Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recovery use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
    Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • How to reset password after forgotten password

How to reset passwod after forgetting password

You can't recover a password. You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
This will tell you how to restore
iTunes: Backing up, updating or restoring iOS software
If you cannot restore that way, you may have to use recovery mode
iPad: Unable to update or restore

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

    Hi..
    Password or passcode?
If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Instructions for putting the device in recovery mode > iOS: Unable to update or restore
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Resetting iPad after saving iBooks and music

    HI
i I have an iPad 2 that's gotten slow after all updates
i wish to reset it completely after saving ONLY thef  iBooks and music on that ipad. Nothing else matters , actually I wish to deleTe all other junk
i have a laptop, I've installed iTunes on it, I have a cable to connect the iPad to that laptop and remember my Apple id
i regularly backup my iPhone to that same laptop, but I guess Apple is smart enough to know the difference
Whats The best way to go about resetting the iPad 2
    tthanks in advance
    bbest regards
    subu

Yes, iTunes will know the difference between the two devices, so you don't have to worry about that. If you sync the phone then you know the basics.
If the music and books were purchased from iTunes and the iBooks Stores, they can be downloaded again anyway, even if you erase the iPad and start over. Assuming that the books and music are still available in the stores, you will be able to download them again, that is. However, I am not suggesting that you erase the device just yet.
This is how I would do it. Transfer all purchases from the iPad into iTunes backup the iPad, restore to factory settings, then restore the backup. See how that goes for a while before you totally erase everything and start all over again.

If you prefer, you can totally erase the iPad and then download all of your purchased content again. Only iTunes or any Apple purchased content can be download again. Read these first.

  • How to reset ipad

Is there any ways that I can reset my New iPad to factory settings? It got switched off due to less charge and now after charging I'm unable to see the screen turned on. Display is not turning on. But when I put it in silent mode ring icon displays on screen which represents turned on to silent mode.

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds
    2. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)

  • How to reset Terminal after adding screenshot modification

Yesterday I messed with Terminal, not having a clue as to what it is or how to use it.  Some users said that it was possible to save all your screenshots in various formats, such as jpg.  The directions given were to paste the following line into a Terminal window and press enter:  defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg;killall SystemUIServer
So I opened Terminal and was somehow able to add that line to the same page, after what was already there. It worked okay for screenshots, but now I'm having glitches in copying and pasting things from Safari to Word.
Could you please help me delete my change or reset my Terminal?

What glitches are you having? Nothing there should effect copying and pasting between apps so this mayt be a coincidence.
Have you tried rebooting since? I would shutdown the machine and then reboot and se if the problem clears. If not you will need to be  more specific in your problem description.

  • How to reset ipad without taking picture?

My photo stream is full of screenshots from the iPad. Since day one everytime I hold home and wake buttons, first thing it does is take a picture and then after about 30 seconds it finally resets.  It does not take 10 seconds, closer to 30.

It shouldn't take a picture. Usually, to take a screen shot you press and release the buttons. To do a reset you hold them down continuously unitl you see the silver apple.
I've reset mine several times and never taken a screen shot, but stuff happens. You can always make an appointment at your local apple store and have them take a look at it. Maybe something isn't quite right inside.

  • How to reset iPad without losing game progress

Hi! I would like to reset my IPad 2 back to factory settings, as if it is a new iPad, but I do not want to lose all my game progress. I have 2 games that I'm not sure what will happen to.
I tried researching this myself online and it seems like as long as I backup to icloud before resetting, I won't lose game progress. Is this true?
    Thanks for the help!

Game Center only saves games achievement. It never saves game progress. It is up to the developer as to whether they have built in the feature to save game progress.
Not sure if this is true (I don't have that game) but after doing a quick google search, it appears you can save Sims Freeplay progress to the Cloud.  I also think you can connect it to Facebook.  Maybe someone else on the forum can verify this?
