How to remove from iPad music files that do not appear in iTunes?

A 'phantom' music Album files appears on my iPad, in the Albums view of the Music menu. The album cannot be played and the three tracks on it appear greyed out when it is selected. It is not present in my iTunes library on my PC. Is there anyway that this file can be deleted or at least removed from the Music/Albums view?
Similarly, I downloaded a free track from iTunes directly to my iPad. This now shows on both my iPad and iTunes on my PC. However, I do not wish to keep the track on my iPad. Removing it from the playlist that sync's to the iPad does not remove it from the iPad. Is there a way to resolve this additional issue?
iPad is an iPad 2 with iOS 5.0.1. iTunes is version 10.5.2.11 on a Windows 7 laptop PC.

If you try syncing with iTunes again, perhaps the phantom album will be erased since it does not exist on the computer.
Have you tried restarting or maybe resetting the iPad to see if the album will disappear?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Im having a problem deleting a file I asked to open a music file, with itunes.
I was on a site called mp3skulls trying to listen and possibly download a file. I accidently requested it to be opened with itunes and as it did open with itunes and played. I can't simply delete it. It's not downloaded into my mac nor is it downloaded into itunes. It seems like it is being streamed from the site onto my itunes. I tried to find a delete option but there isn't one and i tried just dragging it to my trash can but it is still there playing.
there is a symbol right in front of the name that looks like this ((.)) (there's a dot in the middle) if that helps anything.
I just need to know how to delete this file cause i do not want to keep it.

If it is a system file and even if the file is corrupted, it cannot be deleted.
Try reinstalling phone software using Nokia suite if the phone supports Nokia suite and an USB port.

I would try the following, in order
Have your operating system search your entire hard disk(s)
If that doesn't find the files, restore from backup
If you don't have backups then perhaps you should consider making backups of both your catalog file and your photos from now on
Locate, download and install and run an "undelete utility" (freeware versions are available) -- if you are going to do this, do it immediately, do not perform other tasks on your comptuer

When you hook up your device and click on it, to the right you will see the Device Profile Screens with tabs like Summary, Info, Music, Photos, etc. Click on the Photos tab. There you will see the boxes that you select to sync (or not sync) your music. To turn off the Music sync, make sure the "Sync Music" box is not checked.

How to listen to an audio file (that's not a podcast) in this app

I have some foreign language learning audio files that I'd like to use the "back 15" button feature of this app. They're not part of a podcast. I haven't found another app that does has this "back 15 seconds" feature, so I'd like to play these files using the iOS Podcast App.
I found a thread that said to use iTunes to change "media kind" of an mp3 to "podcast", but my drop-down just has "music", and following others suggestions to hold "shift" when pressing "Get Info" didn't change that to include other options unfortunately. It was also suggested in old posts that in this case the file permissions may be read only, but that's not the case with my file.

Duh... found my error... I was attempting to access the data by referencing the created "root" element. Since <test> is the very first element tag, it's setup as the root element, which you don't need to reference. Changing the alert to alert(xml.data); fixed it.
Now I just feel dumb, lol...

Find the next pattern in the file (BA_LOG_OUTPUT), read the whole xml which start 4 line after the pattern, save it on the stack, stop reading when it find the pattern [. and so on.
It should continue to do the same throughout the file.

The solution may work but the problem is a bit more complicated than that. The example I gave above is just an example. In the real log file, the tags are never the same, so you may have something that look like this:

I need to restore my iPhone from a backup that is not listed in the itunes backup section. I only did it at 6 pm yesterday. Is there a way to find this backup on my computer and return it to the itunes backup list?

Normally backups are incremental, and you can only restore the latest. EXCEPT that a backup of an earlier version is archived, and the first backup of the new version is thus complete. You should be able to restore a 6.1.4 backup to iOS 7. Click the Restore Backup button. The dialog that comes up should have a dropdown where you can select a backup to restore. If the old one does not show up it cannot be restored.
However, since you appear to have a Mac, if you use Time Machine you can restore an earlier backup over the current one from your Time Machine history.
You can also back up to iCloud, even if you don't sync to it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262
One well hidden feature (for future use) is archiving backups. If you go to iTunes Preferences/Devices, right click on the current backup and choose "Archive". The next backup you make will be a competely new one, and the old one will be preserved and can be restored at any time.

I am runnig out of disk space and i just want to have more space. My files are located everywhere on my mac and I saw that I have a lot of songs that are in my itunes music folder and the same are in an other folder. I want to keep everything that is in Itunes and delete the rest out of my mac!

You can select some files in iTunes then right click consolidate.
Then delete the original files not in the iTunes media folder.
This way you don't have to do it all at once.
Note that when you add files to iTunes, they are copied into the iTunes media folder so anything you added in the past is already in the iTunes media folder. Consolidating wont do anything to those. Likely all you need to do is delete the original.

Music on ext HD not appearing in iTunes

Hello, just a wee quick question. Under preferences in iTunes, I have set my iTunes library as my external harddrive music folder, but I cannot get any of the music to appear in iTunes, why so?
Must I copy all the music onto my MBP? I can't for the life of me remember how I did this before. Please help

Setting the 'iTunes Music folder location' in Preferences>Advanced>General does not tell itunes where the music is located.
It just sets the location for new imported CDs.
And it tells iTunes where to store added music if 'Copy to iTunes music folder when adding to library' is checked.
You have to add the music to the Library.
If you previously had the external drive connected to another computer, copy the 'iTunes Library' file from your previous computer to the MBP.
This file contains the song locations.

Just click on the song's/album's price button and it should automatically be deducted from your balance - you can't specify how items are charged, it's automatic.
The only time that your credit card should be charged is when gifting, you can't use your balance for that, or if your balance doesn't cover the entire price (in which case the remainder would be charged to the card).
