How to remove conduit search engine ?

I have difficulties removing the conduit toolbar from my browsers

You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow these instructions.
If the instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder…
Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
Repeat with this line:
/Applications/Toolbars
Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
/Library
Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.
Application Support/Conduit
InputManagers/CTLoader
LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.
I've seen a report that Conduit may be bundled with a scam "utility" called "MacKeeper." If you installed MacKeeper, you should remove it according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and causes many problems reported on this site.

The source for the screen is shown as below

Blocking the mamma website has no effect

First, update Firefox. [[Update Firefox to the latest version]].
After doing that, Reset Firefox. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]. This should resolve any issues you have been having while retaining your personal information.

• How to remove trovi search engine?

It is not appearing on add ons... And I cannot remove it from my homepage settings... Pls rply fast...

I also recommend going to the Windows Control Panel. Depending on your version of Windows, it's either:
* Uninstall a Program
* Add/Remove Programs
Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the entries by date. This is helpful in uncovering bundled items that may have snuck onto your system with some free software. I suggest cleaning out everything you do not recognize as useful that was added in recent days before this problem started.

• Unistall Conduit search engine

I keep getting a pop up for Flash player to update. What it does is install a 'Conduit search engine" on Chrome browser. 2 questions:
Why is Adobe sending out this download?
How can I uninstall it?
Alan Zell [email address removed]

It's a pop up window that has a "F" logo in the top L corner. Now, I'm
sure, it's a fake or scam riding in on that sometimes Adobe sends out update
notices.
Not only does it install the Conduit search engine, it also adds several
other programs. To uninstall these other programs is easy. Conduit is not.
Through a Google search I did find a way to delete the Conduit search engine
which I'm passing on
http://internethelper31.ourtoolbar.com/help/?ct=CT3289663&from=contact
Toolbars can be easily uninstalled like any other browser add-on or
extension. The uninstall process differs slightly depending on which browser you
are using.
Internet Explorer
Click the Start menu.
Select Control Panel.
Click Uninstall a program under Programs. (Or click Programs and Features.)
Right-click the relevant toolbar and select Uninstall.
Firefox
Click the Firefox button (or Tools menu) at the top of the browser window.
Select Add-ons.
Select Extensions.
Click the Disable or Remove button for the relevant toolbar.
Chrome
Click the Chrome menu (or wrench icon) at the top of the browser window.
Select Settings.
Select the Extensions tab.
Find the relevant toolbar and click the Remove button .
Btw, Internet helper is also installed when Conduit is installed.

• How to set another search engine in safari?

hi all
can anybody tell how to set another search engine than google/yahoo in safari (e.g. Bing)?
thank you

At this stage, I don't know of any workarounds (or available plugins) for Safari for Windows 4.0.4 that allow you to put a different search engine option in the search field.
The workaround I've been using is to pin a Bing window into my Top Sites.
You can send an enhancement request to Apple about it. Although it doesn't look to be set up for it, if you bring up your Menu Bar and go "Help > Report bugs to Apple", you can use that bug report form to ask for enhancements. I was skeptical about that to begin with, but apparently they check that for feature enhancement requests, according to the following document. (It's mentioned right down the very bottom.)

• How to add a search engine manually to Firefox. (No, not via add ons)

How to add a search engine manually to Firefox?
For example, what should I do add a custom search engine? It is not available via add-ons. When I go to the search page, Firefox doesn't detect it and it doesn't prompt me or allow me to add it as a search provider. I am looking for options similar to that in Chromium browser.
let's say for instance, if I want to add redhat bugzilla to my search providers, I can go to search settings and just add https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=%s
Is there any similar option available in Firefox?

