How to rename weblogic Domain?

Hi,
We have created new weblogic domain and found a typo exists in the current name, I wonder if there is a way to rename the domin?
Please treat as priority.
Thank you,

I don't think there is an automated procedure for that.
probably the safest way is to create a new domain - in any case you should have scripted the creation of all the resources, so it should be fairly easy.
Otherwise, export a domain template and use it to create a new domain should also work.
Changing manually the files (domain name should be hardcoded in config.xml and some .sh files) could be problematic for the encryption of passwords, I am afraid that your SerializedSystemIni.dat might not work any more.

  • How to upgrade weblogic domain from 10.3.2 to 10.3.6, with em modules

    I have upgraded the 10.3.2 Weblogic domain to 10.3.6 Weblogic domain, 10.3.2 domain contains the EM, JRF WL Add-on services. After upgrade EM, JRF services loading was failed. setDomainEnv.sh settings were overwritten. Domain upgrade will support FMW services upgrade, setdomainEnv configurations recovery or we need to update the FMW services path, copy the custom configurations from old setDomainEnv.sh to new setDomainEnv.sh

    Hi,
    You need to upgrade FMW stack too apart from WLS then only those libraries will active or else it will have issues with libraries supported versions.

  • How to create weblogic domains

    I have some applications running on different weblogic domains. These domains are Administration Server and have different port number.
    I can create managed servers and deploy these applications on these domains.
    Which solution is better?

    It would be a good idea to use a single Admin server and use different managed server under clusters on different machines using vertical clustering and the deploy your applications on those managed servers providing higher availability and scalability..

    in WLS 6.1 you only have to copy the whole directory of "mydomain" to
    "NEWdomain" or something else. Then edit the scripts if neccessarry and
    everything works fine.

  • How does OEM monitor the weblogic domain

    Hi Guys,
    I would like to know how does the OEM monitor the weblogic domain, i.e where does the em agent (in the target host) check to determine if the weblogic domain is up or down ?
    - Does OEM fetch data regarding managed server from admin server ?
    - Does managed servers show up in OEM if the admin server console is down but the managed server is up ? (i think it does show up, even if the admin is down but then how/where does it get to know the status)
    - Is there any settings in the weblogic to be set ?
    - Does the behavior of weblogic EM console and the OEM grid console are same ?
    Basically want to understand, how and what all needs to check when the domain is showing down in OEM (when domain is up and running in weblogic console and the agent is perfectly fine)
    Similarly for the Database how does it check the status "up or down"
    - does it try to make a connection to the db ?
    - if so where do we give the details for the db connection user and password ?
    Please help me in understanding these.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Harish

    If the targets are actually up and showing down in OEM console , so it means something wrong with the configuration .
    Can you check the error message in the console , why it is down ? Or you can also check agent logs on the target server.
    To monitor the weblogic , it uses username used during the configuration.
    Please check the picture at below link :
    Discovering Middleware Targets
    Enter the WebLogic Administration Server user name and password.If you want to discover the target only for monitoring purposes, then it is sufficient to provide a user name that has a monitoring role. If you want to monitor the target and also perform start/stop operations, then ensure that you provide a user name that has either an operator role or an administrator role.Note: There is the potential of account locking issues if you enter the default WebLogic user name, and the account password is changed without updating the Enterprise Manager monitoring credentials for the Domain and Farm.
    Thanks

  • How to install Enterprise Manager to JDeveloper integrated Weblogic domain

    I have installed JDeveloper 11g and as you know it also installs an embedded Weblogic and creates a Weblogic domain. This domain by default has the console application but does not have the em application. How can I add em to my integrated Weblogic?

