How to reset ColorSync Profile on multiple images

I am trying to import jpeg files into iPhoto.
Large numbers get rejected with the message:
The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)
The rejected files can be opened in just about any image viewing application but get rejected by iPhoto.
If I open one the files with an image editor (I used Seashore) and do a "Save as" then iPhoto no longer complains.
After alot of trial and error I noticed that if I open one of the files in ColorSync Utility then the Color Sync Profile is set to "SF_T (Plustek OpticFilm 7200i)" which is the scanner used to create the image in the first place.
The files that import successfully have a blank "Color Sync Profile" with the words "will assume Generic RGB for conversions" underneath.
It appears that if I can in some way convert all the files that have the "bad" Color Sync Profile then I will be able to import them.
I cant just open them one by one and "Save as" as there are several thousand of them.
Any advice appreciated

"reset active promotions on profile" - if you mean to say removing promotions then you may want to take a look at revokePromotion() method under PromotionTools which can remove the passed in promotion-Id or promotion repository-item from the given profile's list of active promotions.

  • How to apply lens correction profile to multiple images at once?

I have a quick newbie question and I couldn't find an answer in a brief search that I did. Is it possible to apply lens correction profile automatically to multiple images at once? For my RAW images, LR automatically detects the lens and applies the correction profile for an image if I manually click on "Enable lens correction" option under Develop module (in the right pane where adjustments are made). However, I would like to do this to multiple images all at once.
    Thanks,
    Osho

Be careful using develop setting synchronization for lens profile across mutiple images! This allows applying an incorrect profile (i.e. Canon 17-40mm profile with synchronization to images shot with multiple lenses) First use the 'filter' tool to make sure you select images shot with only one (1) lens type. Then follow one of the procedures here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WS0E6E6886-E223-4050-B6E0-A97B5B62EF7D.htm l
You can also change the "default" develop settings with 'Lens Profile' option checked and then save as the "new default" setting. LR will then "automatically" apply lens profile correction on import of new images.

  • How to reset firefox profile if it crashes on start (also safe mode)

    Hello,
I need to know how to make Firefox do a profile reset when it crashes on start even in safe mode. It starts fine with a new profile.
I had this before today, and then after the 3rd crash report send, a popup offered me a solution to reset my profile while retaining the most important settings. I tried that option and it worked. But I could no longer sync my password with the new sync because of a master password set. I find this a show stopper, so I did a profile restore (mozbackup), I wish I didn't have.
I now have the same problem again with Firefox crashing, but it no longer offers the popup with a solution by trying safe mode (i did manually doesn't work) or resettting the profile.
I need to know a command line switch the make Firefox reset the profile while retaining the important data or how to force it show the pop-up.
Thanks a lot, I'm really pulling my hair out over this and need my Firefox experience back!
    Thank you
    Regards

Note that a profile created via a reset still can carry over issues because some data is recovered automatically.
If you use the Profile Manager then you get a completely clean profile and if that works then you can copy files yourself to the new profile or possibly try to identify what is wrong and repair your previous profile.
You only see button to Reset Firefox on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page and in the Safe Mode startup window if you use the profile that is marked as Default=1 in the profiles.ini file (Profile Manager).
If you do not have the "Reset" button then either use the Profile Manager to create a new profile or use the Profile Manager to start with the current default profile to get the Reset button in Firefox.

  • How do I stop iWeb outputting multiple image files? It makes my site slow!

I'm a professional web designer (but don't let that put you off) who uses Dreamweaver and also handcodes HTML & CSS websites at work on a PC, but having got a new Mac for home use I thought I'd give iWeb a go for a personal site hosted on .Mac, showcasing my music and film efforts, that I didn't want to have to think about coding.
I've built a short little site using the attractive 'Travel' theme, just 5 or 6 pages so far, and have not yet added any multimedia content. However, it seemed to take ages to upload it when I published it to .Mac. So then I went to view it, and it was soooo sloooow to download each page, even on my 4mb cable connection. I know it's a fairly graphically-rich theme, but still!
I noticed that it was redrawing the navigation menu each time... and upon close inspection of the HTML code using Safari's 'View Source' to my horror I found out that that each page has a seperate '_files' folder that contains multiple versions of files that are also used in other pages - including navigation buttons and background images. I also saw that every element has styling applied to it 'inline' in the code, rather than in a single seperate style-sheet.
To confirm this I published it to a folder on my hard drive and checked it all out. What a mess!
As a WYSIWYG web page editor iWeb is great but it's an undisputable fact that the HTML markup and CSS code it produces is absolutely appaling. What's worse though is that it also renders whole swaithes of text as images and that it does create seperate folders for each pages content including images, CSS code and navigation buttons - so even though the same images and code are used throughout the site for the background and buttons and layout, they are written out as seperate files and have to be reloaded with every page!!!
This means that the .Mac server must be getting hammered and webpages are very slow to download and slow to render in Safari - it's almost like dialup when I'm viewing my iWebsite, and like I said, I've got a 4mb cable connection!
Looking at the code iWeb produces, it is good to see that tables are not used for layout, and that's one thing in its favour. But surely the whole point of providing 'themed' templates for users is that the same content is used across the site and therefore doesn't need to be created multiple times - one of the benefits of using CSS stylesheets. Why doesn't iWeb create a single stylesheet and make efficient use of repeated images instead of creating multiple instances of the same file for each page?
Perhaps there is a setting somewhere I've missed. If so, let me know someone!
It is a great WYSIWYG editor, but behind the scenes it's not efficient, it's not clean and simple and it's certainly not attractive - and I'm surprised at that coming from Apple! I know iWeb is a great tool for beginners and I'm a picky professional, but if I was Joe Public First Time Web Designer I'd be very annoyed by this.
Clean it up and sort it out Mr Jobs!
PS: Also, where does iWeb store the website whilst it's in production? I can't find it anywhere?

