How to remove the "removable drive" feature on a Zen V P

I really love the Zen V Plus and most of the features. It is one of the best small mp3 players that I have had. One that that dri'ves me nuts though is you are forced to use it in MTP mode and you can only use it on a windows machine. It would be nice if you could use it in UMS mode so it would show up as a normal dri've. I also have a SanDisk e200 and it allows you to switch back and forth between MTP and UMS. It would be nice to see creative make a new firmware release where you could do this.
Anyway I made a 52 removable partition on the Zen V Plus to transfer some data around but I can not figure out how to delete it so I can use all the space for music again. Anyway to do this without wiping everything out and resetting it's

I'm pretty sure if you select the menu button it will bring up a menu with the different sizes of removable space you can have. The last option should be "Disable Removable Dri've" Select that.

Why can't you provide specific instructions here in HT203909 (Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD) about how to make the USB drive bootable?  The article referenced for partitioning the drive is not dedicated to Bootcamp--too long, too many options.  How do you make it bootable?

If your BC Assistant shows the option to create a USB Installer, it automatically is marked as bootable. There is no need to have manual intervention to make a bootable USB. Once the process is manually modified, it is supported by the person modifying it.
You have two or three options (depending on your Mac Model).
    1. Create USB... - Use a USB2 flash drive, which is erased and formatted. If your Mac supports ISOs then BCA will prompt for the Media. Any Mac which does not have a built-in Optical drive will support an ISO. There are specific Mac models which support both, DVD and USB based installation.
    2. Download Software from Apple servers...
    3. Install Windows...
Are any additional instructions really necessary?

On windows load the airport utility .. latest correct version as possible.. there is no windows 8 but win7 works after a fashion.
Make sure the TC is using SMB compatible names.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Type the name directly into windows explorer.
    \\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
If no luck turn off all the firewalls.. internal windows plus security software plus whatever other gargyoles and other rubbish AV software you have running.
Ensure windows is able to at least ping the TC by IP address and name..
Use the utility in windows to set file sharing to guest account on with full read and write access.. and set workgroup to WORKGROUP.

  • How to use the dvd drive...?

    Hi Guys,
Just bought my new 15" 2.53 Mhz Duo Core MacBook Pro a month ago but until now I haven't figured out how to use the DVD drive. Well I can't seem to find where it is actually... Does all MacBook Pro has dvd drive? Coz when I check back apple's website and look for the same macbook pro specification like my one, it has a dvd drive included so I thought my macbook has it for sure but can't or don't know how to use it... This is my first time to have an apple that's why...
    Hoping for your help..
    Thanks,
    Danny

    Hi there Danny.
I believe you are looking for the location of the DVD drive... right?
If you are looking at your computer while it is open, it should be on the right hand side... "under" the keyboard. There is a slit that allows the DVD to be inserted into the computer. I think if you start to insert a DVD in there (shiney side down) part way, it will suck it into the computer.
(note: I'm not exactly sure, because I use a 7 year old iBook that has a pop-out DVD tray... but I think it will suck it in for you)

  • How to remove missing features and webparts?

I've moved and upgraded a 2007 teampoint site to my Enterprise SharePoint 2010 site. The site is up and running but I've got this nagging error about a missing webpart and a missing feature.
The features that were not compatable were not used so what SharePoint 2010 would allow me to remove has been removed. Now I have this error message that still needs to be dealt with.
[MissingFeature] Database [WSS_Content_2007] has reference(s) to a missing feature: Id = [75a0fea7-cd50-401e-af0e-782f3662a299]. The feature with Id 75a0fea7-cd50-401e-af0e-782f3662a299 is referenced in the database [WSS_Content_2007], but is not installed
on the current farm. The missing feature may cause upgrade to fail. Please install any solution which contains the feature and restart upgrade if necessary.
[MissingWebPart] WebPart class [768ec641-8c6a-1cc6-6465-185094919a93] is referenced [1] times in the database [WSS_Content_2007], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this web part. One or more web parts
are referenced in the database [WSS_Content_2007], but are not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature or solution which contains these web parts.
So, I'd like to remove the references from the database for the feature and webpart mentioned in the error. I can't seem to spot how to do that with stsadm, it reports that the feature is not installed which leads me to conclude that I just need to remove
the reference from the db. Is there a SharePoint way to do this or am I destined to remove it manually from the db myself?

