    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • How to repair iphoto library

How do I repair / rebuild my iPhoto library?  I was having problem importing any picture into my original iphoto library, so I built a new library and was able to import new pictures into it.  Now I'm trying to find out how to switch back to the old library and repair it so that I can import pictures into it.  I was also having problems in the original library when I was viewing or editting any picute.  The pictures would appear as blank black picture frames.  I could see the photo when in preview mode (while looking at all photos), but when I double clicked into one then it would show as a black background (no picture).  Any help is greatly needed and appreciated.
    Thanks!!!

    To choose betwee libraries:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    To rebuild:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Black Screen issue:
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • HT1452 How to repair IPHOTO. My IPHOTO is dark, it doesn't download any pictures.

How can i repair my IPhoto. Its dark. it doesn't download any photos

If you are using Time Machine or Spotlight is indexing, turn both off first.  Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Time Machine and Spotlight control both.  To turn off Spotlight, drag the drive used for Time Machine if you are using it.
Try to locate the largest iPhoto Library folder in terms of size with Find Any File.  Make note of the path, and quit and reopen iPhoto holding the command and option keys.    It will ask you to locate your iPhoto library, which is the xml file inside the folder you had located.  Navigate there and let it rebuild.  Note, if you are using Time Machine and the only larger folder is on Time Machine, recover it first to your main drive, and then map iPhoto to the location on the main drive.
Note: No MacBook Air can run 10.0.x, and you posted to the 10.6 forum.  Please edit your profile with what you actually are running.

  • Does anyone know how to repair IPHOTO when you get the aperture needs upgrading error?

I just had my MACBook Pro repaired at the Genius Bar and I am still aving issues with IPHOTO.  When I try to open the application I get an error that states I need to upgrade to Aperature 3.3.  I have never had this.  They installed OS X Mavericks.  Could this be why I am getting this error?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How to repair iPhoto

Just keeps bombing. no idea where to start
    Macbook air
    sys 10.8

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

  • I have iPhoto 11, 9.4.1 installed. When my library was upgraded, I got a message the photos couldn't be imported and I need to repair iPhoto permissions. How do I do that? My photos are there, but I can no longer drag them to the photo stream.

I have iPhoto 11, version 9.4.1 installed. When my library upgraded, I got a message that the photos couldn't be inported and I need to repair iPhoto permissions. How do I do that? My photos are there, but I can no oonger drag them to the photo stream.

Disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's preferences and then go back and reenable it. See if that will jump start the process.  If that doesn't help try this:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto check its preferences to meka sure all is as you expect and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • How to resolve iPhoto 9.4.1 to 9.4.2 Update Error 20

How to resolve iPhoto 9.4.1 to 9.4.2 Update Error 20  Signing In Mac Apple store account after entering password buffers for awhile then error occurs retry repeatedly. Repaired permissions as instructed when opening iPhote App (cmmd+option+Open App shows repair and rebuild options did both) No resolution.
[this was migrated for me by Apple Genius bar techs that tested everything from macbook pro 17 snow leopard to new macbook pro 13 2012 to new iMac 21 2012 Mountain Lion.] this carried over from previous devices. Under Snow leopard did not need to always go through Mac Apple Store for updates.

Did you buy the version of iPhoto that was migrated by the geniuses from the Mac App Store or did this app originally come from a DVD? You cannot update the older DVD versions of the iLife apps with the Mac App Store versions. The DVD versions are updated through the Software Update facility in the Apple menu.

How to use iPhoto Library Upgrader

    Hello Terence,
sorry that I come here with a completly different thema but I follow your answers since long and they are always excellent! And I do not know who could help... as I can not find the solution in Apple Support Communities.
I am very afraid with my MacBook Pro: midd. 2012
Prozessor: 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 384 MB
    Software: OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
    Kernel-Version: Darwin 12.5.0
    iPhoto 11, Version: 9.4.3 (720.91)
    iPhone 4s, 64GB Version:7.0.2 (11A501),
    Symptoms:
    1. I have notice three days ago that Spotlight allways answers I should go to the web when I look for data in my computer. It seems that Spotlight can not find anything from my computer.
    2. Timemachine has no data before the 28th. January 2014 (!?) No idea why this happens
    3. In Finder window when I go to "Alle meine Daten"(= All my data) there is absolutely nothing there...it means 0 objekts are there.
4.In  Systemeinformationen (=Systeminformations) if I go to Software and then to Programs... there is nothig there because the Plug-In do not react quick enough (Das Plug-In hat beim Sammeln dieser Informationen nicht schnell genug reagiert). I am asking me which Plug-In it is and where to find it...
    5. On my iPhone the Photo-stream suddenly shows only 110 fotos from Dezember on, but in My MacBookPro the iPhoto Stream shows of course the lasts 1000 ones...from 25.01.2013 to 03.02.14 as it did allways before.
I am not going to sync anything until I discover what is going on...
    6. On my Contacts suddenly appeared the link address of a "game" in my own card ( both in iCloud and Lokal AddressBook)... and I have never ever played an online game (!?). So I deleted this two links as I discovered them some days ago...
I do not know what is going wrong here but I'm afraid to loose all my data in the computer, so I am making a secure copy in an external drive right now...
Could it be a virus inside... a software problem may be...?
The mayor  Problem is how to get the programms to work (Spotlight, etc), or how to repair them.
I'm trying to find something wrong in the Protocols I have here, for example
    - the Repair protocol for users from 27.01.2012 ( /Users/Begona/Library/logs/fsck_hfs.log).
    - the Datasystem-Reppairprotocol from 01.02. 14 (/var/log/fsck_hfs.log)
    - the Installationsprotocol from 04.02.14...
    but I am really lost.
Thank you very much for reading this, help would be high appreciated

  • Can't share photo's in emails anymore after installing Yosemite.  Any ideas how to repair this please?

I would share my pics from iPhoto all the time with my friends.... then came Yosemite.  Now I can't share from iPhoto or I can't pull up an e-mail and attach a photo.  Any ideas how to repair "this" problem?  Thank you!

I would send the email it would give me the little line at the bottom and then that would be it.  No send.  I figured it out I think.  I had to log into IClouds. Decide how I wanted my emails delivered (or something like that).  Email went through.  Fingers crossed it continues working.  Thank you Linc!

  • How to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

Hello all, my Satellite a105-s4054 has some corrupted xp os files.  Please advise on how to repair only these files using the recovery dvd pks included with my sytem.  I would rather not have to do a complete format and install.   And it is now obvious which of the individual files listed should be replaced to repair the corrupted files.
Is there  way to just replace the corrupted files?