Your iWeb Site is stored not on your iDisk, but on a file named Domain.sites in your ~/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ Folder.
If , for whatever reason, you wipe your HD and/or lose this file (Get a new computer, Re-Install your OS, Stolen Laptop, Crashed HD, Etc.) without backing-up your Domain.sites file then you will have to re-build your iWeb sites from scratch again.
Of course you can edit your Published HTML files in a different program such as Dreamweaver or even Text Edit. You just can't edit Published HTML files in iWeb. Not at this time at least.
Use iWebBackup to backup your Domain file to a Blank CD or DVD. Backing up your Domain file to another folder on your computer is not fully backing it up. If your computer gets stolen you still lost the file but if you have your Domain file burned onto a CD you have a backup!
    Download iWebBackup Here
You can use iWebExtender to automatically consolidate your files into one folder and delete multiple images.

  • How to remove "Blue filter" from multiple images in the History Panel

I am using Lightroom 4.3 on Windows 7 pc.  I have a collection with approximately 650 images.  I was working in the collection and had all the images selected.  Somehow I inadvertently must have hit a keyboard shortcut that effected all the images.  All of the images are negatively effected and they now look terrible.  When I go to the History Panel, all the images have "blue filter" as their most recent entry.  If I select one image and go back to the step before the "blue filter" everything looks fine  again.  My problem is I have this effect in 650 images.  When I try and do the change in one image and then synch to the rest, I don't know what box to check to remove this "blue filter" that has been added to all the images.  I know I can do them one by one, but with 650 images, it's a long and tedious process.  Any way I can remove the "blue filter" from multiple images in a collection?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

If you’ve just done it, then an Undo operation would reverse things on all the images, I think.  But if it took you a while to see the problem, then you might have done something to cancel the undoability.
Isn’t Blue Filter a built in LR preset that modifies the HSL settings:  http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/924/cpsid_92473.html
Open the HSL panel and step back into History on one of the affected images so the effect of the Blue Filter preset has been undone and notice what HSL sliders change, and then if the 650 images DON’T already have any HSL adjustments you should be able to sync JUST the pre-Blue-Filter HSL adjustments (perhaps all zeros) to the other 650 images.

  • How to paste exposure setting to multiple images

    Hi all:
I know this question has probably been asked many times but I couldn't find any answer using the search so please be patient with me. :)
I came from the world of RawShooter Premium and I realized that my version of RSP can't read RAW file from the Canon 30D so I got the Adobe Lightroom to process my images. All is well until I decide to paste the exposure setting from one image to multiple images. I know there is a copy and paste button in the "develop" mode but it doesn't paste the settings (color temp, exposure, noise, etc) to all the images even when I highlighted the images I want to paste. I can do that in RSP, which save a lot of time.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ben

In develop, copy and paste only works on the selected image. You can sync or auto sync (control-sync) there.
If you want to copy and paste to multiple images using shift-control-C and shift-control-V, you can do that in grid mode.