  • T440s: How to enable the Windows eDrive feature?

I would like to enable the eDrive feature on my T440s to encrypt my hard drive. How can I do this?
In order to do so,I enabled "OS optimized defaults" in the bios settingsLoaded them and saved themDid a clean install of Windows 8.1 and removed all partitions during this processInstalled all Lenovo driversInstalled all Windows updatesTried to turn on bit lockerAccording to [1] "If everything is eDrive compliant you won’t be asked whether or you want to encrypt all or part of the drive". However, I am asked whether I want to encrypt all or part of the drive!! So my questions is, what is wrong? How can I enable the eDrive feature? [1] http://www.anandtech.com/show/6891/

    lax20531
This process below worked for me to enable the eDrive and configure HW-mode BitLocker.  Would you please try it and let me know if it works for you?  If you have any questions about these steps, let me know.
EDIT 1/9/2014 - these steps still may not work and should be ignored for now.
Backup your personal data, because we are getting ready to wipe the SSD to enable the eDrive function
    Create the USB Recovery Drive
    Boot the USB Recovery Drive
Select your language and keyboard layout, as prompted
    click on "Troubleshoot"
    click on "Reset your PC"
click on "Next", and the target operating system, as prompted
At the screen about "Do you want to repartition the drives on your PC?", click on "Yes, repartition the drives"  <-- IMPORTANT because eDrive is only enabled when the partitions are recreated.
Click on "Just remove my files"
    Click on "Reset"
The PC will be restored with the contents of the USB Recovery Drive.  This will take several minutes, and the PC will reboot itself.  When the process is complete, you will be at the Win8 setup screen "Region and Language", just like when you unboxed your PC and booted it for the first time.
Go through Win8 setup, connect to network, create your account, etc
    Open Device Manager
Expand the category "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers"
Double-click on "Intel 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller"
    Click on the "Driver" tab
    Click on "Update Driver"
Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click on "Standard SATA ACHI Controller" and then click on "Next"  <-- IMPORTANT since eDrive won't work with the Intel driver.  You must use the Microsoft standard driver instead.
Click on "Close", then click on "Close" again.  Reboot as prompted.
Open Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update -> Check for Updates
Download and install all available Important and Optional updates  <-- IMPORTANT because Win8 itself has some bug about BitLocker.  It is fixed in one of the updates, but I'm not sure which one.
Repeat steps 23 and 24 until no more Windows Updates are available
Open Control Panel -> System and Security -> BitLocker Drive Encryption
    Click on "Turn on BitLocker"
Save the recovery key as prompted, then click "Next".  If you saved the recovery key on a USB drive, be sure to remove the USB drive before continuing.
Click on "Continue" to run the the BitLocker system check
    Reboot as prompted
BitLocker should now be running the HW mode
To confirm it:  open a command prompt as administrator, then run "manage-bde.exe -status".  The Encryption Method should be listed as "Hardware Encryption"

  • How to replace the hard drive in a G500 notebook

I have been trying to install openSUSE 12.3 Linux on my new G500 and have been unable to do it. I think that there is a problem with the hard drive so I want to replace it. I have worked on other notebooks and they all have screws on the base that let you get to the memory and the hard drive. The G500 does not. How does it come apart?

  • How to wipe the hard drive on a screen-dead Powerbook G3?

