How to remove photos

i need to take my macbook air in for repair. how do i remove (and copy) my
photos first?

Well, you should back up everything, ideally. Do you have an external drive on which you can start a Time Machine backup?
If you're concerned with privacy, create a new administrator login on the Mac, and give Apple that login. Don't give them your regular login/password.

  • How to remove photos from the photo library

How can I remove photos from the photo library?
I searched and tried the below method.
I connected to the PC and open iTunes. I clicked "photos" on the top. Then clicked the box "Sync Photos with" and choose the dropdown and "choose folder"
Then I clicked "desktop" option and chose an empty file and click "apply", "sync".
However, it doesn't work. Nothing has been removed.
I saw there is another method - deselecting the checkbox of the photo files. However, in my iTunes, there is no files has been selected.
How can I delete photos from the photo library? Thank you.

How did the photos get onto your device (and is it an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch ?) ? Only photos that were synced from a computer can be deleted via iTunes, photos that were taken with it or saved from emails/websites on the iPad (or if it's an iPad copied to it via the camera connection kit) can be deleted directly in the Photos app, or you might be able to delete the via the import process : Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC.

  • How to remove photos from photostream?

I'm not loving iCloud.  I LOVED mobileme and my gallery in there, among other features.  How do you remove photos from photostream?  So frustrating.  iCloud was supposed to be easier, effortless and this is not the case. Some pictures show in photostream on my iphone and others show in iphoto.  I don't get it.  Anyone know the answer to this mystery of how to make them sync?

You can't delete individual photos, you can reset photostream from iCoud.com and turn off syncing for photostream on each device, but that will remove all photos from photostream.
Photostream syncing requires wifi, make sure you have a wifi connection for photo stream to update correctly.

How did they get on the phone?
If they were synced via iTunes then they need to be removed via iTunes sync.

To delete Camera Roll photos and videos from your device
Open the Photos application and open the Camera Roll.
    Tap the Action button.
Tap each photo to select it.

To delete iTunes synced photos and videos from your device
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."

  • How to remove photo album from IPhone 5

I copied a photo album from my PC to my IPhone (for a slideshow at a funeral).  The photos did not originate on the IPhone.  Now I want to remove this photo album, but there does not seem to be any way to do so.  The Iphone does not appear to allow for removal, and the album does not appear in ITunes on my PC.
The Settings>General>Usage tab allows me to delete all of my music, thus allowing me to reinstall what I want, but this feature isn't available for photos.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

  • How to remove photos from photo library?

I am new to the iPhone & use a Mac. In iTunes I have unticked the box sync photos from on my device, however I still have the photos showing on my iPhone. How can I remove them?

Not sure that I have the answers, but messing around with my iPhone 4 (had it 2 days) and using iPhoto on my iMac, here's what I've found...
the Photo Library is just a duplicate or reference file to any other photo synched to the iPhone. If you have 'faces' in iTunes checked when you synch, it will put those files in the Photo Library also... basically you can click Sync Photos from 'iPhoto >> check Selected albums, events, and faces, and automatically include 'no events' >> choose the Albums you want synched. THEN, be sure to uncheck Faces .... this method will still combine all your synched photos in the Photo Library folder on the iPhone, but there will be a lot less....
at least that was my issue...

This contains photos synced from your computer to your phone.  You must sync it off by connecting your phone to your computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of your phone, unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, then clicking Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.

  • How to remove photos from my iPod Video

    Hello,
I'm new here and new in general to the whole iPod shebang. I uploaded a set of photos to my iPod to see how it would work. Now I want to remove them. I've gone through this forum and the iPod manual online and can't find an answer anywhere. All it tells me everywhere is how to get them on there... not off of there
    Cheers E.
      Windows XP

I can tell you how. Pluf in your iPod and open iTunes. Click on the iPod icon in the source list. On the top, there is a "Photo" tab. Click on that and there is a box where you uncheck the selection and your iPod will delete the photos. I don't recall the excate phrase under the "Photo" tab. But you can see it, there is no way that you can't. If you have any questions, please reply to this message. Good luck.

  • How to remove photos from the new photos app (os x Yosemite) from one mac without (accidentally) deleting them on my other mac?

I've upgraded from iPhoto to Photos app on my MBP. All the pictures from my main mac got uploaded to the iCloud. I also upgraded to Photos on my older mac (it has limited HD  space) and all the pictures started being downloaded to it. I went to preferences (on the older mac) and turned off the downloading, photo stream, etc. but the pictures are still there. I'm afraid to hit delete because I don't want them to magically disappear from my main mac.
All I want, is to remove them from my old mac to free up the space.

If you turned off or uncheck iCloud Photo Library and My Photo Stream in the Photos app preference window, then the delete should not sync up to the cloud. Also, until you empty the 'Recently Deleted' container, the images are still on your Mac:
    https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht3bfab2f96
Deleted photos and video aren’t immediately removed from your library; they’re placed in the Recently Deleted album, where they remain for the number of days shown, and then are deleted. You can recover the items before that period of time (see the next task). If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, the photos may remain in iCloud up to 40 days and then are removed from all your devices that use iCloud Photo Library. If you’re not using iCloud Photo Library, your deleted photos are removed from your Mac only.

  • How to remove photo storage membership?

I was shocked to get an email from Adobe telling me that my photos would be moved to Revel.  I was not aware Adobe had my photos in storage.  I never asked for this, so I do not appreciate Adobe assuming that I want my photos in their storage to share with others.  I am getting very tired of this Share hoopla.  Share share, share.  I am tired of this so what should I do to take my photos out of Adobe's storage? I did make sure I did not check anything to sync my photos with anything.  Thanks

You were notified by Adobe as a courtesy in case you had previously stored any photos  on Photoshop.com.  If you did not sync or add any files to Photoshop.com then you should not have any stored. The questions below will help you check and see if there are any files and you can decided what you wish to do with them. Your files are not automatically shared with others, you must decide to share them and share a link. If you decide to use Revel, then we have FAQ's and tutorials to show you how to put your photos there to share amongst your own devices, and how to choose to share some with others if you choose to do so.

  • How to remove photos from camera roll but remain in album?

I want to delete photos that I have in camera roll but those same pics to remain in the album I create before. Any suggestions?

You can't. When you 'copy' them into new albums you are effectively just creating pointers to the original photos, so if you delete the original photo you will also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could copy the photos to your computer, organise them on there, and then sync them back.

  • Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port.

Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port...
Someone told me just to remove the chip in clicking it to the trash can and voilá - it would be done. But as I did so, on the screen appeared a text which let me know, that that way had been the wrong one...
I should have clicked Finder plus something.... which I do not now remember but which was then not found behind the Finder.
So please would someone be so kind and tell me, where I can find explanations for the most simple functions. The manual I got does not include a clue.
    Thank you!

First make sure that no application is using or has open any files on the disk. Then:
Click and drag the disk icon on the desktop to the trash. Wait for the system to recognize the action, and the icon should disappear from the desktop. It is then safe to remove the device.
Alternatively, you can secondary click on the disk icon, and then primary click "Eject (name of disk)". Wait for the icon to disappear off the desktop, and then it is safe to remove the drive.
Here is a detailed help document on the subject.
