How to remove ICQ Search from Firefox

Are you an ICQ-user? Have you ever wanted to have your own search engine instead of theirs? Even when you uninstall the ICQ Search Toolbar in "Add/Remove Programs", delete the extension in Firefox's Add-ons and restart your browser, it still not completely gone! You may not have noticed this, but the simple reason is that ICQ.com doesn't actually care what people do and don't want running when you install their instant-messaging software onto your computer...
Luckily, you're not alone in this regard and there is a solution if you follow these instructions carefully:
1) Type in the address bar "about:config" (without quotes). You will receive a warning here about changing advanced settings, so don't uncheck the box and just click the button to proceed.
2) In the filter bar, type icq and press enter.
3) Change the '''browser.search.defaultenginename''', '''browser.search.defaultengine''' and '''browser.search.order.1''' to Google.co.uk
4) Change '''keyword.URL''' to http://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy-zb&hl=en&source=hp&q=
This is the default string for a keyword search through the address bar in Google, but if you use another search engine, type a word into it and simply copy the string created for that, minus the word itself!
5) Right-click to modify "extensions.testpilot.surveyAnswers.broken_extensions_survey" list and copy it to notepad.
6) Delete the ICQ Toolbar Parameter -- carefully make sure you observe how each parameter is listed so you get it all.
7) Copy and paste the new parameters list into the Modify box.
8) Close all Firefox windows, and then open them again.
That's it! Unfortunately Firefox doesn't allow you to fully delete the ICQ parameters from the about:config area - perhaps that requires ICQ's uninstall, or a complete reinstall of Firefox - but with this information you should have your search engine back to normal.
Unless you properly know how the rest of those functions work, I also suggest you don’t modify them.

See attachment. Select Bueno search engine and click Remove.
If it keeps coming back you've probably got some unwanted program on your system. A scan with a good AV and a Malware scanner ([https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Malwarebytes]) is recommended.

Get the idea? No matter what, Yahoo comes back every time I open FireFox. Which means I cannot use a set of tabs as my default any more. WHY????
Looks like it may be time to severe my long time use of this browser since the beginning with NetScape in the earliest of days with PC's. Too Bad.

This worked. The problem is the user.js file was changed. See below:

If you don't have any of the above programs installed, or if you followed the suggestions and single preferences still aren't being saved, you may have to edit Firefox's configuration files yourself. Don't panic, it's pretty easy. Here's how to do it.
Open your profile folder:
Click the menu button New Fx Menu , click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
Under the Application Basics section, click on Show Folder. A window with your profile files will open.
Note: If you are unable to open or use Firefox, follow the instructions in Finding your profile without opening Firefox.
Click the menu button New Fx Menu and then click Exit Close 29
Open the file user.js with a text editor (like Notepad).
If there is no user.js file, these steps won't help you.
Remove the lines for the options you want to be able to change. You can delete all the lines if you want to be able to change everything.
Save the file and close the text editor.
You should now be able to change your Firefox settings.

How do I remove babylon search from my computer

I had a technician to clean and remove Babylon search from my computer and it still attached itself to whatever I'm doing. I uninstalled Mozilla fox at least five times , then re-installed. However, I cannot get rid of Babylon search. I spent $100 dollars to resolved this problem and it's not working. I handle high confidential files on my computer. please make sure that you don't have any babylon related extensions or other suspicious entries like 3rd-party-toolbars presently installed under firefox > addons > extensions (babylon also might install some unwanted stuff that comes under the names "Browser Manager", "Browser Protector", "Bprotector", "Object Installer", etc.) or in the windows control panel > programs section.
afterwards install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customziations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

How do I remove "royal search" from my mac?

I have a macbook pro with retina display, my operating system is OSX version 10.9.5 (processor = 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 and memory = 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3), and my safari is version 7.0.6. Recently I was downloading some applications from online, and afterwards when I was using safari all these ads started to pop up (in Safari) - showing ads with my search results and whenever I clicked a link opening ads in extra tabs. I've managed to remove some of them by changing my system preferences (e.g. changing safari security, privacy and extensions), deleting unwanted applications and deleting certain files from my library (e.g. cached files). However, I've been unable to remove "Royal Search". Apparently it is "a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will change your browser homepage and default search engine to royal-search.com". I want to remove it as it's making my safari difficult to use. I've tried downloading different antiviral software and so far nothing has worked. If anyone knows how to remove royal search or would be able to help me figure it out I'd really appreciate it!

I had the same problem today. It probably started with few downloads from some websites.
I got mine fixed by deleting suspicious .plist files in safari.
You can go to finder and search for safari , Use the + sign in the top right corner and select system files are included in the search. Then just delete the .plist files you think are suspicious.
In my case, I just deleted all of them. And it worked for me.

I am desperate to remove Delta Search from my new tab page. What do I do after I open about:config? I have done at least a dozen resets, have removed DS via add/remove, am running a virus scan at present...this is TERRIBLE, and there HAS to be a way to get rid of it. When I do a reset, the new tab page is what I WANT...my previously saved pages. However, when I CLOSE FF and reopen, the new page is, once again, Delta. Can you hear me SCREAM? Can you see my TEARS? How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1? I am running OS X 10.7.5 and just updated Firefox from 28.0 to 29.0.1. How do I import my old 28.0 bookmarks into 29.0.1? I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. WHERE are my old bookmarks? Help, please!

Your bookmarks can be imported and exported from the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
*Go to the clipboard icon, click Show All Bookmarks <i>OR</i> press Cmd + Shift + B
*Once there, you'll see Import and Backup (see screenshot), you have a choice to choose between backing up as a JSON (Import and Backup -> Backup) or HTML (Import and Backup - > Export bookmarks to HTML)
Once this is done and the file has been backed up, you can import them using the same method (Import & Backup -> Backup for JSON/Import & Backup -> Import bookmarks from HTML (HTML)
One of our awesome contributors explained the difference between a JSON backup and a HTML backup that is very explanatory:
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that), so if you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
You can't import a JSON backup to add (merge) bookmarks.
Importing bookmarks from an HTML file adds the imported bookmarks to the already existing bookmarks, so you may need to remove duplicates.
An HTML backup doesn't support tags and annotations, so if you want to preserve those then you need to use a JSON backup.
A JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, so you need to visit a website to get back that favicon.

When I try to download podcasts from a website I've accessed through firefox, I'm not given the option to download the file to my computer. Instead, the file automatically starts playing in quicktime. This is annoying because I want to save the file in itunes for download on my ipod.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

In my knowledge the SD card slot doesnt has a any additional helps like the PCMCIA slot to remove the card.
You have to remove it simply. Try to grab the card and move it out. You can try to use the pair of tweezers. Maybe it helps
