How to remove USB partition?

I have an 8GB flash drive which I use for my digital photo frame. I deleted all photos and reloaded more recent ones and once I placed the USB in the frame only old photos which I thought I had deleted appeared.
I then discovered that the USB has a partition that contained the older photos. I deleted these but the USB will only display photos in the one area which has very little space. How can I remove the partition or have the photo frame recognise the other much larger partition?
Please help if you can.

Hi budy,
You can change/edit the partition of USB and all other drives in Windows Disk Managment if you have Vista or Windows 7.
Here is a nice article that can help you do to this:

  • Failed boot camp install - how to remove windows partition?

    Hi There,
After a failed boot camp install, boot camp no longer sees (or can remove) a windows partition - Disk Utility can't seem to remove it and if I use:
    $ diskutil list
It shows up as partition 5 "Microsoft Reserved"
I also have a portion of free space that I can't seem to incorporate back into the main OSX partition - how do I remove the windows partition and make the drive a single OSX drive again?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers

    - New Mac Pro
    - Installing onto internal 1 TB SSD
    - 10.9.3
    - Windows 8.1

Just incase others have this issue, this wasn't caused by using Disk Utility (Disk Utility couldn't remove the partition anyway) it was caused by repeatedly trying to format the Boot Camp partition using the Windows installer when Windows refused to install.
The solution is an Apple tech note (I can no longer find it sorry) that sates that no other hard drives besides the internal HD and the Windows USB flash drive can be connected while installing windows.

  • How to remove recovery partition of HP Pavilion X2 10

HP Pavilion X2 10 comes with a 32GB drive, like many other Windows 8 tables, and only 14GB is available to users. The free space is decreases as I install and save data to the device, and quickly reached 3GB to a level that machine start reising waring.
After making recovery media, I tried to remove the recovery partition, but I could not find the way. In Windows' Disk Management, I does not show an option 'Delete Volume' for the recovery partition. The official procedures with HP Recovery Manager did not work since there is not 'Advanced options'

Does anyone know how to remove a recovery partition in Windows 8 tablet devices?

You can't remove the recovery partition because it is necessary for WIMBoot. Basically, the recovery partition has a copy of the Windows image that it uses to boot the system. This is done to save disk space on the primary partition, but doesn't seem to help much on the Pavilion X2. If you try and remove it with a third-party utility, Windows will be unable to boot because it can no longer find the necessary system files. Here's an article about WIMBoot and how it works: http://www.howtogeek.com/196416/wimboot-explained-how-windows-can-now-fit-on-a-tiny-16-gb-drive/
The only solution I've found is deleting all partitions and installing a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 from a flash drive. This will create a traditional Windows installation, without WIMBoot. Note that this will still create a recovery partition, but it will be very small (less than 500mb in my case). My Pavilion X2 had about 20 gb of free space after installation, on a 29 gb primary partition. This is without any updates installed.
The real mystery here is why the "HP Support Agent" didn't know any of this, and essentially advised us to destroy our Windows installations. HP needs to train their support agents better.

  • How to remove a partition of my hard drive

I have an old 2007 HP Pavilian DV6000 series with Windows Vista. At some point, one of my husbands friends had the bright idea to partition the hard drive and put Linux (Ubuntu) operating system on my laptop. I haven't used this laptop in a few years now because once he did that the laptop has been screwy ever since. I want to remove that OS and remove that partition. I don't have a recovery disc to do a factory reset, I've tried that and I've tried restoring to early point and nothing is working. So how can I un partition that part of the hard drive and remove that horrible OS?? Vista is still on there and I can still access Windows, but I just want my computer back to how it should be. Thanks!

  • Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port.

Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port...
Someone told me just to remove the chip in clicking it to the trash can and voilá - it would be done. But as I did so, on the screen appeared a text which let me know, that that way had been the wrong one...
I should have clicked Finder plus something.... which I do not now remember but which was then not found behind the Finder.
So please would someone be so kind and tell me, where I can find explanations for the most simple functions. The manual I got does not include a clue.
    Thank you!