  • How to embed my name within multiple image's EXIF data at once-Bridge CS3

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for some time and just can't understand how to get my images both Raw and JPEGs to show my name in the EXIF copyright or author entry when entering it in the "File Info" dialog box so it shows up viewing EXIF data using EXIF Viewer or within Bridge CS3.
Can I get some help on this? Point me to a tutorial or something?
I've already read Bridge Help and it's worded in such a way that isn't very clear to me on how to do this.
Thank you for your help on this.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. That "Digital Workflow 1" pdf told me to uncheck all IPTC boxes which is opposite what you just said.
You are free to create the workflow that suits you, check or uncheck IPTC in Bridge prefs is only a way to organize the view in the metadata panel, not adding or deleting info from it.
So I'm suppose to enter my name in the IPTC Contact-"Creator" entry section within the "File Info" dialog box of a selected image/images within Bridge CS3 and check the IPTC boxes in the Metadata section of Bridge's Preferences dialog box to turn them on so my name I entered as "Creator" in "File Info"/IPTC can be seen in the Metadata placard Bridge work space interface but does NOT guarantee my name will be EMBEDED IN THE EXIF of the selected image/images?
As above, all info you add to IPTC and apply to an image is embedded in the exif and xmp data of that file, no matter if the boxes are checked or unchecked for visibility in metadata panel.
IOW checking the IPTC boxes in Bridge's Metadata Preferences is just for previewing within Metadata Placard work space interface in Bridge? I'm using Filmstrip view as a Bridge work space BTW.
Yes. And consider an other workspace for metadata, I attach some screenshots from my workspace I crerated myself in Bridge using the prefs and drag and drop with panels. It is from Bridge CS4 and apart from the top pathbar it is basicly the same as CS3.
Filmstrip is very nice for sorting with big preview but not the best for adding metadata. You can create as many workspace as you like and you can easily switch between them (in CS3 use the number buttons bottom right.
To actually embed my name entered as "Creator" in "File Info" IPTC section in a selected image/image's EXIF data I have to apply a custom made template to the image/images already residing on the hard drive and viewed in Bridge OR append the IPTC data within the EXIF of the image/images upon import from camera CF card reader through Bridge's "Get Photos From Camera" drop down menu. Correct?
Yes, I have choosen for the last option because now all my downloaded files have this template in it and I don't have to bother later. No matter if the files are keepers or not. You only have to create a template once. See also a screenshot from the info I filled to the template but it is up to you what you like to appear in there.
Another question, what is the difference between the "Description" section where you can enter "Author" (which would be my name) and the IPTC Contact section where you can enter "Creator" (again, my name) both within "File Info" dialog box?
check this wikipedia info about IPTC:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Press_Telecommunications_Council
Another question, I just selected a batch of images within a folder in Bridge and tried to create a Metadata Template and it shows a blank box with a statement at the bottom "Only checked properties will be added/changed to this template"...and below this "Properties selected: 0". What and where are checked properties? Does that mean I have to check the IPTC boxes in Bridge's Metadata Preferences?
Don't know that. You should first create a template without selecting multiple files. After you saved this template select the files you want to change and click on the append template option.
I have to wonder how and why another photographer would need all this nested clutter to accommodate alternate workflows on something as simple as input/output processing on a batch of images. It's beyond my understanding. This just seems way too complicated to have to sort out. Just my opinion.
Nothing is ever that simple as it seems....

  • How to remove an adjustment from multiple images

Hi, i've used the lift and stamp method to apply a black and white preset to a group of images. I want to remove this adjustment from the same group of images but the only way i can see how to do it is to unclick the Black and White adjustment brick for each image individually. Is there a way to do this for a group of images?

You are absolutely right. My apologies.
What follows is what I found out this morning, just by poking around. I am not a programmer nor a program designer -- my apologies in advance for anything wrong or clumsily understood.
I believe you have stumbled across a significant design flaw in Aperture. Resetting an adjustment brick effectively removes it for some bricks, and does not for others ^1^. There is no way I know of to batch remove (or turn on/off (i.e.: check or uncheck)) adjustment bricks. There should be.
The [User Manual|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter =16%26section=9%26hash=apple_ref:doc:uid:Aperture-UserManual-91292AOV-1009540] is simply wrong about this. On the "Removing Adjustments" page it states:
To remove a single adjustment from an image
Select an image, then click the Reset button for the adjustment you want to remove.
This does not work for those adjustments which default to having an effect, such as the "Black & White" brick under discussion, "Vignette" and others.
It seems to me there should be clear distinctions between (and controls for) both the "on/off" status of an adjustment brick, and the "default/not-default" settings of the parameters within the brick.
Perhaps others can join in with further comments and provide some more light on this. As it is, I recommend sending feedback on this to the Aperture team, via the program. Use "Aperture→Provide Aperture Feedback".
^1^ There are two kinds (at least) of adjustments in Aperture: those with a "null" default and those with a "non-null" default. Null-default adjustments can be "zeroed out" -- the adjustment can be applied and have no effect. Non-null-default adjustments cannot be zeroed out -- the only way to have no effect is to turn the adjustment off (uncheck it) or remove it. There are, to the best of my knowledge, no ways to batch turn off or remove adjustments (I don't use AppleScript, but I checked the manual).

  • How would I save and name multiple images automatically acquired from a Imaqdx camera?

