How to remove CS6 off a dead computer?

Hey all, I am in a bit of a pickle.
I have installed the CS6 on to two computers. Well, both of those computers recently died. I have a new laptop, but I cannot install the suite on it, because it can only be on two devices at a time.
How can I remove the creative suite off both dead computers to put on my new laptop?
Any help is much appreciated.

  • Deactivate CS6 from a Dead Computer

I have cs6 installed on a computer that the mother board died leaving the computer not able to start. I am not able to deactivate cs6 on the dead computer. How would I get this deactivated ??

I'm having the same problem. I had a laptop HD replaced and our IT guy managed to zap the entire drive in the process. It's taken a month restore all my apps. Luckily I'd backed up what little data was on the original drive. I use the laptop to work remote. I fought my way thru Autodesk subscription, Sketchup and their all the various plugin apps to get the system to match my workstations...then there's Adobe 'support'!
I use Production Premium CS6. After logging into my Adobe account I could get all my previous serial numbers except CS5, the one I'd need to activate CS6! I'd installed CS6 in 2012, using my upgrade based on my purchase of CS5 upgrade from CS4 and so on. I'm suspicious of that missing serial number, but I must be conspiracy theorist at heart.
On-line I found an adobe direct line that took me to an outsourced 'adobe rep' who was happy to help me. He connected to my laptop by remote and was glad to reactivate my CS6, however he told me that the CS5 serial number died with the old hard drive and that he'd be glad to reactivate for 599.00 USD! I then realized that I'd connected with a scam, not Adobe support!
Any real Adobe support for a CS products appears to have been dismantled, creating opportunities for scammers and I'm at wits end with trying to follow monster Adobe as it turns its back on its previous customers.
A chat line connection might be a saving grace for me...I don't find the link either!

  • How to get files off a dead iPad 1

Mine is an iPad 1, and I got it a couple of years ago. The previous owner rarely used it, and it looked like new.
One night I put it on to charge, and it had 23% battery remaining. The next morning, it was completely unresponsive.
I have tried the hard reset method (holding power/home buttons at same time for 1 minute) as well as DFU recovery mode, and neither creates a response. The screen stays blank with no signs of power.
Plugging it into the computer with iTunes running does nothing. iTunes does not recognize the iPad. I have an iPhone also, and iTunes does recognize it, and the charger for the iPad works with the iPhone just fine. So this is just the iPad, not my cords.
I have pages and pages of notes on the iPad and did not use Cloud to back them up because our Wifi is so slow.
How can I get them back?

If it's truly dead then there is no way to get the data. If it's just a battery problem, then you may be able to just get a battery replaced and find your data are still there. But I would see if you can determine just what the problem is before going further. Your local Apple retailer should be able to help by providing a diagnosis.

  • How do I move from a dead computer to a new computer?

Reading 20 pages or more and I can't sort this out. It should be EASY!
Every instruction I see talks about moving a BACKED UP profile to overwrite the new profile. My old profiles are NOT in backed up format. The old computer dddd-died... before I could plan anything. I have the old hard drive enclosed and attached to my new computer.
Using Windows Easy Wizard seems to depend on the old computer being up and running? Or can I step through and get it to transfer from an enclosed harddrive? There's a transfer tool Modiz-something but that requires use of backed up profiles from what I can tell.
On the old drive, I've located a folder called "profiles" under a Thunderbird folder (using a Start/Run command). It is NOT a BACKED UP profile. It's whatever was there on the old computer and used to run from. There are two folders, in AppData\local and in AppData\Roaming. Both with the same string of 8 characters.default. These files have lots of interesting stuff in them that look like they could be good TB data (extensions, itheme, minidumps, etc.)
I've installed Thunderbird onto the new computer and have located it's profile folder. There is also a file in the same place called "profiles" (listed as type "configuration"). This also has two folders one in \local and in \roaming with the same 8 characters.default. The \local has folders like "cache" and "cache2", while the \roaming has a list of interesting sounding names crash, minidumps, etc.)
So how do I move my old TB data to my new TB? What are the steps? Is there a page with those steps? Every page I find talks about using a backed up profile. Or about moving just the data folders without the profile. Also they are all so confusing with tons of info, but nothing streamlined for this situation.
    Thank you!!

Never mind. By the time I finished writing the question - the solution was more obvious. I copied both the roaming and the local profiles to overwrite the new computer's new profile.
So far it's working. TB is installing the add-ons and restarting with each one (a pain). But my old background is showing up.
Hum, the font looks different. I had installed something that allowed for changing fonts in the email list (not just when creating an email). Maybe it's someplace else and needs to be copied or modified.
So Is there anythign I'm missing doing to get this set up?
    Thanks !

And what specifically? The cleaner tool merely deals with teh installer data base. It does not remove the programs. You should have used the proper uninstaller. Now your only option is to eitehr manualyl delete al lleftovers or reinstall CS6 again, then run the correct uninstaller to remove all files.

  • How to remove MacVx adware from my computer?

I recently installed, by accident, MacVx on my Macbook air. Now almost every time I open a web page on Safari, it displays adds or pop-ups. I checked a few web pages and what I found is that, allegedly if you install an antimalware tool such as SpyHunter, it will automatically remove MacVX.
What I want to know is if that is the only way to remove the MacVX? or if there is another way that do not require installation of additional software.
    Cheers,
    Carlos

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • I have transferred itunes and library using home sharing.  How do I 'turn off' the old computer and just use the new one?  home sharing requires both to be on at the moment.

I have transferred my itunes content and playlists to a new computer using home sharing.  Now I want to use my new computer only, so need to 'turn off' the old one.   What do i do?

    Hello shiv99,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have used Home Sharing to play the music from one computer on another, but now you would like to only use the new computer. It sounds as though you have set up the content to share between computers, but have not actually I’m ported the media from the old computer to the new one. I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article to import you music from the old computer to the new one. After that process is complete, you can turn off Home Sharing if you would like and the content will be in the iTunes library on your new computer.

  • How to remove viruses

Is there a virus remover for macs?

    Not really needed, but see:
Helpful Links Regarding Flashback Trojan and Virus Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
A link to a great User Tip about the trojan: Flashback Trojan User Tip.
To check for the trojan: Anti Flashback Trojan 2.0.4.
A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started. Or the preferred method is to use Apple's protection tool: Flashback Malware Removal Tool 1.0.
Or, open Software Update. If you do not have the Apple protection software installed it will download and install it via Software Update. If no update appears that means you either already have it installed or it isn't needed for your system. The software is only available for Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion versions of OS X.
Also see Apple's article About Flashback malware.
For general anti-virus protection I only recommend using ClamXav.
