How to report a positive genius bar experience

I'm a new user still stumbling along in many ways. For instance, I hope that I
haven't posted in this discussion inappropriately. I called Apple support twice, and spoke to 3 different people who were unable to help me with a unique issue. Today, I went to the Genius Bar at the local Apple retail store and had my problem resolved inside of 15 minutes. The Genius was fast, efficient, obviously very good at his job, and informative. I'd like to be able to email someone of some stature to recognize this individual. Any contact suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm glad you had a good experience! I think the best you can do in this case is write a letter to the manager of that sentre and let him take it from there.
I dont know if Apple has an email adress exclusively for compliments haha but i'm sure if you tell the store manager it will be noted

    I had my first "Genius" Bar experience yesterday and I left very unimpressed.
    I had a MacBook Air crashing in iPhoto several times an hour.
    I explained that I had done the following to troubleshoot.
    1. Reformatted hard drive
    2. Installed Mounatin Lion and iPhoto straight from App Store.
    3. Edited the iPhoto library from both the SSD and an external drive.
    It continued to crash.
    Then I took the external drive and edited in on my iMac where there was no problem.
    Of course the MacBook Air wouldn't crash while in the store.
    I mentioned isn't there a log of crashes. They didn't do anything to look at the logs.
    She mentioned it could be a corrupted preference file left over from previous install.  Strike one. I reminded her I reformatted the drive.
    Then I took the MacBook Air from her and opened the Console program and showed her some crashes. She scrolled through and found some more. Then I said, why don't you type crashreport in the search bar. Bingo, now they were all listed with just a couple of lines of basic info.
    She said that didn't give her enough info. They needed to leave it overnight for testing.
    I then scrolled down to the various logs and there the full reports were. Now after looking at it they said sounds like a logic board and ordered one.
    How is it that I had to lead this "genius" through all these steps?
    And better yet, where can I complain directly to Apple?

    Not trying to sound like an apologist for Apple, but one thing that has been pointed out to me at an Apple store is that the "geniuses" are for the most part specialists themselves.  Some are genius in particular hardware, some in particular software, and so on.  So it sounds like you happened on someone who was not that sharp on Mac OS X and its means and ways of logging system issues.
    Another way you can try feedback is, when you go to pickup your MBA if it is still at the store is to ask to speak with the manager.  Calmly point out your experience, without being confrontational and condemning, and your disapppintment that the genius did not seek help from an other genius more knowledgable about Mac OS X issues.

    There should be an option to reschedule or cancel.  You will need to use the same Apple ID that was used to schedule the appointment.

    You'll have to either call AppleCare...they'll have a record, or go back to the Genius bar where your phone was replaced.

    I had to have the ODD replaced in my 2010 27" iMac. The Genius Bar experience was, erm, an experience.
    I got my iMac back today and, after turning it on, discovered what appear to be dead pixels on my screen. They definitely weren't there before I left the machine with them. From briefly looking around the web, it appears it may be (i.e. I hope it is) dust that's trapped behind the screen. Surely Apple have the equipment to allow them to prevent such occurances?
    Should I demand they do the job properly, or am I expecting too much?
    Had I ben told about this before hand, I might not have opted to have the ODD replaced (as I only did it because it's still under warranty).

    It's just very frustrating as the Apple Store is not local, and the 27" iMac isn't the easiest thing to carry around.
    The pixel anomalies weren't there before I took it in to have the ODD replaced. I expected that Apple, of all companies, would have done the best job possible. I hope it is just dust, and not newly dead pixels.
    I'm sure Apple will do the right thing, but it's just such a pain to have to take it back to them again (it will be my third journey there in a week).

    It sounds like you are mixing up several different things (or not using the terminology that Apple uses).
    One thing is backup. You can backup via icloud or via iTunes and there is no reason you cannot do both -- I do and the second link below from Apple gives instructions. Doing a backup will include photos from the Camera Roll in the backup but you will not be able to see the results -- all of the backup data will be stored on iCloud or on your computer in files that are not designed to be accessed by you for any purpose other than restoring to your phone in the event of a problem.     If you simply want to transfer photos from an iPhone to a computer, the terminology Apple uses for that is "import" and it is done without iTunes. New photos (taken after you change the setting) can be done via PhotoStream which is a cloud based option. The other option is via cable. Instructions for both: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
    Syncing via iTunes (with regard to photos) is used to transfer photos the other direction -- from the computer to the phone. Instructions for that http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

    Your problem description is generalized and non-specific. I would make another appointment at the Apple store and insist they help you execute their suggested fixes.
