How to remove CS3 after upgrade to CS4

What is the best way to remove all my CS3 suite after I upgraded to CS4 Suite? Thanks.

As I no longer require CS3 on my Mac after upgrading to CS4 and waiting for the required plugins to be available I have successfully uninstalled CS3 using the Adobe CS3 Creative Suite uninstaller.
NOTE: please make a copy of the 'Adobe Unit Types.osax' found Macintosh HD/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax
At home did this without making a backup of the 'Adobe Unit Types.osax', so when I launched Photoshop CS4 it suffered from the "Error: "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder.."
At work I did this with making a copy of 'Adobe Unit Types.osax', place it back after the uninstall of CS3... and presto so far so good.
for the 'Error: "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder... are missing' when you start Photoshop CS4 (Mac OS)" read here:

sorry if this has already been posted, I could not see this anywhere.

  • Should I uninstall CS3 after upgrade to CS4

Sorry to ask such a basic question but...
I just installed CS4 after recently installing CS3 after upgragding from CS1. When I went from CS1 to CS3 I am sure that the installer took CS1 away? My PC now has CS3 and CS4 on my PC and I want to know if I can just go ahead and uninstall CS3? If I do, is there anything I need to be aware of?
    Thanks
    Martin

I have a similar question. I just bought a new desktop computer with Windows Vista. I was able to get Adobe CS2 (which is not designed for Vista) installed and working by using the fix mentioned in a few posts on this site...installing to c:\progra~2\Adobe. However, InDesign from Cs2 will no longer open my Pagemaker 6.5 files. I'm ok with no longer using Pagemaker since I know it is going obsolete, BUT I desparately need to be able to convert all my PM files to InDesign. So, my question is...first, does CS4 Indesign open PageMaker 6.5 files? Second, I'm not quite sure how upgrade installations work. Since I have CS2 installed into a special folder, is that going to be a problem to install CS4? Do upgrades have to install into the same folder as previous versions, or do they go into their own new folder? Do I need to uninstall CS2 first? Any help/insight would be appreciated!

  • Uninstall Photoshop CS3 after Upgrading to CS4?

I am a late up-grader to Photoshop CS4 (new camera) and I would like to reclaim the gigabyte of space occupied by CS3 and associated files. Is it safe to simply use the uninstaller for CS3? Thanks for the help!
    Jeff

I just did exactly, that.  I installed Photoshop CS4, actually, the entire CS4 master Suite.  Then a few weeks after having used CS4 without any glitches I went through and deleted anything related to CS3 in all the various preferences and Application Support folders and it has been working great since.
I did have some droplets, plug-ins and other items from CS3 that I still needed to use in CS4 so I moved them from the old CS3 folder to the corresponding new CS4 folder. Everything worker very easily and without any problems whatsoever..
I think it would be very safe to use the uninstaller for CS3.  However, be aware that if you have an upgrade version of CS4, it will upgrade the existing CS3 and will not be able to do so if it is uninstalled.  I was working with a new full version so that was not an issue.  Sometimes you can simply put in the old CS3 serial number in order to verify ownership and sometimes you need the actual app on the HD for the upgrade.  It would be advisable to check with Adobe on this.  Or just install CS4 and then after it is verified as working, go through and delete all CS3 related files as I did.

Definitely leave CS3 installed until AFTER you install CS4.

  • How to remove app after upgrade to os 6 on iphone 4s

I cannot get the apps to show the removal x to get rid of an app after upgradeing to the new os 6 on my iphone 4s

    DELETING APPS
Touch the app and hold your finger down until all the apps start to jiggle. You will see a circled "x" in the upper left corner. Tap it to delete an app. When done press the Home button.
You cannot delete any pre-installed iOS app.
If there is No 'X' on any apps you have Downloaded... then check in Restrictions... Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps  =  Off / On
If the app is in iTunes, then you delete the app in iTunes (Select the App and Press Delete on your Keyboard). If you then sync with your iDevice, the app will also be deleted from your iDevice.