First make sure that no application is using or has open any files on the disk. Then:
Click and drag the disk icon on the desktop to the trash. Wait for the system to recognize the action, and the icon should disappear from the desktop. It is then safe to remove the device.
Alternatively, you can secondary click on the disk icon, and then primary click "Eject (name of disk)". Wait for the icon to disappear off the desktop, and then it is safe to remove the drive.
Here is a detailed help document on the subject.

    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • How do I remove the partition on my hard drive?

I've got 20 GB dedicated to Windows but want to remove the partition and make the hard drive 100% Mac-use only. Any ideas on how to do that?

Use the Boot Camp Assistant in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to remove it. If you're running Mac OS X 10.4, also see this article.

Open the Boot Camp Assistant in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and use it to restore the drive to a single partition setup. If it's not there, use Pacifist to extract it from your install DVD and run the combo updater for your OS version.

Zyriab's suggestion is the best way. But if you have Terminal-phobia, use Disk Utility (diskutil's GUI counterpart). All successfully connected drives should be listed in the sidebar on the left.

  • How do you remove a partition

I created a partition using resizeVolume, and now I would like to remove it.
Is there any way to remove the partition with out reformatting the entire Volume, like you would do with disk utility?
The manual for resizeVolume kinda leads me to believe that there might be a way.
"Non-destructively resize a disk. You may increase or decrease its size.
When decreasing size, you may optionally supply a list of new partitions to create."
Or am I just misinterpreting what that means? Like does the increase volume size pertain only the the Volumes on the Disk, or could it mean that you could somehow increase it back to its original size while removing the created partition?

    Sorry, but no.

  • How to make an USB Partition Active ?

Is there any direct method available in C# to make a USB partition active other than executing diskpart commands ?

This is c++ forum, no idea about C#.
Using diskpart is just fine IMHO, it has batch mode specially for this purpose.
Note that some USB drives do not have partition table at all, and so no active partition. Diskpart will list these disks as "superfloppy".

  • Encore Mini WT7-C-100 - how to delete recovery partition

    Hi all,
I own an Encore Mini WT7-C-100 tablet with only 16GB storage.
After following all possible and existing solutions and recomendations in order to free up storage, free space on C: is limited to barely 500MB.
On the other hand, I noticed that the resovery partitiobn is almost 3GB large.
Though it seems that there is no way to remove this partition and extend C: in order to gain more disk space (3,5GB would be more than enough for me). Right clicking on this partition in Disk Management displays no avaliable actions (except "Help").
Please notice that I have already created a copy of the recovery partion on a USB drive (various posts in various forums indicated that Windows, after finishing with the copy on the USB, would propose for deleting the recovery parition but not such thing happened).
Please advice how to delete the recovery partition or for other actions in order to free up disk space in C:

Try to start the recovery using the HDD recovery procedure.
If you want to access the boot menu on please press and hold the "Vol+" button and turn on the device pressing power button.
After a few seconds the boot option menu will appear.
Then select "HDD Recovery" and the rest of the procedure is similar to the Windows 8 recovery process you can find here:

If this doesn’t help, try to recover the Toshiba WT8 / Encore tablet from a created recovery media

  • How much should I partition for Time Machine/Backup?

    Hi all,
I upgraded my PB G4 HD to a 160GB recently and have just purchased a 1TB External HD. How much should I partition in the external to be used for Time Machine backup purposes of my internal HD? Will the same size suffice, or should I allocate more?
Also, I was thinking of formatting the drive so that it's both Windows and OS X friendly, but that means formatting it to MS-DOS something (I was just reading about it in another thread), will that cause any issues for the partition for Time Machine that I created? Thanks.

That's not practical. If you want to use the hard drive on a Windows machin while still being useful for Time Machine you should use MacDrive.

I would make the partition at least twice the size of the internal drive. Preferably, you would want 50 GB for a Leopard install that includes just the base operating system so you can boot off the 50 GB to recover your Time Machine data if your Leopard installer disc ever becomes unusable.
Also since you have a Powerbook, your 1 TB hard drive should be Firewire. USB will not boot Powerbooks. If it is USB only, you can remove the external hard drive case and replace it with one compatible with the drive inside that case from http://www.macsales.com/ that has Firewire.
