How to replace bookmark icons which disappeared in latest update?

After the latest update of Firefox today, I noticed all the favicons for websites disappeared from my Bookmarks. Very annoying. Has there been any fix for this bug? Or, if not, is it possible to go back to previous version? Thanks.

Hi sjed,
You should take a look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues this article] that discusses some of the issues with the latest build of Firefox.
There is some information in there that should help you to resolve your issue. Luckily, it is a very easy fix.
Hopefully this helps!

    My bookmarks icon, which was located next to the homepage icon is missing. Please tell me how to restore the icon so I can have access to the bookmarks

    Hi,
    Please try this: '''View '''('''Alt '''+ '''V''') > '''Toolbars''' > '''Customize''' or right-click the '''+''' after the last tab, look for the '''Bookmarks''' icon (there may be two), click, hold, drag and drop it on an empty space in the toolbar. When the '''Customize...''' window is open you can also check if the icon is hidden below other icons by moving the other toolbar items.

  • App store updates icons go from update to open & remain on screen.  How do I get them to disappear from the update screen?

    How do I get the updated icons to disappear from the Updates screen?

    This is a new feature of iOS 7. A record is kept of which apps were updated and when. Tis is useful if you have apps set to automatically update.

  • How do I retrieve lost Bookmark icons most of which disappeared when I updated to Firefox 8?

    After I updated to Firefox 8 I noticed that more than half of the itemsin my bookmarks list had lost their icons which were replaced by a dotted line in the shape of a square. I tried to go back to using Firefox 7 using System Restore. The restore was successful except that Firefox could not be opened. So I undid the restore and this allows Firefox to open and all seems ok apart from the fact that the majority of the items in my Bookmark list have disappeared and have been replaced as described. Can anybody help?

    Hi everyone. At issue is that FF8, obviously due to a coding bug, no longer is retrieving the favicon from the root of a website's www directory website in some situations. I tried starting FF8 with all add-ons disabled, just to verify that an add-on wasn't causing the issue. The add-on Check Places will restore the missing favicons, but the favicon will disappear as soon as you visit the bookmarked URL if the favicon was missing after you upgraded to FF8.
    Hehe. I am not too thrilled with Mozilla's new rapid development cycle. FF8 is simply a tweaked version of FF7 and as such it should have been a 7X upgrade. But I guess Mozilla wants Firefox to get up to version 10000 before Chrome does. Silly.

  • How do I retrieve 'bookmark" icons which have disappeared?

    In FF30,how do I bookmark a site (add a bookmark) when the two relevant icons have disappeared. There is a bookmark icon in the menu list. It shows the current bookmark list. I did add a new folder, but could find no way to add a book mark.

    In current Firefox releases (29 and later), that have have the Australis user interface, the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar and this button is always visible, whether you have the menu bar visible or hidden<br>A consequence of this location is that you no longer can hide the Navigation Toolbar
    *There is a star like button next to the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu.<br>You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of this drop-down list
    *If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark"
    *You can make the title bar visible via the "Title Bar" button at the bottom left in the Customize palette window
    It is still possible to have the menu bar visible via the right-click context menu of a toolbar to have menus like the File menu with Print (Ctrl+P) and Print Preview and the Bookmarks menu available.

  • Where did opne one of my bookmarked categories which disappeared go??/

    I had a specific bookmark category which has disappeared. How can I find it?

    A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • How to block bookmark icons?

    How do you block bookmark icons? It seems they cause Safari to take an unusually long time to launch, or at least to become responsive after it's been launched. I remember seeing some utility app that had the option to block bookmark icons but I don't remember which one it was. Any ideas?

    HI,
    Not sure if you can block a bookmark icon but try Safari maintenance.

  • How to replace coffeecup icon on JTabbedPane, setIconImage doesnt work?

    I've read many posts where people ask how to replace the coffeecup icon with their own chosen icon and all the replies say to use "setIconImage" but this does not work with a JTabbedPane. Does anyone know how to replace the coffeecup on an application that is using a JTabbedPane?