  • Uninstall CS2 after upgrade to CS4 - is there a new walktrough

Just upgraded from CS2 Premium to CS4 Premium on Mac 0SX 10.5.6, but left CS2 on there as I wanted to copy over a few preset files etc from CS2 to CS4.
Now I want to remove CS2. I've got an old document link for removing CS2 but it mentions removing directories that I know CS4 has installed or shares (e.g. Adobe Utilities and Adobe Updater)
Is there a new walkthrough or utility to remove CS2 once you have upgraded to CS4?

    Buko
That's a bit too succinct and general....
In your apps folder will be a folder call 'Adobe Creative Suite 2'. Within this is an' uninstallers' folder which contains the file 'How to uninstall.pdf'. This file is reproduced (as far as I can tell) at http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=331301
This talks you through the various folders/files to remove.
BUT BEWARE - this was written before CS3/4 existed and as my post (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b82bde) points out, there will be some folders it suggests you remove, but that CS4 actually need (e.g. Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities folder).
I'm seeking a new 'How to Remove CS2 after installing CS4' document myself.
Have spoken to Adobe Tech support today and their suggestion was to "not remove any files/folders you think CS4 may need'.
How flaky is that for Technical Support - some people like to keep their hard drives lean.

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

  • What's the proper way to remove CS3 after CS4 install without screwing up Acrobat?

During CS4 installation, I had some serial number issues with Acrobat. It turns out that even though Acrobat is part of the creative suite, the licensing for it is different. I've got all of that sorted out now and CS4 is successfully installed. Now I need to remove CS3, but I don't want to remove any shared components that would disable or affect Acrobat.
Should I just remove the CS3 folders in my Applications folder or should I use the CS3 Uninstaller?

I can't run any of the CS3 apps because of the Acrobat licensing issue that I mentioned earlier. Therefore, they're just taking up hard drive space now. I also have a suspicion that CS4 and CS3 might be sharing resources? Can't quantify that but quitting CS4 apps takes forever and shutting down the machine after quitting CS4 apps takes even longer.

  • Problems with updates after upgrading to CS4

I am experiencing update problems after upgrading from CS3 to CS4.
After completing the upgrade, I opened CS4 and then clicked on 'Help' and 'Updates'. The download was 280MB of updates, which duly started to install. However, during the install process, I received the 'installation incomplete' pop-up box and could only continue by clicking on the  ‘Cancel the current update and continue installing…….’ option. At the end, I  shut the machine down.
This morning I have  run the CS4 updates again, this time downloading 80MB (I guess the bits that it  didn’t do last night). When installing, the same 'installation incomplete' popped up three  times.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

Are you seeing which componenets are not successful? If no message in the progress window about what is being installed, there is probably a log.
Have you tried going to the website to download the update installer?

  • Adobe CS3 (32bit) upgrade to CS4 (64bit)

I currently run Adobe CS3 on a 32-bit platform, Windows XP Pro.  Due to recent hardware failures I am purchasing a new computer.  I plan to upgrade my hardware to support 64-bit Windows XP Pro.  I also want to upgrade my CS3  to CS4, to utilize the 64bit support.
Since CS3 does not install on a 64bit platform, how can I upgrade to CS4 on my new 64bit machine, or is this even possible?  I'm worried that I may have to purchase CS4 instead of upgrading due to compatibility issues with CS3 on 64bit machines.

I have vista Biz 64 bit on my new unit. When I try to install master collection CS3 on it the install happens and Bridge Acrobat and OnLocation work. All other programs say I need to re-install or there is a catistrophic failure on my license sub system. I tried switching to XP service pack 2 compatability but still can't get my other programs to start. Adobe customer support just refers to its memo about MC CS3 not supporting 64 bit but then says it should install if I go to a32 bit comp mode. please give more info if possible.. thanks

  • Removing GSF after upgrade to 11.1.1.8

    Hi,
We are currently running WebCenter Sites 11.1.1.6 with GSF in our environments. We wish to upgrade to 11.1.1.8.
WCS 11.1.1.8.0 includes vanity URL support. So we want to remove the GSF during this upgrade.
    I have following questions -
    ·         What are the differences between the GST framework and the new web-friendly URL attribute?
    ·         What are some of the things we need to consider (high level steps) to get this done to eliminate the GST references in our environment?
    ·         Are there any known risks/issues while removing GSF?
    Thanks a ton!

