How to remove OS X upgrade pop ups?

I am usually using my Mac Book Pro to stream media content to my big screen TV for a presentation or to watch movies. Quite often I get this pop up that tells me that I need to upgrade OS X or something else. Is there a way to remove it? (I don't want to install another OS so how can I make it go away for good?)
PS. Worst still, when this popup comes up it stays on top of my full screen presentation or a movie and there's not easy way to dismiss it. There's no close button. The only way is to click it which brings up a bigger update window in about 5 to 10 seconds that totally messes up with my full screen viewing.

I turned off Time Machine and I do not have anything there...
this is my first Mac and I'm just learning.
Mountain Lion 10.8.1  battery works only 3 hours
lion 10.7.4   battery works 6 hours
for me it is very important

How do I get ads and pop ups off my computer?

Your question is one that tends to bring out the worst of all the bad advice that infests this site. There is, in fact, no need to download anything to solve the problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

    You may have pop-ups blocked.
Go to Settings>Safari and turn "Block pop-ups" off. You may needs to restart the ipad after turning off this settings if it doesnt work immediately

  • How do I stop the Firefox pop ups on the Firefox 4 homepage, now?

I uploaded the new Firefox 4. My default page now just appears with non-stop pop-ups that ask me to be sent to various places to learn stuff. There seems to be no way to get rid of them. I will stop using Firefox altogether if I cannot.
Here is a sample of text within the box. There are embedded links that take me to the site if I click. If this one does not pop up another one does. They seem endless. I don't want them.
Take Firefox 4 anywhere you go! Firefox 4 for Android and Maemo is live and ready for you to enjoy. Get it now.
I do not want it or anything else now! I just want a home page without demands. How do I get rid of these pop up boxes. Or should I just go to explorer. By the way, I went through the procedures to stop Firefox pop ups and it had no effect whatsoever and was unclear about how to fix the problem.
    Help! Thanks

What the hell are you talking about? I have the same problem and this has nothing to do with malware or bad websites. I just upgraded to firefox 4, and everytime I reload google home page (house icon), mozilla posts and displays a stupid advertising message right below the google search bar (incorporated into google code page display). Message such as "Take Firefox 4 anywhere you go! Firefox 4 for Android and Maemo is live and ready for you to enjoy. Get it now - you like firefox 4? learn more etc...". Refresh google.com on f4 and you'll see them too. I don't know how you browse but you must have less sophisticated habits.
This can get very aggravating for people that use very often the refresh icon in order to refresh or launch a new search, which makes more sense for me for a few reasons:
I like to be looking at the center point of my screen and not on the little Google window on the top right. I'm not looking INTO my screen's corners. But INTO my screen.
I very often refresh, almost in between every page since I do rarely navigates from one page to another, but usually launch my own search.
I do a lot of searches. Image... text.. articles. Mostly worked-based.
I have this habit and I am not going to drop it.
Anyway.. Please drop the condescending "buddy" every two lines, and be assured that it is a Firefox problem. I have the same problem as drmiller333.
Does anyone have found a way to stop this?
Does it stops after a few days?
I just downgraded back to firefox 3.6. I would like to benefit the new engine and updates coming with f4 but I won't as long as Mozilla keeps posting those aggravating messages. I don't give a f... about "android, maemo" or "how to learn more about how awesome is mozilla".
I may move to chrome is they don't do something for it.

  • How do I get rid of pop ups on my macbook

I keep getting pop ups which just started recently, I may have downloaded some sort of media player which obviously was not. How can I get rid of these same pop ups?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

    Hi,
I imported a robohelp document from another company and i am

  • How can I get Facebook game pop-ups to appear without having to downgrade Firefox as I need version 6 for work?

When I try to send back a gift in a Facebook game, there should be a pop-up that appears to allow me to do this. However in the newest version of Firefox, I can not get these pop-ups to appear and I have to have version 6 to be able to work from home. So how do I fix this?

This might be because your settings are configured to block pop-ups. To fix this:
    1. Go to: Firefox > Options > Content
    2. Untick the 'Block popup windows' option
    3. Click 'OK'
'''If this was the answer you were looking for, please click 'Solved' -- Thanks.'''

  • How to change the Views or Pop-ups?

    Hi All,
I have a huge user interface with many views and pop-ups, and want to know what is the best method to make changes to them.
I need to add or change input fields in the views, but some of the fields are not yet available from the RFC models.  Therefore, in this case, is it acceptable to use Apply Template (even though some fields are not be available) or should I create/change the ui elements individually or manually change their properties?  Would the second option, which is to manually create/change the input fields on the screens, be acceptable practice?
Also, how should I go about re-arranging or re-aligning the buttons, check boxes, etc?  I have tried drag-and-drop, but it is very difficult to line things up.  Is there an easier way?
Thanks so much for your help.

I have not receive a response.
My question is, if I make changes to my views WITHOUT using Apply Template, will that pose a problem later on when I do the binding against the new fields that will be coming from the RFC model?
Is it necessary to wait until the RFC model has been updated with the new fields before proceeding with the changes to the screens?
The reason I'm asking is because in the interest of time, the client has asked me to complete the screen layouts first.  Then the bindings can take place later once changes to the Remote-enabled Function Modules (adaptive RFC) have been completed. What is the common practice in this case?
Please offer your expert advice as this is urgent.
    Thanks so much.

  • Flash player doesn't work -  How to get rid of Flashruntime pop-ups

    I have 2 problems:
    1.
My Flashplayer stopped working months ago, when using Internet Explorer. It does Work when using Firefox.
    I prefer using Internet Explorer.
Now I have uninstalled Flashplayer and installed Again - same situation.
I have also tried to install Adobe Air with no positive result.
    2.
For some time I have had the problem of Flashruntime pop-ups continously, no matter which website I opened. I could not click it away - or admit.
By advice from Microsoft I have reinstalled Internet Explorer. Now the Flashruntime still comes up when I open certain websites but not quite as heavy as before.
I have blocked pop-ups. The Flashruntime does not appear on the list of add-on programs where you have the possibility of deactivating.
Please see Picture of the pop-up (in Danish text) above.
I hope you can suggest solutions for me

  • How do I tell my allowed pop-ups to always come to front?

I use a web-based accounting program that is very dependent on pop-ups. It's easy to forget you've left your pop-up window open and when you click on something that would bring one up it simply refreshes the one that's hiding. Is there a way to get Firefox to always bring it forward?

You stop the popups by letting it know you subscribed - because it WILL stop working at the end of the trial. To let it know you subscribed, just sign in.
