How to rename app folders

Is it possible to rename app folders?

Place your finger on a folder and wait for it to wiggle... lift up... tap on the folder again... now you can rename the folder .

  • How to delete App folders

I cloud drive is showing various app folders - I have deleted the app but how do I delete the folder from iCLoud drive?

    Same issue here.
I installed iMovie for iOS because I thought it would enable me to export slow-mo videos with the correct frame rate, but it didn't. So I deinstalled it again, and now I'm stuck with an empty iMovie folder in my iCloud drive that can not be deleted, not even after removing iMovie from the iCloud backup list in the settings. The iMovie folder only disappeared for a moment after I did that, but soon bounced back.
Not even being able to remove a folder doesn't invite me to switch from Google Drive to iCloud Drive yet.

  • How are iPad Apps folders structured?

    Hi,
I accessed the iPad's file system with an iOS file browser and wondered how the Apps folders are structured.
all Apps have a similar file structure:
a folder with a .app ending named after the App itself - for example "Twitter.app" or "FindMyiPhone.app".
    a Library folder.
    a folder called tmp.
    a folder called Documents
what is the distinctive function of each of these folders?
do I assume correctly that all files that contain user data - such as savegames, preferences, personalization - are stored under Documents? does that mean that backing up the Documents folder will preserve all data that cannot be redownloaded and reinstalled from the App Store?
    best, Ian

    thanks for the clarification.
is it correct that all user data - by which I mean data that is relevant for a backup and cannot be restored by redownloading and reinstalling an app from the App Store - is stored in the Documents folder?
do I assume correctly that temporary files and cached data is stored in the tmp folder while the .app as well as the Library folder contain data that can be restored by redownloading and reinstalling an app from the App Store?

  • How come my app folders bunched up on top of each other?

I opened my (new version) iPad and swiped from my opening screen over to my second screen and found every one of my app folders were in the top left corner sitting on top of one another all locked up. The event was completely random. I had to reboot the iPad to get it unstuck. Has anyone else seen this happen?
    John

I have read about it happening to other users. I sure don't think it's anything to worry about if rebooting returned the screen to normal. Rebooting resets the system memory, and something probably just went a little whacky - maybe an app conflict, an app crash, or something like that.
If it is a one time occurrence, I wouldn't sweat it.

  • How to create app folders

How can I group my apps into folders?

Press on an app until they all wiggle, then tap and drag an app onto another app and it will create a folder that you can rename. You can have 12 apps in each folder. Tap the home button when you are done.

  • How to sync apps folders from iPhone to iPad?

I would like to recreate the same folders for my 188 apps on my new iPad mini as they are on my iPhone 4. Doing it manually would be very long and I don't know if after all this work, the next sync will wipe out the folders (as the first sync did).

    Hi Doc,
I have just been on the phone to Apple for over 2 hours ! Both devices were already on IMAP . It turned out that one particular folder was a rogue and did not sync between desktop, iPhone and iPad. I created a new folder dragged every email into it from my desk top , deleted the original folder and all emails in that folder are now synched. Even Apple was baffled but the problem is now resolved so thank you for your assistance .
    Regards,
    Salmon Man

How do you create folders in mail app? Is there a way in 3GS IOS 5?

This is very disappointing, and i find it hard to believe that Apple would do this intentionally. It worked on previous versions of email application. Apple please don't dishonor the image of Steve Jobs this way. Fix this right away. I can't think of anything more basic than being able to organize the email that you download into folders. This absolutely ***** ... What a stinker.....
I can't think of anything more idiotic than invoking the memory of Jobs here. Are you truly unaware that the iPad and iOS is pretty much exactly the way he wanted it to be, just like about everything else Apple?
As to your claim of "previous email applications", certainly none in iOS ever did that, and the only folders you can create and manipulate in POP accounts are those local to only that single machine or platform, not particularly helpful or desirable in today's environments.

How do I create folders for variuos apps i.e health, news, sports etc.

Tap and hold down on an app con until it begins to "wiggle", then drag one app icon on top of another app icon to create the folder. Move as many apps as you like into that folder. When you are done, tap the home button and the apps will stop wiggling.
You can also name the folder whatever you want to in the white text field that will pop up when the folder is created.