    Hi,
    PFB answers to your question
GSF has a lot of features, one of them is Vanity URL support. In our implementation, we removed GSF Vanity URL and used OOTB Vanity URL Support and went live 2 months back.
Q1. Differences between GST-Framework and New Friendly URL attribute
Pros of New OOTB Friendly URL
    1. GST Framework uses a URLAssembler to implement Friendly URLs, with the new Version it is Productized and does not require any URL Assemblers
    2. GST Stores all URLs of the Site in GSTURLRegistry Table, which gets populated using a AssetListener
OOTB VanityURL does nto need any of these listeners and gets populated into WebReferences Table
    3. GST uses the "path" field metadata tab to populate User Defined Vanity URL
OOTB Vanity URL provides a separate tab called URL on the screen, which allows you user to define a Custom Vanity URL
    4. GST limits the number of URLs for an Asset to be 1
OOTB Vanity URL allows you to create multiple URL for an Asset with different templates
    5. GST does not support 301 and 302 redirects
OOTB Vanity URL supports 301 and 302 redirects
    6. Automation of URL generation was not supported by GSF
OOTB Vanity URL supports Auto Generation of Vanity URLs with predefined functions thta can be applied to asset attributes
Cons of New OOTB Friendly URL
    1. GSF has a Custom Servlet Filter that allows users to generate a 404 page from a CSElement which could use an Asset for authorign the page and can be handled by Publishers (This sets a 404 response )
OOTB Vanity URL returns a blank 404 Page, it does nto sendError and just setsSatusCode to 404, thereby Custom Servlet Filters may be needed to support a Custom 404 Page, but not too difficult to handle
    2. GSF honours Asset Start Date and End Date and will throw a 404 until the desired date and time
OOTB Vanity URL does not support startdate and end date
Q2 What are some of the things we need to consider (high level steps) to get this done to eliminate the GST references in our environment?
    1. Note we continued to use Data Access of GSF even after Upgrade, so we did not remove the JAR file from Server, btu if you are not using gsf tld or API then remove the following JAR
( Usually Upgrade would have taken care of this, but good to check and add this JAR if you continue to use Asset API)
    Remove gst-*jar from WEB-INF/lib/
    2. Delete GST entries from AssetListener_reg table & flush the table
There are three rows in the assetlistener_reg table that need to be deleted.  Use the following command to delete all three.
    Delete from assetlistener_reg where listener like 'com.fatwire.gst.foundation%';
Do the following steps to clear the result set cache for the assetlistener_reg table in WCS:
Log into the WCS Admin application
    Click the Admin tab
Expand the "System Tools -> Cache Management -> Resultset Cache -> Summary" tree section
Check the checkbox next to the entry "wcs_dbAssetListener_reg" (Note this could change based on schema and db naming conventions but AssetListener_reg table cache needs to be flushed )
Click the "Clear" button near the top of the page.
    3. Update futuretense_xcel.ini xcelerate.pageref ( Usually Upgrade would have taken care of this, but good to check )
    Previous value: xcelerate.pageref=com.fatwire.gst.foundation.url.WraPageReference
    New Value: xcelerate.pageref=com.openmarket.xcelerate.publish.PageRef
    4. Remove any References to GSF URL Assembler in ServletRequest.properties ( Usually Upgrade would have taken care of this, but good to check )
    5. Change Webserver Rewrites from GSF to Vanity URL
Refer to docs below for full steps
    (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29636/config_vanity_url.htm#i1093062)
Decide your strategy for Vanity URL and use below Config for Rewrites
    Webserver Rewrite
To use Vanity URL with the Web Server a URL, rewrite rule has to be set in the Web Server. The rewrite rule should split the incoming URL into two parts lookuppage and lookuphost. These two parts should be sent to Web Center Sites as shown below