    Sturla,
    I can give you the quick steps for installing EM into the WLS container integrated with JDev:
    1). Download from OTN two pieces of software from the Fusion Middleware 11g (use the "For Deployment" software, click "See All"): the Application Development Runtime, and (under Additional Required Software) the Repository Creation Utility (RCU).
    2). Unzip the RCU and run bin/rcu.bat or bin/rcu (windows/*nix). Create the MDS repository in an Oracle DB using this utility.
    3). Install the application development runtime into the same home you installed JDeveloper.
    4). Run the configuration wizard - on Windows its in the start menu / Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.1.0 / Weblogic Server 11gR1 / Tools. Find it yourself on *nix ;)
    5). Choose to extend a domain
    6). Pick your DefaultDomain directory for the integrated WLS
    7). Tick the checkbox to add enterprise manager
    8). Supply the database connection information for the DB in which you created the repository in step 2.
    Ta-da!
    The EM will be accessible via http://hostname:7001/em, username/password=weblogic/weblogic1. I will caution you about generically installing into the integrated domain - it makes your WLS take noticeably longer to start up...
    Best,
    John

  • How to config weblogic 10.3.3 server log and domain log?

    I need to change the default logging configuration for both server log and the domain log. The server logging configuration (such as limiting the number of retained log files) can be updated in the Admin console. Howerver there are 100 domains running in a weblogic instance, can this be accomplished by updating a configuration file for each domain instead of going through the web interface?
    Also, how can I change the domain log configuration? Is there a configuration file or a command line argument for this?
    Thanks,
    Hong

    Hi Hong,
    Based on your requirement we have just created a script for you which would full fill your requirement.
    Note: Please the below properties files and the WLST script in the same same location
    "*domain.properties*"
    domain.count=2
    rotationType=bySize
    numberOfFilesLimited=yes
    fileMinSize=3000
    rotateLogOnStartup=yes

  • Migrating multiple domains with same name - how? Rename? Migrate through temporary domain?

    Hi,
    we have acquired another company, and they have multiple, separate domains with the same name (every site has a domain with NetBIOS name "COMPANY" and DNS name "company.local"). Now we want to migrate all these domains into ours using
    ADMT.
    Unfortunately, we did not manage to migrate one of these domains completely, so the trust must remain established for some time. But we have to continue with the second domain - which normally would require a trust, but of course we can't establish a trust
    to two domains with the same name at the same time.
    I found two potential solutions for the dilemma, but I'm not sure if both are reasonable:
    1) Rename the domain with RENDOM.EXE to COMPANY2 and company2.local and then migrate with ADMT
    2) Migrate COMPANY to a temporary domain such as COMPANYTEMP and then migrate from COMPANYTEMP to our domain
    Given that there are roughly 100 users, 2 domain controllers and 8 other servers, what would be the better approach? Is option 2 possible at all, so would I be able to use the sidHistory attribute migrated from the original COMPANY domain in our domain at
    all?
    There is also an Exchange 2007 server, which seems to make option 1 impossible unless we find another way to migrate it (like, export all mailboxes to PST before migration) ...

    Ok, that's what I expected. Still, I have servers in the old domain, so if I do these steps:
    first create a new temporary domain i.e COMPANYTEMP and
    create trust between COMPANYTEMP -
    COMPANY(Right)
    then do the migration with sidHistory from COMPANY(right) --> COMPANYTEMP ,
    disconnect the domain COMPANY(right) ,
    users will lose connectivity to any servers in the domain. I understand that it does not work with all domains connected? Of course I can't make OURCOMPANY's domain controllers see the DCs of COMPANY (right) in DNS (though I could achieve it the other way
    round).
    My original plan was:
    first create a new temporary domain i.e COMPANYTEMP and
    create trust between COMPANYTEMP -
    COMPANY(Right)
    then do the migration with sidHistory from COMPANY(right) --> COMPANYTEMP ,
    create trust between OURDOMAIN and COMPANYTEMP
    then do the migration with sidHistory from
    COMPANYTEMP --> OURDOMAIN,
    Migrate users
    Migrate computers
    Migrate servers
    remove trusts and old domain
    But I see that this will not work out, right? So, my only option would be:
    first create a new temporary domain i.e COMPANYTEMP and
    create trust between COMPANYTEMP -
    COMPANY(Right)
    then do the migration with sidHistory from COMPANY(right) --> COMPANYTEMP ,
    Migrate computers and servers to COMPANYTEMP
    Install new Exchange server in COMPANYTEMP
    migrate mailboxes to COMPANYTEMP
    disconnect / abandon COMPANY(right)
    create trust between OURDOMAIN and COMPANYTEMP
    then do the migration with sidHistory from COMPANYTEMP
    --> OURDOMAIN,
    Migrate users
    Migrate computers
    Migrate servers
    Migrate mailboxes
    remove trusts and old domain
    And to minimize user impact, all this would have to be done in one go (over night), which is hardly possible .........................

