How To Repair /Reload PS CS3 Extended in Master Collection

How do I repair or re-load Photoshop CS3 in the Master Collection? The program is acting funny after several shutdowns, the preferences have been reset...and it still is behaving badly.
I usually just un-install and re-install Photoshop occasionally to get rid of hard gremlins...but...I am concerned with Master Collection. I spent weeks trying to install the original package...and the only way I could get it to install sanely was to wipe my disk to a clean windows install and then do the Master Suite First...otherwise the install would fail after an hour of loading in.
How do I repair or Reload CS3 Extended Master Suite without having to risk crippling my entire install and machine and spending 3-5 hours.
After spending 54 hours troubbleshooting the original install...Im pretty skittish about fooling with it...dont know if they fixed the install yet...it used to be that you had to call support and wait 3 days to get the latest fix.

Well, in short: you don't. Unfortunately using the clean script is technically the only sane solution. However, you can "futz around". If you don't mind loosing the uninstall option in the "Add or Remove Programs" panel, are reasonably certain that no other core component is damaged and can except side effects like Bridge settings and some preferences being reset, you can use the "Microsoft Installer Database Cleanup Utility" to manually(!) remove everything(!) that leaves a trace in the installer list and is related to CS3, including Extend Script Toolkit and all the other fluff tools. After that, you may choose an "Custom Install" with Photoshop only selected. This will overwrite everything in PS, Bridge and a few others, but leave your other tools untouched. Be warned though, success is not guaranteed and this is all on your own risk, so backing up the damaged install first to a different partition/ disk is no bad idea as is deactivating the suite to prevent the "Licensing has stopped working" error. Short of that I can only think of the standalone Photoshop Tryout installer and similar procedures beforehand, but I don't know if it can be unlocked with suite serials, so it may not do any good.

How do i install just certain apps from master collection

I have a smaller harddrive and need to preserve room on it so I want to only install the applications that are included in adobes design premium for right now, I know I can click manual to choose the apps I want to install, however underneath the applications list there is a huge list of other addons and content. Im not sure which of that in attributed to the apps I want to install and I dont want to install it all fearing that im gonna have content that is useless to me because i am only installing certain apps.
My question is what out of the list of add-ons and content do I need to install for only design premium application (acrobat, dreamweaver, photoshop, indesign, illustrator , flash, fireworks, Bridge, device central, version cue)
If anyone knows how to answer that then you are the man!

I have a tiBook/G4 800MHz with just 1 Gig of memory that I keep in the living room so I can watch television and still do some types of work--the types that don't require the same degree of concentration as my real work that I do in the office.
So, there's a case where I might want to install a subset of a suite on my upstairs machine while installing the whole suite on a downstairs machine.
Really guys, when someone asks a question about whether or not something is possible, do we really have to question their motives/sanity rather than answer the question to the best of our ability?
Having said that, I don't know the answer. I would hope that if you select a subset of the applications you'd automatically get all the necessary support software for those applications without having to worry. But some of those items lower down the list are a tad hard to fathom.
Perhaps a good strategy is to start by installing the minimum you think you need and let experience guide you if you realize you need more. You can always add the other items later.
You don't say how small your drive is nor how much will be free after the install. I'd be hesitant to run the suite with a primary hard drive that had less than 25% or 10 Gigs (whichever is the larger) of free space on it.

How can I tackle error 4960 while downloading Master Collection CV5?

I'm using a Macbook Pro. It took some 40 hours over 3 days to download CS5 (thorugh wifi) and at the end of it...it showed me the following error....
The following disc images could not be opened
Image Reason
MasterCollection_CS5_ error -4960
Now it just say Extracting...it might take a while!!!
Is this error because i did not download at one go? Pl help... I do not want to go through the ordeal of another download!!

if your still having problems downloading i figured it out. the download you first tried was interrupted and didnt download completely so what you have to do is
1) in the top right of a mac click search and search for MasterCollection_CS5_ (or what you error is IE photoshop_12_1 ect...)
2) the click "show all in finder"
3) look for the .dmg file "MasterCollection_CS5_.dmg" and delete it
4) try to down load again WITHOUT interuption.

CS3 Extended having problems opening image files.

I had a CS3 Master Collection from The Art Institute forced us to buy that I had never opened because Photoshop 7 worked fine & I didn't need all the other crap that came with CS3 in the Master Collection. So I had been using Photoshop 7 for years & years, but when I got a new computer, Photoshop 7 didn't work anymore. If you can't tell me what's wrong with CS3, maybe you can tell me how to get my old 7 working on 64 bit windows?
Getting this stuff out of the way:
*Brand new computer, Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.
*Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, installed about 3 months ago.
*CS3 Extended was working just fine for 1 or 2 months with no problems.
*Problem: CS3 stops responding or hangs exsessively when opening image files.
*Already tried alt/ctrl/shift reset.
*Already deleted all the printers.
*Already tried the tilde in front of the TWAIN.
*This Master Suite takes like 3 hours to install, so reinstalling is something I'd rather avoid.
*Yes, it's updated.
*Yes, the licence was renewed.