    /<contextpath/Sites? lookuppage=<lookuppage>&lookuphost=<lookuphost>
This can be done in one of the two following ways
    1) In this case lookuphost matches the Root URL defined in the Web Root. Lookuppage is the remaining part of the incoming URL.
    Examples:
    (a) Root URL – www.sitedomain.com
    Incoming URL - http://www.sitedomain.com/us/custom/products.html
    Rewritten URL - “/sites/Sites?lookuppage=/us/custom/products.html&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com”.
    mod_rewrite - “RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /sites/Sites?lookuppage=($1)&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com [L]”
    (b) Root URL – http://www.sitedomain.com/us/
    Incoming URL - http://www.sitedomain.com/us/custom/products.html
    Rewritten URL - “/sites/Sites?lookuppage=/custom/products.html&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com/us/”.
    mod_rewrite - “RewriteRule ^us(.*)$ /sites/Sites?lookuppage=($1)&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com/us/ [L]”
    2) This is simplest of the two. The rewrite rule does not change based on the WebRoot definition. In this case lookuphost is just the domain part of the Root URL defined in the WebRoot. Lookuppage is the remaining part of the incoming URL.
    Examples:
    (a) Root URL – http://www.sitedomain.com/ . Incoming URL - http://www.sitedomain.com/us/custom/products.html
    (b) Root URL – http://www.sitedomain.com/us/ . Incoming URL - http://www.sitedomain.com/us/custom/products.html
For both the scenarios the Rewritten URL and mod-rewrite rule remains the same.
    Rewritten URL - “/sites/Sites?lookuppage=/us/custom/products.html&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com/”.
    mod_rewrite - “RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /sites/Sites?lookuppage=($1)&lookuphost=http://www.sitedomain.com/ [L]”
    Recommendation
We always have our root URL to be  just the domain,as it will be scalable when we start serving multi lingual pages within Sites.
    http://www.sitedomain.com
    http://m.sitedomain.com
Q3. Any risk with the change
    a. We did not hit anything major apart from 404 support
    b. You also need to take care of migrating the URL from existing GSFURLRegistry to WebReferences and flush the cache and restart the servers.
Analysing table schema for GSFURLRegistry and WebReferences and map them for each column
other option is setup a urlpattern
${path!=null?path.substring(1):""} and edit and save all assets that have an entry in gSTURLRegistry. This will increase a version on the asset and may err out if an asset is checkedout by publisher.
Post doing EditSave, you need to run the below query for every assettype you did the above operation and flsuh table cache and restart server once done
update webreferences set patternid=0 where patternid!=0 and assettype='<assetype>'
Reach out to me on this thread if you run into issues
    Cheers!!

  • ACR extremely slow after upgrade from CS4 to CS5

After upgrading Photoshop and Bridge from 4.0 to 5.0 I can no longer edit photos in ACR (plugin v 6.3) because it now takes impractically long to refresh the image after most changes. For example, on the Basic pane if I change a setting such as Exposure, Brightness, etc. with a slider it takes about 5 seconds before I see the change to the image. Since CS4 is still on my computer if I load CS4 Bridge, open the same image in Camera Raw (plugin v 5.5) the same operation refreshes the image in about a half second. If I can't solve this problem I'll have to abandon CS5 and go back to CS4, which would be a shame. Any ideas?  Thank you!

You shouldn't be running version 5.5  of the Camera Raw plug-in in CS4 either.  Update to ACR 5.7 ASAP.
One should ALWAYS run the LATEST release of ACR for your version of Photoshop, no exceptions.  Each new release brings unheralded, unannounced and sometimes even unacknowledged bug fixes and improvements, beyond support for newer cameras.
Staying with an older version just because your camera is already supported by it is a very<euphemism>unwise</euphemism> decision.
