How to remove irremovable patch packages

After my 1.3.1 upgrade I'm left with ~10 irremovable patches, which don't seem to cause any harm but the fact they are
showing up in the package list. They fail removing because of their failing removal scripts.
I hear you say: you better had removed them before the upgrade ;-)
Is there a way to get rid of those patch packages but the painful WebOS Doctor one?

  • How to remove a patch via smpatch in fail safe mode

    After installing patch
    139556-08 SunOS 5.10_x86: Kernel Patch
my system can not restart. Even after uopdating my boot archive the "normal" boot process fails every time and the system keeps restarting.
I would like to remove the patch in fail safe mode, but I do not know how to do it, when my system is mounted under /a.
Any advice, or alternative of how to get my system back online, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your help

I had the exact same problem with the same patch. I brought up the box in failsafe mode, mounted the zfs filesystem where my patches were located, cd'd to the patch directory, then re-applied the patch using:
patchadd -R /a 139556-08I didn't bother to do a patchrm first. After I re-ran the patch, I also did a force update of the boot archive,
    bootadm update-archive -R /aFollowed by
shutdown -i 6 -y -g 0And everything was good. Seems there are a number of folks having trouble with this kernel patch.

Thanks to another poster with a similar problem on this forum, I was directed to an Adobe Forum post that mentioned "Revo Uninstaller" ... I found the app at http://www.revouninstaller.com/
The uninstaller worked perfectly and I decided to load Reader ver 9.5.1 ... It works fine!

  • How to remove files with package manager?

CanI remove file with package manager
For example if there is a file /apps/cq/ui/widgets/source/widgets/form/RichText.js in Author Instance A, then I delete RichText.js file using crxde.  Then I create a package remove_richtextjs.zip with filter /apps/cq/ui/widgets/source/widgets/form/
Then I open another instance Author Instance B, there is an exact same file /apps/cq/ui/widgets/source/widgets/form/RichText.js.  Is it possible that if I apply remove_richtextjs.zip, an RichText.js will be removed from Author Instance B?
    Thanks

You don't have to pay to remove files. Just drag them to the Trash and Empty the Trash.

    Hi,
Can some one pls suggest me a solution for the following issue.
    1.I have installed 8.1.7.0
    2.Updated Patch 8.1.7.2.
Now i wanted to remove the installed patch for some reason.
I tried to use oui to do this, but couldn't succeed.
Is there any way to remove the patch, without disturbing the installed 817 product.
    Thanks in advance.

    Madan
I do not think there is a mechanism provide to remove an installed patch set leaving the base. Do you have a software backed up before you did the setup. If so you could restore it back.
    thanks

  • How to remove corrupt patches

Is there any procedure to remove a corrupt patch from multiple machines using SCCM 2012 ?  Like I have deployed monthly patches to many machines and would like to remove
one of the installed patches from all.
What is the procedure for the same please ?

There are no procedure for this, it will depend on the SU. You will need to re-search what command line you will need to remove it.  Then you can deploy it as either a package or application but again you will need to define the collection used for
    targeting.

  • How to remove comments in packages in oracle

    hi gurus,
can any body help me to remove commented code in packages in oracle?
    thanks in advance...

The obvious suggestion would be to edit the package (or package body) in whatever editor you prefer and recompile. I'm assuming you know that, however, since you managed to create the package in the first place. If that's not what you're looking for, can you explain a bit more what you're asking?

  • How to remove a package from package structure?

    Hello profs,
i have a problem. I add a package 'A' to another package 'B' in the package builder.
Now i don't know how to remove package 'A' from the list of package 'B'.
I have not found in the docu of package builder how to remove a package from the included list.
Has somebody an idea how to do it?
    Thanks a lot.

