste.

  • How to remove a stolen device from my iCloud

My iPad 2 was recently stolen on a trip and now I'm seeing the pictures of another family all over my photo stream, but I'm not entirely sure how to stop seeing their pictures because that device is never online when I am. Could someone possibly help me with this issue?

Go to iCloud.com on a computer and sign in with the iCloud ID that the device is linked to. Click on the device in the Find My iPhone app, and select "Erase iPad".
This will erase your device, and will put it in an Activation Locked mode so whomever is using your device will no longer be able to use it. It will also erase all of your personal data. You won't be able to track it after you have issued the remote erase, but your Activation Lock will remain in place.
    Cheers,