I use these;
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-to-search-bar/ Add to Search Bar]''' {web link}
Make any pages' search functionality available in the Search Bar
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/context-search/ Context Search]''' {web link}
Expands the context menu's 'Search for' item into a list of
installed search engines, allowing you to choose the engine
you want to use for each search.
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchthissite/ SearchThisSite]''' {web link}
Allows you to search the website currently viewed with
the website's internal search engine (and not the default
FF search engine or an external engine)

You can also add any search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:

Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

You shouldn't disable Spotlight completely; Apple's App Store relies on it to keep track of updates to software you've downloaded and permit you to update them when they're available. Instead, in Spotlight preferences, uncheck everything in "Search Results." Spotlight will still run for OS and App Store purposes but won't be useful for your search needs any longer. Instead, check out EasyFind in the App Store. It's fast, flexible, and will search external drives Spotlight hasn't indexed.

• Conduit Search Engine, Removal Help?

I have searched every where. Now here. I have the Conduit Search page every time I open a new page, not ever on my home page. But, I have nothing in my extensions or add-on's that has Conduit. It isn't showing up in my uninstall area, nothing. Any help or experience?

Note just changing the search engine selected in the search box on the right of the address bar may solve some of your problems.
You will need to remove any rogue software. (You may have already done that I see no ''conduit plugin'' listed in your System details aside.) The addon ''searchreset'' should then be able to sort out any changes that were made. Note that installs, changes settings and uninstalls itself.
* https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
* [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]]
Some users have been changing registry settings, but afaik that is NOT required,assuming you have got rid of all the rogue software.

• How can I remove the search engines that got added last time I upgraded on android? I have been able to remove them in the past so why not now?

I have always chosen FireFox because it has generally offered me options to work the way I want to.
I am not even remotely interested in having a whole load of redundant search engines begging me to use them whenever I type anything into the address bar of the browser.
However, some wise guy has decided that on the android version of the browser these are now essential to the correct and stable working of FireFox and so I am stuck with them. (Unless I go back to Google Chrome, which I am reluctant to do.)
Please reinstate the ability to remove this sort of clutter/spam from my favourite browser.

Thanks for the information kbrosnan. Can you please include the bugzilla ID for reference.
Thank you

• How can I remove the search engine called White smoke

I unintentionally added the white smoke toolbar. After successfully deleting the toolbar, the search engine remains. How can I take this search engine off my computer?

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
*https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
You can do a search on the about:config page for prefs that are referring to the White smoke server/domain and reset them via the right-click context menu.

• How is "Fast Browser Search" engine PERMANENTLY REMOVED (and I mean wiped), from the search engines that were included by default with recent Mozilla update?

Fast Browser Search (FBS) emgine is now being included in all the Mozilla Updates.
This concerns me because the company that provides it is a known malware distributor.
When Mozilla toolbar "Manage Search Engines" option is selected, I can choose to remove FBS, move FBS to the bottom of the list, move Yahoo to top as preferred, and FBS always comes back when Mozilla is closed & restarted.
If this browser search is used, malware is automatically downloaded onto my computer. My ISP has verified this as fact.
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (mbam) catches malware stemming from "Fast Browser Search" every time I scan.
I want this removed forever. I love using Mozilla, but if this doesn't go, Mozilla will have to go. I'll have to return to IE (which I don't want to do).
I cannot believe that Firefox Mozilla would knowingly include "Fast Browser Search" in their list of browsers installed by default. And setting the configuration for it constantly trump Google or Yahoo, when I move them to preferred, is ridiculous.
If I go the the Fast Browser Search website and follow the uninstall directions, more malware is slapped on my system. I read your recommendation to use that very process in your forum.
Please Help,
annie

Ahh, the toolbar is still on system. I thought ComboFix got it. I think I'll uninstall Mozilla prior to initiating the fix procedures you linked. The extracare service tech support I'm paying Frontier (ISP) isn't worth a lick. After I thought I had removed, I called them and had my system scoured by them. May need to cancel that $14.90/month service...seems to have been a waste.
Thank you so much.
I will be back with an update. Cross your fingers for me.
