How to remove old Ipod from Itunes?

Hi.
Have bought a new Ipod Classic 80g as wanted more space.
Used to have an old ipod mini 4g.
How do I remove the association of the mini from itunes?
Now when I buy music from istore it still thinks it is for the mini not my new classic so I have to enter my apple id again to authorise songs for the classic. It then says I have used up two of the 5 devices I'm allowed. (1 for Classic and 1 for Mini)
So, how do I tell iTunes I no longer want to sync with the old mini?
thanks.
Ed

  • How to remove old iPod from my account

I purchased a new iPod Touch and have it up and running.. I want to give my iPod classic to my grand daughter. I have restored it and renamed it, but I want to remove it from my account but it seems there is no option in editing my account to remove a machine from it. How can she register it to a new account when she gets it or use it when she goes to the iTunes store if it is registered in my account?

When the iPod is connected to her computer, change the computer it's associated with. Reregistering it with Apple can be done by clicking here and following the instructions, but isn't needed.

  • HT204406 how to remove a computer from itunes match

is there a quick way to remove a computer from itunes match?

It is a two-step process. In iTunes pull down Store > Turn off iTunes Match. Then Store > Deauthorize this computer.
Also, it is strongly recommended that you format the HDD of the comptuer before you dispose of it. Just make sure you make a backup of all important data first so you can move it to the new computer.

  • How to Remove old updates from Software Update service

Running a 10.10.2 OS X Server and have a lot of old Update files I need to get rid of. I have followed instructions on...
Mac OS X Server 10.4 or later: Removing old updates from Software Update Server
    ...but getting this error...
    No such file or directory
    ...when typing...
    grep swupd /etc/swupd/com.apple.server.swupdate.plist > ~/Desktop/update_list.txt
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I don't use Apple's own SUS software I use Reposado instead, however it is my understanding that the locations of files used by Apple's SUS software have been moved with Yosemite/Server 4.x.
Try looking in the following locations
    /Library/Server/Software Update/Config/
    /Library/Server/Software Update/Data/
    /private/var/db/swupd/

  • Remove "old" PDFs from iTunes: iBook Duplicates

    Hi everyone,
I did my researcher and tinkered with it, but I can't find out how to fix this. I guess now PDFs sync through iTunes from iBooks to iOS devices. Well, I had several PDFs from the pre-Mavericks era in iTunes ("iTunes Media" >"Books" folder).
Well I imported my PDFs into iBooks so that I could start adding new and managing them, but now all my devices have duplicates showing in iTunes (in the books tab when I select a device) and it tries to sync the old and new. I deleted the Books folder from iTunes Media, but it still attempts to sync those books and I get an error "can find file" when I sync, but most annoying of all is that on the books tab there is duplicates of all the PDFs that [I]were[I] in the old "books" folder and now in iBooks.
How can I get iTunes to delete and "forget" the old PDFs without restoring my device?

    Hey Jac151,
I also had the same problem...and heres the only solution I found. Take a look at this website: http://thetechgears.com/how-to-completely-reset-itunes-11-playlist-and-library-a nd-start-fresh/
It will reset your itunes library, and you will have to scan for media files to import all your stuff again (songs & movies). For mobile apps, your need to go to icloud to download them again. Its a huge long process, but it was the only way that would reset the way it viewed my pdfs in iBooks. Good luck!

  • How to remove the cloud from itunes

I moved my itunes from one pc to another and now most of my songs are in the cloud and need to be downloaded to be used.

I suspect that you haven't moved your library successfully and are therefore seeing the cloud links to your previous purchases after signing in to your account, like this.
Might be time to have another go at bringing the library across. These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
Alternatively, if you've "restored" your libray to somewhere other than <User's Music>\iTunes then hold down shift as you start iTunes, and choose the library in its new location.

I have an iPad that my husband now uses, but through common WiFi and iTunes account, it appears in my Mac in iTunes (sync). Do somebody know how do I remove it without setting iPad as new? He is syncing it with he's own comp, I don't want to have it shown in my.

You just click the Product (as highlighted in grey)
Click the [Remove Product] button centerstage - the appears VERY briefly beside the button
one responds to the challenge "Are you sure..." by clicking [Remove Product] once more
    Success page
notification email ( notice there is NO "Undo" )
back to MySupportProfile after clicking the only button on the Success Page

  • How to remove duplicate songs from Itunes

I've consolidates my music in Itunes 11.01. Playlists are just getting crazy with duplicates.
I want to eliminate duplicate music files, as well as eliminate the references in the interface.
    Then sync my new IPad.
When I manually erase a duplicate in Windows Explorer, I'm left with a "!" indication in Itunes that the file cannot be found... duh.
I want to find either an easier way to eliminate duplicates without Windows Explorer, or
a way to select all the "!" references in Itunes interface and delete.
Help please from a completely organized person who hates Apples "intelligence" at thinking it knows what I want, and not providing
adequate help under "remove duplicates" in its help index.
    Thanks.

I would do it manually.  As you can see from turingtest2's post, some duplicates are not really duplicates.
I would also review how you add media to iTunes.  It should not be producing all that many duplicates.

  • How to remove credit card from iTunes account

I have been trying to download FREE apps and recently it says its not valid and to change it. I don't have a real card or money to spend for an iTunes card. I have looked all over the web and nothing useful. I don't have a computer nor have one to use. I would think after paying money for a product and service it would work properly, even more so for how much these are worked on.

If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.
