How to repair broken delete key on wireless keyboard?

My wireless keyboard has a stuck delete key that will not come back up ( releasing the key). I have taken it off but am not sure if there should be a spring or if the 2 clips under key are in the wrong position when placed onto the key's slot. Any one familiar with keyboards?

You can forward delete by pressing down the Fn (Function) key and then afterwards (while holding down the Fn key) pressing the Backspace key. Apple does not include a dedicated Delete key because for most applications on Mac OS X, the backspace key does what a dedicated Delete key would usually do; for example, in the Pages application, deleting a table or an image in a document.

I've just been setting up a new Wireless Keyboard for a client using a MacBook with Tiger - on which the Fn+Delete combination works - and have found that it doesn't work on her Wireless Keyboard like everyone says it should! It just gives an error beep. Help!

Holy crap, this fixes the issue. At least temporarily it has. I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along. I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago. Thank you, tbirdvet. You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

The simplest way is to remove old links and insert new ones via the link field in your properties panel.

Plus and minus keys on wireless keyboard?

hi there everyone. i've got a new aluminum wireless keyboard and i love it to bits. gorgeous bit of design and elegance. on the previous apple keyboard however there was a couple of handy keys next to the numeric pad for 'plus' and 'minus'. Does anyone know how i can find these on the wireless keyboard? these were particularly handy when hit with the 'command' key to increase or decrease the size of text in safari.

As far as I know you don't. Certainly not to a PC. This would require Bluetooth connectivity, and while iPad has bluetooth, it is intended to connect bluetooth speakers, headphone and keyboards. There are certainly many bluetooth keyboards you can get for your iPad. I personally like the Zagg Bluetooth Keyboard for my iPad.

If you have more than one keyboard active, you may be using a different one than you want. Use the "globe" key to make sure your virtual keyboard is set to Japanese Romaji or Japanese Kana. Which one do you use?
On the hardware keyboard, use apple/command plus space to switch between different keyboard layouts which may be active.

How to trap the Delete Key..

I have implemented key handler for a text area and I want to do something when the delete key is pressed, but somehow the delete key press event is never trapped.
Any ideas?? Here is the code:

Why does the delete key on the keyboard go backward? How can I make it go the other way?

I'm used to a PC keyboard that enables me to delete characters from where my cursor it to the next space to the right. The keyboard I have with my Mac, alas, is frustrating for me to use because it goes backwards from what I am used to. Is there a fix to this? My PC keyboard has a backspace button in addition to the delete button, so it is very straightforward for me that way.

The delete key, if the cursor is placed mid sentence, will remove letters etc forwards from that cursor point. If you are deleting from the end of a sentence, the backward facing long arrow above the return key will delete backwards from that point.
For groups of letters or sentences, highlight them and press delete.
It is one of those situations where you should learn the new approach because the rest of the system is geared to it.

Keys on wireless keyboard not functioning

I've just returned from a one-week trip to discover that a few of the keys on my Apple Wireless Keyboard are no longer functioning. These include the all-important DELETE key and also the double apostrophe key, though the comma key still works (comma key + SHIFT = double apostrophe).
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I'm hoping it doesn't mean my keyboard is shot for good.

Is there any way to get function keys on wireless keyboard to function like they do on a PC for the iPad?

I need function keys for the warehousing system I run for work.
I am logged on via VPN and Pocketcloud app in a "PC like" desktop.
The program is E-term by Eclipse.
Hoping to be able to use wireless keyboard to do this.
No luck so far.

Thanks for your efforts in confirming my results. I'd prefer not to use any activex or .net containers, since this will make the code extremely coupled to a specific platform. If I can find a way to do this, using window handles or something, via WinAPI that would be preferable, because I could use a conditional disable structure to comment out the code on non-windows machines.
If anyone has any ideas about how to receive these events, using window handles and messaging, that would be great.

I just purchased an HP wireless keyboard for my HP Touchpad. I cannot figure out how to work the arrow keys.....is there a user manual I can find online about navigating my keyboard? Thanks so much for your help.

Reassigning keys on wireless keyboard

I've recently acquired an iMac with a wireless keyboard, I'm aware that some of the function keys can be reassigned or 'inverted' so the function swaps when pressing the 'fn' key.
What I'm interested in is making specific changes, for instance 'Dashboard' is assigned to 'F4' and 'fn+F12' - I'd like to assign something else to fn+F12' - or reassign the 'eject' key as '(forward) delete' (Eject could then be used with the 'fn' key. (I use forward delete far more often than eject!)
It's not a major issue, but thought I'd pose the question.

Keys on wireless keyboard not working

Finally got my wireless keyboard to pair. However the only keys that work are some of the function keys - nothing else works.
imac with OS X 10.9.1 ---- have zaped PRAM etc - done a hard re-start - changed batteries -- all to to avail. Took keyboard back to store where it worked fine on their computer. Can't figure out how to get tech support - apple makes it as difficult as they can to get any support. Keyboard is brand new.
Incidently the only way I have been able to 'pair' is by going to Bluetooth in preferences rather than 'Keyboard'. If I try the 'Keyboard' route it cant find the keyboard. But if I go to 'Bluetooth' in preferences it will show as connected which it obviously is because some of the function keys work - but nothing else.
Would appreciate any ideas.

I found the problem.
'Mouse Keys' was enabled. On my computer System Preference>View>Accessibility>Mouse & Trackpad.
Took me 21/2 hrs to figure this out. Should be easier to find these solutions.