    Are you talking about the icon on a tab or the icon in the upper left corner of the frame?
    To set the icon for the frame:
    java.net.URL url = getClass().getResource("./images/my_image.jpg"); this.setIconImage(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(url));To set the icon on a tab, look at the addTab() method of javax.swing.JTabbedPane.

  • How to fix bookmark icons from reappearing in new browser windows despite having bookmark deiconizer enabled (Mac Snow Leopard/Firefox 20.0).

    Ever since Firefox upgraded to 20.0, my enabled deiconizer doesn't work when I open a new browser window. Using Mac/Snow Leopard.
    I want those bookmark toolbar icons to disappear permanently! They are nothing but clutter.

    Thanks for the suggestions. I think my next move is to contact Mozilla/FireFox to complain about this change and see if it can be fixed. If not, then I'll probably just switch to Safari. I lose patience with companies/programmers who do things like this. When I had programmers reporting to me (before I retired a few years ago), I would never let them get away with this sort of nonsense. User flexibility was a requirement.

  • I lost all my bookmarks after i installed the latest update

    hi i updated to the latest update of firefox which is 23.0.1 adn i have lost al my bookmarks, i have tried to restore them but i dont have any data on the bookmark backup file, if it helps i installed aurora after i updated and then uninstalled it and after i rebooted my computer al my data on firefox was lost

    You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved#w_fix-the-bookmarks-file
    You should be cautious to use your default profile with other (development) versions.
    Did you uninstall that Aurora version?
    If you did then I hope that you didn't remove your personal data because that will have removed all Firefox profile folders.

  • Hi.. OS x 10.8.5.. Bookmarks Icons that disappear

    Does anyone know why, when you drag an icon to your bookmarks list the original unique icon is there for a short while and is then replaced by a standard blue circle icon.. This surely defeats the point of having an identifiable icon in the first place which enables faster ID and location of whatever item you're looking for..

  • How to replace the icon in the title bar and minimized window

    I am not sure if this is a Swing question. But since nobody answered it in the Java Programming forum, let me place it here:
    I would like to set my own icon in the title bar and in the minimized window of my java application, replacing the java coffee cup icon.
    I am using:
    frame.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("image.gif").getImage())
    as was suggested previously in the Java Programming forum at:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=31&threadID=5212059
    This does create the icon in both places. However, it only works when I run the program from JBuilder 2006. It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar or the .exe file.
    How can I make it work for my .jar and .exe file?
    Please help! Thanks!

    It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar...working example for a .jar
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    class Testing
      public void buildGUI()
        JFrame f = new JFrame();
        Image img;
        try
          java.net.URL url = new java.net.URL(getClass().getResource("Save.gif"), "Save.gif");//correct capitalization required
          if (url != null)
            img = javax.imageio.ImageIO.read(url);
            f.setIconImage(img);
        catch(Exception e){}//do nothing - default will display
        f.setSize(200,200);
        f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        f.setVisible(true);
      public static void main(String[] args)

  • LabVIEW2009: How to replace new Icon Editor with old one?

    Colleagues,
    I really don't like the new icon editor introduced in LabVIEW 2009:
    That was nice attempt to make "embedded Photoshop" with lot of features:
    But I really don't like it, because:
    - it opened EVERY TIME on the RIGHT monitor (I have three monitors, and primary monitor in the middle)
    - it takes lot of time for launch (old icon editor was started momentally)
    - from usability point of view - it was wrong to place tools on the right side. Commonly they located on the left side (and only in old icon editor, but also in imageprocessing software like Adobe Photoshop). Also front panel UI design... hmmm... this can be better...
    - some bugs or changed functionality (for example - select ROI, then press <Del> button - nothing happened)
    etc...
    Is it possible to replace it with old one:
    Ideal solution will be - simple switch between both editors (some introduced features are not so bad).
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrey.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Go into <LabVIEW>\Resource\Plugins and rename lv_icon.vi. This is the plugin that's called when you invoke the icon editor, and if it's not there, LV reverts to the built-in editor (at least today. I'm not sure how many versions ahead they will keep the code).
    You should note that the editor is open source, so you can go in and change what you want (or save yourself time and use the changes others have made, such as PJM's thread here. You may also want to look at the other discussions in that group).
    Try to take over the world!