The display on my 1998 G3 Wallstreet Powerbook recently went black and the computer made a noise that I understand is called The Chimes of Death, although the hard drive still makes whirring noises. My local and trustworthy Apple repair service assures me the Powerbook wouldn't be worth repairing even if they could get the parts for such an old machine.
Is there a way to wipe the hard drive and make my data irretrievable before disposing of the computer?
If there's no way to wipe the hard drive, I'd like to find out: (1) How to remove the hard drive. (2) The best way to destroy the hard drive or at least make it forever unreadable (can my shredder eat it?). (3) The correct way to dispose of a Powerbook that has heard the Chimes of Death. (From what the repair service says, I assume nobody would want it as a donation.)

    Turtlewiz,
I would not be so quick to pronounce it dead:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14438
I would try the suggestions in the above article. Will it boot to a CD?
As far as wiping the drive, it is easy as long as you can see a display so you can follow the steps necessary. You just open Drive Setup in the Utilities Folder on the CD > select 'zero all data' in the Initialization Options; do it a few times if concerned.
Removing the HD is relatively easy: Just lift off the keyboard and the heat sink, then remove the HD.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/3.0.0.html
Hit the HD a few times with a hammer and nobody will bother with it...it has a glass platter.
Nothing to offer on the recycling except Good Will may still take it as "non-working" since there are Mac users looking for such bargains.

to solute out this we need to see output of lspci and lsmod (or the manufacture hex code from xp also work.)
And my question is if i install only oel5 wheather the same problem will exist or not then how i can download the ethernet driver software of oel5
its depend on the vendor id of the NIC.so put your lspci output after the installation of OEL5.4.In general OEL5.4 may give/detect the NIC by its own.

  • How to stop the Play now feature?

I have scheduled a presentation and a playlist both through the play now feature of the DMM.  I can not seem to figure out how you actually stop the content from playing.  I can send something else to it via future content.  However now if I try to delete the presentation or play list I get a message saying that it cannot because it is already scheduled.  How can I go about removing these?
Also I am not a professional at creating the content for this system but my boss wants to be create some professional type content.  Is there a resource for maybe downloading more templates or even something for helping me go about creating some nice looking presentations?
    Thank you in advace!

Hi Glen, the way I have halted "play now" content is by stopping all application for the dmp.
navigate to Digital Media Players in the Digital Media Manager.  Check off the dmps that you want to halt content for. Click the dropdown under Actions, scroll to the bottom & select 'stop all application', click Go.
    hope this helps.

I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite C655 could I fix the hard drive input plug because somebody snapped it off and also the start button was removed off the board.
Could anyone let me know by email [email protected] if I can please explain how?
Also have a Toshiba U300 which is flicking screen then turns blue and switches off and on by itself.

    > I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite C655 could I fix the hard drive input plug because somebody snapped it off and also the start button was removed off the board.
Do you mean the SATA connector on the motherboard? Is it broken?
Well, I dont think its easy to fix. If something is broken on the motherboard, then mostly you will need an new motherboard or you would ask an specialist (electronics technician) for help.
    > Also have a Toshiba U300 which is flicking screen then turns blue and switches off and on by itself.
Try to clean the cooling ventilators using compressed air spray. Mostly the notebook switches OFF automatically due to higher temperature and cleaning cooling fans can help to get better cooling performance.

  • Satellite M30 Pro: how to change the optical drive?

    Hi there,
could anybody please give me a hand on changing/replacing the optical drive on my Satellite Pro M30?
Alas, my drive is a DVD-ROM/CD-RW. I have another one with the capability of burning DVD's (Super-Multi drive from Matsu****a). I just wonder how I could replace them, since it os not possible to easily slide them out?
    Thank you.
    Jan

    Hi
To remove the optical drive you need only to remove 2 screws which are placed at the bottom of the unit on the drive side. Then you can simply slide outward the drive to disconnect it from the connector on the system board.
The drive is placed in the plastic frame. So you need also this frame for a new drive.
To remove the plastic frame from the device you have to remove 4 screws.
