How to rename long bookmark in iOS?

How can I rename long bookmark in iOS? There's no possibility to place the cursor to the beginning of a longer URL bookmark.

If you touch anywhere in the name or URL of a long bookmark you can drag the cursor to the left. When you get to the left of the text field the text will begin scrolling until the beginning is reached.

    The only way is to restore from a useful backup, if you have one.
    If you sync the iPad to iTunes and use Time Machine regularly, you would likely have the appropriate backup to restore from. In that case:
    Restore the iPad backup set from Time Machine from a date before you overwrote the bookmarks. The location of the backup is ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ (you can get to it by pressing Cmd+Shift+G in the Finder and entering this path).
    Connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from the backup.
    If you use iCloud Backup, then you can restore from iCloud and choose which date's backup you'd like to restore from. You can check if you're using iCloud Backup by opening the Settings app on the iPad, then going to the iCloud submenu and looking at the status right below "Storage & Backup", where it would say "iCloud Backup is off." (or "iCloud Backup is on.", as the case may be).
    In any case, keep in mind that restoring from a backup means you lose all application data changes after the date of the backup.

    My iPhone 5s can no longer use Internet on a wifi network. I've reset everything, how can I roll back to iOS 7?
    i Was considerinf buying a macbook pro, but am reconsidering spending such an amount of money on a company that can screw up such a basic function. I mean you can have your iOS 8 back if this is what it means, I don't want to use your health Kit app.

    You cannot 'roll back' your iOS.  That's never been supported or allowed by Apple (with only one exception).
    Use this article: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple
    It's not the iOS.  It may be a setting on your iPhone or the wi-fi network, or a hardware issue.  But it's not the iOS.  If it was, then everyone's iPhone 5S using the same iOS would not be working, and that's not the case.

    A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
    If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples). FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

    the keyboard shortcut that turns an exclamation mark into an apostrophe no longer works in iOS 6. How can I restore that shortcut?

    Well, I for one really hate when they change this stuff.  They get us used to doing it one way for years and then they change it.  Why?  Really, seriously, truly......WHY?
    In fact, I originally noticed it had changed and then when I'd hit it, I thought it required me to touch both so I ended up with an apostrophe but then also a letter "l".  I just left commas everywhere I went for a while cuz it ticked me off so bad I just rebelled.
    In ios5 it was actually faster because it's the same move and time involved, but without the extra "slide".  So, in essence, Apple went backwards.
    Nice, eh?

  • How to rename bookmarks

    I'm simply trying to rename a bookmark via javascript, and keep running into the notallowederror: security settings... Previously, when I ran into this problem, I could avoid it by certifying the document, which would allow the javascript to run as privileged.  However, renaming bookmarks is apparently quite a sinister activity, and needs extra security??  I made folder level scripts:
    var renameBook = app.trustedFunction(
      function(thisPage)
        app.beginPriv();
        var books = this.bookmarkRoot.children;
        for (var i = 0; i < books.length; i++) {
          var vNotes;
          if (books[i].name == "Visit Notes") {
            vNotes = books[i].children;
            for (var j = 0; j < vNotes.length; j++) {
              if (vNotes[j].name == thisPage)
                vNotes[j].name = vNotes[j].name + "-signed: " + new Date();
        app.endPriv();
    and call that from my document-level script, but I get the same problem...  what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the response.  No, I'm not trying to use it in Reader.  I'm working exclusively in Acrobat.  But since you brought it up, what you're saying is that even if I got this working in Acrobat and saved it as Reader Enhanced, it wouldn't be able to change the name of the bookmark using Reader?
    When I use either the trusted function (in the folder level script) or try to change the bookmark name directly in my local scripts, I get:
    NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    Preferences:
    Javascript:
    enable acrobat javascript "On"
    enable menu items javascript execution privileges "On"
    enable global object security policy "Off" (although I've tried it both ways)
    Security (Enhanced):
    enable enhanced security "Off" (tried it both ways)
    I noticed that I could make it work correctly through a menuitem, but that I want this to be affected when I sign a digital signature.  Perhaps there's a workaround on this using the menuitem (perhaps make a hidden menuitem, and execute that? I'm not quite sure how to make that work, but maybe that's a possibility).  I'd prefer to make this work the way it seems like it's supposed to...  Thanks again.