I found out that the relation between the packages saved in table TDEVC.
Field PARENTCL contains the surrounding package 'B' of the package 'A' field DEVCLASS.
At the moment the only way to remove the package is to modify the table.
But i look for another possibility for this issue.
    Best regards

  • How to find patch(KB) is part of which patch package

I have a patch which is downloaded and is part of some package.  is there a easier way to find that out. reason of this is, client is not able to download this patch, and our BDP is protected so I want to ensure the respective patch package
is properly copied to that BDP.
    Thanks, Samer

we have more than 300 packages, so was looking for a shortcut :)
I'm not sure how this is going to be a short cut as most SU will have 10+ GUIDs and as such you will need to first track down those GUIDs then you will need to determine if they are in which packages have each GUID and then determine if those packages on
    are each BDP.
Honestly what I would be looking at is how do you have your SU package configured? Are you allowing them to automatically be download to the BDP when content is needed by end PC? Why not set the Fallback option?

  • How does pacman know how to remove packages?

I've been looking at the 'Creating Packages' page, and it says to create a pkgbuild I only need to specify the build function. My question is... how does pacman know which files to remove when you do pacman -R? Does it keep track of all the files that were installed via build()?
Second question: How do you guys keep track of packages that weren't installed via the AUR? For example, if you want to hack on a project and use that hacked copy instead of the one available in the repos, what do you usually do? I'm guessing that I should let pacman keep track of those by creating pkgbuilds for them, naming them something like [packagename]-[version]-myown, and noting that it conflicts with the package in the Arch repos... is this correct?

When you build a package with makepkg, the build function is responsible for installing the files that will be contained in the package under ${BUILD_DIR}/pkg. That directory will be tar'ed and compacted to make your final package. When you install it with pacman, will be created the file  /var/lib/pacman/local/<name of your package>/files which will list all the files owned by your package. So pacman can know how to remove them when you ask it to be deleted.
About your 2nd. question, you are quite right. The only correction is that the name of your new package should be something like "package-myown-version". You should put the old name in the conflicts and provides directive of the PKGBUILD. You should read the wiki about ABS. With it, you can get a copy of all PKGBUILDS for your current repositories, so you can change what pleases you more.

  • How to remove a package built from AUR

    Hi!
I hope nobody has ever asked this question, but i didn't find an answer.
I built a package from the AUR repository but i don't use it anymore, that's why i'd like to remove it but i don't know how to remove it from my computer since it doesn't appear in pacman's list
can somebody explain me how to do this?
    thanks!

ok, refer to the man pages for pacman
-S (Sync) is for anything over the internet.
-Q (Query) any operation that is performed locally.
So yaourt -Ss means it will search over the internet in the AUR. If you wanna search locally for a package you use -Q for local query.
makepkg is not a pakcage manager, instead it is a package builder for pacman, pacman is the package manager. As Army already said, once you use makepkg to build the package, you need to install the package with pacman -U
    BTW, -U (upgrade) a package.
Need more info, read the man pages.
    man pacman
    once yaourt is installed
    man yaourt

  • How to remove all packages in a group except x, y, and z?

When I installed Arch, I installed KDE.  Since then, I've switched to tiling WMs (Awesome, then DWM), and I really have no need of most of KDE any more.  I still really like Dolphin, though.  Is there a simple way to tell pacman to remove the kde group except for dolphin and its dependencies? (i.e., rather than just removing all of kde and reinstalling the few bits I want.)

    Try
    #!/bin/bash
    groups="kde"
    packages="kdebase-dolphin kdeutils-kcalc"
    comm -23 <(comm -12 <(pacman -Sgq $groups|sort) <(pacman -Qq) | sort) <(for i in $packages; do pactree -u $i; done | sort)
    <thisscriptname> | sudo pacman -Rns -
It allowed me to remove 344 of 396 packages I installed with 'pacman -S kde', both dolphin and kcalc seem to work (they at least start up ;P).
Of course you need to modify which group(s) you want to remove and which packages you want to keep, as well as pacman options - I'm fine with '-Rns' but you may prefer different ones.
