How to remove background on image

Hi I would like to make the background on the attached image white and to manipulate the silver jewellery on the image attached so that it shows up clearly against the white.
I've tried all sorts of things but found that either the image blends into the background when white or the silver does not look metallic any more.  I have around 100 images that I need to edit in this way for my website so any advise would really be appreciated.
Here is a link to some sample pictures
http://littlewonders.no/index.php?page=details&prod=37&cat=43&group=
As you can see the back ground is different on each image and does not look professional.
Thanks in advance

Silver on white is very much contrast dependent and the base of that starts with the original photo. I think what you are looking for is a look like this.
This is just camera. For instance if you where taking photos of each piece, I would have the camera on a tripod and locked in position with the while layer drop to place each piece on. Each photo would be the same angle same lightness.
This issue you have trying to remove the white background is that silver is mostly white, so removing the background is very tricky from the start, also removing the background you remove the shadows that give it a more realistic appearance.
restaging and reshooting all the images would be much faster then trying to remove the backgrounds on a 100 images of silver pieces and make them look right.
You may concider a black satan background behind the silver pieces too black tends to show off the silver much more brightly then white would.

  • How to remove background from image?

    Hello folks.
    I am trying to incorporate some business logos into a brochure I am creating. The problem is, most of these logos have a white background. How can I remove this and make a transparent background?
    Thanks!

    Blend modes are your friend. always keep in mind that Multiply, screen and overlay affect the white, black and gray depending which one you choose.
    Attached is a blend mode example from photoshop using a black to white gradient.  The normal layer fills the document with.the blend layers on top with the gradient inverted.
    This example is text naming the solid color backgrounds blended over a gradient.

  • Having difficulty using quick selection tools to remove background form images. Any help appreciated

    Hello All,
    I am trying to remove background from images using the 3 different selection tools.  I start off fine, but ultimately the entire images keeps getting grabbed which ever tool I am using.  It is easier if you are using a pro version of photoshop and not any of the elements versions?  I have elements 11.
    Thanks

    So much depends on the image itself to determine which tool is most appropriate. Another tool to try is the selection brush, where you literally paint in what you want to select.

  • How to remove background image per action

    Hi!
    I just created a wonderful action, but there's still one step I can't get working.
    I am optimzing scanned PDFs.
    First step: Preflight: Convert to greyscale.
    Second step: Optimize PDF: All filters set to high. This separates the background of the scan from the scanned text. Both marked as image, not as background image.
    Third step: Remove the backmost image. Can't get that working.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much!

    There may be a preflight script to remove the image, but it might get rid of all images. You can also use the Object Touchup Tool (or the new name that I forget) to select the background image and delete it. You would have to do it on each page.

  • How to remove background hiss?

    What options do I have for removing background noise/hiss in iMovie '09? I used the standard microphone of an HD camcorder and as you might guess there is a lot of ambient noise that I would like to try to remove.

    Well, I answered my own question.
    You cannot do this within iMovie. Instead you have to export the audio and then run it through another application which is what I did using Audacity. I exported the audio to a .wav file and imported into Audacity. With Audacity, you can sample a bit of audio where no one is speaking using the "Remove Noise..." filter and then apply that filter to a selected section of audio. There's lots of other things you can do with Audacity but all I needed was removing background his and amplifying a few other sections of audio where kids were speaking to softly. It worked great! Once finished with Audacity, I exported from Audacity back to a .wav file format. Then I imported that hiss-free audio track into iTunes which then made it available in iMovie. Before dragging the full hiss-free audio clip into my movie project I first muted the existing full-of-hiss audio track. Because the audio tracks were the same length, it all lined up perfectly.

  • How to remove background image in Theme Editor

    Hi there,
    In Theme Editor > [theme] > Portal Body  there is the option for background colour as well as background image. I had a background image declared before and would like to remove it again. If i write "none" the theme won't save (script error). I can't find the reference to the image in the theme.zip either. Thanks four your help.

    Thanks, Benjamin, I'm aware of that. But this solution is rather bad on performance. We run an FPN with our Intranet, xAPPS and BI. Now imagine all the background colors and background images loading one after the other before you can see the application. This happens regardles of whether they are empty or transparent. In IE it flickers and flackers about ten times and takes 10 seconds before you can carry on with your work. That's suboptimal.

  • How to remove background from raster image?

    Hello folks.
    I am trying to incorporate some business logos into a brochure I am creating. The problem is, most of these logos have a white background. How can I remove this and make a transparent background?
    Thanks!

    To remove and replace you have to use one of the selection tools first.  I like the Quick Selection Tool.  Depending on the contrast between the logo and background, and the degree of perfection you require this may need to be tweeked a little.  Tweeking can be done like this.  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-russell-brown-show/masking-basics-in-photoshop-cs5/
    The pen tool is a lot more accurate, but does have a learning curve.