How does one add folders to the E-mail App?

Select your email under Account, tap Edit at the top then New Mailbox at the bottom. This will only work if you have an IMAP email account.

  • How to move Apps and or Folders between screens

I have three pages of Apps but pages 2 & 3 have only a few. How do I move the Apps & Folders on page 2 & 3 to page two?

I also talked to Apple Support. They told me to move a jiggling folder to the left edge. At first it didn't seem to work, but they said to hold it there. If you move it too far left, it will just bounce back. If you drag it to the left edge so half the folder is obscured and the other half is visible, and then HOLD it there for 3-4 seconds, it will move it to the next page. Good!

  • Using Office 365 - how to close sub folders in iPhone-mail app.

using Office 365 - how to close sub folders in iPhone-mail app.

Isn't HotMail still POP3 mail only (i.e. no IMAP support)?  If that is still the case, then your device is working correctly.  The folders you made are a feature of the web tool for hotmail, and are not part of the POP3 supported email protocol.  Only IMAP mail supports on-server mail subfolders, and those can be accessed from the iPhone mail client.  But POP3 is limited to the inbox solely, as that is literally the only folder that sits on the mail server (your others are on Microsofts web server and supported via the web mail tool).

  • Server.app 3.2.1 how to rename Mac and iOS devices via MDM

Does anybody know how to rename Mac or iOS device in Profile Manager 3.2.1?
As I know we didn't have tools in Server.app before 3.2.1 but this functionality announced in 3.2.1 changelog.
I installed 10.9.5 and Server.app 3.2.1 in my lab and i can't find how to rename device.
I would be grateful if somebody help me with that question.

    Thank you.
You are completely right and my test lab included only iOS 8 devices.
What I missed - the "rename" functionality presents only for supervised devices.
When my iPhone was supervised and enrolled to Profile Manager with Apple Configurator I found rename option under the gear/action menu.

  • Is anyone else wasting a lot of his or her life constantly rearranging apps & app folders, trying to figure out how to organize them, and what to call each app folder?

Because I'm constantly downloading & deleting new apps; struggling to figure out what the app folders should be called, where they should they be placed, and how to find them in the mess of apps & app folders; and because I don't know what it is about the design that has created this problem; I don't know what to do about it & I'm confused.
I'm really curious about how small or big of a problem this is, if at all. Is anyone else wasting a lot of precious time which could be used for important things? Plus, is Apple trying to fix the problem like I asked them to? Thanks.

I didn't mean that it's Apple's fault. Jeez, you've mis-interpreted my message, and already you're judging me. I've always had this immediate judgmental reaction & organizational problem. Plus, I have many disabilities like autism.
What I meant was that certain people like me have trouble with organization; taking notes; understanding how technology, the world, real life, people, etc work; etc(especially since nobody ever taught me how to be organized).
So sorry if I seem to be the only one who's having trouble understanding how to best use app folders. Sorry about that, I'm having a messed-up, bad day today.
Anyways, it's even harder because there is/are no universal standard methods/controls/commonality/design/etc across many different companies/products/etc when it comes to technology).
I'm used to using home computers where you can categorize emails, folders, software, etc by name/type/date/etc.
I can't help it if I wasn't taught many of the things most people knew well before I did. I had to choose between academic classes/school/etc and small easy classes.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that Apple isn't to blame; but the design can be confusing to some people & it can help aid the person into creating this problem themselves.
Plus, it increases the likelihood & possibility of the person developing this problem while using the iPad based on many different factors. So, Apple & their design are not responsible, but the design doesn't help the situation for some people.

  • How to rename folders from english to chinese with trackpad?

So I have an iMac and I'm trying to rename some folders from english to traditional chinese. I have the trackpad and I know how to pull up the language input and everything. Sometimes I can rename folders to chinese and sometimes I can't. Any way to fix this?

The point is to find out whether your problem is connected only to the handwriting IM or to Chinese in general.  So could you perhaps try using the pinyin or other keyboard IM and see if the same problem exists or not?