I have a code that can save images however, there is a need for user input when it comes to saving the images.
    I also attached the code.
    Attachments:
    CodeForPictures.vi ‏116 KB

    Hi Theydon,
The number of photos is going to be set by how often you are calling that IMAQdx Snap.  This right now is going to be limited by the prep time between shots.  If you make it so the loop will run more than once a second, you will get more photos.
Secondly, why do you have that while loop around the write to file?  You don't actually need it, and this is probably what is causing the files to skipover those files.  If you would still like to decide whether or not to save the image, you could use a case structure instead of this while loop.

  • ColorSync profiles and image size

For some reasons, why I apply a colorsync profile to an image and save the image, the file size goes down by about 50%. Does anyone know why this happens or how this can be avoided?
Could it have something to do with the fact that when you save an image in Preview is it's pre-set to save JPG images at 'almost best' quality, but not 'best' quality?
Does this 50% decrease in file size mean the image has been compressed and lost information?
Also, while I'm on the topic, which is the best coloursync profile to apply to my images if I may use them for creating iPhoto books? The sRGB profile makes the images look a bit dark on my screen, as does Camera RGB. However, the sRGB IEC1996-2.1 looks about the right one, but I don't really know much about color management.

    Hi Tom,
Everytime you save an image as a jpg it does become more compressed and is usually a smaller file size. That does not necessarily mean that you are losing image quality.
When you save images, you are most of the time optimizing the image. Which means, trying to make the file size as small as possible without any loss in image quality. Optimization is the result of the images you see on the internet, they need to be of high quality but a reasonable file size.
For printing purposes you probably would want to save the file as 'highest' possible quality. I have printed 5mb jpg files to as large as 20 x 30 with no loss of quality. Preview allows you to save at the highest quality by using the 'Save As' option...
Color Profile - As far as what others may see compared to what you see on your screen. I would probably bet almost everyone will see a slightly different image depending on computer type, screen, monitor brightness etc.

  • How  to fade groups of images or multiple images at the same time?

I am creating a flash infographic, and want to fade images I have imported from Illustrator that are grouped. I would like to know how  to fade these groups and multiple images at the same time.
    Thanks!

    Use TweenMax for this.
    the syntax is like this:
    var arrayOfDisplayObjects:Array = new Array();
    //with arrayOfDisplayObjects.push(DisplayObject)
//you can put any DisplayObject in the Array and when you want to fade them call this
    TweenMax.allTo(arrayOfDisplayObjects,1, { autoAlpha:0} );
//to fade them in 1 second to alpha=0 and when reaching the zero make them invisible (to save processing power)

  • Remove adjustment from multiple images?

I have multiple images where I used Sharpen instead of Edge Sharpen. I know I can Lift & Stamp the Edge Sharpen adjustment to multiple images but I can't seem to find a way to remove the Sharpen adjustment from all of them first. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks

I can add the other keyword using your techniqe, but how do I get rid of the wrong keyword without interfering with the other keywords I have already set for the images?
    Keywords are metadata, not adjustments.
If you want to add or remove keywords to multiple images, without interfering with the keywords that are already set, I'd suggest to configurekeyword sets and to use the keyword controls:
For example, after designing a keyword set"Himmel" (sky) I can add or remove one of the keywords for all selected images  by simply pressing a button in the keywords panel or using a key combination: for example ⌥6  to add the keyword "Halo" to all images, ⇧⌥6 to remove it from all currently selected images.
But the question is, how to remove one adjustment from multiple images, and that seems to be behaving buggy in Aperture 3.4.1, at least on my system: If I try to add an adjustment to (or remove from)  multiple images, only the primary selection will be modified - and yes "Primary only is disabled ).
For example: Trying to add "Sepia Tone" to four images: I see the same on two MBPs and on my iMac with Aperture 3.4.1.

  • Multiple image upload with save to database wizard problem

    hi,
i need to upload multiple images (6) in a table called pictures. i will need the names stored in the database and the files uploaded on the server. since i am new to dreamweaver i can not figure out on how to make this work.
the multiple image upload wizard uploads the images fine and creates a subfolder with the right id but i have no file names in the database at this point. i tried the multiple image upload with save to database wizard but i only get one upload button. it worked fine with one image but i need 6 pics uploaded. the i tried to first upload the pictures with the multiple image upload wizard and use the update wizard to add the names afterwards but that did not work either. hmm. would be great if someone could help me out.
    thanks, jan

Thank you for the responses. I have already updated awhile ago, so I am wondering what happened. Not sure if during the server update, some files were replaced (unless I totally forgot to update to 1.0.1 on this site). So I reinstalled 1.0.1, deleted the includes folder from the server and uploaded my includes folder and it now works again.
    Again, thanks for the help.