Terabyte drive. 80% free space.
Yeah, I reinstalled. Can't believe I had to go through 4 discs to reinstall one program for the suite.
Reinstalling windows is overkill when" error check," & "SFC /scannow," & "boot repair" are sufficient.
Found out that it WILL work if you don't have a browser window open, but I like to listen to stuff on the net when using photoshop. I dunno why the browser makes photoshop refuse to open or create new images, but it would be helpful to know.
Also, despite not having a printer, the error log seems to indicate that it's part of the problem.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I did defrag after reinstalling. I know someone will bring it up if I don't.

How do I get a copy of Acrobat with my CS5 Master Collection???

I activated my Adobe CS5 Master Collection (running on Snow Leopard) with a serial number purchased from CDW and everything went smoothly, but after a few days of using the core products I typically use I noticed Acrobat was not included in the installed software.
Now, Adobe lists Acrobat PRO as an included product in the Master Collection and rightfully so since it contans just about every product they make.
When I emailed Adobe about this but the only response I got was some pre-formatted auto-response probably sent to me from the help desk in India or something. The auto-response said absolutely nothing about how to obtain a copy for the Mac, and just had a link taking me to the Acrobat home page, which basically says there is no trial version of Acrobat for Mac available for download.
I gave up on it since I do not use Acrobat very much but now I am in a situation where I do need to have Acrobat Pro to finish a job and I cannot figure out how to get a copy installed with the Master Collection.
There was no disclaimer indicating that you would not be able to get a copy of Acrobat when I purchased the downloadable version vs. buying a boxed DVD set, so I am expecting there must be a way.
Adobe's help has been pretty much useless when I emailed them, and I cannot find anyone with the same problem on Google or in the Adobe forums, so is there someone out there who can give me the answer or help me?
If I have to purchase a seperate copy of Acrobat so be it, but since it is supposed to be included with the Master Suite that would be kind of stupid if I have to purchase a copy of Acrobat seperately.

Well the error message is in Swedish but says: The installation program database is damaged. Please contact the Adobe support (which is a hard thing to do!!). I use Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1.

How To De-activate and Transfer Photoshop CS3 Extended

I'm trying to de-activate my Photoshop CS3 Extended so I can uninstall it and reinstall it from my old XP computer to my new computer which is Windows 7 . There's supposed to be a tab for De-activate under the help menu but there isn't when I click on help. I have the box, Disc and license so reinstalling it should be easy if I can just get it de-activated. Thanks for any help.

Contact support to reset activations then simply install the program on your new machine.

CS3 Extended trial when CS3 installed

I am wanting to trial CS3 extended on a system which already has CS3 installed. When I download the trial it does not attempt to install CS3 extended as a separate application but merely "repairs" the existing CS3 installation and does not give me an opportunity to trial CS3 extended!
How can I get CS3 extended trial to install as an additional but entirely seperate application?
To add a further complication the system is a windows 64bit. The current cs3 is installed but does not take advantage of 64 bit features and installs as a 32 bit application in C:\Program Files(86). I understand CS3 extended is meant to take advantage of 64 bit so clearly a seperate install into C:\Program Files is needed. The whole purpose of the trial is to see how well CS3 extended takes advantage of the Windows 64 bit OS.
Naturally I do not want the existing CS3 installation to be changed or in any way compromised by the trial.

I registered here on the Adobe site in 2000 or the year before but my contacts with Adobe and a few of their old hands go back long before then.
I agree with your "flying F" comment and deeply regret the loss of direct contact with and responsiveness of the pre-"contracted out support" days. I agree that the "old engineers" appear to have been deterred from posting but IMHO that had little to do with Bobs analysis about negative comments by users when the forums got going. The pressure on the engineers not to contribute appeared to have more to do with their honesty and tendency not to contradict users who voiced legitimate grievances. This was not welcomed by management who seemed to me to have morphed the organisation from a user responsive outfit to a much more bunkered view of the world. To me the turning point came after the blistering Adobe received when, in the eyes of many users, they failed to respond quickly and efficiently to the introduction of firewire.
Since then response has IMHO gone down hill to the extent that they the response to legitimate user complaints is pretty poor. The way they responded over the misleading information about the differences between PS CSs and CS3 extended is a case in point. Most organisations would have at a minimum said OK if you are going to spend some more money with us then we will be v. happy to upgrade you from CS3 to CS3 extended rather say you have to pay full price for the extended version on top of paying for CS3. This is therefore a reasoned objection to what to me appears to be a grossly insensive way of dealing with a legitimate enquiry.
There are those hear who say it is not worth commenting here because only users hear what is being said.
I do not agree.. I understand the discussions here are carefully read by a team at Adobe HQ .. attention is only paid when enough voices speak with sufficient reason and clarity. So IMHO we should speak up responsibly here with the expectation that what we say will be listened to even when the listening is not publicly acknowledged!!
I also agree that plain ******** is destructive and should be discouraged.
There needs to be a clear understanding that as users we need Adobe's products and those of us who are long established users wish Adobe well. On the other hand Adobe do have a responsibility to be responsive to us and to clearly expressed reasonable needs.
I also believe there are those whose primary role here is to damp down expectations that what is said here may have an impact there. IMHO the PR should not be believed.