  • Server.app 3.2.1 how to rename Mac and iOS devices via MDM

    Does anybody know how to rename Mac or iOS device in Profile Manager 3.2.1?
    As I know we didn't have tools in Server.app before 3.2.1 but this functionality announced in 3.2.1 changelog.
    I installed 10.9.5 and Server.app 3.2.1 in my lab and i can't find how to rename device.
    I would be grateful if somebody help me with that question.

    Thank you.
    You are completely right and my test lab included only iOS 8 devices.
    What I missed - the "rename" functionality presents only for supervised devices.
    When my iPhone was supervised and enrolled to Profile Manager with Apple Configurator I found rename option under the gear/action menu.

    My bookmarks are titled: Unsorted Bookmarks. I want to rename this bookmark folder but cannot.

    You cannot remake the "Unsorted Bookmarks", instead create a folder under Unsorted Bookmarks.
    Right click on the "Unsorted Bookmarks" > New Folder
    *Move your Bookmarks to the specific folder.

  • How do I export bookmarks from my ipod to my pc?

    Hi there,
    I have a new laptop (Samsung N120 notebook) and am trying to upload my bookmarks from my iPhone 3GS. I have tried using iTunes and have downloaded v.10.5.3. I have just uploaded IOS 5 onto my iPhone so I should be ready to go.
    I've signed up to iCloud but don't know how to export the bookmarks from my Safari on my iPhone.
    On iTunes under the info tab the only mention of bookmarks is 'Your bookmarks are being synced with your iPhone over the air from iCloud. Over the air settings can be changed on your iPhone' but nothing appears to have happened.
    Would appreciate any wisdom/advice people might have on the topic. Thanks!

  • How to find all bookmarked PDF documents in Preview in Mavericks?

    Hi there,
      the problem is that before upgrading to Mavericks I could view all my bookmarked PDF documents just via menu bar in Preview, but now in Mavericks I have no idea how to manage this bookmarked documents - I can see bookmarks only after opening these PDF files which have been bookmarked. Just imagine that you have thousands of documents of which only a couple have been bookmarked for later reading - as I can see the only way to find these documents in Maverick is to open documents one by one and see whether they have bookmarks or not... Is there any way to bypass this painful procedure?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Alex

    I tried this and it works as you describe, but not all Hypercard documents appear to have the same content type, as described by Terminal.
    The first Hypercard stack I tried came up with the content type:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4ge8xe6u
    The search only found the one result with this type (the same stack).
    Then I tried using the Hypercard "Home" stack (a pretty central stack to Hypercard's functioning), and it had a content type:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4gk8zgzcbmq
    (note the type is longer with a different ending; only the first 14 characters are identical to the first stack).
    This search found 317 items, which is likely most of my Hypercard documents, so this is some progress.
    Unfortunately I know that since the first stack I tried had a different content type, there may be other Hypercard stacks on my hard drive with yet a different content type, not caught by these searches.
    I then tried a wildcard, thinking that if only the first 14 characters of the content type are identical, I focus my search on those characters only, using asterisk as a wildcard at the end. So I searched for:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4g*
    The result was 526 hits, including many documents that are not Hypercard. So this doesn't help.
    It appears that the content type is not exactly specific to a the File Type or Creator Code, so while I can find many of a particular document, this method cannot find all of one type of document.
    I tried searching using raw query by the Terminal-reported File Type Code (kMDItemFSTypeCode= "STAK"), but this revealed no items.
    Perhaps I should suggest this to Apple as a bug fix for Leopard, to restore the ability to search by Type Code or Creator Code as a choice in the OS Find service? I know these codes are no longer relied on as much as they used to be, since now the OS uses extension as much as anything else, but there is lots of older software that still run in Leopard that use Type and Creator codes. And Apple still recommends registering the creator code of any new software.
    Thank you!

  • Unable to rename individual bookmarks

    For a month or longer now, I have been unable to rename individual bookmarks. I used to be able to do this so that I could shorten long website titles. But I have not been able to do so recently. Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thank you both for the suggestions. My apologies for not explaining the process. I have tried renaming individual bookmarks both by opening "Show All Bookmarks," locating the specific bookmark, and entering the desired name under "Name" (which is located right above "Location"). I have also, as suggested above, sought to rename the bookmark through the window that opens when the Bookmark star is clicked.
    I just added a new folder to my bookmarks, and the problem applies to the folder as well. In fact, Firefox seemed to freeze after I added the folder when I tried to assign it a name. I restarted Firefox, the new folder was still there, and I still was unable to rename it from "New Folder."
    Thank you for trying to help!
