How to remove "help" from the menu bar?
I'm using a landscape monitor in vertical mode, so I have a very narrow top of the screen. I never use the help button, ever. How can I remove it from the menu bar, freeing up some space? I need more space in the menu bar for MenuMeters etc. Thanks.
MacBook Pro Retina 15" (mid-2014) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
OS X 10.9.5
Usually the apps belonging to these icons have an option that allows you to hide the Menu Bar icon by allowing them to run as an app in the dock. However, certain applications like Caffeine must show their icons as otherwise you wouldn't be able to access them.
For example, Dropbox doesn't allow you to remove its menu bar icon:

How can I remove icons from the menu bar?
Help tells me to hold down the command key and drag the icon off the bar. But all that happens is that a dropdown menu appears which lists various actions which can be performed by the application. None of the actions listed include deleting the icon. When I try to drag the icon (still holding the command key down) it does not move at all.
I am running OS X 10.7.4.Do you mean the screen's menubar or the Finder's toolbar? Would you take a screen snapshot of what you are trying to remove? Some menubar icons are generated by the application and cannot be dragged out. Instead you have to quit the application that installs the item. I suspect this applies in your case.

How do I remove the Adobe updater icon from the menu bar?
How can I remove the Adobe Updater icon from the menu bar? It's pixelated and looks broken. Any help is appreciated.
I found this thread, but it doesn't work. When I click on the Updater icon, then click "Open updater," it opens the Creative Cloud instead. I haven't found a way to remove the updater icon from within Creative cloud.
Remove Adobe Updater from OS X menu bar?
^^ Doesn't work
Anyone know how to remove it?
Thanks!Found it, thanks to later posts in that thread I mentioned in the OP. Here is what they suggest (you have to use Photoshop):
1. In Photoshop, go to Help >Updates:
2. Click "Preferences" at the bottom right.
3. Uncheck the box labeled "Notify me of new updates on the menu bar." Then click "Ok."
Hope that helps anyone! -

How do I remove the Box icon from the menu bar?
I have an account on Box, which is a sync program.
Before the last Box updated, I could hide its icon from the menu bar, but now it is not possible and I really don't want it there.
I have tried to drag it out of there, by pressing CMD and dragging, but nothing happens.
Is there any other way to remove it?
Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry for the bad English. The problem is that I don't have the option to remove it anymore. And I don't want to uninstall it wither.
Anyway... Thanks for trying to help me. I'll have to get used to it.
Thank you again. -
I am tempted to remove Ff4 and revert to 3.X if I cannot fix this problem. The question (statement) has all pertinent details already included
'''Hello peacefultrev,'''
I believe from your question you wish to remove the window title-bar, while keeping the menu bar available.
I have two solutions for you to try. One requires no plugin and the other requires the installation of a plugin.
'''No plugin option:'''
This option hides the the window title while also removing the menu bar. The menu bar can then be reactivated and viewed simply by pressing "Alt" which shows the menu bar until you click away from it. To do this:
# Right click on the tab bar and disable "Menu Bar".
# Whenever you which to use the menu bar, tap "Alt" on your keyboard.
# When you click away from the menu bar the windows title will disappear until you tap "Alt" again.
'''Plugin Option:'''
You can download this plugin called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hide-caption-titlebar-plus-sma/ Hide Caption Titlebar Plus] which can be customized to suit your needs. I cannot provide support on this plugin as I have not used it myself.
I hope one of these solutions will suit your needs.

When is select Bookmarks from the Menu Bar, at the very bottom are a bunch of bookmarks. How can I move these in groups to a folder or folders?
The easiest way to move bookmarks around is in the Bookmarks Organizer, which at some point was renamed the Library. To open it, you can choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks or press Ctrl+Shift+b.
(Please note that the sort order of the Library dialog doesn't actually carry over to the menu. To sort the menu alphabetically, it's easiest to open the Bookmarks Sidebar, right-click the words Bookmarks Menu and choose Sort by Name.) -
I have lost the email Address Book from the menu bar. How do I get it back?
I have lost the address book from the menu bar. How do I get it back?
Which menu bar? Finder or your email client? Which email client are you using btw? If your email client you can customize your menu through the view>toolbars menu.
If Mail it's view>Customize Toolbar
Finder menu it's System Preferences>Users & Groups>your account>unlock the padlock>Login Items - add the address book by clicking the "+" sign. When done lock the padlock. -

The problem i am having is when i go to open a file from the menu bar that as "FILE" is blackcolor
the problem i am having is when i go to open a file from the menu bar that as "FILE" is all black in color and i cant see what i'm picking how do i change that so i can see what i'm picking
Is that Photoshop? Depending on the version you could try to change the Color Theme (Edit | Preferences | General | Appearance).
If that does not help, you may have a better chance to get a useful answer if you ask in the Photoshop or Photoshop Elements forum. -
The first time I synced my iphone 4 with my mac, I didn't realize that all of my photos from the iphoto library would transfer over to the phone (more than 3,000). Now, I need to remove some, as they are taking up too much space. I cannot figure out how to remove them from the phone. I tried to uncheck boxes and sync again, but I get a message that there is no room on the iphone. I've read as many articles as I can find, but still cannot manage this. Thanks for any help.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync

How to show items in the menu bar
I'd like to know how to add and/or delete items from the menu bar.
Yes....there is a menu bar at the top of the screen in which sit icons of things like volume, the date, the language, etc. When there are many of them, sometimes you can't see them all. I want to rearrange the order of some of them so that I can always see my Dropbox icon for example. If Apple kept iDisk (!!!!) that worked so well, I wouldn't be worrying about Dropbox.
