How to remove scratches?

I've got a **** scratch on the front of my mac, I've been looking all over to internet to try and find something, is there anything I can do?
Thanks.

because its matte aluminum, no actually
And I dont say that lightly, having polished metals for many years, its near impossible
removing scratches very easy
on matte aluminum it makes it look horrible
remove scratch
feather out the scratch removal
raise the finish
lower the finish
blend the finish
< all that takes serious skills, its maddening to match matte aluminum after scratch removal.

Front I'd say you can't without affecting how the digitizer is going to work, and as for the back .... why bother?
If you want to mitigate further damage, then consider something like ZAGG shields, which provide coverage for both sides, or better cases, or some combination of the two.

  • How to remove scratches from macbook pro aluminum body

I got a small scratch (without any indentation) on the narrow strip of aluminum left of the keyboard and just above the USB sign.
It's a scratch of 2mm length extending from top to bottom (in the picture it's the part where the aluminum body is faintly grey).
And I was wondering whether there is any proven way to get rid of it, or at least conceal it because that little imperfection is driving me crazy!!!
And I would appreciate it if nobody said "Get a sticker", "It's a small scratch get over it", or any other positive crap like that.
Cosmetics are just that important to some people...

When it comes to Car or Laptop scratch, there is hardly any solution that works. Applying toothpaste or some other weird solution may only clean the surface or make it more glossier but I am doubtful if it can remove any scratches. This looks interesting but it worked for an iPod http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/radtech-ice-creme-version-2-scrat ch-remover-ipod

Make sure Address Book has at least one entry, the entry can be fake, that doesn't matter. When you do sync, and select contacts, this will generate a merge or replace prompt. Select merge. You never want to sync to an empty contact or calendar application on your computer.

My little brother had dropped my phone and the screen has a very noticeable scratch covering 2/3 of the screen. Does anybody know how much to remove the scratch from shops or something or any screen protector that can hide the scratch
    Any advice is appreciated

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
It all depends on how deep this scratch is. Sometimes you can hide a scratch by applying a screen protector and if it really minor you can polish it away just using a cloth.

  • How to remove a repeating 75 to the inch 'quarter-moon' pattern?

I am working with old images, including those from newspapers, and have become quite adept at repairing them with PS. I am familiar with most of the techniques for removing scratches, dust and half-tones, but I have difficulty in dealing with one particular feature of some of the photos unless I manually click about 50,000 times per photo. The feature is: photos that have been printed on a roughened surface that has a repeating 'quarter moon', 75 to the inch. A small sample can be found at:
    http://jucreek.googlepages.com/temporary
When I am repairing a photo, I work first on a coarse scale on everything but the face; then I zoom in and on a much finer scale touch up the face, reasoning that people are much more aware of facial blemishes than elsewhere. In the past, with photos similar to the one in question, I take this approach one stage further: I try to remove most of the quarter-moon pattern (other than on the face) with the blur tool using a large diameter, staying away from edges so they are not disturbed; then I zoom in on the face, working on a much finer scale, and again staying away from edges and from the eyes. i.e. I leave the pattern on and around the eyes, reasoning that the eyes are the most important part of the face and unless the pattern is distracting when viewed normally, the eyes should be left alone.
Can anyone suggest a better technique for removing the effects of this quarter-moon pattern? It is of concern to me because at 75 to the inch I am pretty certain that the pattern is going to cause problems when I print the image. The original photo looks OK, but I suspect moire patterns will come to the fore if the pattern is not removed before I print.
Does anyone know what this pattern actually is? Out of approximately 2000 pre-1960 photos I have scanned, maybe only 6 or 8 have this type of pattern, and I think all of them they may have been studio photos.

I'm looking forward to the day (although I suppose I'll be long dead before it happens), when PS has enough intelligence to be able to remove spots and half-moon patterns by itself. When you can sit in front of your computer and say to PS:
i See all those spots, can you remove most of them the way we talked about yesterday. You know, make sure that after you remove a spot that us humans won't be able to detect the change. If you're not sure, how about flagging any spots you're not sure how to handle, and I'll go over them with you later on so you can learn how to do those yourself next time. I'm going for a cup of coffee. Shouldn't take you long, should it?
i About 3 to 4 minutes for that one. What'll I do after that if you're not back?"
i Put it on that page next to the woolscour, and make up a caption. You'll find the details in the photo file. And don't forget to add a gradient fade so the sky fades to nothing, and flow the text into the fade like you did for the swimming pool photo. I'll be back in about 10 minutes."
    I can dream, can't I?

  • How to remove all transitions?

I used the automate to sequence with default transition. A few dozens of transitions were added to the sequence.
How to remove all the transitions without deleting the sequence and starting from scratch please?
    Thanks in advance.

The difference in file size you are seeing is because you are only using motionless stills in your movies. No motion, and no effects. Some codecs allows for file size reduction by writing first and last frame information for a still, regardless of the length in the video sequence. Why the transition increases file size is because the codec actually has to write info for each frame in the length of the transition.
This is not going to be the case with anybody working with actual video clips, or if someone adds motion to their stills. The codec then has to write information for every frame, resulting in a larger file size. For most projects, transitions will not make any significant change in file size.

  • I want to know how to remove the back cover of my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 to install new memory?

I want to know how to remove the back cover of my HP Product name: HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 to install new memory?  All the HP website shows is how to remove memory covers.  Unfortunately, with newer models like mine, the whole back cover needs to be removed.  I have tried unsuccessfully to remove it but so far all that I have succeeded in doing is to scratch my cover.  So can anyone help???
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The procedure is detailed starting on Page 67 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Note:  I don't work for HP, but looking at the degree of disassembly required, I would say the procedure may well void the conditions of warranty.

  • Remove Scratches + Best Case?

OK. So theres a billion threads on this, and I'm EXTREMELY sorry to ask this again, because being a forum person I know how annoying it can get.
First off all, it's only been about 3 weeks since I've had the 5G iPod. It isn't as badly scratched as some of my friends', but theirs are older. I have been keeping it in its little case that came with it. It scratches like crazy sadly.
I wish to remove all the scratches as good as I can from every aspect of the iPod (screen, front, back, side). Then I want to get a good cover for it so I never have to worry again.
I have heard many ways of removing scratches. I've seen anything from Meguiars, Brasso, and Displex. I've read of others. This confuses me. I want to be sure my screen won't be smeared, I won't cause any hardware issues, etc. I want the best of the best for the best.
I have also heard of plenty cases. Everything from rubber with shock absorbers, Invisible Shields, leather cases, etc.
The Invisible Shield looked appealing. I want to be sure I can keep all functionality but be able to add protection from scratches and hopefully a drop just in case. Maybe rubber would work better. The sleekness of the IS looked awesome tho.
Sorry for the long and repeating thread, but I really need to get this sorted out.
Thanx in advance for all those who read/helped me with this.

Ok, so you are going to want to get a good old can of brasso, and also an invisibleSHIELD.
Order the invisibleSHIELD, then once it gets to your house. Go down to the store, and buy a can of brasso. Only use brasso if you have a black iPod. I hear that it turns white ones yellow. Use a micro fiber cloth, and clean your iPod with it. It should take all the scratches out. Then once you have all the scratches out, and your iPod is clean, put on the invisibleSHIELD.
Then I also recomend getting the Speck Toughskin. It is amaizing. I have it. If you want to read up about everything, here are some links.

Speck case. (My review goes through everything, pros and cons. You need to change the drop down tab to most usefull, then it should be fifth from the bottem on the second page.)
