How to reset/clear updates?

A friend of mine downloaded a payed app, using his account, onto my mac. Once he was done, deleted the app, and signed out of his account. I am now signed back into my account. The app shows up in the updates tab now, even though it is now gone. I try to update and get a box with his password, which I do no have access to. If i choose to ignore, not only do I have the small red update notification on the App Store icon, bugging me, but every 10 minutes or so it pops up a notification in the top right corner of my screen, prompting me to update! I then have to dismiss this notification, otherwise it is taking up space on my display. It is especially a problem when it disturbs my presentations, or videos i'm showing to other people over my projector. I have found no way to solve! Please help!

Do these:
1. Open terminal (cmd+ spacebar and type terminal)
2. Type (open $TMPDIR../C/)
3. A folder opens. Delete com.apple.appstore folder
4. Re open App Store!!!!!!! ---Leave Our Internet Alone =LOIA------

depending on what exactly you mean with "clear", it is a bug. See this thread: App Store Updates Do Not Clear
If you update your App's via iTunes, and not "over the air", the badge count on the AppStore-app icon is wrong, and the list shows "available updates" that you can open in the new version. The listing under "Updated #date#" lists only updates that were done OTA in the last month.

The posting period should not be a problem. If I go manually to the FBRA tx via SAPGUI, and I enter one document number whose date is in a closed period and select "reset only", it resets the document automatically without problems. It works.
BUT, if I try to use the call_fbra, for that same document, it says that the posting period is closed. If I try to specify a date for I_STODT, to make call_fbra use this, it keeps saying the posting period is closed for mode 01...but I'm not specifing any mode...in fact, I don't know how to specify it.
Any clues.

Once I have updated my apps how do I clear those updates from the screen. Currently I see the updates I made 9/26/13, 9/25/13, 9/22/13, 9/20/13. Once I have updated teh apps I no longer need to see that I updated them.

Yes. I have updated all devices to IOS 7. In 6.1.3 anytime I updated an App once it updated and re-opened the updates only apps needing an update were displayed.
I have turned off background refresh because it suddenly made my iphone act like my old android phone. A horrendous battery sucker.

You're saying you don't back up your phone regularly? You should ALWAYS back up before updating your phone. That said, try resetting first: hold down the home button and the power button for at least 10-20 seconds until you see the Apple. Hopefully you can then try to perform the update again. Start doing backups if your data is important to you.

A similar thing happened when I updated the ios on my ipad. But, I was able to reboot, and then restore from backup.   How can I get my ipod to reboot and allow restore when it is not even recognized as I reconnect to my computer?

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

I did a reset of my phone yesterday and now when I go to purchaed to download my paurchsed tabs there is nothing there.
I see them in my ipad but they are not in my itunes app section either.
I searched for one in the app store and it usually said "open" or had the cloud icon with the little arrow to downlaod again (free). But none of that shows up at all this time. All the apps that I'm missing show up in the pp store for me to buy again like I never purchased them at all!
What's going on?
I'm missing a ton of apps!

I just wanted to add this information to my post:
I have purchaed, free and paid, 618 apps.
In my phone apps to add to my phone when I plug it in my computer only 266 apps show up.
In my itunes "puerchased list" only 266 show up.
Thank God I have not updated my ipad. There I went to my "purchased" under the ALL list in the app store and there I do see my 618 apps!
Where did my other 352 apps go? Which many were paid.
I want my apps back.

Double click your Home key and swipe up on the Settings screen to close it. Also, you can try going to the Update screen and clicking "Check for Updates" again to see if that will turn it off. I know this happened to me once, and it is annoying, to say the least! I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it but it was one of the options I provided....I may have had to do it several times. Sorry - it was awhile ago, and I don't remember which one worked!

I may not be making myself clear on what I have done;
Initially, I went through the steps to answer the security questions; I was only able to answer one, then I reached the maximum amount of attempts for the second question.
I then tried the steps; to the page to click on 'manage my id'; then I signed back in and clicked on the line on the left side of page that reads "password and secuirty"; which then states; "We apologize, but we were unable to verify your account information with the answers you provided to our security questions - You have made too many attempts to answer these questions. So, for security reasons, you will not be able to reset password for the next eight hours".
The thing is, I am not and was not trying to reset my password, only the security questions - for the past 2 - 3 hours I have been trying this.
I have also tried to get phone assistance and I keep getting e-mails that Apple has tried to call - no one has called my number, I have been sitting by the phone for the pastg 3+ hours . . . .
I am not sure what else to do at this point.

You can't delete your purchase history, you can only hide it (in iTunes on your computer).

Thank you for pointing this out. Might I rephrase that to, go to updates. press and hold on a update. Tap on "hide all updates" and this would clear the existing updates of that person, and blocks all further updates from that user.

As I believe the update would fail as it would be attempting to update to iOS 7 which is 'above its paygrade' or at least this is what an apple genius told me...
He said he thought I would need to find an old version of iTunes containing the correct version of iOS. But he was not very confident about what he was telling me.

I may be asking the wrong question here, let's back up a little.
I have an iPad 1 running iOS 5.1.1
Over the years it has become a little laggy and sluggish. I am about to replace it and wish to 'recycle' this old one onto my granddaughter.
I want to completely wipe it, and get rid of all traces of the hundreds of app it's had on and deleted, in the hopes that it will clean up any residual crud that's choking it.
Is a factory reset what I'm looking for?
What I had in mind, is what I have done with my iPhone on a couple of occasions which was to completely start over with it and I was sure that that had taken the iOS version back to what it was when I took delivery of it. But I may be wrong...