  • Not sure how to configure Weblogic with log4j.xml

    I tried something VERY similar to this. I wasn't sure where to put this code below. I figured in a Servlet environment, it should probably go in a Listener. I found an existing class inside of Spring that does exactly that: org.springframework.web.util.Log4jConfigListener
    I put my log4j configuration file into an entry in the classpath and configured web.xml as follows:
    <!-- Spring log4j parameters -->
            <context-param>
                <param-name>log4jConfigLocation</param-name>
                <param-value>classpath:gov/pa/dep/formu/resources/log4j.properties</param-value>
            </context-param>
            <context-param>
                <param-name>log4jRefreshInterval</param-name>
                <param-value>30000</param-value>
            </context-param>
            <!-- Spring Log4j config listener -->
         <listener>
              <listener-class>org.springframework.web.util.Log4jConfigListener</listener-class>
         </listener>The server admin placed the actual log4j.properties file into an AppFileOverrides folder instead of under WEB-INF\classes. I don't know if this caused the problem or not. Since I also was using the DailyRollingFileAppender and running into problems LOSING my log entries each day because he file didn't get renamed, I followed Metalink BUG# 8459807, and used the datedFileAppender available at http://minaret.biz/tips/datedFileAppender.html.
    When the application started, the server log showed that log4j was being configured but none of my logging statements were going into the logs. It wasn't until the server admin placed a copy of log4j.properties (a different log4j.properties with a rolling file appender) that the log statements started going into the file that was configured based on web.xml.
    Surely, things can't be this difficult with log4j, and commons logging under WebLogic.
    All I want is APPLICATION LEVEL LOGS that are specific to the day.
    Can someone else elaborate on how they got this working?
    thanks a bunch,
    Eric

    Hi,
    The configuration wizard (config.sh) lets you create a WebLogic Domain, however and depending on others "Oracle Middleware" products installed on the same "Oracle Home" (directory where weblogic has been installed) the configuration wizard allows you create the new weblogic domain to support the others middleware products such as WebCenter.
    When I say support It means that Configuration Wizard allows you to create the weblogic resources like JDBC connections, JMS services, and deploys all applications that integrates another product such as WebCenter.
    I suggest create your domain with support for WebCenter and then from Admin Console create the JDBC resource to connect to other database such as JD Edwards database.
    I hope this help.

    Weblogic 12C (12.1.2 to be precise), currently does not support console mode Domain creation. It supports only GUI mode and Silent mode.
    Possible solution to create a 12.1.2  Weblogic domain fully qualified enough to deploy ADF Applications :
    1. Install Xming, and enable X11 forwarding on Putty
    2. Silent Mode installation: The Configuration wizard. ./config.sh -mode=silent  -silent_script=xyz . Yes, it needs a silent script, not silent.xml. I did not try this way and instead resorted to WLST.  Still there are not enough blogs that clearly tell you how to install domain based on JRF template. I stumbled upon a similar OTN forum post.
    Here is the bunch of WLST commands if anyone is interested

    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi Roshni,
    I'm not familiar with this error....seems like issue with configuration of the machine?
    Some questions.
    1. Is there an SR already filed on this that I could look at to get more details?
    2. Which version of EM 12c are you using?
    3. Which version of WLS are you trying to clone...looks like 10.3.5? Does it have any FMW components deployed to it...looks like perhaps SOA by the name of the directory?
    4. Are you trying to clone from components saved in the software library or from a reference installation?
    5. Are you trying to clone the Middleware Home with binaries as well as domain configuration? Or are you just trying to clone domain configuration?
    Once I get more details, I will look into and get back to you.
    Thanks,
    Nicole
