How to remove camera hiss

My camera (Canon T5I DSLR) has audio hiss in it. I heard that this is the automatic gain control in my camera. However I can't disable it. It therefor leaves an annoying hiss in the audio. Is there a way that I could remove this in final cut pro x or garage band?

FCP X has a built in noise removal tool... If you want to pre process the whole clip
select the clip in the source browser, , right click and select 'Open In Timeline', select the clip in the timeline, in the inspector choose the Audio Tab, click on the Audio Enhancements bar to open the enhancements panel. In there activate the Noise Reduction option.
OK .. It might not work very well, so there is a paid option
'SoundSoap' by A company called Soundness costs a bit ( $ 100 or so ), but will run as a plug in effect in FCPX and does a great job. Just play it a bit of footage with just noise, and boom it's clean.  Best option out there.
IN the future check out Magic  Lantern ... It's a firmware replacment for Canon dSLRs which among other things activates manual audio control. Just check it's compatible with the T5i.
or
add a beachtek  audio adapter to your camera, which includes a 'hack' to disable auto level control on the camera. It feeds a constant level,20khz tone to the audio which holds the cameras audio gain steady, but the tone is so high pitched you won't hear it. If you can, it's easy to remove with a little audio filtering during editing. It won't affect sound like voice, etc.

  • How To Remove Tape Hiss

    Greetings,
Very happy MacBook Pro user! Can I use GarageBand to remove tape hiss from an old recording? I have successfully transferred the recording from a good tape deck to GarageBand via a good firewire audio interface.
I've seen suggestion to use various audio editor programs for this purpose. I'm wondering, is GarageBand up to the job?
    Thanks in advance.

you could mess with the various EQs (especially the parametric), however, Audacity has dedicated noise removal tools and would likely be better suited for the job

  • How to remove background hiss?

What options do I have for removing background noise/hiss in iMovie '09? I used the standard microphone of an HD camcorder and as you might guess there is a lot of ambient noise that I would like to try to remove.

Well, I answered my own question.
You cannot do this within iMovie. Instead you have to export the audio and then run it through another application which is what I did using Audacity. I exported the audio to a .wav file and imported into Audacity. With Audacity, you can sample a bit of audio where no one is speaking using the "Remove Noise..." filter and then apply that filter to a selected section of audio. There's lots of other things you can do with Audacity but all I needed was removing background his and amplifying a few other sections of audio where kids were speaking to softly. It worked great! Once finished with Audacity, I exported from Audacity back to a .wav file format. Then I imported that hiss-free audio track into iTunes which then made it available in iMovie. Before dragging the full hiss-free audio clip into my movie project I first muted the existing full-of-hiss audio track. Because the audio tracks were the same length, it all lined up perfectly.

  • How to remove Camera shutter sound?

    Hi all
I really need to get rid of that irritating camera Shutter noise the phone makes when it takes a picture.
I tried to use javax.microedition.amms.control.camera.CameraControl :enableShutterFeedback
however Nokia still doesn't support this functionality.
I am even willing to turn off the phones master volume but I don't think this is possible from J2ME.
Even manually there is no option in the phones settings to do this!
(I here that this functionality is being supressed due to privacy concerns)
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

you can use a program on your pc like xs++ which gives you access to the phones firmware, you can find the sounds file for the shutter and delete it

  • Using Mac, how do I remove the hiss (noise floor)?

Using Mac, how do I remove the hiss (noise floor)?

Hi!  Well, at the most simple, Audition has a noise reduction effect...try Effects/Noise Reduction/Restoration/Noise Reduction (Process).  Highlight a short section of your clip featuring just noise, not any sounds you want to keep.  Turn the amount of NR down on the sliders to, say, 20% and the Reduction to, say, 10dB, hit "Select Entire File" and Okay it.  If the noise is bad, you're best off to do several passes at low processing settings.  Turn up the FFT size (on the Advanced menu) and grab a new noise sample between each process.  FYI, the reason for doing it 3 or 4 times with small increments is that it results in a lot fewer unpleasant artefacts.
However, as others have said, use of Noise Reduction should be a last ditch option, not a normal part of the process.  I have 3 different M Audio interfaces now and none give me enough noise to worry about.  As a first guess from your description I wonder if it's your microphone that's noisy and, if so, no amount of playing is likely to fix it...the noise goes up and down along with the programme material as you adjust the levels.
So...a bit more info and maybe we can make some suggestions for you.

No way to remove it on your own. You have to bring it to the Nokia Care Point. They'll be the one to clean the dust for you. If your phone is still in warranty, it will be free of charges.

  • How to remove a camera mount object from a fixed location persistent through the entire video

    Hi there,
by design a part of my camera mount appears at a fixed location through the entire length of my video. While the scene in the background is usually rotating from left to right or right to left the camera mount is always at the same location of the visual field. How can I remove it using Adobe After Effects CC (2014)? I have seen others doing that but the process appears to be very labour intensive. See for instance:
    Watermark Removal - YouTube
After Effects Tutorial - Object Removal - YouTube
Is there a built-in feature in After Effects, which can allow for a single-click removal after say the shape of the camera mount is outlined in a given frame? Can the "void" generated after the removal be automatically filled in with the background image?
I have searched the FAQ but could not find an answer, so I please point me to the right location if this question has been already asked and answered.
    Thank you!
    Val

The water is going to be very problematic. Mocha Pro is a viable option but there are others using basically the same technique of time shifting the background image. You can do this entirely by hand if you stabilize the shot draw a mask around the offending object, adjust the timing of a copy of the stabilized shot so the background fills the hole, and then removing the stabilization. You can also just use Mocha AE for this kind of time shifting background replacement.
The camera mount coming out of the backpack on the boat will present a lot of problems because the camera is attached to the mount. Tracking the mount won't work, but tracking and stabilizing the boat may. The distortion caused by the extreme wide angle lens is also gong to cause problems when cloning the background because the distortion is not linear and as the scene changes areas of the scene that could be used to fill the hole from the removed camera mount would not necessarily fit. As long as the camera is moving in relation to the boat you may be able to remove most of the mount, but it's going to require some hand painting where the pole is close to the body and attached to the backpack because the background is always hidden by the mount.
The shot on the roof is much easier to handle. As the camera swings around the scene the background will change so a simple mask and time shift should take care of most of the replacement. I would just use Tracking and time shift to fill the hole and scale as necessary.
As another option you can use a program called SunthEyes to create a clean plate from shots like these. If you have the budget that may be a good option. No matter what the option is, the water is going to cause you more problems than anything else because water ripples are random.

Trying to clean up space to download updated iOS. Thanks!
Have tried unsuccessfully the left swipe and pressing the red delete. No change.

The only problem is I have only 1.6GB available and need 3.7 to update to the iOS7.  I also have 2.6GB in the "Other" catagory.  How do I access the "Others" area in iTunes in order to see what is there and what I might be able to delete in order to create the amount of space needed.  Thanks for your help!

I was on a long call. I locked the phone and slipped it in my pocket. Apparently the lock screen camera had activated though it had not taken any shots . The result was post my 40 odd minute call when I pulled the phone out to disconnect I discovered the camera was active and phone was hot and battery had reduced for 92% to around 50%. This seems a serious flaw in design...

Here's an overview of motion tracking and stabilization.
    Step-by-step instructions are here.
The basic idea is that you track a point that shouldn't be moving, and then you apply the motion tracking data to the tracked layer to compensate for the motion. It's pretty easy, actually.
