How to reposition an image in Pages 5.0?

I have to say that the new Pages 5.0 UI takes some getting used to. Familiar features are in a different location and sometimes don't work the way I expect them to. "Object" support is particularly perplexing. I had no problem positioning images (primarily photos) exactly how I wanted them in the previous version. In this new version, the Move with Text panel just doesn't seen to work like I expect. Specifially, choosing Text Wrap - Above and Below shows an insertion point in the document. In the previous version, I could drag the image around to move the insertion point exactly where I wanted it. In 5.0 that doesn't seem to work. Pages 5.0 Help says "
Reposition an object anchored to text
An object anchored to text has an anchored object marker that indicates the text it’s associated with.
Drag the object or its marker to the text you want to associate the object with
But the marker does not move when I drag the image and there doesn't seem to be a way to click on and drag the marker itself. Anyone else having issues or have a solution?

I also wanted to use the text wrap: "above and below" option with setting the marker at a specific position, but I found no way at all to select and move the marker. The Help seems to suggest that you should be able to do it.
I would argue this is a bug.
You are right that "Inline with text" seems to be the best option if you want to place images that move with the text.

How can I ACTUALLY crop an image in Pages to the size of the mask? Reducing image size des not work, it reduces the size of all images by reducing the quality. It does not in fact cut images to the mask shape. Any ideas?

When using the mask you get the images put behind the mask. You can change the size of the mask if you like to get the part of the image you want showing. That is the masks behavior.
If you really want to crop the image first you have to use another application for the cropping. There are many out on the net that you can try.
Download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu. On page 138 in the English version it describes Masking images.

How to import PDF image into Pages manuscript that is larger than the text bed margins

How do I import a PDF image into a Pages book manuscript, whose dimensions are larger than the global text bed margins? Any imported PDF image is automatically shrunk to fit within the text bed. I know I can set up a single page with wider margins and a text bed within it, but I want the image to import to a page already within the manuscript sequence, where the text bed margins are set and constant.

By default it should be dragging in as a floating image and not part of the text.
What version of Pages are you using?
In Pages 5 this is:
Format > Arrange > Object Placement > Stay on Page > Size > Original size

Is it possible to delete at the same time several images from a text file in Pages? I pasted a Facebook conversation in a text file and unfortunately all its pictures too (like profile pictures). Please help me!

If you don't want the images you can use the "Paste and match style" option when you paste. The images will not get pasted. You can use Cms + X to cut the already pasted text with images and then use Paste and match style in the Edit menu.

How to add background image in Pages?

Pages has consistently proved itself to be very counterintuitive piece of software. I searched the web for almost an hour without a good solid answer to this question.
What I want to do:
1. Add a transparent png as my background, with a cut out center to be used for my content (basically a custom document border).
2. Have that background automatically replicate itself on every following page.
3. Be able to type over the entirety of the image if I want, and after reaching the bottom of the page with my text, have Pages automatically create another page for me with the same layout.
Color me ignorant, but all of that seems impossibly hard to figure out on my own just by poking around / reading tutorials / searching the web for answers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "inspector / object placement." Where do you find that? The object inspector doesn't have any placement options.
Use the button on the format bar or the wrap inspector as in this screenshot.

How include an extra image in page header section.

Hi,
I need to include a new image in the blue header section of the page. There is already one corporate branding image in that header. The requirement is to include one more image in the middle of the header section.
Any thoughts please?

Though I already tested this approach. The problem with this option was that its multi linugual and the two languages are English and Arabic and both are written in opposite direction...but image remains one directional..

However, I want this controller to be available on all the pages so that it can bring the image on all the pages.Thats why I thought to attach the controller to the footer region. But I think new item inclusion using personalization is not working in standard footer.

I have created a blank document where I have put an image. I want to crop a little bit at the top and bottom, keeping the same width. But when I use the handles, the whole image is resizing. I also tried using a modifier (option, command etc) to no luck.

PSE 8 - Can I reposition an image on a page for printing?

I am learning how to print photos using PSE 8 on a Mac running 10.6.4. In PSE 2, when printing I was able to slide a photo around on a page and reposition it for printing. (I could then print the photo on top of the page and then reinsert the paper into the printer and print on the bottom half too.) Is there a way to move a photo around on a page for printing in PSE 8 on a Mac? In PSE 8 Help, under Printing and Sharing Photos > Print Photos > Reposition an Image, it says you can: Choose File > Print and then use "the panning operation" to reposition the image, but I don't know what the "panning operation" is. All I see is an immovable box with the photo inside it. I can move the photo around in the box, but the box does not move with it, so no matter what, the photo (or a part of it) is going to print in the middle of the page it seems. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Try resizing the image before you go into the print dialog. Then, once you are in the print dialog, uncheck Center Image and you should be able to move it anywhere on the sheet.

My goal is to create multi page pdfs that are created from images (scans of old brochures). I receive images (scans of pages) all at the same size.
I have been able to create the 4 pdfs (each opens at full page size) and merge into 1 pdf. When I open that final pdf, I see a column of 4 pages, page 1 image being larger than the remaining 3. When I click on the left, page 1, icon, I get the full page. When I click on icons for pages 2 - 4, I get nothing. The only way I can get the other pages in a full page view is to adjust the scaling after left icon is selected. That is not what I want.
How I created the files.
I can either create pdf pages using Photoshop, or using Acrobat Pro itself through:
File> Create PDF> From File and adding each of the images. I then, for each, choose Properties> Initial View> Fit Page> Save. Then I use File> Combine> Merge Files into Single PDF> Save.
Then I open the multi page pdf.
I appreciate any help.

It seems to me what you want to do is create one document which a combination of all four and then one page of each.
To create a Document with 4 pages combined in to one PDF. open the first in a Series the to Edit menu and click on add pages click on next document (browse to document first) the choose attach to to end of document or add to end of document. Repeat until you get all images added. They will end up (or should ) center in center of their own page. Save this document with a new name for now.
Next go back to Photo shop and reduce size of images to fit desired sheet of paper (8-1/2 by 11, 8-1/2 by 14, whatever) place them side by side and row by row so you have 4 images on one page.
now save as Pdf.
now decide which you want to swap to the Thumbnails (the 4 on one page, or 4 individual pages. I would use the thumbnails and make each a button that references the page in the document you save as a 4 page pdf that applies.
Then on that page write a line saying click each illustration to see full size image (you might have to write this line while in Photoshop) then save this as PDF file
Try out. You might have to use some javascript controls to do this. But I am not experienced in JavaScript to do this. I'm sure it cane be done.
But note you will have to save both documents with the Thumbnails and the four page and Thumbnail page in a folder and send to prospect
If you want just four separate pages in one Pdf just do first two paragraphs above

How to add an image in multiple pages?

Hi,
First be aware that before posting this, I digged into Google but could not find a solution.
How to add an image in the footer section of a PDF document of size, say, 500pages? I am not going to add it one by one in very page, it's too time consuming.
Is there a way to add it in the footer section or any other alternative, so that I end up with the same image in an exact position in all 500 pages?
