How to replace remote's battery?

I have a new iMac G5, currently running OS 10.4.6, with Front Row 1.2.2. I can activate Front Row by using the COMMAND+ESCAPE keys, but the remote has no effect. I tried to use the remote to pause/play in iTunes with no luck - so it looks like the battery is the culprit.
Is this a user-serviceable repair? I can't find any technical article on how to replace the battery - or is this something that only Apple can do?
Thanks for any wisdom anyone may have.

Replacing the battery is easy. Take a pen and click the dimple in the end of the remote, a drawer will pop out with the battery in it.

An Authorized Apple Service Provider may also be capable of restoring
function to older hardware; though getting replacement new parts is an
issue going forward, as it always has been, given new product change.
For other repairs, one should look to Specialists and that includes repair
companies whose only business is primarily to restore function to Macs.
    A few examples exist, one of them is wegenermedia.com for portables;
since they can be more easily/less costly shipped than desktop models.
To post a comment to a stale and outdated thread, brings little to the table

  • How to replace RTC(CMOS) battery in Satellite A50-432

    Hi to everyone!
I've a SA50-432: which Satellite model is my notebook?
I should replace the rtc (cmos) battery.
Should I open all my notebook? Or which parts?
    Thanks!
    Ale.

    Hi buddy
In order to replace the CMOS battery you will have to disassemble the whole notebook.
Do you really want to risk this?
I mean the whole notebook should be disassembled in the right direction and you should use the right tools and right order
This is not easy and I would say its impossible without any additional manuals and hardware experience
I recommend contacting an notebook technician this would be the best way because such disassembling is really tricky and there is a high risk that you would damage some other expensive parts like motherboard or display
PS; Why do you want to repalce teh CMOS battery? Did you try to recharge it again?

  • Portege M100 - How to replace the RTC battery?

Hello, the RTC battery of my Portege M100 is flat. I manage to order one from the internet but I can't locate it. I dismantle almost every part of the computer, but if someone could just guide me and give the procedure du replace it, it would be great. Thanks in advance!!

    Hi friend,
its easy to replace the RTC battery on your machine. I did it already and I had no problems during the replacement, I mean it was a little bit tricky to find the batt. but I will give everything from my experience. ;)
Look first at the wireless lan card, theres a slot an under the slot is the minipci-wlan-card located. Near the wireless lan card slot is some little cover, this cover must be removed (gently). The RTC battery is located in some white insulator, but before peeling that little battery out, you must disconnect the battery from the mainboard. After disconnecting it, just lift the RTC up and place the new one there.
Thats all, unfortunately I cannot serve you with some pics, so you will have to imagine it by yourself. ;)
    Good luck and greets
P.s.: If you feel uncomfortable in replacing the batt, then ask some techie to help you.

  • How to replace an PRAM battery??  IMac g3 9.1 "Bondi Blue"

I think that my PRAM battery is dead. Can anyone give me instructions to replace it? I have a full working battery from an older computer lying around somewhere...

    Hi, Ben -
Replacing the battery in early iMacs can be tricky. You would probably get a quicker directed response if you reposted this question in one of the hardware forums for the iMac G3 models. The most appropriate would probably be this one, the Using your iMac G3 (CRT) forum -
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=888
Not all computers use the same battery. This Apple KBase article cross references battery part numbers with models -

  • How to replace iPod's battery?

My iPod has been freezing up, most notably when I try to add music to it in itunes. I have had to restore it at least 5 times, and I am starting to think it's the battery, because when I CAN get it to work, the battery is always really low...
I realized also that the stupid car adapter I bought for it is also a charger, so it's been charging ALL the time, which would probably mean the battery is super played out.
I've heard lots of bad things about their batteries anyway. Is there a way to replace just that? Is it cost effective? It's out of warranty (just barely, of course) and as it was a gift, I don't have applecare on it...

It may be neither the ipod nor the battery. Since it is freezing during syncing, and doesn't seem to be charging, I would first make sure that the USB port you are connecting it to is USB 2.0. For instance, if I connect my ipod to a port that is not 2.0, I see a message that says this device would perform faster if connected to USB. 2.0. Do you see this message ever? If you are not sure which ports on your computer are 2.0, a good rule of thumb is to connect it to a porton the back of the computer. The ports on the front of the tower, on the keyboard, or onthe monitor are not usually 2.0.
Also, you did not mention if the computer you are connecting the ipod to is a laptop or a desktop, which can make a BIG difference.

  • How to replace iphone battery

    How to replace iphone Battery?

This can only be done by Apple or a certified repair shop - in fact Apple would probably simply replace the phone (at a cost) as they do with iPods. It's a big weakness, but it's the cost of the snazzy slim design. I think they must be gambling on most people upgrading their phones every year or eighteen months.
Having said that this site provides information on doing it yourself for an iPhone 4 - I don't know whether there similar sites for the latest models - but I am not recommending that you do this: you would find it tricky at least, you might well damage something, and you will get no help from Apple if you do.