  • How to remove background of a animated GIF file?

    i have revoling rings animated gif file, i want remove its blackgroung and want add plain white backgroung. how to do that? i use PS cs 5

    Remove the background from each frame's layer so their background is transparent. Then add a new bottom layer which is the replacment background and set it to be visible in all frames of the animation. Then save for web. Why can't you show the animation is its content agenst the rules here. Use the background removal method the works best for each frame.

  • How to remove background object in new pages?

    How do I remove a background object on document issued from previous pages version?
    Before I could tick 'background object are selectable' or something like this... Now I cannot find anything comparable!

    Section Masters have static uneditable items on every page, really just watermarks.
    I take this back. It won't work in Layout mode documents but in Word Processor documents:
    1. Add a vertical rule with the Shapes tool.
    2. Add either 3 text boxes or a 3 row table
    3. Select all the above: Menu > Arrange > Section Master > Move Objects to Section Master/Make Master Objects Selectable
    4. Insert a Section Break on each page. It has to be a Section break otherwise editing the Master Objects will repeat on previous pages.
    This has been always the absolute worst part of Pages 5 and I really can't figure out how anyone at Apple thought this was good design.
    This was all resolved 30 years ago in PageMaker, Ready-Set-Go, and several other DTP Apps. Not to mention it worked very effectively in Pages '09.
    I admit the Captured Pages implementation in Pages '09 is less than obvious, but its function once set up is way faster than anything else I know.

  • Remove background in images

    I'm going to take some photos of several objects and it will be around 200-300 different objects/parts.
    If I want to remove it, is the easiest way to use a green color or something? Some of the products are white.
    How do I easy remove the background, I have justed the path and Pen Tool, but I will taket too long time on 200 pictures.

    OK, cancel this error - RH8 was bevhaving fine - the graphic came back from gfx with a thin border around it, and that caused the vertical bar when it repeated. Should have spotted this earlier, my bad.

  • How to remove background colours in photoshop?

    Hello everyone....I'm only just learning how to use the content-aware tool in photoshop cs5. This image had a picture of a girl in it, but I think I've been able to erase her using the content-aware tool, though you can still see a slight shadow. There is also a small area of red between the subject's chin and the top of his left arm. Can you please teach me how to erase the shadow as well as the small red area? I tried using the content-aware tool for that, but for some reason it didn't work. Thanks so much

    Hello there..Thanks for your help. I've tried doing it both ways and I've actually managed to do it - shock! - but I think it was a
    fluke because I can't do it again. The obstacle is how to change the background colour. I don't know quite how to do that. Could you please give me a step by step guide on what to do once i've selected the area with the lasoo tool? i know that i have to click on one of those two boxes at the bottom of the tools palette - set background or foreground colour - but i'm lost once the colour palette appears on the screen. thanks again!

  • How to remove underlying JButton image?

    Hi
    I have this code to place an image over the standard JButton. But if the image is smaller or transparent, the underlying standard image is still seen. Is it possible to remove this image and just have the background of the panel showing?
    public class ImageButton extends JButton {
         public ImageButton(ImageIcon icon, String text) {
              setSize(icon.getImage().getWidth(null),
                   icon.getImage().getHeight(null));
              setIcon(icon);
              setMargin(new Insets(0,0,0,0));
              setIconTextGap(0);
              setBorderPainted(false);
              setBorder(null);
              setText(text);
                    setHorizontalTextPosition(this.CENTER);
    /code]
    Thanks for any help.

    OK, you have to choose your own background and button image. But the button image should be transparent, as I want the background image to show through, but it's not.
    Here's the ImageButton, setting the button image.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class ImageButton extends JButton {
         public ImageButton(ImageIcon icon, String text) {
              setSize(icon.getImage().getWidth(null),
                   icon.getImage().getHeight(null));
              setIcon(icon);
              setMargin(new Insets(0,0,0,0));
              setIconTextGap(0);
              setBorderPainted(false);
              setBorder(null);
              setText(text);
              setHorizontalTextPosition(this.CENTER);
    }Here's the ImagePanel setting the background:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class ImagePanel extends JPanel {
        private Image img;
        public ImagePanel(String img) {
            this(new ImageIcon(img).getImage());
        public ImagePanel(Image img) {
            this.img = img;
            Dimension size = new Dimension(img.getWidth(null),img.getHeight(null));
            setPreferredSize(size);
            setMinimumSize(size);
            setMaximumSize(size);
            setSize(size);
            setLayout(null);
        public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
            g.drawImage(img,0,0,null);
    }And here is the calling code. I want the background image to be visible through my transparent button image. But it looks like a normal JButton is showing instead.
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class ImageTest {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            ImagePanel panel = new ImagePanel(new ImageIcon("images/background.png").getImage());
            final ImageButton button = new ImageButton("images/buttonup-blank75.png");
         button.setLocation(30,30);
            panel.add(button);
            JFrame frame = new JFrame();
            frame.getContentPane().add(panel);
            frame.pack();
            frame.setVisible(true);
    }
